DP will need an excuse cos he'll automatically think you're all a bunch of stalking builders!! lol

As for days I can't do Tues/Weds/Thurs as I go mum's on Tues and DP is off weds/thurs.

If I haven't got the doggie then will happily go where-ever you want (be aware I always get lost when I go somewhere new )

LaTrucha · 30/07/2008 16:36

I can do any time.

Hi Guys! Hot isn't it?

My stepmother's cat was knocked down by a car this morning and it was me who had let her slip out by accident. Feel totally rotten about it.

betterhalf · 30/07/2008 17:06

Took Toby to be weighed today and he's 18lbs 11 oz. He decided to wee all over HV which was very funny!

Sorry about the cat LaTrucha

gingeme · 30/07/2008 20:06

Evenong ladies.
Wow what beautiful babies we all have
jks ds4 keeps getting into ds5's Graco toy and shouting 'help'when he realises he can't get out. Wander what hes going to be like when we get the walker out
Think we have a real break through with the sleeping. George slept from 8.05 pm to 6.30am just another half hour and he can go in with his big brothers. Mind you we did go to a BBQ yesterday and he spent a good hour combat crawling around her garden. took him in his sling for a long walk this morning with my friend who was walking her dig and swimming this afternoon so he should sleep well tonight. We shall see.
I am in North London so wouldn't have a clue how to get to Birmingham I'm afraid but if anyone is planning a meet up nearer my neck of the woods I will gladly put my name down
Oh poor cat LaTrucha
Well Im off for a shower as I stink of chlorine. Have a good night all xxx

LaTrucha · 30/07/2008 20:57

LOL gingeme - when we took Sabela to Ramsgate for the day she slept like a log at night (well, kind of an active log, but better). We stayed at home yesterday and she woke up at 3.30 ready to party. . So I suppose I could get her to sleep every night but I think I'd be dead in a week!

madmouse · 30/07/2008 21:45

Well nathan is asleep. I decided that he had become a bit too reliant on my boob to fall asleep, had a whole battle over it this morning as he was screaming for a nap so wanted to suck. So tonight we (dh chipped in) did the pat and put down thing, and a lot of patting without picking up and he fell asleep in 15mins, that is an hour ago. It is amazing the beautiful smiles you get when he thinks he can get out of his cot that way, followed by cries and sobs if you do not oblige, manipulative little monster

The start of combat crawling here too [proud emoticon]. Have a feeling he might be having a better time of it if he did not forget his right arm occasionally. It does everything, he just seems to forget he has it. Well, physio rang today, she is coming next week.

Other than that, I received the mumsnet 'your child is six months' email today and I am proud and grateful to notice that bar the rolling back to front he does everything mentioned that a normal baby should do. Go go my little man!

Meetup: Looks like it will have to be a Monday. How about Monday 25 August at noon to give the Welsh ladies time to travel in? I can collect anyone from new Street or Moor Street station if you let me know your arrival time and the coour of your pushchair/sling . I second the sealife centre. we can meet there or at the famous bull in the bull ring.

Who is in and who has better suggestions?

gingeme · 30/07/2008 22:26

madmouse I am a big fan of the pat and put down routine. I did with all my boys one time or another. I remember when ds4 was little and realy going into one and dh had tried everything he knew what to do. I went in and di the whole pat and put down routine. It took about 10-15 mins but dh was in awe and kept asking 'how did you do that?'. The Baby Listener has alot to do with it

gingeme · 30/07/2008 22:28

LaTrucha? Ramsgate? Do you live near? My parents live in Deal. Just a thought if we ever visited them we could meet?

justkeepswimming · 31/07/2008 05:33

why oh why do we agree to go away/stay with relatives ever???? RANT ALERT!!!

got here yesterday, let ds1 have an explore (he has been here before lots of times but the gaps in between are quite long). then of course each of us thought the other was with him so dh comes in and says 'have you lost him then?' all jokey like, 'um, yes i think so' i said
cue mad panic rushing around, just as cousins arrive, ds2 screaming for no apparent reason. then fil found ds1 off down the hill in their garden.

can i just list the serious hazards here (and they have 2 other gc here at least once a week!):

  1. fish pond - swore it was going when first gc was due, he's now nearly 5, they don't even seem to LIKE it!

  2. very busy road at the front - pil have installed a gate across driveway, fine, but you have to tie it shut with a piece of rope, why can't they put a latch on it????
AND they have a side access on the other side which has no gate/fence/anything so what's the point????

  3. unfenced end of garden;
    a) there is a big hill which leads down to a river/stream
    b) the land next door has old huge greenhouses on it that are full of broken/dangling glass still left from the storms of 1987 (right year?) and for some reason there is no fence between us and them.

ds1 is a runner/houdini, you can't relax for a second with him here

and that's not counting the family heirloom precious teaset in reach, the drinks cupboard, all the drinks glasses plus crystal crap stuff, plu fil's vinyl collection and fil's v expensive electric guitars....i could go on but gawd every time i come here i remember why i get so stressed.
wlll dig out the rescue remedy later

aarrrggghhhhhh.

and ds2 wouldn't sleep until 8.30, was up at 1 for a feed, then has been up since 4.
have given him calpol cos he felt really hot, fed him again, he's just happily lying on the floor next to me now.
so yet another day starts at 4-something.
i couldn't leave him to cry as he was just the other side of the wall to ds1 and i can't face him at 4am !

this is meant to be our substitute 'holiday' as i hated travelling with ds1 last year (mind you we went to a crappy resort in majorca, i'm tempted to try travelling agin to see my brother in bermuda if he has his wedding there ).

i want to go home already

so LaT i'm with you now!

sorry for excessive whingeing and moaning about me me me....

justkeepswimming · 31/07/2008 05:34

oh and madm - ds2 still not rolling here either, now 6months 1.5 weeks.

LaTrucha · 31/07/2008 10:03

I'm looking forward to reading your rant JKS cos I think I'll be in sympathy.

Just wanted to say

I WISH I lived in Ramsgate. Unfortunately it was only a visit ot my friend. We live in Aberystwyth. Many, many miles away. We're currently stayig with parents in essex, though so made the trip across.

LuckySalem · 31/07/2008 13:30

Ok!! - Sounds fine to me, Mind if I meet you at the sealife centre? Might be easier to find something like that.

MM - DD still doesn't roll back to front. She can get so far but hasn't figured out how to move her arm yet. She doesn't crawl yet either so nathan is ahead of her there.

However, [proud mum] She walks Hold her hands and she's off, it's so funny watchin her. lol

JKS - Sounds like you might need more than 1 rescue rememdy there!! Hope it gets better for you.

lilyloo · 31/07/2008 14:20

Bleuuuuh feeling very sorry for myself today. Have a virus i think. Went to bed as soon as dp came home last night feeling tired , shivery but have high temperature.

DD was then up from 10.30 until 1 crying so think she may have it too gave her loads of calpol. Dp mega stressed cause he had to do tea/bath/bed because i couldn't even get off sofa.

So he has gone to work exhasted and i am lay here desperate to go to bed but dd not having any of it

Great timing i should be getting my shopping in and cleaning for Sunday too !!!

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 31/07/2008 14:21

I feel for you JKS. It's no holiday at all really is it?

madmouse · 31/07/2008 14:49

Lily stressing over sunday won't help. Contact as many guests as possible and get them to bring a dish, then get back on sofa/bed and stay put. Virus needs time.

JKS that is not a holiday, caravan in skeggie is a better idea.

Nathan and I went swimming with my best mate and here babe (18 months). He is the original water babe, had such fun kicking about. He was a bit warm though when we went and pretty warm when we got back, and moany. So had some calpol now asleep.

am on dh's computer as he has meeting downstairs, nathan sleeping on guestroom sofa. I hate this keyboard.

speak soon

gingeme · 31/07/2008 15:18

Oh jks find out where the drinks cabinet is
Must have been a night for it ds1 and 2 were staying a t a friends last night when I got a call from friends Mum saying she was going to walk ds2 back as he had just been sick loads in her house. He came back and went straight to bed with the bucket. ds5 woke at 2.30 very hot and crying. Gave him Calpol and some Anbesol liquid on his gums. He settled till about 5 when I gave him a bottle and some more Anbesol. He woke again about 6.15 where dh took him into the front room so I could get a bit more sleep.
ds2 has been in bed most of the day. Hes on the sofa now watching tele and dozing.

LaTrucha · 31/07/2008 15:30

Is anbesol good? Beetr than Dentinox? I'm still on Calpol and Ibuprofen here. I swear tooth number three is coming.

bluebell82 · 31/07/2008 18:36

anybody else have difficulty getting their LOs to drink milk?? Ruby eats like a trooper ie.

6oz this morning
2 weetabix + half a banana for breakfast
4oz before lunch
Cottage pie then a petit felous with pureed pear and apple (3 cubes)
then 4oz before dinner
Chicken with toms, beans, potato then another petit felous with half a banana mashed...

She is only having 16oz a day and thats a struggle!!!!!
She doesn't like it in her food so have tried that plus she is not a massive water drinker.. still sleeping 13 hrs unbroken a night so shall I just stop maoning!

LaTrucha · 31/07/2008 21:28

What does HV say? It sounds fabulous to me. especially the sleep. I currently long for four hours in a row.

madmouse · 31/07/2008 21:30

bluebell that is a lot of food. It may be worth speaking to your hv to see if you should reduce food to ensure more milk.

gingeme what bug now?

well, nathan is ill too. After his nap he was just so unhappy, crying, rocking to one side, moaning, saying a a a a in a way that sounded like pain. In a whim I opened the NHS birth to 5 book and it said that after a cold babies often get ear infections. I rang the doctor and I could come straight away. Half an hour later we were home again with antibiotics, little man has a double ear infection , no wonder he was so unhapp, even as an adult I found ear infections so hard to cope with. Well, he had his first dose of antibiotics plus more calpol at 5.15pm and by bedtime he was partying, kicking his legs, waving his arms, cooing talking. I wonder how long poor thing has been bothered by his ears? .

He may also eat better when he is better? .

LuckySalem · 31/07/2008 21:31

Bluebell - I think As long as she's having some milk, I'd have thought it was ok. She must just be LOVING her food so much that its filling her up.

I'm with LaTrucha - Would love to have that much sleep. At the moment I'm getting 8 hours so can't really complain but I want more!! lol

nicky6 · 31/07/2008 21:39

spoke to hv yesterday and apparently dont stress on the amount of milk they have - they are meant to be switching over - just have to make sure they get enough calcium and petit filous has lots as far as i know.

plus the milk you mix up in food counts and cheese in things. have dropped milk at lunch time .
we have milk in cereal about 5-6 oz none at lunch 5-6 oz with tea then 6-7 before bed. charlie sleeps 13 hours too so no complaints.

LaTrucha · 31/07/2008 21:41

p.ps Bluebell - Sabela vastly reduced her milk at first stages of weaning. She's now a boobie obssessive once again, but I think that's only because she's teething and she's insecure because we're away / Dh is away.

I think third tooth is on the way!
DH home tonight. YAY!

bluebell82 · 31/07/2008 21:43

thanks guys- I give her milk 30 mins before her solids to ensure she is starving I just think she doesn't like milk very much.! She loves her food, I have started frezzing plastic cup fulls and she has one per meal which to be fair is the size of a jar! Troffer!

I see the HV weekly at the moment because of the way I have been feeling and she is happy with Ruby's intake, I am just comparing her to other babies I think1 The little babe has such a strong will when she doesn't want her milk she won't take it!!!!

MM- Hope Nathan gets better, Ruby's only had a little cold so far dread her getting poorly it's horrible to see them in pain.

Lucky good luck with the house visit tmrw x

LuckySalem · 31/07/2008 21:51

Bluebell? - How did you know about the homevisit? Oh Facebook?

Speaking of which DD has more piccies on there (I can't upload them to here for some unknown reason)

For all that don't have FB - here they are

Also I'm having my homevisit for the doggie tomorrow (as bluebell has said) so please keep your fingers crossed for us
