The party is with Fairy Fay this autumn then

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 21:26

gahhhhhh. One of those salesmen selling dishcloths, etc just came and rang the doorbell really long and hard, and woke DS up. FFS, who in their right mind would buy anything from a salesman at 9:15 on a Tuesday night?

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 21:28

Have got the process started...... redcurrants and sugar mashed together and in the bottom of a clean, sterilsed vodka bottle (leftover from making the blackcurrant vodka!). It smells fab already.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 21:31

AAah, I hate them. If you stop them trying to give you their sales pitch they moan that you're not giving them a chance and if you hear them through and then don't buy anything they bitch that you've let them waste their time!

Jamket woke crying, but wasn't too upset IMO so i said I thought we should leave her. Cue an argument with DH who thought I should go up. In then end she settled herslef down while we were debating what to do

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 21:32

That seems to be a regular occurence here too, Jammy - by the time we agree on what to do, DS has gone back to sleep! Probably a good thing tbh

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 21:45

OK, I'm going to bed. Night Fairy. Night any lurkers out there!

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 21:58

goodnight Jammy

LittleMissNorty · 30/07/2008 11:11

So........where are we meeting on the 21st August?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/07/2008 12:30

Yes, I'd like to know about the 21st as well please.

Just had 3 mums and babies round to play/chat. Was nice. Jamlet worn out by it thbough, she fell asleep in her high chair half way through her sandwich so I carried her up adn she is asleep in her cot which is very very rare for daytime napping.

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/07/2008 20:11

I think the main suggestions for the 21st were Wisley Gardens, Kew Gardens or Richmond Park. Anypne else have any ideas?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/07/2008 21:20

AS far as I remember, Kew was thought a little pricey, not sure what was said about Wisley, and I'm afraid I've got concerns about Richmond Park being a bit bleak if it turns out to be a rainy day. Lawks, I sound like a right wet blanket don't I? I can't actually think of anywhere however that meets what I'd consider to be our requirements:

Somewhere that lots of mums, littlies & pushchairs can get into/around in, which will be entertaining enough for the littlies and offer enough chat opportunities for the mums, and has some scope for bad weather, and can be accessed by public transport, and won't cost an arm and a leg.

We don't ask for much do we

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/07/2008 21:56

I agree about Richmond Park - there is a cafe but it isn't generally a great place to be in the rain!

Wisley is nice. Kids are free in August, adults cost £11 but both Andiem and I have RHS membership cards which each admit 2 adults. But, I'm not sure how accessible it is by train.

We could go to a soft play area? Maybe Eddie Katz, in Putney? It's big with a cafe. It'll probably be very busy, but then so will everywhere

Izzybel · 31/07/2008 07:20

Good morning!

It's really warm! Although it has been thundering and rainy the past couple of days and looks like it will be the same today.

Sorry to hear that a few of the little ones have been poorly or not sleeping well with the heat.

The dog situation is a little better. Because it has been sunny we've been playing in the garden lots, so she seems better for it. I know what you mean about them reading your mind, Fury. She's so comforting when I'm sad and she tries to protect me when DP is pretending to batter me! I feel really sorry that you and DH can't take your dog with you .

Has anyone else ever felt like their relationship with friends that they knew before having babies has changed? I had my friend round the other day and for most of the time that she was here it seemed just like awkward silence! I felt like I was just talking and talking to fill in the gaps, but I had nothing to talk about because all the things that I do nowadays are to do with DD or with my 'baby friends' and I didn't want to come across as being a 'baby bore.' I guess she is usually pretty quiet though. I haven't really seen her since I was pregnant but she only lives round the corner.

Bumperlicious · 31/07/2008 10:01

Morning

Izzy, I know how you feel but work is my problem. We were discussing being tired yesterday, and I mentioned about dd being up in the night due to teething and one of the blokes went "well, it's your choice to have a baby" I mean, what the fuck do you say to that?

Glad things with the dog are a bit better though.

We are finally getting DD's hair cut today. The yorkshire terrier look just isn't cutting it any more!

andiem · 31/07/2008 10:11

morning all

have a day of packing ahead as we are off to devon tomorow for 2 weeks hope the weather picks up it has been torrential rain in the sw all week

bumper good luck with the haircut ds2 just has some longer wispy bits over his ears so am holding off cutting it
how is the bf going?

izzy glad things are better with the dog

we had another full night sleep last night

and dh and I have been married for 15 years

annobal · 31/07/2008 10:32

Morning (or evening for me - DH is cooking dinner and DCs all in bed for at least an hour )

Don't think you can fight that kind of logic Bumper - obviously a pillick!

Good luck with the haircut. I had DS3s hair cut a few weeks ago - he is a bit of a slap-head but his mohawk was turning into a quiff . I did keep the hair though...

Andie, Devon sounds lovely - whereabouts? Congrats on 15 years - that's good going.

Sorry about your friend Izzy - sometimes you are at different places but things will sort out (especially when she has children).

annobal · 31/07/2008 10:34

or is it pillock? as in bollock?

Bumperlicious · 31/07/2008 10:36

It's pillock!

evening annobal we are off to dittisham near dartford

glad you had a good camping trip storm

izzy sorry about your friend it is hard when they don't have babies as I think it is so life transforming that it is hard for me to remember what it was like before I had the dcs

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 31/07/2008 13:25

Hi all.

Didn't have any pre-baby mates round here to lose touch with, and the ones who live far away (ex school and uni chums) just about all have kids anyhow.

Bumper, Sorry you've got to work with such an ignoramous. I bet, that like most working mothers, you don't expect to get away with anything, and yes you know it was your choice to have the baby, but you would just like someone to say "oooh, you have my sympathy" once in a while.

Met 4 mums & babies I know while out in town, so had an impromptu lunch out Only an egg sandwich in Sainsburys' cafe, but still. Jamlet shared my sandwich and managed to snaffle some crisps and chips off the others. She thought it was great!!

andiem · 31/07/2008 13:57

sorry meant dartmouth not dartford doh

glad you had a nice lunch jammy sometimes impromptu ones are the best

HellHathNoFury · 31/07/2008 13:57

Afternoon all.

I am really tired today, my own fault for being too lazy to drag myself upstairs to bed the last few nights, ad thus going to bed far too late.

Am also worn out and stressed, am being caught up in lots of legal drama and family strife and frankly I just couldn't give a toss.

Have put other car up for sale on Ebay, at least this one has a bid!!

DS has mastered eatingwraps. Doesn't like them much but that is by the by. Went for his MMR today to be told that they aren't allowed to give the 3 jabs thre, they can only do the one, so now we have to find somewhere that will...urg

andiem · 31/07/2008 14:03

hi fury sorry you are tired and lots of crap going on
are you trying to get single jabs for ds?

HellHathNoFury · 31/07/2008 14:06

yes... but it's expensive and not many places do it.
AND the body that makes the mumps one has ceased production until 2009 so lots of places have run out of that one.

Forever an uphill f*cking battle
