Hello. I'm here-ish again. Alot going on.

EachPeachPearMum · 24/08/2008 16:51

How was it yesterday mrm?

mustrunmore · 24/08/2008 17:44

I cancelled .For many many reasons. But apparently nobody that was there passed anyway (low standard of candidates not overly high company standards!) Main reasons, before you all jump on my back:

1.If I'm gonna just do a serving wench job, I could do it with much less thanan hours travel each way.

  1. If I go back into retail at a lower-than-management level, its gonna burn my bridges re future career, taking a big backstep.
  2. I thought long and hard, and realised that if I ever ended up in the same dept at my friend,he'd be my boss, and I dont think we'd be comfy with that, esp given some of the things we know about each other.
  3. Selling overpriced accessories to middleclass women is really not me. If its a dull job, I wouod at least like to be interested in the product!
5.I'd rather hold on for something I'm passionate about doing, and that gives me some self respect.

My friend was also very mean to me on the phone, at which point I found out that she thinks till work is my maximum ability level etc etc I dont want to seem conceited, but I know I can do more than that, so it really made me think about trying to continue a career rather than a job. Or if I get a 'job' it got to either be fun, or very physical, so at least I get benefit from it.

Rant over.

EachPeachPearMum · 24/08/2008 20:32

Hey mrm- no-ones going to jump on you!
They all seem like really good reasons to me, even each on their own.

I know what you mean about things being beneath you- it is so difficult finding part-time work that is demanding and pays a decent salary. I am a bit worried about after DC2 arrives- I can't see me being a SAHM full-time- it just isn't me, but I don't see how I'm going to find a PT position that pays a salary commensurate to what I'm on now. At least I have the option to job-share, as I'm Local Govt, but tbh- I can't stand the job I'm in currently, even if I only had to do it PT.

mustrunmore · 24/08/2008 20:35

Thank you Out of the people I've spoken to, its been quite an even split as to whether I'm an idiot or mot.

EachPeachPearMum · 24/08/2008 20:43

dunno what a mot is....

I'm so impressed you got accused of trolling!
Brilliant

mustrunmore · 24/08/2008 20:47

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/08/2008 21:53

at blowing up the cooling towers - even I know exactly which ones you mean!

Joseph fabulous, but had a call literally the minute we got out from it to say that dd wouldn't settle at in-laws, so they ended up bringing her back home to us when we got back at 11. Dh had forgotten to pack her sleeping bag (had her blankets, but she likes both) which we think was a large contributory factor, but doesn't bode well for the other 2 nights we want her to stay there next month, plus a potential stay when ds arrives.

mrm - you would have been less than impressed with the restaurant we went to - they had taken the goats cheese and red onion tart off the menu! I had lovely whitebait with tzatziki followed by sea bream with new potatoes, leeks and carrots in a cream, garlic and white wine sauce, with spinach. Then followed it with a pudding of dark chocolate mi cuit with cherries and cherry ice cream. A real treat, and kept me full til bedtime!

mrm - I think the interview experience would have been good, and that the company would be a good one to work for, so think you're foolish in that sense, but ultimately it has to be your decision (I think the excuses reasons were given largely for my benefit EPPM, because she knows that I'd give her a hard time ).
And which 'friend' said that to you on the phone? Not the wife of the friend who works there?

EachPeachPearMum · 24/08/2008 21:58

Ooh- cherry ice cream ...

mustrunmore · 25/08/2008 08:44

No goats cheese I'd have just sat there with a glass of coke watching everyone else eat!

So, I applied for 4 more jobs last night. One part time but I think I cant do the hours as they'd want and it wouldnt be worth it anyway and very dull, one that would be full time but goodish and close , one full time and far away and one full time, great training opportunity, very close to home.

BlueberryBeret · 25/08/2008 19:12

Boo!

Phoenix · 25/08/2008 19:23

Flame?

BlueberryBeret · 25/08/2008 19:25

Oh yeah, that was a second line that has gone astray somewhere...

KelBelle · 25/08/2008 23:13

Hi Ladies!!

Hope you and all your little ones are doing well. Thought I would pop my head in!!

DS is doing really well and starting nursery for 2 sessions next week, he is talking loads and we mastered potty training about 4 months ago and even though we have the odd accident he has done really well. I have just ordered him a cabin bed off ebay for him and looking for a quiet waterproof sheet just incase of accidents as his nappy occassionly leaks at night!!

My divorce is set to come through in about 3 weeks (yippee!!!!), still with Richard and been together a year next month except for a few weeks off this summer!!

CSWS - I'm keeping up with you on facebook, hope baby turns back soon!!

Will try to keep in touch more but it seems to get harder and harder to get any time to myself!!
xxx

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/08/2008 12:51

Great to hear from you Kel! You've missed one status update, as I think ds is the right way at the moment!
