The thread title is for the January babies who have become/are soon to be big brothers and sisters

Can't remember all from last thread except
Wilie congrats on the move and hope visit to vino goes broodily well
eandh - potty?!! Aleady?!! I'm only just getting there with ds1!!
DH - I went to a wedding on due date with ds1, but that was because I wanted him out. Alas, despite energetic ceilidhing, to no avail! Also went to Halifax for a wedding when about 38 weeks with ds2 (on Loosh's ds's bday in fact!), was a little nervous in case I went into labour so far from home, but didn't exactly expect to go early (just as well, eh?). But I guess is different if you're going for a c/s

J will sit on his potty but then gets engrossed with playing with his willy so that the wee goes everywhere except the potty

He peed on the bathroom floor last night and then paddled in it shouting 'wee-wee!'

He then says 'poo-poo' so I dash off to grab the potty and he grins at me whilst I try to find it and goes 'gggrrrrrrnnnnppphhhh' and shits in his nappy instead. Grr!

I'm only half-arsed using the potty - will start with avengeance in six months probably....then again I wanted him in a bed by 18months but the thought makes me quiver with fear so that idea has been shoved back too....

Lizzzombie · 11/07/2008 15:06

ugh - I am soooooooo hot.
Have totally cleaned the entire house (including proper dusting!) & made a lemon drizzle cake. However, I used the Marslady recipie which is for a tray bake and I used the same amount for a ring cake tin. It sort of rose and filled in the middle of the ring. So when I turned it out I had a very large 'plug' of lemon sponge cake. Hmm...lets just say it didn't stay around for long! Nom Nom!

DP's brother, sister in law and sister and niece are due between 3-5pm. I don't know what to do with myself now. I've even swept up the back garden.

I quite fancy a sleep. But think a shower is in order.
Its sooooooooo hot here! (sorry Rgee)

2Happy - Mothercare do night garden pants.

Lizzzombie · 11/07/2008 15:08

DJ screams everytime I put him on the potty. I have it out in the bathroom so he can 'make friends with it' but I am not planning on actively doing any potty training until next summer. Unless he shows amazing feats of maturity. He has only just learnt the words wee wee and poo poo so I am sure it will take a while to realise that thats what the potty is for!

eandh · 11/07/2008 15:13

Wilkie - he'll love the bed, we did a week of rapid returns with H and now she goes down without a fuss and if she isnt quite ready to slepp she stays in bed and plays with Sally (her ragdoll who lives in her bed) she is an angel sleeping compared to the other monster who still gets up at night (H sleep 6/6.30 till 6/6.30, E goes up around 6.30 asleep by 7 and then wakes up between 1 and 2 and wants me grrrrrrrrrrrr

Lizz - am so impressed all the cleaning/tidying and baking cakes sounds delicious. Its warm here too, dh on about taking E&H to beach with friends on sunday whilst I car boot and this sounds really horrible but I dont trust him with both of them on a beach they can leg it pretty quickly and normally in opposite directions, but I can't take either of them with me as they'll be so bored.

2happy - knickers were from Asda in the sale 4 packs for £1.50!

Wilkiepedia · 11/07/2008 15:31

Shurrup about your lovely weather. It is pissing it down again here. Nightmare for business!

Wilkiepedia · 11/07/2008 15:32

I am cross stitching in the shop - THAT'S how much it is raining!

eandh · 11/07/2008 15:42

What are you cross stitching I did a lovely sampler when pg with E and did her details on it, started one for H and havent finished it (must do that)

I am at work talking about credit crunch/recession/the banks recent crap press coverage

Wilkiepedia · 11/07/2008 16:05

Rocket for his bedroom

eandh · 11/07/2008 16:09

cool!

Guadalupe · 11/07/2008 16:56

I didn't mean that 16 is too large, of course, just that I don't want to become that because of my operation when all my clothes are 14!

ds2 won't sit on the potty without clothes on, he quite likes it as a seat.

As of last night he can properly climb out of his cot rather than occasionly managing it and I had to put him back 32 times. I moved the cot away form out bed so he had further to fall thinking this might put him off, but no, he simply balances on the top and turns round and slides down expertly and then claps himself.

I think we might have to go for a bed and stairgate on the door.

Reggiee · 11/07/2008 18:23

No plans for either bed moving or potty training here. Will cross the bed bridge when she climbs out / gets too big although I do keep mentioning to dh that it's probably not that far away and we need to sort out our bedrooms. Not sure I can face putting lo back to bed 32 times!!
As for potty training, I'm with Lizz and reckoning next summer unless the lo starts chatting about it. She has just becomne obsessed saying wee wee everytime she hears the loo being flushed.

Still raining here (yawn).

2H / Kat finally got my holiday photos on the computer and printed off today. Will email them (well, the relevant ones rather than the ones of me and famille on Hetherwotsit railway) when I'm next on the PC (rather than usual laptopping in lounge).

Anyone doing anything exciting this weekend? I've been blown out by my mate I was supposed to be visiting so now no plans.

2Happy · 11/07/2008 18:59

Cool, Reg, will check email anon.

Exciting for the weekend? Depends on your definition of "exciting"... PILs ruby wedding anniversary, so mil - mother of 3 boys, 4 grandsons - decides on a pink themed party . Buggered if I'm buying something pink for the boys to wear for one day only. Anyway, not only do I have to make 2 flans, one trifle and a salad, I'm also in charge of all the food/cleaning on the day so mil can mingle. Then dh said to mil, because a bunch of people are coming up on the saturday (party sunday) "oh you won't want to cook 2 days, why doesn't everyone just come to ours on the saturday and 2H'll cook". Ohfuckingreally, dear! So now have 9+kids tomorrow. Oh well, I don't mind being in charge of food and stuff sunday, means I don't have to be sociable to PILs many tedious friends and relatives bad dil!!

Sounds like a lovely weekend 2H . Look forward to hearing the amusing mil tales on Sunday evening! Hope you survive!

Not attempting potty training here either. I started early with Luke and it drove me crazy so I am wainting so that I can be one of those mums who say 'oh she did it in 3 days, and we have had no accidents' .

We are moving her into a toddler bed tommorrow though, but that is because I cant lift her much, and wont be able to after the cs. I have bought a bed guard that folds down and as she likes sleeping the wrong way round in her cot, I am planning on putting the bed so that the short feet end is against the wall. So actually, not sure she will even be able to get out!

Wilkie- Bummer about the job but hopefuly the time will fly. That rocket is very cool too.

Hi Mrs C! GLad you are starting to feel normal again.

LTH- I had one of those cups for Luke when he was little and it took him a few days of getting really cross and throwing it, then he suddenly got it. I also bought some of those cups for Ruth and she got her hand stuck in it and went MENTAL. Sure she thought it had eaten her hand! She then cried everytime she saw it so I passed it on to dsis.

2happy- Yey to ds1. Luke got the hang of poos first too. Soooooo much better when they are using the toilet! Luke does monster poos and they were horrid to carry upstairs and put in the toilet.

Tantrums here too. Do you think it crept up on us, or has just been gradually getting worse?! Took Ruth to a sign class today and she threw a wobbler because I wouldnt let her have 3 biscuits! Rolling around, screaming, stamping her feet. Hard not to laugh though!

Dragonhart · 11/07/2008 19:16

Oh and Urban- Glad all went well with the scan. Have you tried a hug-a-bub baby carrier? Love the look of them. Worried the didymos will be too hot for me running around after L+R!

Guadalupe · 11/07/2008 19:17

tantrums at this age are new to me, neither of my older two had them now, in fact, dd never really had any but ds1 was awful around 2-3. I am slightly loathe to start bedtime if it will be like last night!

Are you having another baby to, Dragon? Congrats!

Dragonhart · 11/07/2008 19:22

Yes, due in Aug. Feeling massive now though. Cant believe I have 5-6 weeks to go!

Guadalupe · 11/07/2008 19:25

gosh, that's not long though is it? Well, probably seems ages to you! How exciting. Quite a few of my RL friends have just had or are just about to have babies. Luckily I don't feel broody.

One of them has called her new boy the same name as my ds, a very old friend, it does seem a bit odd but you can't own a name I suppose.

Dragonhart · 11/07/2008 19:30

We ar ehaving a nightnmare about boys names.

Quick opinion form all on Jan ladies;

What do you think about illiteration (sp?) in names. Thinking about Daniel but not sure about it with our surname (think most of you know it from FB)

eandh · 11/07/2008 19:31

Exciting plans for weekend tonight takeaway and ironing

Tomorrow morning FIL picking DH up at 6.30am to play golf, he'll be home by lunchtime, then we need to cut grass, weed borders, take a small tree out, paint decking
Cook dinner and go to bed!

Sunday up at 6am to leave at 6.45 to go to boot fair, dh will bring girls up to boot fair around 9am for essential hairbrushing/putting in ponytails! Then they are off to softplay, meet them back here in the afternoon and do bbq for dinner

Wow my life is just so exciting

eandh · 11/07/2008 19:33

oooo I like Daniel and think its fine with your surname

Mum and Dad have a friend called Steve Stephens

2Happy · 11/07/2008 19:55

(prepares to offend hundreds of people on MN)...

It's OK, DH, and better than calling all your kids by names starting with the same first letter. Or, as PILs did, consecutive letters, but backwards, cause that makes them, like, reeeeaaaallllly clever (K, J, I from oldest to youngest) Why??

theSuburbanDryad · 11/07/2008 20:04

of those with good weather here. It has been pissing it down here. I went to pick Z up from nursery and I couldn't see for the spray. Luckily I drove today rather than walking!!

We have a potty (a v coo black one from Ikea - Z is my little baby Goth dude!) and so far it's been used for a hat, for carrying his bath ducks around, for paddling in (after he poured bath water in) but not for weeing in. He will say, "Weeeeeee!!" But i think that's because I pick him up and say "Weeeeee!!" rather than it being about urinating IYSWIM. He is also nudey child though and we've had quite a few "surprise packages" about the place!

His tantrums, on the other hand, are well-developed into full on meltdowns now. He's so well-behaved at nursery I'm extremely tempted to leave him there! He tantrums at the smallest thing - but mainly about not being allowed to climb on the table/get in the fridge/bounce on my head/eat wires. Delete as applicable. I was going to be serene, calm, positive reinforcement mama when I was pg. I am sure all my veteran mum mates are PTSL at the screaming banshee I've become!!

No idea about what to do with his bed situation. We've just got him into the travel cot, which he can't climb out of (yet - I'm sure it won't be long) so I'm loathe to upset the apple cart and try putting him in a bed. Also not sure where we're going to put his bed yet, as there's no room in our house!! We're looking to move before the new baby gets here, but it depends if we can afford it. House prices certainly do look like they're getting more reasonable.

MrsC - good to see you back, hope you feel ok. If you ever fancy it I pop up on MSN sometimes!!
