Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
leifmum · 01/09/2008 19:17

that sounds good hersetta. i've seen a couple of episodes of that and really enjoyed it. is jane asher still in it? i found her a bit irritating to be honest!

poor james! i hope his little bottom improves soon. must be so miserable for them when that happens.

sorry you're a bit down conker. i remember at this stage with dd my emotions and moods were all over the place. every time i sneezed i paicked that the bean would fall out. sounds so daft now but at the time.....

must go and bath the grubby one. dh has been lookiing after her today and says she's been so clingy it's unbelievable. i'm just pleased that finally he's had a day like that!

My2 · 01/09/2008 20:46

hi all - my baby is walking she's still wobbly but goes from one side of the room to the other giggling away. i can't believe how grown up she is already. think her bottom eye teeth are now coming through as her sleeping has gone to pot again. last night she had me up for 2 hours - had to cuddle her to sleep. but she just wanted to talk, and if i ignored her she sat bolt upright, turned my face to her and said 'gabba, gabba, gabba, gabba' then grinned

i'm off to london for a meeting on wed - will need to leave the house about 5am. so i'm really hoping that she sleeps tuesday night!

i've been skim reading everyone's news - but not had much time to post.

conker - how are you now? were you like this with struan early on?

james - how's his bum? poor wee thing, he's maybe irritated his bowels/colon, have yout tried not giving dairy products?

hersetta have a good time!

gill - i really hate having to take both of them to get the food shopping. i've got to admit i try hard to do it online - rather than trail them round. dd1 has me wrapped round her wee finger and i always end up buying them magazines or toys.

uki - sorry to hear you've all been ill - hope you are all on the mend.

i've forgotten everything else i was going to say.....typical.

My2 · 01/09/2008 20:47

oh...and i've uploaded a latest photo on the beach

meandmyjoe · 01/09/2008 21:18

Oh my goodness My2, your girls are so gorgeous an dd2 looks so grown up! My ds is so tall but still has such a baby face and really short (but thick) hair! He looks such a baby but on a toddlers body, especially when he walks around, from behind he looks about 2, but when he turns round, he looks just the same as he did at 6 months!

James, hope J's bum is better soon. Must be very painful for him .

Hersetta, I'm very of your trip to see Maestro, I'd love to go watch something like that! Hope you have a great time!

Conker, glad to hear the pg is prgressing well. I was a complete hormonal, puke wreck for the first 16 weeks of my pg, I felt fine one minute, floods of tears the next. I had complications with spina bifida on scan and blood results showed a high risk so we didn't tell anyone but my sister that I was pregnant til 16 weeks when I finally got the all clear. Thankfully I didn't start to show til about 22 weeks so I think people must have just thought I was bonkers for being so emotional when they had no idea I was pregnant! I'm sure you're just having a down day and things will be much better in the morning.

Well, Joe had the mother of all tantrums in town today. Grumpy so and so! We had a meeting to upgrade our bank account. He was sat on my lap in the bank but got bored and wanted to toddle off and explore. I held his hand and we walked to the door whilst dh stayed sat down waiting, anyway, Joseph saw some pigeons out side and he wanted to go out and see them. I kept hold of his hand and said "no, we'll go and see them after the meeting", he tried to wriggle away and whinged so I picked him up and took him back in the bank. With that, he arched his back and squealed at the top of his voice and was throwing himself around. I sat down with him and just held him, he screamed and kicked, then threw himself backwards so I nearly dropped him. I tried to distract him with a toy, then a snack. I told him I understood he was frustrated but that we only had a minute to wait, still he continued.... then I just ignored him ! I wasn't really sure what else to do! People were looking at me like I had the baby from hell .

Anyway, he's been fine since then but wow if he's like this now, I dread to think what he'll be like a year from now!

Hersetta · 02/09/2008 08:32

My2 - your DD2 looks so grown up - and the hair!! I'm very as you can actually style it. Caitlin's is at that awkward length where it generally just looks messy.

The recording of maestro was very good - really very interesting. Didn't take very long at all, they did it live as it appears on screen really and only after the end of the show did they have to do a couple of Clive Anderson re-takes where he said the wrong word or name etc.

Joe - i keep wondering that. they throw pretty good tantrums now, so what are ther terrible two's going to be like. Heaven help us!.

just jumping in for a moan.... hospital phoned and bradleys op is on monday!! wtf? dont they understand that dp has too get off work, i have to get kids minded and its ds2s bday on wed

leifmum · 02/09/2008 16:53

tasha - that's a bit unfair of them to give you such short notice? was it like that last time? must be scary for you guys, what will they do in this op?

knickers - how are you doing? how have things been since the weekend? hope you are all ok.

well dd had her mmr today. thought i'd be taking her on my own but luckily dh got off work early so he could play bad cop! she screamed sooo much, especially for the second jab and you could see her really kicking with her leg to try and get away, not sure i'd have been able to hold her. still brought tears to my eyes but as soon as i cuddled her she stopped crying and so far has been fine. let's hope it stays that way!

will try and put some recent photos on my profile. she still has very little hair and i'm getting fed up of people thinking she's a boy, even when she's clearly wearing girl's clothes!!

leifmum · 02/09/2008 17:12

photos added!

meandmyjoe · 02/09/2008 19:26

Glad you enjoyed Maestro Hersetta! Sounds like a good night out.

Bloody hell Tasha, that doesn't give you much time for preparation. Hope it all works out well and that Bradley is soon home and well.

Leif, your dd is such a cutie, deffinitely a girl, she is so pretty! I get people asking whether ds is a girl or boy, soemtimes I say he's called Josephine and he's a girl just to amuse myself. Will have to stop this before I give him a complex though! Why do they bother asking when he's in blue trousers and a little blue t-shirt with cars or trucks on it??!!!

Anyway, not much to write really, just put Joseph down to bed. He's eaten hardly anything today: 8oz bottle this morning, nibbled on some toast for breakfast, had a few chunks of jacket potato and cheese for lunch, a teeny tiny bit of grilled chicken and sweetcorn with 1 mouthful of yogurt for tea. 5 oz milk at bedtime and that that's it! Normally he scoffs all day but I think he could be getting another tooth. It's hard to know with BLW how much they are actually meant to be eating but he normally eats more than that.

Anyway, gonna go and watch the soaps!

hi everyone - thanks for the hugs/sympathy etc. Feeling happier today - got loads of ms with ds but not until about week 7 or 8 so it could all still come yet (6+5 today). Having the strong smell thing though.

my2 - well done on the walking. there'll be no stopping her now . struan is walking around holding one hand but not quite ready to take off on his own yet. might not be long though.

he's totally fascinated by books just now - cant get enough of them. we have to read hippos day and dear zoo and the pig of happiness 10 times each in a row (before i hide them when he's not looking).

maestro sounds great hersetta - an of you doing adult things - we need to get out more.

hope joes teeth dont take too long to come through.

leifmum - good to hear that no ill effects from mmr - ds has his next thursday and dh is away at a conference so am hoping its not too bad. and lol at the sneezing thing.

great pictures everyone - our little babies are all growing up

GillL · 03/09/2008 12:08

Hello. Not much to report here. We're making progress on the early waking though. Touch wood - Alex hasn't woken before 6 in the last week and he's woken at 7 the last 2 mornings

Hersetta - glad you all enjoyed your day and night out. Hope the party goes well. Loved the pictures. Katelyn's hair was like that when she was a baby although a bit shorter. She wants to grow it now, even her fringe. That's not going to be fun.

Well done My2's dd2. I know it means he won't really be a baby anymore but I can't wait for Alex to walk. He is so heavy that I struggle to carry him. My mum's front garden is really long so I'd love to be able to just hold his hand while he walks up the path.

Ds has got his mmr on 9th september. Dh is taking him so I can stay oblivious at work. Last time he was going to take him and then had to do something for work. This time he has put it in his calendar at work so he doesn't double-book himself

Ds isn't really that bothered about bottles of milk anymore. Yesterday morning he just played with it. I took it away and kept offering but ended up giving him cereal. I didn't even bother with the bottle this morning and gave him cereal again. Perhaps it's time to get rid of them.

Dd was often mistaken for a boy as a baby even when dressed from head to toe in pink.

Glad you're feeling happier today conker

conkertree · 03/09/2008 13:03

any tips for the sleeping in gill?

I am having quite a few problems with sleep still - ds did get to a stage of only waking at 4am, having a feed and sleeping till about 6am, which is fine although i'd love to drop the 4am feed too.

the last few nights, he has screamed and screamed at about 1.30 - dh has gone in to him, but tried loads and not been able to settle him, so taken him to our bed, and as soon as I cuddle him, he stops crying and goes to sleep (after much turning round and over and lying on me in different ways to get comfy) - not needing milk until the usual 4am feed.

dont want to leave him on his own if he's upset, but would also prefer not to get him into the habit of always coming in with us.

just not sure how to get out of both that and feeding him at all over night (i have tried just not feeding or stretching it out but so far it just results in him being so upset that i dont think its worth it).

sorry long post and have posted elsewhere but just wondered if anyone has any tips.

ds has always been a bad sleeper so am just hoping that this new bean is a sleep fan.

GillL · 03/09/2008 14:46

I don't have any tips I'm afraid conker. Does he feed for long? Dd was still waking in the night for milk at this age. I knew she wanted milk because I'd taught her the baby sign for it. Fortunately she would go straight back to sleep afterwards. She's also been through phases of waking in the night and coming into bed with us. I just let her because I didn't want to have to deal with screaming in the middle of the night. She grew out of it and I'm sure your ds will too. Hope it starts to improve soon though. I bet dc2 will be better. My ds hasn't given me half the sleep problems that dd did. They're all so different.

GillL · 03/09/2008 14:48

Also, I was thinking that he's sleeping in later because the sun is rising later. I mentioned this to dh this morning but he didn't agree. I think it's more than a coincidence. Annoyingly, it doesn't matter when he wakes up, I always wake before him. It worked in my favour yesterday though as I forgot to set the alarm.

Haven't had time to read through much but last couple of posts - so my suspicions were right - congratulations conker! Try not to worry too, much enjoy your ds and the time will soon pass until you feel fat and unable to move for baby!

Tasha - hope monday goes OK.

Was my first day back at work yesterday. Found it really hard to leave ds2 but he seems happy enough at nursery. He's had a sleep and eaten both days so he can't be too unhappy. Had a completely fantastic holiday in France and got back on Sunday. Even the 15 hour drive up was worth the relaxing poolside sunny week.

Hopefully find an hour to catch up with the thread and find out how every one is!

lizziemun · 03/09/2008 20:48

James,

Thanks for asking (although a while ago. Wireless modem thing whatsit broke and dh won't allow me to use his computers as i am useless). But i am fine i had my scan last week and am 13+2 weeks.

Conker i have never had morning sickness with any of my pregancies.

leifmum · 04/09/2008 08:27

hi everyone! just a quick post as i'm at work and need to go get changed in a minute! still no side effects from mmr although dd has been ultra clingy! my sister's got her for 10 hours today so hopefuly she'll stay happy!

looking forward to going down to cornwall tomorrow. think as i walk out the door and leave dd behind will be the worst part then hopefully i'll be able to just get on and enjoy.

dh's grandad is still in hospital. apparently the cancer has gone to his back (assume they mean spine?) so things may go downhill quite quickly from here. guess we just have to take it day by day.

hope everyone has good weekend!

meandmyjoe · 04/09/2008 10:55

Hi all,

Hope you and the babies are all well.

Leifmum, sorry to hear about dh's grandad. Hope dh is OK (or as OK as he can be )

Lizzie, hoping the pg is going well! You are very lucky not to get ms! Hope the scan was OK, it reminds me of how exciting this stage of pg was! Seeing your baby for the first time and looking forward to feeling the first kicks. Arrrgggh I am so broody it's ridicullous!

Anyway, Joseph has been eating non stop this morning but his next tooth still isn't through, he seems to be quite strange with his teething and go off his food about a week before the tooth actually pokes through but then pigs out the week it actually arrives .

Right, better go.

x

GillL · 04/09/2008 13:24

Hello. I noticed this morning that ds has cut his second tooth. It's the top right front which is directly above the first one so I guess he used that to help cut it through. I didn't even know he had another one coming so I assume he didn't suffer that much (not like the first one). Come to think of it, that could explain why he kept waking an hour or 2 after going to bed for a few nights recently.

He tried to take a few steps on his own last night. So far we've been encouraging him by facing him towards each other and helping him balance but yesterday he just let go of dh's leg and tried to walk towards me. I'll have to get him some shoes when we get paid.

Hi loler. Glad you had a good holiday. Did you take the dcs? If so, are you mad driving for 15 hours??? Ds got fed up after 1 1/2 hours and screamed the rest of the way home from my sisters. Hope you're settling back into work well. I can't believe I've been back at work for 9 months since having ds.

Sorry to hear about your dh's grandad leifmum. Hope your dh is doing ok and they're keeping his grandad as comfortable as possible. Hope you have a great time in Cornwall.

Uki · 04/09/2008 13:50

Hi All

thanks for the well wishes, we are definately all 100% now yay!!!!

sounds like lots of you are back at work, makes me feel better about also having to be away from LL for 6 nights not easy at all

leif - love all your pics, dd has beautiful big blue eyes, hope dh are DGD are OK

Conker- I'm sure you'll be feeling glowing and radiant soon. we don't get the best sleep here yet either, just woken up again....grr

conkertree · 04/09/2008 21:20

hi everyone. lying on the sofa watching old episodes of cold feet. no wine but hot chocolate is almost as good. hope everyone's had a good day.

GillL · 05/09/2008 14:11

What a miserable day. I think it's supposed to rain most of the weekend too so not much chance of getting the kids out of the house except for a trip to the library. I'm not sure why I bother tbh. I have to choose the books for dd (she just wants to play) and she never wants me to read them to her, or certainly not more than once. She loves stories but only wants Peppa Pig at the moment.

Sounds lovely conker. Hope you had a good
night's sleep.

Anyone know how to get banana stains out of clothes? I got ds out of the highchair yesterday evening and didn't realise he had banana on his top, which then got smeared all over my top. I put it in the wash straight away but it didn't come out. So I sprayed Vanish on it and then put it back in the wash but the stain is still there.
