The thread title is for the January babies who have become/are soon to be big brothers and sisters

Can't remember all from last thread except
Wilie congrats on the move and hope visit to vino goes broodily well
eandh - potty?!! Aleady?!! I'm only just getting there with ds1!!
DH - I went to a wedding on due date with ds1, but that was because I wanted him out. Alas, despite energetic ceilidhing, to no avail! Also went to Halifax for a wedding when about 38 weeks with ds2 (on Loosh's ds's bday in fact!), was a little nervous in case I went into labour so far from home, but didn't exactly expect to go early (just as well, eh?). But I guess is different if you're going for a c/s

Regee- When I put Ruth into her bed last week, I stopped putting her in a sleeping bag and had bought a duvet and pillow set from mothercare sale. She is doing ok, but I often find her face down ontop of the duvet rather than under it. She also tends to throw the pillow off the bed too. Her favourite position is lying face down right up against the bed guard with Mrs Rabbit under her tummy and her botton in the air!

eandh · 17/07/2008 19:13

DH - sounds a perfect afternoon (have you not got cinderella 2, we have had the trilogy on when its been a miserable day ) glad he enjoyed his party and at Ruth looking at your tummy, I remember Ellie thinking my belly button was the way to communicate with Hattie

Rgee - hattie has duvet and pillows since shes been in her bed, shes yet to sleep under duvet as she hates covers but she does snuggle into her pillow, we had a cotbed duvet for Ellie as she stayed slightly longer in her cot (in fact we gave it away a few weeks ago or you could have had it)

Wilkiepedia · 17/07/2008 19:32

Reggiee - J has a pillow and duvet but doesn't sleep under duvet

Here's a dilemma for you. Long and short of it is that I have made a new friend, she is lovely and we get on really well. We went out for a couples meal with her and DH and me and DH. It was a nice enough evening and we have seen them twice as a couple since. However, he has got my mobile number from her phone and instead of her texting me to arrange stuff and general chit chat - he does. He texts at least once a week asking how I am and stuff. I really don't like it. SHE is my friend, not him and although he is a nice enough bloke I don't want to be best mates with him. I now feel really uncomfortable and have been ignoring his texts and just texting her but I feel like there is a bit of an atmosphere now. Would you say something or would you just ignore him? It's nothing sexual by the way, just general friendly texts but not the sort of texts I would expect to get from my friend's DH (and no Reggiee and Vino it's not you DH's )

Guadalupe · 17/07/2008 19:46

F is out of the travel cot now. Gah. this is driving memad, it was to be my solution as I thought they were too tall to climb from. Fool.

Wilkie - That is inappropriate I think. I can't imagine a friend's husband texting to see how I am for no reason if we were not actually friends ourselves. I do text some now and then but usually for a reason and quite often because I am good friends with them already, not just through a couples dinner.

eandh · 17/07/2008 19:56

slightly strange, I only ever text dh mates if we are having a 'big' couples nights out and I text everyone then to get their menu choices otherwise they dont text me and vice versa. Not really sure how you broach the subject

Reggiee · 17/07/2008 20:36

Agree a bit Wilkie. Do you go out with her on your own? I'd ignore if it were me and continue communicating with my female friend.

Cheers for the sleeping bag info all.
Mrs C can't believe lo got out of the travel cot. Trying to imagine my lo doing it, and must need a hefty swing to get a leg up!

Wilkiepedia · 17/07/2008 20:47

Yes I go out with her on my own but he is trying to MAKE us be a coupley friendship which DH and I don't particularly want or need! I am happy to see him on occasional evenings out but the rest of the time I just want to see her and DD.

Would you mention it OR if she mentioned it what would she say? She asked me the other day why I hadn't text her DH back and I said 'Well, I text YOU back?' Maybe I should have said 'Cos I'm uncomfortable texting your DH when I don't know him that well...'

eandh · 17/07/2008 20:49

i think the 2nd bit about being a bit uncomfortable texting her dh, personally I wouldnt like it if one of my friends was texting dh!

Reggiee · 17/07/2008 20:57

Do you think her DH is looking for a "fwiend" and is using you to get closer to your DH? Sounds like your female mate knows about her dh texting you so don't think there's anything sinister. Just seems very wierd though.

Wilkiepedia · 17/07/2008 21:03

Yes Reggie, she defo knows that he is texting so not anything sinister just really annoying. My sis reckons they are swingers . I just don't want to be making a big deal out of it but if my DH was texting HER I would think it was weird and I am NOT a jealous person.

Perhaps he is just lonely and looking for company? But I don't want to be the one!! I want GIRL friends cos my DH works so much, I don't want MALE friends.

Lizzzombie · 18/07/2008 07:51

Wilks - Am inclined to agree with your sister. It smells a bit like that. Especially as she asked you why you hadn't replied. (to guage how comfortable with him imo) weird. Just be honest with her and I am sure it will be ok. He's a big boy at the end of the day.

Mrs C - How on earth does F get out of the travel cot???????? I can't see DJ being able to do that for ages, unless he grows a foot or so!

He sleeps with a pillow (which he loves) but I'm not bothering with a duvet until later in the year when its cold again.
I gave up on sleeping bags ages ago as when he stands up in his cot he would stand on the end and nearly garott himself. We use sleep suits (all in ones) when it gets cold.
My sisters boys used sleeping bags for ages though. They were easily past 2 years and still using them.

I have toothache.

Have you all checked the M&S sale out?
Towelling hoodie (perfect for the beach) £10 to £5
Bob builder pac a mac - £12 to £5
Bargainous!

Lizzzombie · 18/07/2008 08:36

LTH/PCF - Have you been here?
Have some tesco vouchers to use up and am looking for something different to Drusillas.

Wilkiepedia · 18/07/2008 10:52

Well - weather is shit here again. Are we gonna get a summer at all???

eandh · 18/07/2008 10:55

its been quite nice down south bit overcast today but warm

I am drowning in paperwork today and my Mum and Dad are taking Ellie to France with them on Sunday and Mum just ohoned to say they need a written letter from me and dh authorising them to take he rout of the country, so have to add that to my 'to do' list now

Lizzzombie · 18/07/2008 11:27

its muggy muggy muggy here.
I wish it would just rain and get it over with.

I've just walked home from town in bare feet. Every pair of shoes I own hurts my feet at the moment. I have evil blisters.
Am considering buying sensible shoes. Will post a link. Please let me know your opinions.

here are these too dykey?
They are soooooo comfortable!

vinorouge · 18/07/2008 13:02

Lizz I like those shoes (a lot). Can't beat Clarks for comfort imo. I started shopping online in m&s sale last night then couldn;t be bothered. I only seemed to be buying pjs anyway.

Well i just nearly drowned sylvie. she pooped all over me and herself as she was feeding so a bath was needed. I have one of those sponge supports so propped her up on that and went back into her room (stupid I know) to get the dirty things. As I was doing it I thought I should really be with her, went back and there she was splutrering in the water. I whipped her out and winded her (wasn't really sure what to do). She has fed twice since, pooped again and is now sleeping (and still breathing) so all seems ok.

Am in a pensive mood today. Not got much motivation to do anything, am half heartedly writing thank yous for sylvie presents, wondering what to do with myself and girls tomorrow as dh at cricket. We may go the park and library then just play at home. It will probably rain. I need to get Ellens fet measured actually so that could a be a job to get done.

Lizzzombie · 18/07/2008 13:09

Vino - Glad you like them. Thats one positive comment then! (DP thinks they are nasty)
I dropped DJ into the bath when he was Sylvies age. I wouldn't bath him for ages afterwards. Until I discovered the plastic molded bath supports which I used until he could lever himself out of & sit up on his own. Must have been scary for you. xxx

vinorouge · 18/07/2008 13:15

Tell DP that if you buy them they will be so comfy you will wear them all the time so it will be a value for money purchase. And no more moans from you having sore blistered feet.

eandh · 18/07/2008 13:36

I have started buting clarks shoes again as every other pair of shoes either pinhed my toes/gave me blisters, they would look nice with jeans/cropped trousers so go for it!

Vin - glad everything ok now, am sure we've all done a similar thing at one time or another (well I certainly ave and so has lizz ) Clarks have a good sale on at the mo, loads of girls styles in the sale I got Hattie some lovely lilac closed toe shoes with velcro strap and little white butterfly on front reduced from £26 to £12 last weekend!

I am still drowing in paperwork but had a portion of chips from chippy at lunch time so am feeling a bit happier now

Lizzzombie · 18/07/2008 13:38

Am going to the clarkes shopping village in Street, Somerset when I go and see my Mum in a couple of weeks. I am going to mad in retail outlet heaven!
Glad its not just me that has started buying clarkes shoes again!

Wilkiepedia · 18/07/2008 14:07

Lizz - sorry mate but a thumbs down from me. Why don't you get some nice Birkenstocks? Mine have just died - the strap broke after 5 years service

Vino - oh god how horrible. I think as well, you are so used to E being quite self-sufficient in the bath that you can pop in and out of the room so with Sylvie, it just becomes habit. Although, warning to all, my sis just had to deal with a 2.5 year old who drowned in the bath when his mum went to answer the phone and was gone 5 mins

EAH - nice to have a break from Ellie for a couple of days though! How long are they going for?

Am at work today - I honestly feel like my brain cells are slowly withering away in this bloody shop!

2Happy · 18/07/2008 14:40

C4 have double bill Desperate Housewives at lunchtimes.... the boys are asleep, the ironing is done, heaven! (simple things...)

I like those shoes, Lizzz, though can never find styles that look nice on my ocean going liners relatively large feet. Love Clarks for comfort, though [middle aged emoticon]

Just for the day Wilkie - Although she is now saying she doesnt want to go grrrrr, we only live 30mins from Dover, so they'll hop across on the ferry (about an hour) then they'll have a drive around and go to beach/shopping and then catch ferry back at tea time

Mum and Dad are desperate to take the kids on holiday and I am the meany that keeps saying 'No', I have agreed they can take them to Butlins for a long weekend next year and I'll let them take them abroad when they are a bit older (Hattie will need to be 4 or 5 before I'll feel comfortable with them not in the same country as me)
