Good luck tomorrow Jammy!

Daisy, I've emailed you

Izzybel · 06/08/2008 21:39

Hello

Just been catching up but I have forgotten everything .

Foxy, sorry that your LO has been in hospital sounds like you have all had a really crap time.

That sounds awful about your BIL Natty. Hope it gets better for him and your MIL.

Daisy, hope you had a good holiday!

DKMA, sorry about all the crap at work. Sound horrible. What a tw@t!

Hope everyone else is ok!

Not much to report here. My mum and sister just got back from a week in Turkey yesterday morning and my mum is going back for another 2 weeks next monday!

I'm bored!

NattyThomasAndEllen · 06/08/2008 21:41

jammy, you will find that most ppl will help you on any stairs i go into london everyweek as i live in croydon and DH works in london. i tend to find on the underground ppl will help, its the overground no one helps you.. i was stuggling up a very large stair case with ellen in my ringsling and thomas in the buggy, several ppl passed me, no one stopped to help

LackaDAISYcal · 06/08/2008 21:45

lol norty....buy some books from me. you know you want to

pooter updated itself using windows update and it now keeps on telling me that windows couldn;t connect to the internet, but my connection is fine. It's hit and miss when it does it and gives me some message about not being able to find the host name using DNS and the DNS server might be down. I have not a fecking clue what a DNS server is and whether the probelm is with my ISP or is a wider internet issue. Very frustrating, especially with the usbourne site as it's letting me onto some pages but not others so I can't get anything done or finish my tutorial......aaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh

Natty, your kidding that's ridiculous! People can be so rude!

LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 21:49

You should be able to uninstall the update Daisy and then turn automatic updates off

Windows update has fucked up our Vista and I'm having to use XP atm until vista is re-installed!

I will have a look at the books....I love books...DDs got LOTS!

LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 21:49

Hi Izzy....Natty

LackaDAISYcal · 06/08/2008 21:52

thanks norty the new system is vista and i'd read there were compatibility ishoos with lots of programs (I think it was a norton update)

it's currently trying to install service pack 1 for vista....should i forget it? am so bloody clueless when it comes to computers.

NattyThomasAndEllen · 06/08/2008 21:54

night all xx

LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 21:54

yes, don't install it - fucked this machine up (we use Vista and XP on the same machine)...my DH is PC engineer...

LackaDAISYcal · 06/08/2008 21:55

oh hi izzy...it seems ages since I've "seen" you on here.

jammy, hope your journey goes OK tomorrow. I don't envy you.

andie is on holiday now isn't she? I forgot to email her before I went away and she isn't back till the 18th....durr. I hope she is still expecting us

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 21:56

Think she was hoping to check in whilst away cos we haven't decided where we're going yet!

Right, off to bed....I can't get enough sleep atm!

Night all x

LackaDAISYcal · 06/08/2008 21:56

no xp on this....just vista. will that be OK? I'd cancelled it anyway as it said it would take an hour and i wouldn't be able to use the pooter during that time

how are you feeling norty? are things getting better and if not, how much closer are you to getting some help from your GP?

OP posts:
LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 22:00

a bit better but still very anxious....14 weeks this week so will see how I go....still throwing everything up....but am definately better than I was. Think sickness is anxiety now rather than MS. Dreading going back to GP though "drugs are NOT the answer dear"

Turn automatic updates off...I'll ask DH about it later...(he's mending someones else computer atm!)

Izzybel · 06/08/2008 22:03

Sorry that you're still throwing up Norty. I really hope it gets better. Your GP sounds fab!

LittleMissNorty · 06/08/2008 22:05

Another good quote from her was "keep yourself busy" and "think positive thoughts"

......I was in floods of tears at the time........I know she was doing all she could (I was only 9 weeks), but I felt like utter shit.

Oh well!

Definately off now....night all x

Izzybel · 06/08/2008 22:13

Eeh they come out with some corkers don't they!?

I'm off too. Night! xx

Sputnik · 06/08/2008 22:20

God yes Vista is crap, my laptop came with it but DH managed to install XP. DD likes the games though.

Natty, hope you can work something out with your MIL. The idea of having your BIL over 2 or 3 days a week sounds an excellent one.

Daisy, I might be interested in Usborne books if you can send them here reasonably. Where can i find a list of their titles?

justbeme · 06/08/2008 22:22

Evening - havent caught up yet - hope you're all well.

L has the most awful nappy rash - water filled blisters bless her, the HV told me to use Metanium - any other ideas??

(Off to catch up )

Sputnik · 06/08/2008 22:28

Norty, sorry to hear you're still having a tough time.
Think positive thoughts, that's really helpful isn't it

LackaDAISYcal · 06/08/2008 22:42

hey sputnik . catalogue here. I am going to set up my own web page and orders can be placed directly from there. I donlt get as much commission that way, but every little helps eh? and it opens your business up to a much wider audience. In the meantime, I'll find out about postage costs to Italy for you.

hi jbm....we are martyrs to nappy rash here. Metanium is good, but for an easy and natural (and very effective) remedy get an egg and separate it, then whisk up the white till it starts to go opaque and frothy and then just dab it on. If you don't "double dip" (ie use a clean finger each time you dip in the egg) then you can keep it in the fridge to use again. Let her bottom air dry for a bit and it forms a breathable, but impervious barrier and works wonders. Also, are you still using cloth? Maybe you need to strip your nappies; wash them without any detergent for a few cycles until there are no suds appearing in the window. you can add some vinegar to those washes as well if needed.

how's work going?

LackaDAISYcal · 06/08/2008 22:48

norty; the AIMS guidelines (or is it NICE) do say something about drugs being the last line of attack for depression/anxiety in pregnany, but your GP should also be sympathetic to each individual patient and realise that for some, it is a real necessity. If she isn't prepared to prescribe you anything, then she should be referring you for immediate talking therapies/CBT. Expecting you to just get on with it is bloody negligent if you ask me and if I were you I would be in there demanding a referral to a psych who treats pregnant women on a regualr basis. Could you have a word with your MW or HV? They might be able to influence the GP.
I realise how lucky I am, both here in Leeds in general and at my practice in particular as the MH services are fantastic.

Hello all

DD was up for an hour or so at some godforsaken hour last night and is now still asleep although I woke up at 7

DKMA sorry you are having a tough time at work. I would have shit myself if that had happened to me. I don't like being told off and have a tendency to cry in that sort of situation. It's a complete uncontrollable reaction, which makes me dread being disciplined even more! I did something similar at work a couple of weeks ago actually. I did something accidentally which I realised was probably illegal. I shit myself and thought I could either pretend it never happened and hope nobody found out. But I knew that if they did find out and knew I had realised it would be a lot worse than breaking the law, so I went to my line manager who got in touch with the lawyers. Turns out that it was against policy rather than the law which meant that it was less bad, and they commended me for getting in contact so quickly. Anyway, that was a stressful few days so I can understand how you feel. Plus, being stabbed in the back by a friend makes it so much worse! Hope you feel a bit better now.

Foxy, hope the LO is ok and that you are managing with your brood. Let me know if I can do anything.

JBM, sorry LO is suffering from nappy rash. We are long time suffers here. DD get red open welts on her bum and vuvla, it looks very painful. I think it is affect by the amount of fruit she eats, but I don't want to stop giving her fruit.

Hello everyone else, hope you are ok. Natty, hope the situation with your poor BIL gets sorted.

Norty, sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I used to go and cry on every single one of my ante-natal visits. I realised that on one of the sessions one of the midwives had just written "all ok" in my notes . And despite the rest of my notes saying "very anxious" "worried about PND" and saying that my mum had PND no-one ever gave me a PND test. I hope you get some help soon, and remember we are here for you. I just remember from meeting you that you seemed like a confident, easygoing mum, I know she is in there somewhere!

DKMA · 07/08/2008 08:42

Morning!

Lo has gone off to nursery with daddy but has done 3 poohs already today - I think it's tooth related - he seems happy enough but I'll be half expecting a call from nursery today so I'm going to try and get as much work done as poss as fast as poss!

I got the green light at work yesterday - saying that all was ok and I didn't break an rules! Phew! I knew I hadn't but was worried that it would be difficult to explain. It has caused so much drama! All senior managers have been in meetings non stop since monday about it, all the middle managers had a teleconference about 'breaking the code' and all sales reps have had to sign off documents saying they understand the code. It's horrible to think that 2 badly chosen words in my email had started all of that!

Thanks for your support Bumper (and others) it's been a stressful week!

LackaDAISYcal · 07/08/2008 08:47

morning. All slept through here, except for DD waking up crying for a cuddle in the middle of the night. she went straight back to sleep though, thankfully.

She is a grumpy guts this morning though and I think it's her eye teeth coming in. If you ask her "where's sore?" she puts her fingers in her mouth, poor lamb.

She has taken to climbing onto the windowsill (sofa is in front of the window) and standing shouting at the world. she also pulls at the blinds, and the hair of whoever is sitting on the sofa and being a pest in general. If i tell her off, she just laughs at me ....even when I'm doing my serious face and voice.

sorry about your moment at work bumper, but good on you for coming clean about it. I used to have moments like that too and realising you have made a mistake is horrible. In my line of work a blooper can mean injury or even death to someone, and a custodial sentence if things go badly wrong .....thinking about that makes me glad I'm out of it tbh.
