Glad things are resolved DKMA and that you can relax now. I hope everyone is being suitably cold and distant with the creep who caused all this ruction. What a twat.

DH has a job interview on Friday for a job that is more involved with the legalities of the packaging industry and the wording on the packaging itself. He is quite keen as it would be a bit of a challenge for him (and on the doorstep), but he has done a bit of it before and the legalese is quite daunting, especially where medicine packaging is concerned.

Morning ladies

Blimey DKMA what a relief.....glad its been sorted. Some people are so up their own arse aren't they? Can't believe he just reported it without discussing with you first....have you said anything to him?

I know very well that sinking stomach feeling when you've done something at work and you realise how serious it is.....its pretty scary when there is a cancer patient sitting on the end of it as well I can tell you...

Thanks ladies for all your support....think I'm trying to ride it out and manage as long as I can....I was so relaxed when I was pregnant with DD....this time its the complete opposite, but very oddly, I'm not anxious about the baby, or how I'm going to cope, or how we're going to afford it (you know the important things that I should be worrying about)....its more "can I get round Sainsubry's without making a tit of myself" ...pathetic.

I had that emergency counselling session the day I went to GP about 5 weeks ago and have heard bugger all since!

Right, off to do some housework I spose....what an exciting life I lead!

LittleMissNorty · 07/08/2008 08:55

Daisy...DD has only just started crying when I tell her off....its SO fustrating when they laugh....I can put on a really stern voice and pull her away and she still does it again. She sat on the floor this morning posting a toy in the sub-woofer speaker on the floor laughing at us ...the holes in those things are the perfect size for a baby's arm.....looks like James Herriot

LackaDAISYcal · 07/08/2008 09:01

norty....accept that there are days when making a tit of yourself getting around sainsbury's are the norm, and try to relax . Do your shopping on-line for a bit; that's what I'm planning on doing

seriously though, ikwym. I was up for three hours the other night stressing about this new car; whether we have done the right thing, if it's going to be big enough, and stupidly, how the hell the handbrake works! It has an automatic handbrake which has no lever and comes on by itself and goes off as soon as the car starts to move. I can't for the life of me figure out how this will work at traffic lights, or even how safe it is (what if the electrics go wrong etc), and this gave me three hours of grief.

i hope you are feeling better though. there is a great book called Mind over Mood or something like that and also a friend sent me this:

"heard u were back on the AD's, have u tried the Patrick Holford Optimum Nutrition thing? He's done a book for the Mind and one for PG, all the same recommendations really, but he wouldn't make so much money if he let on....basically sh**t loads of multivits, vit c & b complex, zinc and omega 3/6 until you rattle".

she said it really helped her when she was pregnant and she was able to come off the ADs by the time she was 6mo pregnant. I'm off to check Amazon out now!

lol at James Heriot. Maybe if you disguise the speaker as a cow, she will be subliminally primed for a future career as a vet?

Morning Daisy, LMN.

I'm not supposed to know who reported me but a friend told me so I can't really speak to him about it but mark my words - his shit better not stink for a very long time!
He has a liking for seedy strip clubs and making disgusting sexual remarks behind womens backs (once he was sat behind me at a conference when a female senior manager introduced herself on the stage he mumbled 'show us yer c*nt' under his breath to the fellas he was sat with) so I'm affraid I'm going to be watching him very closely!!!

LMN making a tit of myslf in public is usual occurance for me! I've kind of got used to it! I try and convince myself that I am a bit excentric - which makes me feel better than thinkng there is something wrong with me .

Yes, telling the lo off has got interesting here too as he has started shaking his head (in a no no motion) when I do it?

LittleMissNorty · 07/08/2008 09:07

Cheers Daisy....will have a look!

I have a laguna estate with an automatic handbrake and they are FAB. When you get to traffic lights - if you really want to put the handbrake on (I sit there with my foot on the clutch or the brake ) you can just pull the lever to put it on and when you lift the clutch to biting point the handbrake just releases automatically.....so if you want to cut someone up move off quickly, you just hold it on the clutch as lights change....it tells you on the panel the parking brake is off.

You do keep putting your hand down there though for a while to put the brake on .

Great when you stop, cos you just stop the car and press the on/off button and the parking brake comes on automatically.

I've also got a hands-free card, so as long as the keys are in the car somewhere (usually DD playing with them in the back), I can get in and start the car without keys....

Its be a great car! You'll love it!

LittleMissNorty · 07/08/2008 09:09

Hi DKMA....what a wanker.....I'd be looking for every opportunity....I'm like a dog with a bone with arseholes like that.....

LackaDAISYcal · 07/08/2008 09:25

I'm sure I'll get used to it. Funnily enough the thing that i liked about it was the gearstick is on the dash like in my Civic, so I won't be paddling about looking for that; just the handbrake. Is there a stick on the console then? You wouldn;t guess that I took the bloody thing for a test drive would you. One of my concerns is going back to a car with a regular handbrake (ie DHs) and completely forgetting to put it on when I stop driving. Have visions of it rolling gently down the hill into the main road!

DH has a laguna but his has a regular handbrake, and although he has the card key and stop/start button the card needs to be in the slot before it will go. I thought I'd broken it the other day as it wouldn't start, but he had left it in gear.

DKMA, while you are here; I was looking for something on the last thread and came across a post from you saying you have a maxicosi isofix seat. Is that the baby seat with the separate base unit? And do you know that if the a car has three isofix points in the back it's OK to out the infant seat in the middle? We have the seat already, so I just need to buy the isofix base.

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 07/08/2008 09:33

Have put DD down for a sleep. she usually grumbles about being put in her cot (starting as soon as i open her bedroom door), but she just pulled up the blanket (she has developed an unnatural bond with an ancient waffle cotton blanket) and rolled over. She must really need it.

So...off to shower and get the car cleaned out while I can. DS has said he will wash it for me , although I have to do the roof as he can't reach!

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 07/08/2008 09:37

My handbrake is like a hand sized little lever to the right of the steering wheel. My gearstick is in the normal place though. I haven't driven another car since and I also would be terrified of not putting the handbrake on.

The display on my car when you get in says press brake and start as the car won't start unless your foot is on the brake, but if you've parked in gear, the message says, press clutch and start.

Daisy...what double buggy are you going for out of interest?

DKMA · 07/08/2008 09:42

Daisy, I have the maxicosi isofix bigger seat and the babyseat with 2 bases (on for my car and one for dh's) I don't see why you can't put it in the middle - as long as it's hooked onto the metal bits it'll be safe wont it?
Don't know what to do with the baby seat and bases? I keep thinking I'll put it all up in the loft in case we has another lo but they take up so much bloody space Dh wants to sell them on ebay. I don't know if you would want a second hand base - but let me know if you do?

Bumperlicious · 07/08/2008 09:48

Hmm, telling off here doesn't get much of a response, though if she goes to touch something she knows she shouldn't she sometimes shakes her head (and touches it anyway!) yesterday she started pinching any bit of you she can. She won't be told to stop, just thinks it's funny. What can I do?

LackaDAISYcal · 07/08/2008 09:53

oooh, yes please DKMA . I'm sure you would've mentioned if you'd had an accident with DS in the car, so I'm OK with the base's history . Do you have my email address? Let me know how much you want for it and whether you have paypal or would prefer a cheque.

bumper, she probably thinks she's just tickling you. Can you encourage her to do it gently?

Norty, we are going for a Phil and Teds, but not sure whether to get the Sport, or shell out another £150 for the Vibe.

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 07/08/2008 09:53

I have no idea as DD regularly tries to pull out teeth / hair etc out, investigate eyelashes, ears whatever and can be very rough and it bloody hurts. If you find something that works Bumper, please let me know ....

LackaDAISYcal · 07/08/2008 09:54

am off to get things done. See y'all later.

Hello Ladies

Sorry Bumper, can't help...if DS hits us (rare, only when he's tired) we get really angry at him and he stops. We grab his hand and shout no! don't hit! He either stops or cries then stops.

Never rains but it pours in the land of fury.

Have had a really really bad family crisis.

Bumperlicious · 07/08/2008 10:05

Wassup fury?

HellHathNoFury · 07/08/2008 10:11

we have discovered that someone we know and is close to is a paed and needs to go to jail. And rightly so. Beyond that I am uncomfortable discussing it right now.

omg fury . It sounds like it came as a bit of a shock.

When I read your post, I misread it as when DH hits you, not DS and was about to give you a tirade about making excuses etc!

this is not cleaning out the car is it? And the rain is on it's way so I'd better crack on!

Oh, fury, that's awful. You know where we are if you need to talk.

HellHathNoFury · 07/08/2008 11:11

lol no DH has a mood on him but he never hits me as he knows I'd hit him back much harder

Yes it did come as a shock - I feel upset for the people involved but also very angry, and scared in a way because it does make you think that even people close to you can't be trusted.

At the moment we are just finding out how to tell the police. Until the police know and have enough evidence to convict him I don't want to discuss publicly.
