Thought I'd start a new thread before we ran out of space! Couldn't remember the exact name suggestion so have paraphrased, the sentiment is still the same though...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PiggyPenguin · 05/09/2008 12:21

Its raining its pouring... (it is the same as its been every day for the past 6 weeks or so then eh?!)

Talking of raincoats. I was in a monsoon the other day and my boden raincoat didn't let in a drop. I was very chuffed, although dd's fifi anorak/raincoat from woolies was crap and she was wet to her pants poor little thing.

I don't think we should blame people for not replying to every post. Sometimes you just can't. Keeping up with the thread is very time consuming but, I'm sure we all agree, valuable, so how about we just make that our goal?

Amberc · 05/09/2008 12:52

Sponge email me : a cutayar @ hotmail dot com all joined up and we'll add you to the list - poppy are you usually on the list too? If not send me your email and I will add it. A x

ThePenguinProject · 05/09/2008 12:58

Poppy / Sponge and anyone else that can make a London meet up, please feel free to email me pommiemcmay at gmail dot com and I'll make sure you're invited to all future meet ups. I'm not overly concerned about anonymity, but I think my email address is the least identifiable....I'm not being a control freak, honest! Well, no more than normal.

So far we have managed to meet in Southfields, Wimbledon, Waterloo and London Bridge so please do email if you can get to any of those places! Day trippers also welcome - c'mon DQ! Alternative venue suggestions also very welcome. I think the plan is for Wimbledon next week...

with essie/sybil/paro - don't think anyone means to offend but think keeping up on thread is best thing .

pp/amberc will email you -would love to join the meet ups...

Am very excited as just taken car out (am worlds most nervous driver)and was ok - also dh home today and won't let me have edie as wants to make up for not seeing her this week so had qutie a free day ... actually missed her so going to do quick post before doing some air guitar wtih her...

sponge..there is no debate in our house as there will be words if edie doesn't support my team rahter than dhs .. have given up my season ticket as too far to travel now to my team but still have rugby season tickest so planning on taking edie tomorrow (have kiddy noise headphones!)... she was not impressed by her first visit to the oval to watch cricket so here is hoping she likes rugby better...

aberdeenhiker · 05/09/2008 17:21

Amber and Penguin and upsidedowncake - thanks for the advice! I'll try pulling the dummy out as soon as he's sleeping and see if that helps. I'm getting resigned to the bad nights now and find that I'm coping okay so even if nothing works we'll survive... I had never thought it could be food, maybe I'll watch what I'm eating though and see.

ernest - glad your ds1 is recovering. I hope he bounces back very quickly. and eek! to your story about the pool poo hunt! Our Ds1 pooped in his swim nappy for the first time a month ago but fortunately they had just got out of the water. DH said it was horrible to clean up though.

amber I've waterproof trousers in the bottom of the buggy - this is the best combo with a hiking style rain jacket I think!

spongebrainbigpants · 05/09/2008 18:14

Thanks PP and Amber, have emailed you and look forward to meeting you both soon.

poppy, I have already bought Alex a Mini Gunners babygro so he'll be an Arsenal fan rather than a Liverpool fan!! However, the match we're going to see is actually Reading cos that's our local club! Can't join on the enthusiasm for cricket or rugby - both bore me to tears, but dh is a big fan so will take him I'm sure!

whinegums · 05/09/2008 19:25

Hi all. Bit disappointed to read the posts about people feeling ignored/flouncing/etc. I agree with what Essie/Paro/others (who I'm sure won't be offended if I don't name them all individually!) said. I am sure no one 'ignores' anyone else, but we are all just too busy/knackered/skim reading. I use this thread to vent, rant and get a bit of light relief, and try to pass on anything useful - which is not much! - where I can.

And of course I have now met the other lovely Scottish ladies - Laura, Katyjo and Drama Queen - through it. Was great to see you all today, even though I was late and flustered thanks to Glasgow's horrific one way system! Hope we can meet again soon. I think our babies are lovely, and I have to tell you after B being super charming he yelled his face off all the way home!

Hope everyone else is well - the boy is yelling again, so better go!

Amberc · 05/09/2008 19:29

Sponge - Luke already has a full arsenal kit my dp bought him. He looks like a thug in it and I told DP to go the whole hog and get his ear pierced!

Aberdeen - sounds like I'd be better off with a canoe in the bottom of the buggy this weekend - due to be a monsoon and I can hear it's already started!

I'm never allowing my child in a baby pool if it's full of seived baby poo . Luke has started pooing 3 times a day so I'm not taking him swimming unti he's on solids!!

spongebrainbigpants · 05/09/2008 20:12

Amber, that's so cool - Luke and Alex were born on the same day and they're both Mini Gunners! We'll have to take them to a match together when they're older! Think I'll pass on the ear piercing though!

hedgehog1979 · 05/09/2008 21:17

Evening all, Parents are here entertaining Isaac so here goes have tried to catch up but as everyone else has said I forget all the time what has happened.

footie kits DH is a liverpool fan and had bought the kit before Isaac was even born, My allegiances change and was wanting to get him a Magpies kit but after all the hiccups maybe wait a while.

amber the swim nappy I have has a net in it to catch the poo so you should be ok
Also second what essie said about looking like you need to go hiking in this weather with regards to waterproofs. You will find they cost an arm and a leg but last for years (I have had mine for 10 and still doesn't leak)

Thanks for the swimming info paro am quite excited to take him now, although DH is upset cos he doesn't get to do it first but he is going away for our wedding anniversary he has forfeited all privileges (sp) at the moment (bitter moi)

Glad you enjoyed your meet up Glasgow Gals, It's always interesting to put a face to a name even if it is a Penguin, Drama Queen or Hedgehog!!

poppy34 · 05/09/2008 21:44

strangely you can't get any mini charlton stuff...a friend has bought mini kit but she'll have to wait til they are back in the conference (ie about 2 years) to wear it

DH supports chelsea - she'd need a white van to go with any chelsea babygro in the unlikely event that hell freezes over and I let her wear one..

Reading all the bits on swimming nappies with some apprehension as hadn't thought about that but we start swimming next week...

hedgehog -how did your dh escape for anniversary? mine also about not being there but has arranged to come to one session - he is very proud daddy having looked after her all day (which has meant that I'm defo second choice parent today )

debinaustria · 05/09/2008 22:44

HI everyone

swim pants - Ethan's are towelling inside with some plastic in there too, been given them by a friend and they are OK, but a bit tight on his chubby thighs!! Haven't tested them for poo yet, and he managed to wait for a wee until I was cuddling him afterwards in his towel without a nappy - nice eh?

Hope everyone's OK, we are absolutely shattered as we are trying to do 9 weeks of day trips in the last 6 days of the boys holidays. We have bought a card which then gives you free entrance to loads of attractions which is why Ernest, Lady Muck took Ethan to the spa for his first swim - it was free Today was another cable car, great children's activities at the top, summer toboggan for the big boys, then down to another swimming pool. 2 more days then we can heave a sigh of relief that we have survived 9 weeks of summer holidays and ds2 starts school!

must go to bed, night all

Amberc · 06/09/2008 07:00

HELP!!! Baby woke at 3.30 for feed and then 5am and wouldn't go to sleep again. I am meant to be going house hunting today and I feel like I am about to drop dead. Plus he wants to be entertained and has been crying if I put him down - mornings like this make me miss my old life to pieces. I would be waking up at around 10 with a hangover which is way easier to deal wit than a screaming 12 week old.

aberdeenhiker · 06/09/2008 07:54

hugs Amber - mornings like that suck. I promise it gets better, I'm holding great hopes for when they hit 6 months.

katyjo · 06/09/2008 09:33

glasgow girls was lovely to meet you and know your not psychos! We do have gorgeous little ones! Whinegums Glad you recovered from your ordeal. bdq So impressed yoyu made it from edinburgh. laura have a lovely wedding*paro well said, totally agree as essie said it could become a chore trying to reply to every single post.

amber Poor you, just keep positive its just a phase. When Mia did that I used to put her on the playmat and kip on the sofa. She is becoming much more predictable and for the last week has slept 12 hours a night with a dream feed at 11 and is only a few weeks older than luke so hopefully things will settle down soon and you'll get a bit of your old life back. x

spongebrainbigpants · 06/09/2008 10:35

Amber, really sorry to hear that Luke's been so unsettled overnight . Is your dh not around today to give you some respite so you can get some sleep?

Hope he has a better day.

poppy34 · 06/09/2008 14:22

oh god amber..poor you...(although not sure that I agree re hangover as was getting progressively more rubbish re drink pre baby ) - katyjomakes a good point - if not the playmat will he sit in rocker/swing -that seems to work better here..that said she is now going pink in face with rage as I not picking her up

Amberc · 06/09/2008 18:47

Hi all, did get an hour's sleep with earplugs when DP looked after him and then went house hunting. He won't really play on the playmat for too long on his own as he's the kind of baby that needs constant attention. He HATES the chair! The Londoners who have met him will vouch for his restlessnss and his lungs! Saw some amazing properties which means that the tenants we have found will probably change their mind as it's sods law.

Amberc · 06/09/2008 18:48

PS Not many posts today!

poppy34 · 06/09/2008 18:52

glad you snatched a break amber - wehre are you looking (if I'm not too nosey)?

had quiet day as didnt' go to rugby -weather too shit to risk the sling and I've got a sore throat/cold... like luke edie lurves attention -which is draining but on the plus side after 30 odd years found someone who loves my singing

Parofleurmapu · 06/09/2008 18:58

Gosh ! its been quite on here today!!!!
Hello!!!!!...(paro watches tumbleweed fly past...)

Amber - think Fleur is lukes twin!!! She is ok at night and settles but hates her chair since yesterday!!! She really wants to sit up and gets frustrated when she cant, on tummy wants to crawl too!!! She did roll over today! from tummy to back. Think she is intelecctually more developed and that her poor old physical side cant cope!!!

Glad you found some houses,

I spent the day searching for wedding venues and ive found one and have set a date!!! 14th July 2009, dont know if you guys remember it was going to be before Fleur was born but then everything happened with DP;s mum so we postponed it but its all go now!!!

poppy34 · 06/09/2008 19:00

that good re venue paro - I assume its the same as here that good places get booked up dead early. am now worried as fleur/luke bit older than edie so don't want edie getting any ideas as I'd be lost without her rocker..

Agree re being dead on here -have been lurkign all afternoon but wasn't about to post in teh tumbleweed like some saddo.

Parofleurmapu · 06/09/2008 19:11

Hehe!!!!

Were having it in England as my granparents are all quite elderly so cant travel and its nearer for DP folks too.

poppy34 · 06/09/2008 19:14

[all excited about paros wedding] -so what have you got to get next - have you got your dress sorted? and of course fleur will be able to have something super cute as she'll be a ig girl by then...
