StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 12:07

he also does fish impressions when we ask what cows and sheep do

mammyjo · 21/07/2008 12:44

Bless him calling his toy jorj!! F can say cheese! I know this because we were in Tesco's this morning, walking past the babybels, and she yelled out cheeeeeesh! She wouldn't stop saying it until I unwrapped one for her and let her munch it on the way round

Elkie, will be thinking of you on Thursday. Crossing my fingers that all is fine for you all xxx

CD, I really think you need some pamper time, back massage or something maybe? Would dh have the girls for a few hours so that you could get some time out?
Hope the presentation is fab, and that you have taken plenty of tissues!

Eddas, you will have to drink loads on Friday. I want to come and can't, so you have to drink my drinks too I am so I could really do with getting totally shit faced! Oh, how crass I am! Oh well, I have a girls night out on Sept 5th (yes I know it's ages away) to look forward to

mammyjo · 21/07/2008 12:45

Yes, I am one of those parents that lets my children eat as we shop and pay when we get to the checkout

Eddas · 21/07/2008 12:49

aw cute spb and mj. I love it when they do things for the first time. DS hasn't said much yet, and if he has it's been a one off. He was saying georgia a lot but hasn't done that for a while. dd was much more advanced than ds with words and noises. By this age she was making herself very clear and telling us what she wanted. no-one ever believes me but she was, i have a list of the words she was saying when she turned one. the list for ds is dada, mama and nana

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 12:53

so far jorj can be added to mamaaaaaaaa daddeh and CASH, he's a boy of few words too
lol at cheeeeeeeeeeesh. I had to open a pack of breadsticks yesterday on the way round asda

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 12:54

do you think boys are generally a bit slower to speak than girls?

Eddas · 21/07/2008 13:07

i just think that they're all different. People always told us that dd shouldn't be doing this or that at her age and that she knew alot and were we sure she was only I didn't see it until we had ds. We 'suffer' for it now though as she doesn't stop gibbering and quite often comes out with things that makes us go how on earth do you know that and she always right. She's like this at 4, what she'll be like at 10 or 14 is not something I like to contemplate

mammyjo · 21/07/2008 13:13

Ds was early to talk too, but not so good with general mobility stuff like running and jumping iykwim. I think they are all faster with some things and slower with others. He still blathers on like an old woman now!

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 13:14

lol Eddas "were we sure she was only "
Like you were suddenly going to say "Oh you know, you're right, she's actually 6 mo older!"

Eddas · 21/07/2008 13:44

that's what i mean too mj, they do things at different ages but they're all much the same by say 5 when they go to school. DS walked a few months before dd, she was too busy talking

exactly spb, like we wouldn't know how old she was/is odd people! It doesn't help that she's quite tall. The amount of people who've asked if she's at school yet and then look suprised when i say no is amazing. Even the preschool mums all assume she's older

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 13:47

Well at least people don't think she's a boy
I had "Isn't she cute" at the docs this morning, again! Think it's quite amusing, just hope he doesn't get a complex!

elkiedee · 21/07/2008 14:31

D talks quite a lot, but his spoken English words are still smaller in number, he understands lots more though, and nods and shakes his head and waves and says ba ba to people.

He will often kiss us if asked for a "boussa" - that's the word in his CM's language - she's Somali but that country has several different languages and hers (which I can't remember the name of) is more like Swahili (which I think a language spoken in South Africa). One of the other mindees at his CM is a 2 year old boy who apparently chatters a lot in Ghanaian.

SPB, I don't think T looks like a girl. I was always thought to be a boy as a baby, and I don't think I looked like one but my mum just didn't want to dress me in pink.

mammyjo · 21/07/2008 14:39

I got a comment from an old lady about F some time ago, "isn't he lovely". She was dressed in a flowery pink top and jeans that also had pink flowers embroidered on them (I mean F was dressed like that, not the old lady!!) I honestly don't think it means anything at all. Ds occasionally got referred to as a girl, and he was the chunkiest big boy baby you have ever seen!

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 15:40

lol

oooggs · 21/07/2008 15:42

Jack says very little - Erin doesn't stop dog, duck, quack, woof, cheese, mama, daddy and some more I can't remember.

Jacks motor skills are better and he can eat a bowl of rice krispies with a spoon and not drop any, Erin just takes a handful and throws it at her face and hopes some goes in.

They are all very very different

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 15:44

why is cheese such a popular baby word?
rpmsl at erin throwing it at her face hoping some goes in

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 15:45

mind you that's impressive about the rice krispies, not convinced I could do that

oooggs · 21/07/2008 15:48

we eat alot of cheese in this house and as for milk........... maybe we should get a cow

Eddas · 21/07/2008 15:52

DD always got 'isn't he cute' i think that was because of the blue buggy and because she was quite big. Oh and the fact that we often call dd george so I can't really blame people doesn't happen anymore though as she has lovely long blonde hair and normally is wearing her favourite pink clothes She looks beautiful in aqua-blue but she won't let me pick her clothes anymore so the non pink outfits remain in her wardrobe until they're too small

DS has seemingly escaped the is it a boy/girl comments. I don't remember ever being asked. Maybe that's because whenever people approach ds in the buggy dd scowls and says 'why are they looking at my brother' she is a little overprotective

I got my next order today (i did an online shop and went to the shop) and in it was dd's first school skirt

StealthPolarBear · 21/07/2008 16:10

lol, it's lovely that's she's protective
T has just taken all the socks off the radiator and piled them on the table for me. Would be wonderful if I hadn't just hung them there to dry 10 mins ago!

Am off to Devon on friday for nearly a week - dh and I have our 10th Anniv on friday so we are going out for dinner on saturday in Dartmouth. Meeting oooggs on monday and then hopefully a few days on the beach before heading home again. Then the following saturday we are going to wales, then back to Devon ... Keeping them busy for the holidays!!! Phew ... its just plain crazy here!

Nothing else has happened really - SPB seems to ne having a tought time - hope things get better xx Elkie - I'm assuming that you had a 12 week scan and are going back for further tests - hope all goes well xx
