Caz10 · 20/08/2008 15:54

not me!!

need to get round to joining actually!

short day at work cos of strike so home early and cuddling my dd 2hrs early v nice!

Jewelsandgems · 20/08/2008 16:10

My DD also is not crawling - she does shuffle around on her tummy (kind of like energetic swimming) and she moves this way, but although she gets up and hands and knees, she just falls straight forward.

Have just popped her down for a nap. Talking of cups, she will take juice from my cup and can even feed herself with a cup (but V messy) but was wondering if I should push that, or go with those inbetween bottle/cup thingies like bottles but with a different soft spout - what are you all doing?

She is also making lots of talking-like noices like ba-ba and ga-ga. Am trying to get her to say mama or dada for she hasn't o far!

I am going to put lots of her old stuff on freecycle this weekend, bouncy chair, sterilizer (god it seems like ages ago since we sterilized stuff - well I suppose we did stop at 4 months so it was ages ago!). Have to wash all the fabric off the chair first. Have any of you ever used freecycle? I haven't, but was told it is a really worthwhile thing to do.

Off to make dinner!

kelbel · 20/08/2008 16:15

fifi, cool thanks for accepting me, i've confirmed you as a friend. i live in sunderland, i see you're newcastle, small world eh, i work in newcastle

jewels - re cup, we're using the basic tomee tippe cups, i tried very other one before that and thought nothing was going to work, should have gone sraight to that one, simpliest and cheapest!

fifisboys · 20/08/2008 16:24

Kelbel - Very small world!

Jewels - i've just got a Avent cup but ethan wont use it but i think its coz the spout is too hard so ds1 has claimed it!!
I will try and get a tomee one next time i'm in town.

BouncingTurtle · 20/08/2008 16:37

Will read through messages in a bit but just wanted to say -

Louise - please don't go!! Apology accepted and it's all forgotten now! {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Nopw back from Scotland - what an adventure!
We'd just got on to the A19 (2 mins from our house) when we got a flat! Don't know what we hot but there was 3 deep slashes in the tire
It's a company car and we had to have a particular brand of tire (group discount) only none of the local authorised dealers had any! DH had to ring his works fleet manager to get a different tyre authrised but we still ended up having to drive to Durham, 30 miles away, to get a suitable replacement! So we didn't arrive until teatime, when we should have arrived in Drymen just after lunch!
DS was very good though he did get ratty towards the end as he wanted his tea!
We had lovely weather all day on Tuesday which was fantastic as it was predicted to rain, so we went out to Loch Lomond, had a couple of walks, sat by the Loch and fed some ducks, one of which repaid us by trying to eat Daniel's toes!! He wasn't bothered - he was trying to grab it, but Dh had to kick it away!
We then went to find a picnic stop at it went a bit down hill - we stopped at a picnic spot, parked up, spotted some benches with a lovely view of the Loch - but then got pestered by wasps! I got stung on the neck, and my stepson went into total hysteria!
Poor DH didn't know what to do! We loaded the car back up, and ended up driving to find a pharmacy so I could get some anti-histamine cream (the bit was very painful), all with DSS carrying on - DS didn't really know what was going on. Got some cream, Pharmacist told me I was the 3rd person she'd seen that day with a wasp sting!
We drove around some more but I felt ropey and DSS was refusing to get out of the car whereever we stopped, so ended up back at the hotel - I stayed with DS and DH took DSS to a nearby playground.
Today it was torrential rain so we came straight home - weather is much nicer here now!
Anyway, will catch up properly before I make DS's tea!

BouncingTurtle · 20/08/2008 16:47

Kelbel - good to see your baby will take a cup - gives me some hope that ds will realise he can get drinks from cups!
Caz - I'm with you - I can't really stop ds putting random objects in his mouth so I stopped sterilising a couple of months ago. More worried about chocking hazards!

BTW - thanks to all who said I am lovely! You are all a lovely bunch!

DS crawls backwards and can shuffle around the living room surprisingly quickly!
He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks, but sometimes gets very frustrated.

suey2 · 20/08/2008 17:04

hello all. Is there a growth spurt at 8 months? I had stopped millies late feed when we first came away and she was fine. Last two nights she has woken at 5.30 wanting a bf. It could be the lack of protein in her diet since we have been away- the pots have mechanically reclaimed meat soni decided against and stuck to fruit veg and rice. She took a whole extra pot yesterday but still woke up. Anyone having the same problem?

cazzybabs · 20/08/2008 17:34

Fifi - yes I am

Bt what a nightmare re the tire. Sorry the picnic was not a wholsesome success.

Suey - Probably a growth spurt.

I found out yesterday dd2 may need glasses - I feel all about it whihc is stupid. They are only glasses.

macdoodle · 20/08/2008 19:30

Just requested to join the facebook group - my initials FF - please don't out my real name on here I prefer to stay as anonymous as possible because of my job - but feel like I know you guys so well now even if I don't post that much
Lily so tired just gone to bed before 6pm what do I do if she wakes up let her come downstairs and wake up a bit or treat it as a nightime waking in her room???
If she sleeps through I am gonna be up at 5am

fifisboys · 20/08/2008 19:41

Macdoodle - Just accepted you, dont worry i wont out anyones names..im mp btw
Ethan was in bed about 6.30, he'll be there until about 7. I would treat it as a waking in her room, feed/change then back down or she might get used to being brought down. Thats what i'd do but im harsh . I put my 2 down awake and leave them as long as they are ok,sometimes ds1 is still awake after a hour but i wont get him up.

BouncingTurtle · 21/08/2008 15:37

Hello all!

DS had his 1st session at nursery this morning - wasn't hugely successful. First he kept messing around when I tried to feed him then wouldn't nap before we went so he arrived both hungry and tired. I ended up going into the room and feeding him, then going back in again to give him a cuddle. I passed him back to of of the NNs but he just cried and held his arms out to me (so cute!). Going to make sure he has a nap before we go tomorrow! The room he was in was lovely and he found plenty to play with, and the staff were so lovely and good with him.
I've given them some tips and I'll take some milk along tomorrow as well.
I'm sure it'll get better!

Amani · 21/08/2008 15:52

Hi everyone,

Hope you and your LOs are well? Not been on for a long time as I've had a lot going on....

Please take time out to read my plea

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/8/591395?rnd=1219330166912 really am struggling at the moment....

BouncingTurtle · 21/08/2008 16:39

I've replied!

claireybee · 21/08/2008 21:46

Hi everyone. Am on phone again and find it hard work reading through all the messages so apologies for everything i miss! Ds doing really well, usually bed at 7ish wake around 10,2,5 up for day 6/7. Realise that still sounds awful to most of you but is vast improvement! Well apart from last night when he woke every 1.5/2 hours and screamed and screamed until i fed him! Is amazing how quickly you adjust to more sleep-i was finding it really hard to wake up to him last night. Suey i was also wondering about a growth spurt.id took decent feeds every time last night but he also has a cold so i think it was more that. Even better than the reductions innight wakings is that he is pretty much completely selfsettling now, usually just pop him in bed when he seems tired and off he goes. Am sad i had to leave him to cry to get to this point but has to be worth it. Caz no teeth here either. Cousins wedding really good, was very bad parent though and stayed on

claireybee · 21/08/2008 21:54

Long after all the other parents had taken their kids home to bed. Dd was having a great time on the dancefloor then went to sleep in the buggy and ds was quite happy to be cuddled while he slept so made the most of a rare opportunity and we all stayed out until 1am .obviously if either of them had been unsettled id have gone but they were both quite happy so took advantage! Got quite tipsy too!

claireybee · 21/08/2008 21:59

Eek sorry about that it appears to have got rid of my paragraphs and split the message into two parts! Hopefully wont be too long until i get normal internet back!cant cope with this!

Amani · 22/08/2008 10:09

wow clairy - that's a lot of night waking..!

First time in months DD2 slept from 8:30pm to 6am - couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the clock this morning....had a nice solid 7 hrs sleep....

Amani · 22/08/2008 10:18

Forgot to say, got a big lump on my boob, got an emergancy appointment this AM to get it checked out...imagining all sorts of horrible thing...had it for a couple of days and kept thinking it might go away, but it's so painful now.

cazzybabs · 22/08/2008 10:20

Oh no -I am sure it is nothing to worry about probably mastitis or something like that. I hope you get it sorted. I will be thinking of you

BouncingTurtle · 22/08/2008 11:54

Sounds like a blocked duct Amani, hope you get it sorted soon!
Clairey - mass sympathy on the night wakings, I remember what it was like! Ds seems to have settled down, he has only be waking twice, but getting up early! This morning he was wide awake at 4am so hauled him into our bed and he eventually went back to sleep until 7am - a far more civilised time
He is going for his 2nd session at nursery, and is currently having a nap in his cot so hopefully won't be too tired when he gets there!

claireybee · 22/08/2008 12:51

Not to me it isnt!is vast improvement .last night he only woke at 12 and 2 then up at 7 so even better!the night before was hopefully just a blip.
