Bummer about your tax credits Bumper. And shame about the lido but sure we can have a nice time anyway. I'll be in tuch later in the week.

Good lightening display outside with gentle rumbles of thunder in the background - it's a little way off from here. Hope it cools things down as am fed up with this muggy feeling.

OK, bed for me. DH still at work, and told me not to wait up.

HI all

hope you're feeling better Jammy?

Bumper.....tax credits go down once LOs reach a year old....we lost ours altogether....and our income has reduced as well.....and expenditure increased!

andiem · 29/07/2008 10:04

morning all just doing chores before going food shopping with the dcs

norty did you get my e mail about the car seats? haven't heard from mamas and papas yet though

LittleMissNorty · 29/07/2008 11:03

Hi andie - yes, got your reply.....but nothing recent? That's no problem anyway, just let me know as and when!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 12:27

Feeling much better today thanks ladies. She wouldn't BF again this morning, so have brought expressing kit into work so I can express properly if I need to so I don't end up too sore again. Looks like this might be the end of BF for us, but I'm not too sad if it is. We'd dropped down to morning & night only and I knew we'd stop that at some point, so if she's preferring to have a cup of cows milk then I can live with that.

Ooooh, have arranged for some RL mum chums and babies to come round to us tomorrow!

andiem · 29/07/2008 12:37

glad you are feeling better Jammy I had a week of one very sore hard boob when I finished feeding ds2 thought it would never go away but I massaged it in the shower loads and it is fine now
I now have shrinking boobs which is a bit odd

have just been done for speeding was doing 58 in a 50 area seems a bit harsh though my fault early morning open road will just have to take the points and pay the fine oops dh thought it was very funny

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 12:45

Sorry about your fine Andiem. If it was me I'd be irked but would accept that if I was caught speeding then I would have to cough up, and tbh there's been plenty of times I haven't been caught so it probably evens out in the end (I'm not really a speed freak, but there are times we all go just that bit faster, you know). Still a right pain though

When you stopped feeding (or anyone else) did you just stop and "work through" the pain, or did you cut down slowly?

LittleMissNorty · 29/07/2008 12:45

Oops Andie....my DH been done lots of times....the last time I took the points and had to go to a speed awareness course (that cost £90) but didn't get any points. I was very

Have to admit to having been very lucky not to get caught myself though.....

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 12:46

And I don't want to shrink! I've had decent sized boobs over the past year for the first time ever, I don't want to lose them

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 12:53

That was very generous of you to take the points norty. I don't know that I'd have been so accomodating!

andiem · 29/07/2008 13:15

jammy I was only doing one feed a day for about 2 weeks and then stopped but I still had a sore hard boob I deliberately left it as I didn't want to stimulate any more milk and I took nurofen a couple of times and went back to wearing a nursing bra at night

andiem · 29/07/2008 13:18

what annoys me is I was doing 8 miles over dh did 72 in a 50 area and got the same fine and points that just doesn't seem fair but I did it so I know I need to take the punishment and I have never been done before
so as jammy says it counts for all the other times I have gone over
I'm not a speed freak either

norty you were very generous to our dh

LittleMissNorty · 29/07/2008 13:23

Well, he drives for part of his job and a clean license is important....and as it was I didn't get any points anyway...just a fun day out in Buckinghamshire .....made my feelings quite clear, let me tell you!!

My DH would laugh and laugh if I got caught....I'm quite an agressive driver....but not with DD in the car these days.....but I do lots of motorway driving (not that its a decent excuse I know )

LittleMissNorty · 29/07/2008 13:28

I've made my DH out to be some sort of maniac driver.....he's been done for 35 in a 30, 50 in a 40 and 70 in a 60..over the past 7 years.....so hardly a nutter

Yesterday I was driving on the inside lane (with DD) and the bloke behind couldn't get into the outside lane to overtake me so he dicided to push us both out of the way and go down the middle (we both had to swerve) at about 80mph....in a 50 zone.....and d*kheads like that never get caught....or kill someone other than themselves

Sputnik · 29/07/2008 14:03

jAMMY, WHEN i STOPPED BF WITH dd oops I was on 1 (I think) feeds a day. I just hand expressed enough to stop the worst discomfort and it was over in few days. You're probably halfway there already.

andiem · 29/07/2008 14:25

norty tbh my dh drives quite fast but he has only been caught once he has slowed down a bit since we had dcs

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 17:55

OK, another feeding question. Are your LOs still having milk (be it BF, formula, cows milk, in a cup or a bottle or whatever) first thing and last thing? Jamlet is, and sometimes has cows milk in a cup mid morning and/or mid afternoon (or sometimes she has a snack). A HV I spoke to last week seemed to imply that the first and last milk feeds should be stopped by around a year. Is that true? If not, when do they stop?

andiem · 29/07/2008 18:49

hi jammy they need about 600mls of milk a day but that includes yoghurt cheese etc
my 8 year old still has a drink of milk in the evening and has only just stopped having one in the morning
lo has one morning and night but i don't tend to give it in the day as then he doesn't want his food

LittleMissNorty · 29/07/2008 19:25

Mine gets 6oz cow milk morning and evening....evening one still in a bottle....nothing during the day though...

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 19:46

Hello everyone. will catch up in a minute but quick question for Jammy - I have a load of redcurrants picked on Saturday that desperately need to be used. I did a search on here and say that you'd made redcurrant gin - was it nice? I quite fancy it but didn't want to use a bottle of gin, without confirmation!

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 19:50

DS just gets 8oz follow on formula (he spits out cows milk in a bottle at night. If I give him any at any other time then he doesn't eat his dinner. I make sure that he has at least one full sized yoghurt and some cheese every day as well. Not hard with him as they are his favourite foods.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 20:16

Well I think redcurrant gin is delish FF! I'll go dig up the recipe I use in a few minutes when I go through to the kitchen.

No BF for jamlet tonight either, but she took some cows milk from a cup. I've been thinking about stopping the morning milk feed and just going straight to breakfast, so might try that tomorrow, but I think I'll keep giving her milk at night for a while yet.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 29/07/2008 20:35

OK, redcurrant gin:

500g redcurrants
250g caster sugar
600ml gin

Rinse redcurrants and strip from the stems. Put fruit in a bowl, layer up with the sugar and stir to mix, crushing the fruit.
Put in a sterilsed wide-necked bottle or jar and let the juices run for several hours before filling the jar up with gin.
Cover with the top and shake gently to blend.
Store in a cool dark place for 3-4 months. Shake the jar occasionally untilthe sugar has dissolved.
When ready line a funnel with a double layer of scalded muslin and strain the gin into a clean bottle with a stopper.

FrazzledFairyFay · 29/07/2008 20:42

That's great Jammy, thanks so much! I have already done blackcurrant vodka so will be plastered in a few months' time!
