Well that and our pregnancies and other non-dec '06 children

Tis a good thing I feel.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 19/11/2008 23:14

Oh and if you're an emoticon queen Castles then I'm a bit of a winker.

Olihan · 19/11/2008 23:31

Okay, have caught up, I think but am bound to have forgotton lots of news by the time I finish this post.

PC has been down for a week - bah. Good news is my ironing pile is non-existent .

Eli, sorry 'bout the house - horrid man. We had a similar scenario when we moved last year - our buyers pulled out the day we were due to exchange. Nightmare, but at least you're happy where you are for now.

AQ - moving? Nooooooooooooo. You'll have to employ your cleaner full time while you're having viewings, if your dcs are anything like mine .

Hello Spina .

LenniEd, I'd say the pains are BH or just false labour (that's in my trained mw capacity, obviously ). I think they are more common in 2nd pgs. Mine certainly had me panicking I was in full on labour with dd and ds2. DD (#2) was a full 12 days late so don't panic unless your waters break .

Lists of presents are very useful. The trouble with ds2 being a 3rd is that we have so much 'stuff' already.

Indith, ouch about your nethers. Poor you, not long now........

Castles, very, very good news re. Ds's bonce and dh's presence at the weekends. Must be a big relief I'm sure.

MARGO, excellent round up there.

I can make all the cakes mentioned, I should think. Couriers from Cheshire to London, Hull, etc may be a bit pricey though!

I'm making Ds1 a Power Ranger unless I can persuade him into something easier , Ds2 a Kipper (the dog) and DH/FIL a joint 30th/60th cake with 2 big bosomed ladies draped over a Formula 1 car. All within 6 days. What am I thinking?

Olihan · 19/11/2008 23:33

I can see a challenge for castles' emoticon crown in my last post...

Indith · 20/11/2008 09:26

Argh!

And breathe

MIL is here. Being pretty useful I must say but still argh! Can only cope with small MIL doses. And why does she take so long to get going in the morning? She is supposed to be here so I can get things done that need to be done (hence being on here ) so she says she'll take ds out this morning. Ds was up early, wants desperately to go out and despite her getting up at 6.50 it takes until 9 for her to have had enough cups of tea/make-up etc to go out and by then I am going mad and have a manic, moaning, tantruming child!

Ah well she goes home today

Hello Spina!

Lennied don't you dare have that baby just yet. If you do I shall sulk. Everyone on here had theirs before me a couple of years ago and a fair few of the January 07 lot did too. this time I strictly forbid it. They've started popping already on the December 08 thread though

Ace summary Margo

for rubbish families

Christmas/birthday ds is getting so much from relatives, despite attempts to curb spending (was trying to get them to get little things/things that occupy children for christmas as that should be more about family and there is so much excitement going on anyway and then main present for birthday). From us he has a small shoe box sized oven I got in a charity shop for about £3 and some wooden play food to go with it. Shall put some cookie cutters, maybe play-doh and bubble bath in his stocking. Birthday shall be more train set from us, either second hand brio I've been semi offered or the big 50 something piece set Tesco are doing for £10 (Tesco and Brio fit together for all cheapskates out there)

Must go attack actual work

AnneOfAvonlea · 20/11/2008 13:19

Hi Spina.

Lennied - hope you feel ok now.

DD2 has just fought sleep for an hour but has finally dropped off. She has hardly eaten in the last 3 days. Just a few cheerios and biscuits. She's had a couple of foul nappies so I think she has an upset tummy Very unlike her not to eat.

jabberwocky · 20/11/2008 13:57

Hi Spina, welcome back

Anne, we're still dealing with foul poo here as well although it seems a bit better. He's been eating fairly well throughout. Still assuming it is teeth. Our new pediatrician's office refused to work us in on Tuesday We are definitely changing offices

LenniEd, I had BH's with ds2 around the same time. I got kind of paranoid b/c I had true pre-term labour with ds1 at 30 weeks. I read somewhere that getting in the bath would sometimes settle things down so I did that a few times when they were making me really uncomfotable and it worked.

Elibean · 20/11/2008 13:59

Don't you find an hour with a toddler fighting sleep makes you want to sleep for hours? I think they pass it all to us... Hope dd's tummy gets better soon, Anne.

Castles, thanks for link, great, I can do a weekly shop and make dd's day all at the same time

Margo, summing up and one-liners are gifts, trust me. Someone once told me I would have 'keep it simple' engraved on my head stone, because I am clinically incapable.

Oli, if AQ is SuperMum, you are SuperCakeMum, and three - well, four really - in six days?!? Can I watch, please?

Elibean · 20/11/2008 14:00

Not that I doubt you, I know you will make/bake it and not only that, they will look and taste superb

Olihan · 20/11/2008 18:37

You can watch Eli but if you're offended by swearing it might be best not to .

Mind you, I did a bit of investigation into parties for the boys as the thought of having 15 5yo boys in my house is sending me into the gin bottle already and the place I really want to go to (where they can have a joint party) is closed over the Christmas hols and can't fit us in until Jan 18th. Which would take a lot of pressure off. Am very tempted.

Indith, commiserations, my mum is exactly the same - comes to 'help' but somehow my work load increases exponentially as she walks through the door.

Did a few bits of Christmas shopping today. I may aspire to LenniEd's level of organisation and wrap them later. OTOH, a very good friend who I haven't spoken to for yonks is ringing once the dcs are in bed, so it's probably unlikely to happen. Still, it's the thought that counts, no?

LenniEd, how are the pains today?

Elibean · 20/11/2008 18:43

I wish I was offended by swearing

Indith, I think we've already established this, but my dm = extra workload too. I wonder if we'll be extra workloads on our DC one day?!

LenniEd · 20/11/2008 19:40

Indith I have absolutely no intention to have this baby just yet! Looks like they were 'real' contractions and I'm still having them on and off. Called midwife this morning and only avoided monitoring at hospital on account of the fact DHs car is in for service along with DH and the car seat so there was no transporting DD anywhere and midwife didn't feel like babysitting so she came here instead.

Apparently a lot of women will have a bout of contractions when the head engages and only a tiny tiny number will go into labour so she wasn't overly concerned about the contractions. Head is well down and enagaged and she is a bit concerned about how that is affecting the SPD. She's also took bloods as I'm just generally feeling under the weather so she wants to make sure nothing untoward. She said in the long run it means nothing really that head engaged so early just more uncomfortable for me but pressure on cervix makes it more likely will be early than late so might be looking at birthday congestion after all but we'll cross that bridge...

Oli - think the cake timing might be more of a problem than the courier but thank you anyway any tips on how to make a tractor would be gratefully received tho!

Hello Spina! More to the point, do you remember me??

Margo - wow! Think you could do those more often so we can all keep up?

And yes, thinking about wrapping counts as organisation. Dwelling on not having wrapped counts as minus points though

Olihan · 20/11/2008 22:18

LenniEd, one of my books has a really easy tractor in. I don't mind photocopying it and sticking it in the post to you if you want to have a look. (I would scan it but my scanner is hopeless and you probably wouldn't be able to read the instructions).

I'm glad the pains are nothing sinister but sorry the SPD is bad. There is a chance he might disengage, I guess - subsequent babies often do, don;t they?

As I predicted, presents aren't actually wrapped - had a good chat and watched I'm a Celeb instead (anyone know who the David bloke is, btw? Celeb my back bottom )

Indith · 20/11/2008 22:30

No wrapping in this house yet! Can't find the paper. Cards all done though!

Ds is joining the horrible poo club. His is tooth and snot related. Joy

No idea about celebs Oli, though for anyone who watched Never Mind the Buzzcocks tonight the "Beth Ditto" in the line up was my friend

Glad things are ok Lennied, sounds like a good excuse to take it easy though!

Head is 3/5 according to the MW today and she didn't have any appointments until 39 weeks! Here's hoping I don't see her in the nicest possible way.

AnneOfAvonlea · 21/11/2008 07:37

We had vomit in the night

LenniEd · 21/11/2008 09:01

AoA - Hope you are getting some rest now and if not have got cbeebies on and a nice cup of tea.

I also hope you don't see th midwife again Indith ooooh, how exciting, not long left for you at all now. We are being spoilt on here with another arrival before Christmas

There is every chance baby will dis-engage Oli so no clutching at straws. Midwife seemed quite mystified that this awkward so and so that has been the wrong way round for 10 weeks has suddenly gone head down and engaged and caused a false alarm in the space of about 10 days! DD was so well behaved by comparison. But then I wasn't, so not sure which is worst!

Cake photocopied page would be wonderful! Thank you so much. Will send you a message on FB with my email and address. Thanks Oli

Elibean · 21/11/2008 09:44

Hope the vomiting and pooing LOs are better today....

Just hacking coughs here, dd2 still waking 3am coughing herself silly every single night and dd1 on ABs and steroid inhalers, but better. Still bit and re sudden change of immediate future, but will take house off market next week so at least no more viewings, I can let the house go to rack and ruin, yeay....

Am v impressed, and ,at the wrapping and card writing, though I do remember being better at all that when pg

Elibean · 21/11/2008 09:45

Ooo, that was colourful, very Xmas baubley

spina · 21/11/2008 10:07

Thanks for the update MARGO vv useful.

Of course i remember you,LenniEd. wasn't it same or day apart due dates for us in 2006? Hope your pg has gone well. i'd love to read through all the threads to catch up but I know how chatty everyone is and it'd be another two years before i was back in the present day again!

I'm about to pop out for some quality time with Spina Jr which I've been enjoying since ds1 started school in Sept. Spin Jr is in love with ds1's best friend's little sister, who in turn is in love with ds1. Lost anyone? She and Spin Jr go to a singing class on fridays. She's three so obviously her maturity and worldly experience appeals to Spin Jr. i'm trying to get him interested in the twin sisters in his class too, but worry that may cause complications if I succeed.
Ds1 is getting on well at school,we think! he seems happy despite the fact that he tells us that he never plays with anyone and does nothing all day. We don't think he's a very reliable source of info.

dh and i are still doing our house up. the main reason I disappeared. my only internet access in the weeks after ds2 was born involved me sitting outside the building site while ds2 napped in car with my laptop on my knee. I kinda got out of the habit of coming on here.

AnneOfAvonlea · 21/11/2008 10:43

Ok no more vomit and DD is eating dry rice crispies and begging for more. She is probably starving.

LenniEd · 21/11/2008 18:33

DD was due on the 26th Spina and arrived on the 28th. Am hoping this one is as well behaved and arrives close to its due date since I don't want them too close together - but think the hormones are making me obsess about that a bit and really it would be fine as Oli will testify! Pg has gone fine all in all - absolutely fine until the last few weeks, but will be glad to be back to normal, even if it is a slightly different normal.

Oh Eli, you poor thing with a houseful of poorly people yet again, I don't know how you have the energy for it. I hope the DDs are feeling better soon and DD2's cough clears up. I would attempt to make some completely useless suggestions but I very much doubt you haven't done them all to death already. What about seeing a homeopath?

Glad the vomiting has stopped AoA.

Right, might get the decs down tonight. DSis coming next w/e for pretend Xmas so need to have the place looking festive

LenniEd · 21/11/2008 18:34

Gosh, that really sounds like I invite the postman in which I assure you I don't

castlesintheair · 21/11/2008 18:50

Ooh, yes, Lennied & Eli: homeopathy and cranial osteopathy changed our lives!

Sorry to hear about all the lurgies. DD2 had a runny tummy for a bit but is back on form now.

Lennied, hope you enjoy your "date" with the postman on Monday

Talking of which we still haven't put all our Xmas stuff in the loft from last year At least it makes it easier for this year and there are definite benefits in being a complete slattern

Olihan · 21/11/2008 22:35

Yikes, Lennied, our dcs really are twins. Exactly the same due date and birthday. Obviously the separate parents may be a technical blip in the twins theory but what are the chances of them being due the same day and born on the same day. Ds2 was born at 1:25am, what about dd?

at your postman admiring your decs. There is a house in our village with a fully decorated tree in their front window and a Santa Stop Here sign in the garden. They did it at the weekend. Poor DS1 got very excited that it was nearly Christmas until I swiftly disillusioned him. Have FB'd you back, btw.

Poor you yet again Eli. We have a snotty ds2 but it's only snot and nothing else, thank goodness.

AoA, hope she's kept down whatever she's been demanding today.

Spina, I'm always amazed at the way ds1 apparently spends 6 hours doing nothing at school . Bless them. It's the teachers I pity, all that work and effort they put in and the dcs tell their parents they didn't do anything!

Eh? Why did that post twice? I pressed post and got a blank preview so backed up and posted again and it's there twice. I have gremlins!
