Tis a good thing I feel.

Frost here too BP - all my hanging baskets have died overnight.

Oh yeah and I can't walk. Or lift anything. Think I have hurt myself somehow, but can't muster the energy to get to the docs. Am sure I've just pulled lots of muscles or something and they'll tell me to rest.

I am waiting with baited breath for all the details on the twins - I'm not sure we will be hearing anything for a while though, can't imagine life with twins and two little ones

Elibean · 02/10/2008 22:34

All this talk of duvets is making me sleepy....sleepier, that is...they sound wonderful, be they feather, down, first or second hand.

We're off to Cheltenham tomorrow to visit my sister: no frost there, apparently its going to rain all weekend

Elibean · 02/10/2008 22:35

Oops, pressed post by mistake: LenniEd, meant to add ((()))s and chocolate for the hurts - hope whatever they are they're better by morning, and nothing serious. Please humour me and see a doc if you're not able to move by then, eh?!

jabberwocky · 02/10/2008 22:40

aww, lenniEd hope it's nothing serious.

with ds2's allergies we had to go with non-feather but it's something very soft and nice - can't remember now what it was called. I have also noticed he sleeps better when warmer. In fact he slept through until 5:30 this morning which was wonderful!!

LenniEd · 02/10/2008 22:58

Thanks Eli and Jabber. Have rung hospital - got to see midwife next week but the one I spoke to thinks it sounds like SPD. I had very mild SPD with DD but that felt different to this - this is agony. Can't face this for another 3 months, can hardly lift DD and definately can't walk very far. She's already fell out with me lately (always asking for Daddy ), think this will only make things worse.

LenniEd · 03/10/2008 08:37

OK - feeling much better this morning. Sorry for self indulgent moaning!

accessorizequeen · 03/10/2008 08:54

Hullo all My dt's are blissfully having a lie in and dp has taken the ds's on the school run so naturally I thought 10 mins spare, I'll go on mumsnet! Have been avoiding computer (not that I have time!) until we chose names which we did yesterday after much stress....

Felix and Bridget are now 6 days old and they're so sweet, but life is very hard work just now as I guess I expected. Last night I had 2 x 2 hour sleeps in my bed (hadn't got in it at all the previous 2 nights upon returning from hospital!) which makes me feel top of the world as I might get an hour during the day as well. During the day they're feeding every 3 hours & napping well so it's fairly calm then except when both want feeding at same times! Bfeeding twins is um interesting to say the least - one screams for 20-30 mins until latched and then feeds like a dream, the other faffs around for over an hour! We stupidly went out yesterday with them (omg the amount of attention you get, there were people leaning over the pram all afternoon!) Ended up in Dhams changing room for an hour an a half trying to tandem feed them just so we could go home. Nightmare.

Birth story wanted I guess. It's actually the best birth I've had so far funniliy enough! and I'm recovering better than with the other two as well. Very lucky, I feel. Waters exploded all over our bed Sat. night, went into hospital, within seconds of entering the doors was contracting 2 mins apart and in agony. Whished me into delivery room, 4cm. Asked repeadtedly for epidural until I got one!!! Within 30 mins twin1's head was right at the entrance, dp tried to disappear to get my bags from the car & they dragged him back. Got to hospital 8pm, at 10.18 Felix was born and absolutely fine. Then things got a bit hairy as Bridget had her arm stuck up in front of her head so they had to put it back in (very good registrar, she was wonderful!) before she could be born. She came out 20 mins after her brother quite grey and floppy, not making a noise which I panicked about but within a minute was fine and there are no problems. Apparently I was minutes from a crash section because 20 is the max b/t twins before she would be have been in trouble. One tiny stitch, lost quite a lot of blood but all ok and I am loving being able to bend and walk and get in and out of bed/car etc without any help!!

Didn't feel bonded with them for quite some time, but stayed an extra night in hospital on advice of a friend and made all the difference getting to know them both a little. Got very gushy over them yesterday, but generally so bloomin tired & back/pelvis hurting that it's just a blur. Hope that will settle down.

BP, hope you are able to rest up and get over this soon, sounds worrying! Lennied, I so sympathise over the spd as you will know you poor thing. I'm getting twinges still after the birth, I was hoping it would disappear but I'm not resting enough. Are you going to get referral to physio and if you can possibly avoid lifting dd altogether (esp not carrying on your hip which is the worse) it will make you feel much better within a day or so as that's really what did me in with ds2.

castlesintheair · 03/10/2008 09:37

How lovely to see you on here AQ. Lovely names. So proud of you, you truly are a superstar. I guess it will be hard for a while but hey, you know, it gets easier eventually Btw, my friend with 8 month old twins expressed milk so she could feed one with a bottle and one on breast at same time. God knows how she did it but she said it was easier than feeding them both at once (rugby hold style).

BP, if I don't hear from Indith, the duvet is yours!

EustaciaVye · 03/10/2008 10:49

wlecome back AQ! Very proud of you and loving the names Felix and Bridget. Take it easy xxx

Indith · 03/10/2008 12:36

Lovely names AQ Sounds like things going pretty well. You are superwoman

Castles give it to BP, sounds like it'll make her day! Am sending mum to Dunelm for covers and a spare duvet (because we all know what vomit bugs are like!)

Lennied you take care of yourself, rest up, keep your legs together and demand a referal if it is SPD. Hopefully you've pulled something rather than SPD but even if so all the relaxin will mean it will take time to get better. Whatever I pulled in my bum right at the start of pg is still acting up. Be good!

Very cold here too, no frost though but I actually put the heating on for a bit last night

Oh, AQ, what lovely names, and what a fabulous story! You sound so very chilled - how do you do that! (And your comment about best birth so far has me ing!)

LenniEd · 03/10/2008 14:35

AQ! Wonderful to hear from you and glad you are coping, how on earth you do it is beyond me. Anything you need just get in touch .

Spoken to my GP - looks like it is SPD, but she is hopeful that it will improve with rest and being more aware of it. It already feels a lot better today for keeping my legs together (oo-er ) and taking it a bit easier. Good excuse for some rest too, which I was in need of!

babypowder · 03/10/2008 17:16

LenniEd, take any help they offer for your SPD. Most of all, take it as easy as you can.

Indith, my Dh is forever complaining that I nick the duvet during the night. I honestly didn't mean to nick Castles'! It was really only a !!

There's snow on the hills today. Brrrrr.

castlesintheair · 03/10/2008 18:12

BP let me know your address and I'll send it to you. My email is [email protected]

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 03/10/2008 19:55

I have a very good friend whose name is Bridget. They're lovely names.

I held one of my friends twins today, as light as a feather. She was star mum in Mother and toddlers yesterday and today.

I considered texting her yesterday - I thought I'd take her 2yo to playgroup, I had 2nd thoughts as I thought she probably wouldn't be up, it was too short notice etc. She turn up 10mins after me (minus twins) looking wonderful, fitting in her normal jeans, I was very . . But hey, she's a MN'er so she is naturally fabulous(like the rest of us)

I thought of you and yours AQ as I gave the little boy a cuddle.

SachaF · 03/10/2008 20:58

Hi all.
Yes, I've been very absent! I was away all of August, had builders in at the beginning of September and catching up on work before the due date!
Dc2 arrived on her due date (19th Sept) at 11.45pm delivered at home in the bath by her daddy. Boy are 2nd babies quick once they are on the move! Midwife arrived 5 minutes later and 30mins later ds came in and had cuddles. All very nice and calm (apart from dh saying 'what do you want me to do?', me replying 'call delivery suite, they'll tell you what to do', him thinking blast that, jumping in the bath and catching the baby!).
Many congrats twin mummies AQ and LenniEd, sounds absolutely fab to have twins (although I know it must feel like hard work at the moment), and congrats to the fat tummies coming along for later in the year!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 03/10/2008 21:00

Welcome back into the fold SachaF!

SachaF · 03/10/2008 21:01

Sorry LenniEd, have put you in the wrong category there, shall categorise you back in to the fat tummy brigade (in a nice way of course! )

LenniEd · 03/10/2008 22:24

Wow! That's a birth story and a half! Was it an intended home birth??

jabberwocky · 04/10/2008 03:07

I leave for a day and there's two birth stories posted! And very exciting ones at that

So happy for both of you, AQ and Sacha. Love the names, AQ. You sound in motherly bliss
almost makes me broody, lol.

babypowder · 05/10/2008 15:01

Welcome back, sachaF - glad it all went well for you

To counter any potential broodiness I went and got myself a kitten yesterday (our old cat died earlier this year) It's lovely, and nearly as good as a human baby!

Castles, will drop you a note now.

Indith · 05/10/2008 17:54

Hello Sacha Glad you've made it back and huge congrats on the birth.

Have been in North Yorkshire for the weekend with a load of friends. Am shattered after spending the night with a restless ds in our bed but it was great. Poor ds is all itchy, something got him at toddler group on Friday, a friend of his has a single bite but ds has loads on his head in his hair, a few round the hairline, one in the corner of his eye, one behind his ear and one in it! No idea what it was but ds says the itch like hell. They all blistered horribly and wept fluid so his hair is all encrusted. Nice.
