Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MKG · 18/08/2008 13:21

Charley-I know they are aerodynamic, but I don't think they'd survive the trip over they ocean. If they did though, I should so work for NASA.

charleymouse · 18/08/2008 13:29

Caught it MKG cheers.

Watch out for reports of UFOs later

MKG · 18/08/2008 13:31

NASA here I come.

Hi ladies jsut a quick one as the house has turnied into one mass nightmare!

Weekend was lovely and the weather was good to us. Was nice to spend some time together (when dh wasnt taking pictures or looking at the cars ) without the children. Didnt really talk too much but tings seem to look brighter, i guess just keeping the channels open is the key.

Had a phone call from friends looking after the kids at about 7.30pm on Sat in tears saying that she had curbed one of the alloys on my X5 and was so very sorry etc etc followed by a call at 8.30pm saying that our house alarm was going nuts even though it hadnt been set! So spent the next 2 hours talking to the alarm company trying to get them to look at it. Managed to silence it but leaving it doing an annoying bleep every 30secs. Thought i would leave it til today as it would save on whopping call out charges. Also the electrics were tripping downstairs and they had had to run an extension cable from the kitchen to the lounge in order to watch the tv. When we got home at 11pm last night they told us that they had had the same problems again that day but had managed to get the alarm to switch off. Went to bed with finges crossed that all would be ok only to be woken at 01.50am to the alarm going full pelt AND totally unable to turn it off! it wouldnt accept my code and resulted in an engineer coming out at 2.30am to try and disconnect it. Got back to bed at 3am with ds as he had woken (E did not). Got up at 7am with the dc's to find no hot water or heating! Apparently the alarm, boiler and the left side of the house electrics are all on the same main! So have spent today with an electrician who couldnt say for sure what it was, waiting for the alarm engineer and someone from Dolphin (who i think the problem stems back to). We are going crazy! All i wanted this morning was a nice bath and hair wash and all i got was a quick wash down because the water was like ice! Arrrrggggghhhhhhhh

AprilMeadow · 18/08/2008 13:50

CM thank you for the yummy goodies that you sent me. The tea loaf is totally scrummy

MKG · 18/08/2008 13:54

AM--did at any moment you think to yourself "Is there a hidden camera, am I on tv" Because it sounds like one of those situations.

TillyScoutsmum · 18/08/2008 14:09

Day 10 in the non smoking house (to be said in broad Geordie accent a la Big Brother ). ! We're still not smoking and haven't killed each other. Result !

I "won" (ha ha ha) my wedding shoes on ebay yesterday. I have red Jimmy Choos and I am very excited. Easily pleased ? Moi ? Noooo

Tilly has a stinking cold atm and is not sleeping well. I have the period from hell and that combined with no sleep is a real killer. I feel like I could sleep for a week. I need to get on the Wii Fit for my daily fix but am really struggling to be bothered.

I was on a May birth board on another forum and occasionally pop on to see how everyone is doing. One of the ladies there who had twins in May 07 is now pg again and has just had her 12 week scan and...... yup, you guessed it.... its twins again . So - she'll have 4 children under 2 !! Brings me out in a cold sweat just thinking about it

JamInMyWellies · 18/08/2008 17:18

AM glad you had a good wkend.

Tilly hurrah well done keep at it. Even bigger huzzah on the shoes ooh lala Jimmy Choos, lusting after them show us a pic.

CAQL not listening to tales of glorious weather tis bloody minging here.

Charely woohoo you must be a shoe in.

MKG chuck some of those pancakes this way.

TillyScoutsmum · 18/08/2008 19:06

Here are my choos !

Just hope they blardy fit now

JamInMyWellies · 18/08/2008 21:07

ooh they are lush.

Themasterandmargaritas · 19/08/2008 07:52

Tilly who cares if they don't fit they look blardy marvellous.

April, sounds like a mare, I can sympathise as our fence alarm has gone off 3 nights in a row, caused by god knows what kind of creature trying to get through, in the middle of the night and then trying to get the guard to pinpoint where and fix it before turning it on again. Sometimes if the power has been off or the water runs out we too have a lack of hot water. See you could be living in Africa I warned you about those bloody Dolphin people.... get your scariest voice on and give em hell.

charleymouse · 19/08/2008 10:51

Lovely shoes TSM.

Hopefully Jam hopefully.

Something must be going off as we had power cut last night.

MKG they were delish. [licking lips emoticon] what are you flinging me this morning?

Oh good AM, sorry I forgot to put the parkin in the package it is sat on my desk now (winking at me). Hendersons relish is lurvely as well, I like a splash in my gravy (so much nicer than Lea and Perrins). I so wanted to eat one of the bakewell puddings. Apparently they will last about a week and they were fresh on Friday - like that is going to happen they are scrummy . They are nice warmed up in oven/microwave with cream/icecream. Oh drooling now at thought of it.

Does anyone else want any Northen Delights sending on?

Abby glad you had a good holiday, Proud mummy moment re the walking , well done R

SKY how you feeling now a bit better I hope.

12YG is it too early to talk dirty? Not getting any at the mo as DH is to numptyish.

Oh DD has lice/nits, I have used tea tree shampoo and conditioner and combed but I spotted some more teeny tiny ones this morning so pulled them out. DH insists it is neglect/abuse on my part and that we should use some sort of noxious chemical but I am reluctant, this week is the first time she has ever used shampoo so did not feel comfortable dousing her head with chemicals but what do I do? I have put the bedding in on a hot wash this morning so hopefully will get any residue out of that.

LG&T are you still doing it?

twelveyeargap · 19/08/2008 12:16

Comb, comb, comb wet hair with a Nitty Gritty Comb. Many head lice in the UK are now resistant to pesticides anyway. Comb each day until you are no longer getting any eggs or lice then comb every 5 days or so to ensure nothing has hatched from any missed eggs.

AprilMeadow · 19/08/2008 14:34

WOO HOO i have heating and hot water. There are 2 faults but the electrician has managed to isolate where they are and get most things back working. Back out next Tues to fix it properly

AprilMeadow · 19/08/2008 14:35

FYI its LG&T's birthday tomorrow

charleymouse · 19/08/2008 14:35

12YG just checking in and have just got back from Boots with the aforementioned item great minds think alike. I looked at all the pesticides and thought yuck. The annoying thing is I bought a pack of 2 combs (albeit only a few quid) last week and the prongs/tines (don't know what you call 'em) are too far apart. Only really good for looking not dragging out. I also have a "proper" metal comb somewhere already just can't find the thing. Blardy moving house. Harumph. Still pissed for DH thinking it is tantamount to abuse/neglect that she still has a few eggs/lice FGS. Half the stuff in Boots said a week/fortnight to get clear with the cycle of lice/eggs/nits etc.

G back at the hospital tomorrow for eye test, don't think there is anything wrong but nice to know he is getting checked over for potential problems.

Meggle spotted you on another thread, get your but over here.

MKG · 19/08/2008 17:06

Sorry CM all I got this morning was nausea. You wanna share it with me?

AprilMeadow · 19/08/2008 18:38

JamInMyWellies · 19/08/2008 19:46

AM really glad you got the house sorted.

Themasterandmargaritas · 19/08/2008 20:00

Bah humbug. How about a live webcast from Meadows Mansion?

MKG, all that nausea, its looking good for a pink 'un I baked scone type things today... J stole his sister's and she wasn't impressed.

Charley, sounds like the job is alllll yours. Can you find me one now? Sorry about dd's visitors, better get dh to check you out too otherwise you may end up with an embarassing hairdressers situation eh Pebble?

Let's hope the Big Momma gets a good birthday celebration tomorrow. If you are reading this then HAPPY BIRTHDAY LG&T for tomorrow!

Just taken Granny to the airport She does witter on a bit, but we will be sorry to see her go. Only two more weeks of school holidays left to go .

AprilMeadow · 19/08/2008 20:14

oh bugger JAM!! Surely you should be coming home early......

Do you have webcam TMAM?? I can start ours up and see if we can see you......

OOh yes MKG that could mean a pink one!

Fingers crossed for the job Charley

Themasterandmargaritas · 19/08/2008 20:29

I do!! But my connection is off and on and as slow as anything at the moment, I think if I use the webcam it might blow up totally. Hopefully i will change providers before your big weekend and then we can hang out together. Especially as dh won't be here as he is climbing Kilimanjaro with all the people from all their worldwide offices followed by a swish company conference at a secret location in Kenya.

AprilMeadow · 19/08/2008 21:31

Just texted LG&T to see al was ok and had forgotten that she is in the Cotswolds at the moment hence the lack of posts! She sends big hugs to you all x

AbbyLou · 19/08/2008 21:35

Charley, fingers crossed for your job. It sounds like it's in the bag! Sympathise about dd's visitors! I've never had them but plenty of staff at chool have. They are the bane of my life tbh. I get so sick of people not checking their kids hair and passing it on to everyone else. Also, we're not allowed to say anything to parents, even if we know a child has them. TYG is exactly right about the combing, get a Nitty Gritty, they are the bees knees of nit combs!
AM, very jealous of the mini-meet, wish I was closer!
Not a lot of news to tell here. R and I have been at battle with each other today. It's a battle of wills really and today it was who can shout the loudest. She is so defiant and so stubborn. She really is a typical Taurus baby! Dh took them both to a party this afternoon so I nipped into work to get a few jobs done. I managed to clear out a few cupboards and chuck a lot out so feel like I have done something.
Thursday will be a sad day, I am giving away (!) all of the dc baby toys that are too young for R. There will definitely be no more babies here and they are taking up precious space in the loft. They are going to a lady the cm knows. She's from Thailand and doesn't have any family here. Her baby is 5 months I think. She only knows her partner who is a friend of cm's dp. Apparently they are very hard up and don't have much for the baby. Tbh, I'm just glad everything is going somewhere it will be truly wanted.

charleymouse · 20/08/2008 00:36

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday LG&T

Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
