Mornin!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ShowOfHands · 13/08/2008 15:00

They're not that big, my (.)(.)

It's supply and demand. They make milk as she feeds ya know. I don't walk around on a daily basis overflowing and squirting the local farmers in the eye.

You all think I'm a freak show don't you? I'm not coming to your farking meet-up. I'm staying home with my circus quality breasts.

AprilMeadow · 13/08/2008 15:02

PMSL at circus quality boobs! We all love ya!

On a bit of a roll now! Have cleaned the kitchen, kids bathroom, put a mountain of ironing away, put lampshades up, assembled the table lamps for the lounge and hoovered the lounge as well as having a lovely chat with CAQL!

Might go and get dressed now

TillyScoutsmum · 13/08/2008 15:10

Hey all

PJ - I'm so sorry things are shit at the moment. I'm rubbish at relationship advice (I'm 33 years old and about to get married for the third time FFS !!). SOH's and Charley's advice is great and I agree your dh's email sounds like he's desperate to get things sorted out. The whole dynamic of a relationship is blown out of the water when a baby comes along. Before that, your dh was the most important thing to you and you loved him more than anything and then all of sudden - BAM ! - out pops that little lady and you actually realise what all consuming love is really all about. DH is obviously feeling massively left out and lacking in attention. I really hope you get it sorted.

Oh and can I come to a meet up ? Please.

cravingaquietlife · 13/08/2008 15:14

And the red rosette goes to showofhands for her best of britain jugs!

Good to chat AM. Am now playing catch up, lol

pmsl at your brakets comment tilly.

TillyScoutsmum · 13/08/2008 15:16

I know Obviously not my life plan but hey ho !

Ooh - I'm on day 5 (again !)

largeginandtonic · 13/08/2008 16:57

Lollollollollol at Circus boobs, i have seen them, they are not that big. Not nekkid you understand, well partially.

I like a bath ALONE, tis such a rare occurence (i shower quickly) i like to shut the door and enjoy. Preferably with a glass of chilled white, no books though, they get wet. I don't like that.

She is entirely normal and although she goes on about her weird clothes they are very nice, she wore a lovely skirt the last time she was here. She is also brave, you should hear dh when he gets going < sigh > she does very well for a little one.

Her dh reverts to playground giggles when here, him and my dh are like little boys. Cooing over the computer (not porn) and comparing muscles. SOH and i drink tea and vegetate on the couch, we love it.

The boy crwaled on my lap and fell asleep, incredibly rare occurence so i indluged and have not moved for about 2 hours.

Kids have set up a gambling room upstairs, last i heard it was black Jack on the table. Lordy.

I must do the tea, have lifted out beef frying steak. I am thinking something stirfy with broccoli. Am off to google.

You can all come here, in fact i fully expect you all in rotation next year covering the entire 9 months dh is going to be away. There is no way i can be lft with 7 children on my own.

Flamin nora, you can tell its raining where you all are today, it's taken me 3 hours, 22 minutes and 16 seconds to catch up with SOH's breasts posts. Lovely words from Charley and SOH. He has opened the door Pink, all you need to do is walk through it. Just please not in letters or emails.. Good luck.

tra la la, tra la la. At least I've got giraffes. And no rain. SOH you would love it here, we went to a craft place where they recycle old flip flops (integral to the way of life here) and turn them into toys, necklaces, place mats, and ehhm more flip flops. Before that we visited a pottery making beads and some lovely very african tableware. The lady showed us around the workshops full of women sitting and making tiny clay beads, making holes in them, dipping them in coloured glaze, handpainting them and making them into necklaces. They all thought Jasper was the best thing that they had seen for weeks. He was more impressed by the ceiling fan - pah boys.

We also visited the Karen Blixen farm house where the dc were totally baffled by a record player, a typewriter and a phone!

LG&T I saw a fabulous pair of locally made zebra pumps and almost bought them for you How is the boy now?

April, don't you have a lady that does??

Jam, I have bought two dresses for the wedding Actually that's a lie, my dmum bought one from Mango - deep pink, crepe, sundress style and only £30. And I have ordered one to be made (get me) black sundress jersey (skims and hides the lumps and bumps)with maasai beading under the bust. I thought I should really try to have a hint of kenya about me. Did you buy the red flowery one in the end?

JamInMyWellies · 13/08/2008 20:10

Ooh they both sound lovely master, I have not bought the red one yet not sure we can squeeze enough pennies to buy it.

Bit of advice needed here the screeching one has reached new heights of screeching. I understand that as he cant talk yet it is his only form of communication (babysigning does not work with him no matter how often I do the signs) but its getting ridicularse. Also he appears to have developed an aversion to DP doing anything with him unless I am right there. BLess DP is doing his best to not be upset when he does bathtime and story but from downstairs all I hear is hysterical crying. Am leaving DP to deal with it and trying to ignore it but its hard. Is this normal really hope it is otherwise we are fooked when No.2 comes out.

LookattheLottie · 13/08/2008 20:12

No AM I don't stay in Edinburgh, I'm about an hour away from it.

PJ hope you manage to get everything sorted with DH.

TYG and Sky, hope you got the parcels and liked.

Themasterandmargaritas · 13/08/2008 20:45

Jam, tis normal. Sorry love. We are just easing out of that stage a bit. J still screeches when he sees Elizabeth in the morning, holds out his arms to me and says up up. But now he will go to dh with no problem, with a big smile and lots of 'dadda'. I say to him, 'don't screech, just tell me what you want' and he goes 'blumumble gooble dat' and points. So we then talk randomly about whatever he is pointing at. Sounds bonkers I know but it works for us

SKYTVADDICT · 13/08/2008 22:05

Thanks AM, LW and JW for the lovely pressies.

Sorry to hear about your problems PJ. Hope talking is being done tonight. It can be very hard.

C is a real daddy's boy at the moment but has begun playing him up when getting dressed, nappy changing etc! He also does a lot of shouting, screeching and pointing until we understand what he wants. He has also started whining!

He has a really sore botty again and it was bleeding earlier, some big teeth are emerging at the bottom now bless him.

L is a little smasher (so far), he only lost 3 1/2 oz and has already but 2 oz of that back on. He has been sleeping loads and when he is awake and fed he just lays looking around him taking in the big wide world. Saying that, he has now been asleep all evening which has been his wakeful time for the last few nights - I can foresee a late night for me when he does eventually wake up. Hans't fed since 6pm.

cravingaquietlife · 13/08/2008 22:25

Cam..at random talk, sounds like our house too, Lots of daddadadada's she calls Harrison bubba, meant to be brother, she doesn't call Maddie anything she just runs for her life the other way. but J's favorite word with the pointy finger is buda buda bud da, cue Mummy saying, really? Where? Oh yes you are so clever... she is probably saying, get ya fat arse in there and make me breakfast Mummy.

Have had a toy clear out this evening, I don't have many toys in the lounge tbh.....if I had my way and a playroom it would be none, I hate them! Harrison is going to go mental in the morning when he see's. (OCD about change he is also a hoarder given the chance) I have one bin bag full for the loft and car boot at a later date and a smaller bin bag went in the bin! Wooo Hooo

First of the family arrive tomorow..

largeginandtonic · 14/08/2008 07:37

Glad L is being good Sky. just what you need with a small age gap. Poor C with his bum though, B had that at the weekend. 2 really sour nappies that took the skin off his bum and made it blister. Tis horrid, bepanthen is magic.

Master your day sounds so much fun, are all the activities cheap too? I can see a holiday to Nairobi in the offing. How are you feeling now, is AF dreadful?

MrsJB you sound so much like me, i do the same thing to B! I am also so toy clear out person, i do it when they are away. I am so mean, but they accumultae so much rubbish! Good luck with the family, should be a welcome distraction?

I have cleaned and am ready for today, sort of. Grandad has the children all day and dd appointment is at 11, so i will be leaving at 930. She is on no food and drink blesss her. I am nervous as i just read they wont let me in the anaesthetics room with her as i am pregnant, i seem to remember that is the same for the recovery room now i cast my mind back. The anaesthetic fumes cross over to the baby. My mil is coming with me but it's not the same as having mummy there is it?

DH home tonight, they are coming in alpha 1 all linned up on deck and i wont be able to see him hoping i am home about the same time as him if all goes weel at hospital. I may not be on for a while.

Text updates please

Pink stay with it chick, we are all here with you.

It's today! It's Bobby Shafto Comes Home day.

Just logging on really quickly to say best of luck to Phin for today, and good luck to her mum too. I wondered the other day if you'd have to stay out of the room. I'll be thinking of you. Am a bit emotional about your reunion with dh too. It's so romantic, returning from the high seas to his knocked up true love.

Cam, it sounds so wonderful out there. Bits of it anyway! The strange weather and political climate aren't that attractive right now. I like the glass blowing type places. There are several round here and M loves them.

M had a screechy phase. Better now that she's chattier. She can say about 40 words in context which helps but sometimes we get stuck and she points and shouts 'cardadufum' over and over again for example. Eventually, after offering her the contents of the house we will finally discover 'cardadufum' is a specific set of keys that she can't have anyway.

Do you know, life's so much easier since I taught M to load the washing machine and switch it on. Shall I offer it as tip of the day?

"Why do it yourself when your 15 month old has the manual dexterity and can be trained to do it for you?"

She enjoys it, honest.

Going to make pancakes for breakfast.

Good luck Phin! Welcome home Herculean God!

cravingaquietlife · 14/08/2008 08:46

lg&t best of luck with Phim today, I'm sure she'll be amazing as will you be a tower of strength. Is it today? OMG that seems to have flown, probably not for you though. Have a wonderful evening, ahhh SOH I'm feeling the lumpy throat too.

J also enjoys hindering helping, although not quite to the Mathilda Hands degree of brilliance. I've tried to train harrison in all manner of tasks, the whine becomes worse than just doing it myself sometimes. Can you bring M here please, I have some floors to clean and rugs to sweep today?

I think the family will help the M&D situation throough the summer...either that or there will be missing posters up through France by September. I will be hiding in AM's mansion but don't let on.

YAY for N and lg&t

charleymouse · 14/08/2008 08:47

LG&T good luck to P for today, hope it all goes well.

Have a good night as well.

I will be AWOL today as have have HAVE to finalise my job application deadline 5pm today. AFter I have done that DH has kindly arranged for a van for me and him to go and move the washing machine and bedroom nursery furniture over.

Waves manically, see you tomorrow.

Themasterandmargaritas · 14/08/2008 08:49

Good luck LG&T and to Phin. Probably its best that MIL is holding her hand at that last moment as you would blub so much I'm sure by the time she has come round properly they will have wheeled her out of recovery to be near you. Does she realise fully what is going on?

Grandad is a brave man

And how fantastic to have dh back today, hurrah hurrah! Have you warned him that you are a lesbian horny bitch? Lucky man.

SOH, good to see you have switched onto the benefits of child labour already. J pushes all the right buttons but forgets to load the machine first. Typical man.

MrsJB, I often thank the lord we are far away from Europe as it is incredibly difficult to buy toys here. I am 'no toys in the sitting room' (sitting room or lounge? which is posher??!) and they all must stay in the playroom. But they still somehow creep downstairs....

Anyone heard from Lups recently? She's a bit quiet?

AF isn't painful nowadays LG&T, is very light, but the pyschosis has gone Can you FB your mobile no? I don't seem to have it...

TillyScoutsmum · 14/08/2008 08:55

Thinking of you and P today LG&T. Hope all goes well. Oh - and enjoy your reunion . Yay LG&T and her man are going to be togevva

CM - good luck with the application form

PJ - Any news love ?

MrsJ - have fun en famille

AprilMeadow · 14/08/2008 09:18

Good luck LG&T for today with Phin. Am pleased that your MIL is there to support you and also to be able to hold P's hand on your behalf.

on N beinghome today as well. I guess we wont be seeing you for a few days then

I hope that you get the KK's in tip top condition, although they will probably need to be scoffed today before they go past their best.

CAQL have fun with the neices, i hope they settle into their roles as housekeeper/childminders quickly

PJ how was last night?

SKY glad that baby L is being so good for you. How did last night go sleepwise?

I have another fun morning of housework [yawn] before collecting ds from nursery. I have managed to get some pictures up in the playroom this am. My boss bought us a signed Quentin Blake print of the Fantastic Daisy Artichoke (never heard of her...) for our wedding present (albeit 3yrs late) and it was up on the wall in Ellas room in the old house. Then a couple of weeks ago dh and i went shopping and found some unsigned ones in a little frame shop, so we got one from Mathilda and one from George's Marvellous Medicene and decided to make that the 'theme' of the playroom. Looks really lovely to have a set of it...... just hope they are up straight.....

Pinkjenny · 14/08/2008 09:53

Morning.

Jam - L is the same, even hysterical when M carries her down the stairs and I'm behind them, ffs. I had to butter toast this morning with her on my hip, such was the whining, which I cannot take first thing.

Sky - L sounds gorgeous, so scrummy. My next door neighbour, who I adore, had a baby girl on Sunday. I want to steal her, she's so teeny tiny.

CAQL - L has a few words. Although I am sure she is fluent in some language or other, its not English. I keep saying she sounds Spanish and we must have picked up the wrong baby.

LG&T - Much love to you and P. Will text you now in case I've missed you. xxx

April - am definitely going to come and see you. Was thinking September? But I'm not sure I can bear a 4.5 hour train journey with L, so maybe I'll drive up on a Friday evening. How are you fixed?

SOH - I am enjoying your use of child labour. Any chance L may be able to peg the washing out for me as well, once I've taught her to load the machine?

Things are much the same, although the lines of communication are open, and we have agreed to pool our finances completely, which we did on-line last night. One issue down, so many to go...

elkiedee · 14/08/2008 11:13

LGT, hope the appointment is going ok, and that you have a great time wtih your dh home.

SKYTVADDICT · 14/08/2008 11:14

Glad the lines of communication are open PJ. We don't pool finanaces but then again I have the DDs (DP does support them a lot though!).

Last night was better than expected. L woke just after I posted and was awake for about an hour, had a feed at 11 ish then slept until 3.30, fed and slept again until 7.30 so really good.

DP put our trampoline up yesterday and guess where he is now? At A&E with DD2. Aaaargh, we were just hoping for a quieter day, as was my poor mum who has had to come to the rescue again as I can't manage C on my own yet! Her ankle is twice the size it should be, hopefully not broken but she went on it with DD1 before breakfast and landed awkwardly!

Going out as a family tonight. DP's neice is getting christened at 6pm then we are going out for a meal. You can't be a god parent if you haven't been christened so she is doing it for us (although we haven't actually asked her to be god parent yet LOL!).

SKYTVADDICT · 14/08/2008 11:15

Sorry forgot to say good luck with Phin for today LG&T x

cravingaquietlife · 14/08/2008 11:34

Where is Mathilda? I'm still waiting, maybe she would prefer to make the barhoota bread and onion bahjis insteqad of doing the floor?
Indian tonight......

So glad you have the ball rolling, keep each door open and use them. xx

SKY, hope dd is OK, they can be dangerous things tramps! Lewis sounds like a dream baby, hope it lasts.

TYG, you Ok lovely?

Tilly meant to say...well done for starting again... just don't give up this time. Alix and I are in week 9 now.
woo hoo when can we officially declare ourselves non smokers?

twelveyeargap · 14/08/2008 11:36

Would you all mind piping down when I'm offline please? Took me blinking ages to catch up and yes, am GUTTED to have missed all the durrrrrty talk. Tsk.

Thank you all so much for the kind thoughts, words, cards and presents. LG&T, Scoot, CAQL, AM, LATL, Jam et al. DH can't believe that "strangers" were sending me stuff.

I'm going to write a longer post later. Am on my way out shortly to bring the babies to see my grandma, but thought I'd better get a word in edgeways first.
