I havent seen baby pasta, will look out for that. just tried normal pasta with baby pasta sauce. you could try draining it in a wire seive of you have one?

Lilyloo · 26/08/2008 18:56

ooh yeah that would work haven't got one but will do as she really likes it. It's Heinz i get about 80p a bag and it lasts ages it's about half the size of a little fingernail and is flat so very easy to eat!

Lilyloo - I use a wire sieve. Oh, and you can usually get it (not called baby pasta, mind, but the same thing) in the pasta section of the bigger supermarkets....I have a packet of 'farfalline', little bows, (aha...can you tell I'm typing this in the kitchen ?) by Bartura and some 'Stellete' (mini stars) by De Cecco. The bags/boxes are bigger than the Heinz ones in the baby section and, surprise surprise, they generally cost a lot less !

And they're great in soup for older children too

LuckySalem · 26/08/2008 21:31

Well I if I can't foster dogs i'm looking at kittens now instead as Lucky like to mother them so...... that's my next thing.

I've had a look through but to be honest nothing has stuck to me. lol

Hope your all ok and glad that some are back.

LuckySalem · 26/08/2008 21:58

Oh god - I've just read that back and I sound as though I'm going from one fad to another. I'm really not I just want to help and I need a "job" of some sort but can't get a job around DP's work so this is my job.

I do sound pathetic don't I.

madmouse · 26/08/2008 22:03

Good heavens made a kind of casserole with a chicken thigh, 2 small carrots, a small baking potato and a handful of peas. And Nathan scoffed at least a quarter of that in one sitting, despite being slightly lumpier than jars. Then threw some milk in after it and slept like a log while me and dp had dinner together. Had a bath and was then so full of beans that he did not go down until 9. Maybe a better night? We can hope

Must admit that we are pasta snobs in this house and use De Cecco where we can, so when I came across the little stars that filly mentioned I snatched up a pack even though Nathan is still a bit too small.

He loves weetabix by the way. I mix it with my milk and then add some fruit puree or yogurt.

I wish it was noon tomorrow....then the dentist would be finished drilling in my mouth for a crown and a filling. Used to be scared, but have given birth now and it is in a bit of a different league. Will still be glad when it is over.

dh had a burst of energy and has removed an old desk from the nursery, hung prints on the walls in all the rooms in the house and shifted unused bookshelves to the garage, then unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. Good man

Oh and Bluebell, we have abandoned the idea of a mural as this is not our house and we will move again in a few years and will instead buy a tree like yours. In fact off to buy one now.

Night all

Lilyloo · 26/08/2008 22:18

Lucky not at all if you help any animal then you are doing a good job

MM lol at the comparing child birth to any other experience.
I positively strolled into my smear test with a smile on my face

madmouse · 26/08/2008 22:22

Hey Lucky, I know how you feel, at least I have a job to go back to. Have you considered childminding (for human children ?

madmouse · 26/08/2008 22:22

...or would dp expect you to keep them all quiet while he sleeps? What does he actually do? Being nosey here!

LuckySalem · 26/08/2008 22:27

They'd have to be quiet in order for him to sleep although he's suggested that I foster kids Which we checked into not long after DD was born but we can't till she's 5 (I think)

He works as a team leader of Grocery replenishment. Which is basically a team leader at shelf stacking! lol

LuckySalem · 26/08/2008 22:30

Well cat fostering is seeming more popular (they don't seem as picky) we've been asked if we can take in a family of 4 adult cats which I've had to turn down as although I think Lucky may cope with 1 maybe 2 adults she couldn't cope with 4. Salem would LOVE it! lol but its not fair on her.

Lilyloo · 26/08/2008 22:44

Lucky have you thought of rabbits ? LOL
We unexpectedly got oursmafter dog found it whils on walk (she albino)
We had to keep her after we rung lot's of places and they all full ?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 26/08/2008 22:48

We would but we have no runs or anything for it and it definatly couldn't stay inside as the cats would never leave something that big (but not scary) alone. I couldn't afford the type of set-up they'd need.

We've offered to do small furries as have the old gerbil cage still but no takers on that.

LuckySalem · 26/08/2008 23:06

Oh forgot to say falsh alarm on the thought of pregnancy as AF arrived today [phew] so must have been the pill or something reeking havoc.

ME and DP have said we'll do one more month of it then we'll rethink trying.

LaTrucha · 27/08/2008 09:41

Hello all!

Glad to hear your LOs are eating greedily. We're still suffering from our setback here and she's being very mistrustful of food. I bought some jars, which I used to think were the biggest stupidity in the world, but I had one left over from a journey and I gave it to her and she ate it. So, I've far fewer scruples than I used to have! I think by next week she'll have regained confidence and we can start introducing her again to the things she liked BEFORE we went to see the HV

MM - glad to hear of Nathan's scoffing. Thought you might like to knwo that Sabela is about the same size as Nathan - though older I think. She used to liekthe DeCecco stelline. I'm amazed by how good she is with chewing in general.

Lucky - PRRRRRrrrrrrr.

Hi Filly - there was no room to put in a link to the thread. W ebroke it with our copious messaging!

Lily - how's the sleeping these days?

Gingeme - glad George's waking has calmed down. We're on jars for a fair bit of food here too, which I never thought I would do . Whatever gets the job done at the end of the day though, isn't it?

Hi Isabella's - Sabela going through a fussy phase too. Sympathy.

Where's Simspon gone?

justkeepswimming · 27/08/2008 10:10

lucky - cats sounds like a great plan (or small furries, tho not my fave animals i can see we might end up with some in the future as 'kids pets')

simpson on hols in holland

well didn't post yesterday, was knackered and dh's birthday so we were busy.
basically ds2 was up from 4-5.30 when i gave in and fed him, he went back to sleep till 8.30
so decided i wuld just feed him again at night as we would all end up with more sleep, then he...... slept through!! x100!
7-6.10 this morning, hoorah!!!
and dh and i went out last night, so bed a bit later than usual, 11-6 though, can't complain!
and dh taken ds1 to nursery, ds2 napping, i've had a lovely bath, so LIFE IS GOOD (oh and i didn't snap once yesterday, a teeny one this morning, so think the real me may be coming back )....

(mostly posting this to reassure myself that i can be positive in a few days time when it all goes tits up again!

right, things to be doing....

madmouse · 27/08/2008 10:31

All right

Nathan cried at midnight. Knowing that he has not fed properly at that time for a while now I just cuddled him without offering boobie. He was a little bit upset but asleep again in five minutes.

Called again at...wait for it...3.45 and slept again until 7

Yahoo!!

Of course I was awake part of the time waiting for him, checking on him and having a very full sore boob. And then dh suggested it may only be because of his jabs

But hey i am optimistic. Surely if he was hungry at 12 he would have woken again at 1 not 4?

madmouse · 27/08/2008 10:33

Lucky, love the phrase small furries

Mice, rats, gerbils what else? Gremlins?

justkeepswimming · 27/08/2008 10:57

well done nathan! and you mm

oooh, i'd love one of those pre-gremlin furry things, soo cute

LuckySalem · 27/08/2008 11:23

I want a pre gremlin. He was cute.

gingeme · 27/08/2008 11:41

Morning ladies. George was sodding about again last night He had a full bottle at 7.15 woke at 1.30 drank another full bottle. Woke again at 5.30 for another bottle took an hour to get back to sleep where he only slept till 7.40 where dh got him up and I had a bit of a lay in. Though dh did say he had a massive up the back pooh so maybe he had a tummy ache. On the plus side we woke to find him standing in his cot grinning away but he gets worried because he doesn't know how to get down again and cries.
Were going to a maize maze this afternoon. Not sure what its all about but going to check it out.
Have a good day all xx

gingeme · 27/08/2008 11:42

Oh I have a mugwai (pre Gremlin) AND IT SINGS [GRIN]

LaTrucha · 27/08/2008 11:51

btw -JKS you are a cutie with your presents!

really trying not to be offended by dd's liking for jarred food. i am a good cook. and how can you mess up pureed veg anyway? I think it's the consistency.

justkeepswimming · 27/08/2008 13:43

a mugwai - yes i wanted one sooo badly when i first saw tha film!

gingeme - did george get himself up to standing? wow! hope the ma(i)ze was fun! i fancy going to one.

LaT - thanks, think he appreciated them, tho the g&t, wine, lovely dinner & £20 on roulette were prob preferable

oh and ds2 now has 8 teeth!! last one through last night/this morning, so maybe now we can all get decent sleep.....
