Tried George with some juice in his cup after swimming. He did it quite well and drank quite a bit. Getting there slowly but surely. Not worried hell get there eventualy.

LuckySalem -

Have they got any other doggies that need fostering? They are not saying "no" just that that dog was not right for you iyswim. Sorry though, I know you were looking forward to it.

Is there anyway you could give a permanent home to an older dog (ie about 6yrs old)so its not so bouncey? A dog that bounces on furniture etc with LO around could end up being hell. Also you might get all attached to a dog you foster then have to give it up.

BTW did not give tuna in the end as DS decided he wanted ham & cheese sandwich for tea instead

betterhalf · 04/08/2008 17:47

LuckySalem sorry to hear your news and its totally understandable you're upset over it.

LuckySalem · 04/08/2008 17:49

simpson - DD could have ham and cheese as well?

They don't have another dog at the moment ad don't know when they will.
I could happily offer any dog a permanent home. DP however, wouldn't

simpson · 04/08/2008 18:15

DD had a hipp organic jar but only managed half of it probably coz its a savoury one and she's got a sweet tooth. DH is upstairs putting her to bed and hopefully she is taking a full 6oz bottle.

Sorry to hear there are no other dogs, is there not another place near you (another rescue centre) that would need you? Have a look on google?

DH just came downstairs and DD had 3 ozs not really enough but not going to wake her at 7pm and just see how long she goes.

LuckySalem · 04/08/2008 18:23

I've just emailed another rescue to see if they have any I could help with.
I know we're prob not the BEST house in the world but its gotta be better than a kennel.

Hope you get a better night - I'd leave her TBH, you never know she may sleep RIGHT through.

simpson · 04/08/2008 18:37

She usually sleeps through till 5am then takes 5/6 ozs then down again till 8ish. She has been refusing a bottle at 8.30 so tomorrow am going to cut that out and go straight to weetabix and fruit.

A house is DEFINITELY better than a kennel when we chose my mums dog they had an outbreak of kennel cough.

Good luck with the new place you have emailed, they should get back to soon its in their interests to.

madmouse · 04/08/2008 18:41

Nathan's early days were very traumatic, but it has not put me off. I may just worry a lot.

We are back from the consultant. She is very pleased with how he is doing. She says that at the moment there is no indication that he would not be fine intelectually and she believes his risk of epilepsy has also decreased. He seems to be meeting all his milestones but she has examined him and has found that he is a bit stiff in the shoulders and knees so in all four limbs and she believes he is developing mild cerebral palsy so physio will be very important to keep him supple, but she says we are doing very well with him otherwise he would not have made his milestones. She will want to see him again in six whole months. So overall we are very happy. We knew it was unlikely that he would escape scot free.

Isabellasmam there is limited mileage in comparing, all babies are different and at the moment LuckySalem's little one is quite fast, but that may change later and milestones are fluid and rolling is not even an official milestone.

simpson I do not think that size has much to do with it, as nathan is even smaller (stuck on 14lb at the moment).

madmouse · 04/08/2008 18:44

Lucky, sorry missed your post. The right dog will come for you, don't give up.

simpson · 04/08/2008 18:48

Madmouse - fantastic news about Nathan When will the physio start?

Think you are right about size I have just remembered when DS was the same age as DD I used to go to a baby group every week run by HV (you wouldn't catch me at it now!!) and HV said that the small babies can sometimes be more advanced as they have less weight to carry for rolling standing on feet etc. She wasn't saying it about DS BTW who was a big lump of a thing but a friends LO.

LuckySalem · 04/08/2008 19:31

MM - That's brilliant news about Nathan and I agree with you Re: Baby's development. DD seems to do alot but there are still some VERY simple things that she can't do.

Well DD just had pizza and salad for dinner. It's ALL gone down so she obviously liked it. Was a pain to take all the spices off though (tomato sauce)

gingeme · 04/08/2008 20:01

Brilliant news madmouse. Well done to all of you
Definately agree on babys reaching milestones all different times. I often look at my boys red books to see who did what at what age. Like now ds3 was sleeping through at 7 months old where as ds4 didn't till he was 10 months old. They all got/getting teeth at dofferent times too. Never try to compare your baby to other babys/siblings they all get there in the end.
Right I'm off to watch Eastenders and have a cup of tea.
Hope you have a good night all
xxx

Kelix · 04/08/2008 20:05

MM - Great news about Nathan

Lucky - Congrats they think you will be a good foster home. Sorry to hear the lab wasnt for you Good luck with the other place.

gineme - Glad you enjoyed swimming. Keep promising myself I will take DD but have not got round to it yet.

Simpson - DD has had tuna, she kind likes it but not her fave. Hope DD sleeps through for you. Its a pain when they wont drink as much as usual before bed. I always imagine DD to wake up as soon as I nod off.

Isabellamam - Hello & welcome. I only started posting a couple of months ago but I did do some lurking whilst pregnant.

Hello everyone else, I was going to do a full catch up but DD has other ideas

Oh I posted a couple of pics of DD on my profile page. Take a peek if you like

Bye for now

bluebell82 · 04/08/2008 20:24

hello ladies- I am a very proud mom today!!! We had some professional photos of Ruby yesterday and the photographer loved this one so much he has just popped round to give us a copy ahead of the rest of them. I had to take a pic on my mobile so it's not crystal clear but have to show off my beautiful little girl!!!!!!!

Housemum · 04/08/2008 20:37

Oh she is so cute - those little eyes just call out to you!

LuckySalem · 04/08/2008 21:02

Kelix - You need to make your profile visible as I can't see it.

Bluebell - That pic is gorgeous. I want some professional pictures of DD but DP won't pay for them.

Kelix · 04/08/2008 21:09

Oooops - Sorted now

LuckySalem · 04/08/2008 21:11

Oh Kelix - She is just boootiful.

simpson · 04/08/2008 21:20

Awww the pics are lovely Kelix & Bluebell.

Lucky - I know what you mean I want to get pics of DCs but DH moaning about price. Grr. We got a lovely pic of DS done at his playgroup I wanted DD in it too but she was too little for the small chair and kept slumping forward. I was so gutted

LaTrucha · 04/08/2008 21:46

Hi - just popping in. You've been chatty ladies the last couple of days, haven't you?

We're off home tomorrow. HOORAY! Can't wait. And hopefull ywe can start settling the baby into good sleep again. She's been truly appalling the last few nights. I couldn't tell you how many times she woke.

Sabela is 7 months already! Can't believe it. I second the 'every baby is different' tune. Also, DD seems to do one thing one day and the forget she can do it, sometimes for weeks. Rolling was like that.

A few personals. I have read through but am truly knackered.

MrsMc - what part of SPain? Xavier ok after fall? We want to conceive again around January. Not sure what to do RE BF because am on the pill (had to because of c-section) and don't know if I have AF. All very confusing. Timing if pregnancy is important becuase I'll probably get ill again and we'll be in Spain then so will have loads of help.

Hi Isabella's mum - my dd is called Sabela - it's not actually connected as a name, btu we think alike!

Rockdoc - can I ask how you managed to cut down bf? I want to but the idea also makes me sad.

Filly - new undies you lucky filly!

Madmouse - YAY for you and Nathan. Terrific news. What sort of physio does he have? I'm a big fan of osteopathy as you may remember... SO glad for you though!

Simpson - I'm on mini-pill too btu thinking of coming off. LEt me know how it goes!

Hello all the rest of you - let's see - waves to Lucky, Kelix, Bluebell, JKS, Lilyloo, Gingeme, housemum and betterhalf! Thinkthat's everyone who's been on since my last.

madmouse · 04/08/2008 22:42

Thanks all for your posts. You would not think that cerebral palsy is a reason to be happy, but everything else is going so well, and dh and I both had fellow students at uni with far worse cp than ds will ever have. And after the initial prognosis...well consultant even said that he may prove her wrong about the cp as he has proven her wrong about everything else . She is fab though, she has taken so much time for us and answers all our questions. after that very dark and terrifying first weekend where she worked all weekend to stop the fits we really trust her, so we are not transferring to a local hospital.

Simpson, physio comes on home visit friday. LTrucha I am with you on osteo. The osteopath will ring soon to discuss whether there is point having more sessions with him.

Physio will probably teach us lots of daily exercises and I have discussed with consultant that it may be wise to delay return to work or work far fewer hours so that I can do it all well. The first few years are crucial for the rest of his life and that is more important than my legal career.

Anyway, knackered after aquarobics, time for bed. Nathan asleep since 8, nice one

Lovely pictures ladies.

Home soon La Trucha, sorry it was such a rubbish trip.

Isabellasmam · 04/08/2008 22:46

madmouse not sure what was wrong with your ds but glad that everything seems to be getting better. dd was in hospital with a non-blanching rash only very briefly but it was the worst weekend of my life so I have great sympathy for you. i hope he stays well.

madmouse · 04/08/2008 22:58

Hi isabellasmum, that is something we are all afraid of, aren't we. That non-blanching rash.

Nathan ran into some brain damage at some point before birth and landed in NICU 12 hours after. But look at his pics on my profile and you would not say so . He is my supercutie and I am very proud of him.

Isabellasmam · 04/08/2008 23:02

very cute madmouse!!!!

Isabellasmam · 04/08/2008 23:20

just added pics of my little angel!!!
