YCBS: I can sympathise with your back being sore, every now and again I hurt my back and it is the worst feeling in the world, would rather go through labour and c-sections.

thefortbuilder · 19/08/2008 11:10

ycbs do you have some of those pad things that heat up? or some tiger balm? you poor thing

on the toilet front with ds1 - no pull ups today, i'm putting my foot down, and after one massive accident early on when he was in the bathroom when dh had his shower, all ok so far (cue me leaving when he does a pee in 2 secs!)

sam has no new spots so that is something and if any of your lo's get it, a tip i've been given is bicarb in the bath helps stop infection and eases the itching

must away - out to lunch with my old boss today, don't get excited i'm not going near that office ever again

Pina - sorry you are feeling down....I'm sure the weather has a lot to do with it (personally, I love this time of year - I think it's because it reminds me of the time I went to Uni, it was the first time I felt free - My parents were very very strict!) Plus I find that little things can really mount and make you feel down... Can you not exchange the dress? Or did you have to wash it? I think I remember it got stained? It's crap not having spare cash - shopping is the one thing gauranteed to cheer a girl up!

Apart from my back, I'm feeling good today - I've got someone coming to pick up the Mamas and Papas buggy (which I HATE!!!!) which just leaves me with the Quinny one I got at the weekend (which I LOVE!!!) and I've found a home for all the clothes Harry has grown out of, so DH will come home to a decluttered dining room. That's probably the best birthday present I could get him!!!

Mitchell81 · 19/08/2008 14:36

Pina: Sorry you are feeling down love. Remember I have no life so always around on facebook, if you want to chat. Fingers crossed weather is good for you on saturday and remember you are doing all this for your precious daughter. Have you been to the doc to talk about how you are feeling?

YCBS well done you and getting everything sorted and getting rid of it all. What quinny did you buy? I have the zapp and speedi. Zapp personally I don't think it is a great buggy as it can't carry shopping or baby bag without feeling like any minute it will topple over. Great for travelling as will fit in overhead locker of plane so don't have to worry about having no buggy at the airport and so small it fits with ease in any boot. DS2 is using speedi base with carrycot and carseat and will use normal seat when 6 + months.
Seeing that I am talking about prams, anyone know anything about the Jane 3 wheeler double buggy? Thinking that I might need one in afew months as I can not trust DS2 when in town and shopping to not run off. And DS will get to heavy for the bjorn and will want to be in a buggy. I do have the buggyboard and buggypod but he can jump off the buggy board if I am not paying attention and the buggypod makes it to wide for shops. Fine for outdoor walking.

Flick hope you enjoyed your lunch, Are you going to go back to work?

Anyway better go as need to unpack the shopping from the car before DD gets home from school. Just heard that schools might be closed tomorrow due to a strike, had no idea. I hope we find out before the morning.

takingitasitcomes · 19/08/2008 14:44

Hi everyone, I've only posted once on here before (I only ever seem to manage to read the last posts on this thread before ds wakes/cries or whatever so I don't get to add my two pennies' worth).

I agree with YCBS that the weather is making life gloomy at the moment. It is soooo much nicer spending time walking the streets with ds in the buggy or sling (the only places he'll nap at present) when the sun is out than on wet days like we've had recently. I've just come in from a buggy sleep, absolutely soaked from the waist down and with hair that makes me feel like a wet dog as I can't manage an umbrella and the buggy. DS had a good snooze though! Not exactly the sunny vision of motherhood I had imagined when I first worked out that he'd be a May baby.

Somehow it helps to know you're all coping with similar stuff right now. Also good when those of you who are on ds/dd2 or 3 mention that it does all get easier after a while. Gives me strength. Thanks all!

youcannotbeserious · 19/08/2008 14:51

Mitchell - I got the Zapp, but that's what I wanted. I hardly ever use a buggy, much prefer the carrier (Have a bjorn baby sling) but DH prefer the buggy, so the zapp is great for us, as we can take it on holiday and DH can use it. I don't do supermarkets!

Hope you are all well!

FLick hope you had a good lunch! Do you have somewhere in mind to meet next Wednesday?

LM Hope you are feeling OK (and PIna too)

My back is still in agony, couldn't even do any baby massage this morning, so poor old Harry is a bit bored, I'm afraid.

His Baby gym has broken so I'm going to get him a new one... I'd like something as interactive as possible as Harry loves to be flat on his back... Anyone got any preferenes?

YCBS xx

asicsgirl · 19/08/2008 15:13

hallo all

ycbs sorry your back is bad. are you going to a physio/ osteopath? i have a genius osteopath who i recommend to everyone but he'd be a bit of a trip for you!! hope it settles down soon.

takingitasitcomes ikwym about the wet walks! i can still just about zip my waterproof up round ds2 in his baby bjorn so he stays reasonably dry. dp bought me a waterproof hat which is brilliant (no brolly required) and i have been known to go out in waterproof trousers... i wear my walking boots everywhere too... so much for being a yummy mummy! but at least i am dry and happy

pina sorry you are feeling low. organising big social events is really stressful, that probably doesn't help does it. hope you have a lovely day - it'll be over soon and you can look back and feel proud of yourself for doing it!

Mitchell81 · 19/08/2008 15:31

YCBS: are you going to use it with a carseat or carrycot?

youcannotbeserious · 19/08/2008 15:42

I have both, but mainly the car seat... Why?

Mitchell81 · 19/08/2008 15:56

No reason, I was just looking at the brochure and it said that you can't use the seat part until 6 months.

youcannotbeserious · 19/08/2008 16:12

I have a flat bit (cot?) and the car seat which can be used now and then the buggy can be used from 6MO...

But we really want to use the car seat.

We took it out at the weekend and it was great. SOOOOOO much better than the M&P thing I was using!!!

Mitchell81 · 19/08/2008 16:32

Glad that you found one you liked, it does take afew to get through before you find the best one. I have 3 old ones in the garage that I must really get rid of.

youcannotbeserious · 19/08/2008 19:09

Yep, agree.... THe Quinny one is probably not for everyone but right for us...

youcannotbeserious · 19/08/2008 19:15

So, Ladies... what do you think of

here

It's a bit souless, but we're only renting and it's pretty cheap, good area etc.,

Really not sure if we should stay in our small (but period!) place or move and have bags of space....

what do you reckon?

Poor old Harry Headbanger is a bit bored with me today - I have been super slow but have made an appt. with the osteopath in case I feel the same tomorrow....

thefortbuilder · 19/08/2008 19:29

to whoever asked NO i am not going back to work - i've been out of it for nearly 2.5 years so far too used to being a sahm! good fun with my old boss though - he's a lovely guy and loves sushi and white wine even more than i do!

then went to meet another old friend of mine for a glass of wine and meant to be going back out buy not sure i can be bothered...

ycbs - how about one of the places in duke of york square next wednesday?

OP posts:
youcannotbeserious · 20/08/2008 05:57

Well, I'm feeling and a bit this morning.

My back has been awful, so last night I had a bath with Harry, took two paracetamols and went to bed when I put Harry down... Couldn't sleep, so had two glasses of wine (which were lovely!) and went back to bed... Very cosy and more relaxed... Unti the phone rang at 9:30 and a livid DH wanted to know why I hadn't picked up for 40 minutes... - I hadn't heard the phone... Obviously he was worried sick but when I told him what had happened, he was really mad with me.... So feeling that I couldv'e been so stupid and have just been obsessing about 'what if Harry had needed me', 'what if I hadn't heard him' all night... and DH is still mad with me this morning...

And to to it off, my back is still as bad as ever....

Sorry for long depressed rant...

asicsgirl · 20/08/2008 09:04

oh ycbs poor you. i'm absolutely sure you would have heard harry if he'd woken up and needed you. sounds corny but we really do have a sixth sense i think. i sleep like an absolute log - dp has been known to physically climb over me out of bed to go to the loo and not disturb me, and i sleep through storms etc - but i still wake up if one of the dcs stirs. try not to worry!

and i think dh is BU for givign you a hard time when you are already beating yourself up

have a better day today. hope the osteo sorts you out. i love my osteo, he has this very dry sense of humour.

ds1 has just completed his first sticker chart! things like 'washing my hands happily' and 'having my hair washed happily'. some of them were a bit of a struggle to achieve [mummy in tears of frustration emoticon] but he has done it and is completely made up with his prize (an ELC rocket ) what a starry boy

off into the bath now while ds2 still asleep!

i didn't go back out - was actually so very tired!

pina i think you need to talk to your tax office tbh to get the best advice! it's all much too confusing for me

ycbs - don't beat yourself up dh's do a much better job of making you feel guilty! and you would have woken if harry needed you - asics is right we do have a 6th sense when it comes to dc's.

hey ladies
i have posted a few times before back in may but post baby all i can manage is having a quick read before my dd starts again.

two quick points

to all the ladies that have been feeling down , you should definatly go speak to someone, iv been feeling down for a while now and have only just plucked up the courage to speak to someone - i spoke to my health visitor and she has refered me see a gp tomorrow. having spoken to her yesterday really gave me the courage to open up dp (not thats he is unapproachable, i just felt like he has enough to deal with without worry about me iykwm)

secondly giving that i live in scotland im rather used to the rain im stumbled across this www.buggybrolly.com fast reliable service and a godsend for when im out with the pram and the kids i look after

happy rainy days x

asicsgirl · 20/08/2008 12:43

pina re nappies at night - i don't think there is enything you can 'do' to make it happen, it just depends when the child is ready. is dd1's nappy dry most mornings? does she wake up and ask to go for a wee in the night? if so it might be worth giving it a go. we put bed pads under the sheet, quite quick and easy to change if accidents happen. ds1 just announced he didn't want a nappy at night and he was dry for about a week, but then he started waking up wet in middle of night - i think he was sleeping so deeply he didn't realise he needed a wee iyswim. it was when ds2 had just arrived and it was too exhausting changing sheets in the middle of the night as well as getting up for ds2 so we put ds1 back in pull-ups (he didn't mind ). we need to gird our loins and give it another go tho'!

why are you going to bed so late? are you doing all your chores?

shonnomanom how brilliant is that buggy brolly! i've got a waterproof hat which i love, but it's not very yummy mummy...! really glad you went to gp. it can feel like such a huge step but it's always good to get professional opinion i think.

where is lm74? she's not been on since mon. bit worried as she said she was feeling down...

youcannotbeserious · 20/08/2008 13:28

Pina I agree with Asics - My DSD2 was in nighttime nappies until she was 4, it was a big security thing with her (even now (she's 10) she likes to sleep with the door open and the light on...

I'd like to give you loads of useful tips, but I think all you can do is let the child take it in their own time. For us, it was sleepovers - DSD2 didn't want to wear nappies when her friends (dry!) were there. It'll come in time.

I'm afraid I'm a bit sceptical about the buggy brolly... It's the sort of thing I'd buy but then never use!! Maybe it's just me, but these things never seem to work for me like they do in the advertising literature!! (maybe it's just me! )

Also a bit concerned about LM - I've sent you an e-mail... Hope you are OK?

luckymummy74 · 20/08/2008 13:58

I'm OK. Just still feeling so not very chatty. Thanks for your concern.
