Hang on in there Lily. Do the minimum - pizza and jarred food for every meal! I can't remember where DD sleeps, but would you get a bit of sleep if you took her into your, nicely empty of DH, bed? I usually feed/get DD to sleep on one side of the bed then scoot over to the other until she wakes again. Any good?

LaTrucha · 15/09/2008 20:17

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

LuckySalem · 15/09/2008 20:39

I'm with LaTrucha on this one. Do the VERY least you have to. Takeaway and co-sleep - if you're worried about rolling onto DD put a pillow between you.

justkeepswimming · 15/09/2008 20:44

poor you lily

sniffle snuffle here, atchoo....sniff sniff

have put a tissue with olbas oil in ds2's room, and will take one to bed with me in a mo. can't breathe!

dh did get up and knows i was unimpressed so no need to say anything. he went to the tip eventually and got my car cleaned inside ! tho i did spot another spider when i went to change over the baby car seat for the next size up for ds2! think he will love facing forward - we noticed yesterday his head was sticking out over the top of the baby one as well as being 19, 11 last week so nearly 20lbs.

right, to bed...and beyond.....(have i been watching too much toy story?....)

Fragolina · 15/09/2008 20:55

When T had colic in the night, I used to waltz T around singing 'Raindrops on roses' (or is it called 'My favourite things'?), and when I'd run out of energy I'd perch on the warm radiator in her room and sway back and forth.

madmouse · 15/09/2008 22:48

Lily sending you a stiff vodka for dcs to help them sleep, glass o wine and a really nice lasagna and chocolate pud for you (bitlate in the evening for that might give you indigestion - make that a bar of chocolate) and a hug.

wish I lived nearby so you could dump them on me for a few hours!

hope you manage

madmouse · 15/09/2008 22:51

jks you need one of these they really work and I actually overcame my fear of the beasts with it, as you catch them at arms length in a transparent tube and you can have a good look. I actually started to find them interesting and now I talk to them and have progressed to catching them with glass and paper. But is is great for arachnophobes as you never have to touch them. i started using them as killing them felt wrong as the fear was all in my head.

MrsMcJnr · 15/09/2008 23:50

WOW! you girls have been chatty!

Simpson ? good plan glad you and DH got to talk, there is so much pressure on relationships with little kids, money worries etc isn?t there?

Bluebell ? congratulations hon!!

Sorry to hear that Lucky don?t shout at me hon but don?t you think you have enough on your plate without foster kittens too? What about time for you? Are you getting any?? I?m sure I speak for us all when I say that we are more than happy to hear your woes on this thread, and you are safe from trolls here too

Madmouse ? how did the counselling go? feeling ok hon?

Hey Housemum Amelie sounds very active ? clearly getting enough energy from her food! PMSL at ?Torn?

Lilyloo ? thanks for your support hon hope all the kids are better!

Gingeme ? hope the sleep improves and how annoying about the man at the door!!!

Hello JKS

Betterhalf ? I know how you feel about the weight I keep starting to diet and then forget

Fragolina ? hope DD is much better now

LaTrucha ? for me its ?Home? by Michael Buble as I played it all the time.

I think Xavier might have crawled the other day!! I opened the gate to the playpen, said as a joke ?come to Mummy? and he did but I?m not quite sure how he did it!! He is an absolute joy.

Seeing as we are all skint ? why don?t we share some money saving/making tips?? Anyone have any??

madmouse · 16/09/2008 08:52

this morning....

Nathan slowly and deliberately lifted his right arm,

opened his hand

and grabbed daddy's finger

this day is just sooooo good!

Hi MrsMc, counselling is good, once I got over my usual what am I doing here, this poor woman must have something better to do than listen to me feeling

six weekly sessions to start with, with creche and all free!

Gingeme · 16/09/2008 09:03

Lilyloo · 16/09/2008 09:49

Thanks ladies took your advice and slept with dd.
She was still up 4-5 times but it just didn't seem as bad as i didn't have to get out of bed to feed her! Also dd 1 had lie in this am so hopefully when she back from pre school her mood will be better!
Thanks for offer MM and the lovely meal

Fragolina · 16/09/2008 12:39

Yay Nathan!!
Yay George!!
Well done lily, hope dd1 comes home from pre-school all cheerful.
Glad counselling went well madm, and its 'the poor woman's job to listen to your feelings, so take full advantage!
Its going to be one of those days - only 15 mins nap in morning, lunch was a punishment and she's now crashed out. hmmm, better start gathering up my energy for this afternoon.

LaTrucha · 16/09/2008 14:23

Glad you had a reasonable night's sleep Lily.

MM - so happy for you. You must be dancing today!

STILL no teeth. Poor baby is so sa.

fillybuster · 16/09/2008 15:17

Well done Nathan !

Go George (But George, please note, what mummy really wants you to do is just skip the 5am wake-ups and go right on through...but if you do need to wake, here's the drill: wake up, drink bottle super-fast, straight back to sleep. No messin'!!! )

Lilyloo - glad the night was a little bit better, but sorry you're still not getting any proper stretches of sleep.

Frag - v amused by your 'fishwife' moment, have sooo been there

MrsMc - crawling???! Wow! Still no movement here, but lots of enthusiastic wiggling on her tummy

JKS - glad dh sorted the car but am a bit about the spiders. At what point do spiders get too hungry and go to live somewhere else? Sorry the nights aren't regular yet, but sounds like you're getting there?

LaT - ugh, teething is awful, isn't it? Sounds as though Sabela is being v brave...just keep on with the calpol (and ibruprofen) to keep her temperature down, and make sure she has enough liquids.

Housemum - welcome back

Betterhalf - hi

Lucky - it sounds as tho things are quite difficult for you at the moment - I can only echo the excellent advice from MM and JKS...don't beat yourself up too much and stop expecting yourself to be perfect - we all have bad days/moments, but you are a really good, really committed mother who spends a lot of time worrying about doing a good job....what more could your dd ask for?

Simpson - sorry things have been tough but it sounds as though its mainly the sleep deprivation that's causing the problems. Isn't it horrid when the little ones get clingy? Btw, my dh did that with ds when we were on holiday in Italy last year...cue very wet sheets when we checked him at midnight and a very dh! Funniest was ds reminding dh to put on his pullups every night after that tho!

Can I have some feeding advice please?

Tamara is turning into a surprisingly picky eater at the moment, a bit of a surprise as ds ate everything easily. She's dropped her lunchtime bottle so is now down to just 3 a day (6 or 7 ozs each time, 5oz at 8am with the rest on her cereal, 4pm and 7.30pm before bed). But this morning she refused her weetabix & fruit (2 spoons) then at lunch totally refused her bolognaise and pasta. And she didn't eat dinner (cauliflower cheese) last night either. So the last thing she ate was avocado and banana mash at lunchtime yesterday...

I won't give her anything else if she isn't eating, so so far today she's had 5ozs milk and that's it. She seems to be fine, wasn't at all whingy after not eating lunch at 12 until I put her to bed at 2.30 (asleep now) but she can't keep on skipping all her meals.... Can she?

Oh, and she's discovered that if she blows a rasberry with a mouth full of food it makes a bit mess [grr]. I don't want to just feed her fruity stuff and yoghurt (which I know she will eat) but don't want her to stop eating either. No idea of her weight as she hasn't been weighed since 4 weeks but she's fairly chubby...

Anyway, suggestions and help appreciated

LaTrucha · 16/09/2008 19:42

Hi Filly - great catch-up.

Sabela has turned picky recently. PArt was bad HV advice, part is, we think, teething (although she's done four enormous poos today so it could have been a tummy problem too). She ate only tiny meals for the last four days and only lunchtime and dinner today did she eat well.

My concern is always to keep her appetite and calories up because she is small and you might not want to go down the routes we have.

We have found that ready-made foods are more acceptable to her when she's like this, although I never thought I'd use them.

Also tomato and cheese, for some reason, are never refused, so we give her this often with something else mixed in the tomato about half and half. If you don't want to give just the things you know she will eat, though, how about trying something she's never had - maybe a finger food she can explore a little bit.

Also, when she's like this, I breastfeed her as much as I can. Then at least I know she's getting calories from milk.

Not sure if any of that is any help.

madmouse · 16/09/2008 20:25

filly are they not supposed to get picky at some point? Nathan at the moment has a preference for jars and works every possible lump out of his mouth. chubby is good, I am sure that to just keep offering a good meal will sort it out eventually.

simpson · 16/09/2008 20:45

Hi

Sorry have not had a chance to read posts.

Just to let you know may not be able to get on internet much. Have left DH and have brought Dcs to my mums.

DH had a breakdown in 2004 and i think he is having another one. It is not safe for me to have the Dcs in the house...

My mum and dad are helping me make sure DH is ok (he is being taken to hosp ATM)

Sorry can't go into more detail right now.

Gingeme · 16/09/2008 20:55

simpson. Take care. Hope all turns out ok whatever you decide

LuckySalem · 16/09/2008 20:57

Oh Simpson - I'm so sorry. We're here if we can help.... I don't know if you do them but HUGS hunny.

Nathan & George - WELL DONE!!

Lilly - Glad last night felt a little better and hope things will improve for you.

MrsMc - I'm not gonna shout at you I'm not sure with the kittens. I was hoping of being able to have an hour in the morning and an hour at night just with them (to help with their socialisation) as ME time as I don't really have friends to go out with or anything BUT I have thought a couple of times of saying no to them but each time I can't make myself. We'll see how things go.

Today was a nice day - esp at babyclub. Aaliyah was crawling around the room following the other babies (VERY SLOWLY) she was giggling and smiling and squealing at them lovely to watch - I think i'm going to have to find other places she can play with them. There is a grp on a Friday but I'm a little scared of being a newbie! lol

She has been alot calmer today until this evening but that was cos she was overtired as hadn't slept all day. The only problems we seem to be having since she's become more mobile and we go out more is getting her to relax and go sleep. I'm sure we'll figure that one soon.

ALSO --- DP isn't braindead!! lol. He realised things were wrong without me telling him and came home today with a card saying I love you and will do more to help, flowers, chocs and a teddy bear!!!

Lilyloo · 16/09/2008 20:59
