I ladies thought I would start this..

I cant believe they are starting to and are going to be turning one.. This year has flown over.. I miss being pregnant. But i love watching lee playng with his older brother and sister, it always makes me smile.
I love the fact that he is now playing properly , will go to his toy box pull himself up and see what he wants to play with.. normally after throwing everything round the front room first..No such thing as a tidy room in this house.. How do people do it.

Hope everyone is ok.. speak soon

Thanks for the reassuring words . I'm not going to dwell on the special needs thing - just want enjoy things. I had a bizarre conversation with O this morning, witnessed by DH. I was all ready for work, gave O a cuddle, she grabbed my freshly lipsticked lips (a regular occurrence) then looked at her hands and I swear she said "What's that?" so I said "Lipstick" - she replied "Oh yeah". It was hilarious (well, if you were there of course!).

Madmum - sorry DD is suffering, and it sounds like you are having a hard time too. Lack of sleep is just the hardest thing.

Jennster - you're coming from the same place as us with the truffling. We think O looks like she is snuffling for truffles!! Moving house a week before Christmas while pg sounds like a challenge and a half.

Meep - hope you are not too stressed at work? When are you starting maternity leave? I am due on Feb 18th, but because this pg took us a bit by surprise, I'm going to have to work for as long as possible so I think I will take two weeks holiday starting 2 Feb, then start mat leave as late as poss. Health permitting of course.

I'm vowing to be prepared for trick or treaters tomorrow. Last year I had to hide with the lights off cos I'd forgotten to go out and buy any treats .

Right, off to get an early train tonight as feel soooo full of cold. Hope all well.

pulapula · 30/10/2008 19:38

Catstar- I planned to start my mat leave late last time, but in the end, I was too knackered and changed my mind and finished 4 weeks before DSs elective cs. This time I'm sure I'll be knackered, so plan to finish after easter (mid-April) even though LO not due til late May! DS and DD will still be in nursery 2 days a week so hope to get lots of rest then! Here's me planning my mat leave and not even had 12 weeks scan yet lol (a week tomorrow and can't wait).

meep · 01/11/2008 07:01

I worked until 2 weeks before dd last time round. I was huge, hot, swollen and exhauseted! I would love to take longer this time but as I only get statutory maternity pay, I would rather get as much money out of my work before I go so that I can take longer off with the new baby! And like pula I'd like to keep dd in nursery for a bit to give myself some rest - so need to save for that!
Loving Little O's chat about the lipstick. Minimeep is obsesssed with the contents of my makeup bag and brushes her hair with my blusher brush !
Minimeep has now taken 5/6 steps on her own - soooo cute!!!!!
Stress has eased a bit - my line manager is back from hols and was horrified at how i'd been spoken to, so at least I have somone who is supportive of me!

catstar · 10/11/2008 13:13

Hi there - just checking in on you all! It's very quiet on here at the moment - if you are anything like me, you are spending your time picking stuff up off the floor, chiselling Shreddies off the walls, doing laundry and trying to be a good mother and wife! And growing a baby inside!

Pula - hope your 12 week scan brought good news! Is everyone esle getting on okay?

Last week brought conjunctivitis and chicken pox for Little O so more time off work for me - hurrah!!!

Right off to catch up on Strictly Come Dancing now that O is finally asleep!

Take care everybody!

Hi Catstar, yes 12 week scan was fine. Baby now due 25 May and everything arranged for elective section. Consultant also asked me to consider sterilisation at the same time if I decided not to have any more kids- seems so final though so not sure I can do it!

Booked in for nuchal translucency scan on Thursday so hopefully i will get a low risk score and can then relax til 20 week scan...

twoplusone · 11/11/2008 09:11

Glad all the scans are going well..
I have put Lee in to creche one morning a week 9-12 just to give me a little break and so he can socialise with other children his own age.. he loves it.
I am missin hubby like mad and cant wait till he gets home next month, cant believe we have only had one month together this year.. Its a good job I love him so much..

Lee is cutting more teeth he now has 8 top teeth 6 front 2 back, 3 obn the bottonm and is getting 2 more, and dont i know it..

He is also a climber I found him on my dinning table, he likes standing in the coffee table, and jumping on the edge of the sofa. he has also attempted to climb over the back of the sofa. he is using any toys to stand on now to reach things.. funny but annoying.

Take care everyone.xx

just had my 20 week scan and the bean iseems to have everything in the right place!

I never really mentioned on here but we had a high risk of downs after our nuchal scan. Decided tp have an amnio and everything came back okay. Was a very stressful time so I was a bit anxious in eth run up to the 20 week scan.

But it is all good and I now have furipous wriggling from the bean. We didn't find out the sex of the baby though I do have a sealed envelope in my marternity notes thta has the sex of the baby in it - I have had to hide it from dh in case he comes home from teh pub one night and decides to have a look !

Poor wee Little O - hope she is on the mend?

Minimeep has taken to night wking again - she has lots and lots of teeth all coming in at once - ugh. So we were awake nearly every hour from 1.30am last night. Mum and Dad looked after her today and she napped for the grand total of 5 hours throughout the day - I was sooooo jealous!!!!

pulapula · 11/11/2008 21:19

Meep, what was your risk score? I can't decide what I would count as high risk and think about having a CVS/amnio, as there are obviously risks with those. I am just hoping I am low risk. I'm just having the scan at this stage- blood test with MW at 15 weeks.

pulapula · 11/11/2008 21:27

2+1- what is it with boys and climbing- DS is the same but not quite at Lee's standard yet. He has so many bumps from falling over/down.

DS has 12 teeth- front 8 + 4 molars. Meep- I can sympathise- Ben was really disturbed with his molars for a few weeks. So glad he's back to sleeping through again- hope you get a solid night again soon.

DS is finally walking everywhere, can pivot/turn/side steps/walk carrying things- its amazing how quickly they learn new skills.

But does he call me "mummy" - NO!. His favourite word on waking up is "milk". His only other words are "dada", "ball", "more", "cuddle", "gone",and "dog" and he can do signs for "again" and "please". But he understands a lot and will for example fetch his shoes from the basket and sit on the bottom stair ready when he hears the words "are we going outside". Cute.

twoplusone · 12/11/2008 15:47

pulapula your los speech is brilliant, lee will do sign for milk, he only says mam and fish,,, well ish.. DD has just had to get lee of the dinning table!!!.
he has just started to say Ta when i give him something. lee will follow simple commands like can you get your dummy, where is the book ect.

Meep glad everything went well with your 20week scan.. you are better than me if you havent looked at inside the envelope yet!!.I am so jealous of those of you having another baby, but I really dont think we will be going for number 4 even though I really want another baby.. just not practicle seem as I seem to be on my own most of the time not sure how I would cope!!!
My dad is coming to visit next week with his gf they are coming friday till the wednesday I cant wait to have some adult conversation around the house, and not having to sit on my own everynight..

Dh phoned me yestersday which was nice, I am missing him so much. Just looking foward to christmas now.. have got most of the childrens little bits in need to get there big presents when we get paid..

Take care all

Thanks 2+1, although I think DS is maybe a month older than some other LOs (born end June) and when I say he can say those words- they aren't pronounced properly- its just I understand them lol. for example, milk is "ulk" and cuddle is "dul".

I am amazed at how you cope with 3 on your own- i find it hard when DH is away overnight with just 2. So i'm sure you'd adapt to 4 if you did decide to try. Your DD is old enough to look after herself a bit I guess?

Jennster · 12/11/2008 21:05

Hello folks

I've got a dining room table climbing, bed diver here. He doesn't say much either. Baaaaaar is banana, bow is milk/drink? and the only clear word other than mamma and dadda is MORE.

I'm 14 weeks now and know at least we won't be moving before christmas. That means I can put decorations up in just over a fortnight. wouldn't mind but the vendor was the one who wanted the quick sale.

madmarriedNika · 12/11/2008 21:31

meep- so sorry you had to go through the amnio- the waiting must have been awful- but so pleased you had good news & all's going well (& very impressed with you resisting opening the envelope!). Hope minimeep starts to sleep better soon.

Jennster-great news about not having to move too quickly before christmas, as sure that would be pretty stressful.

Mairi is beginning to talk quite a bit too (like you pulapula she's an end of June baby)- and this is a lot earlier than DS did! So far she says woof woof (dog), cat, fish, milk, water, please, downstairs, pop pop (for farts!!), poo poo (when she's doing/done one), Sam (DS's name), Dada & Mummy- and tries a lot more that I'm yet to understand! It's very cute- she really loves talking & singing!
Had a bit of a scare with a patch in her lung but thankfully it's improved a lot now and her doctors think they might have cracked why she's such a bad sleeper- she has a form of eczema on her faces & ears (looks very different to what I expect to be eczema- DS has it quite badly so thought I'd know- hers is like lots of little bumps on her cheeks) and this seems to be very itchy at night. So we have some hydrocortisone cream, moisturisers and anti-histamine- and now she has slept through 2 nights!! First time in over 6 months!!

Right, meant to be PhD-ing again so back to it.
Love to you all- 2+1 hope all the planning for xmas will make the next few weeks fly by xxx

Jennster · 12/11/2008 21:38

So ds is a little slow at talking, dd (who will be 3 in January) sat at the dining room table and recited most of the first verse of Subterranean Homesick Blues the other day

meep · 13/11/2008 10:01

Nika - hooray for Mairi sleeping through - that must be so lovely for you (and her). Sorry you had a scare though.

Pula - our high risk was 1 in 75. My first reaction was wanting to get a test done immediately and we even went in all set for a CVS test. But that carries a higher risk of miscarriage so we decided to wait for the amnio, It is such a hard decision to make and there were a lot of tears and I can honestly say that it is one of the most stressful things I have been through. But having had the test done and everything being okay I feel so much more relaxed and can get on with enjoying being pregnant instead of having this awful worry hanging over me. So it was the right choice for us.

I am loving hearing all the wee words that are coming out from all the lo's. Minmeep says "duck duck", "all gone" and "ta tu" which I think means "is that you" which is what we say when we see a photo of her or see her in the mirror - so she points at herself and says "ta tu"!

No climbing here (unless we encourage her to crawl upstairs) - but the walking is coming along - hooray!

Is anyone else having to deal with tantrums? Minimeep turns her back to me and growls - then throws herself face down on the floor and kicks her feet up and down. It is really hard not to laugh - and the only way I can get her to stop is to totally distract her with something else. And I keep getting told that it will only get worse - sigh!

pulapula · 13/11/2008 14:24

Meep- yes tantrums here. He shouts, squeals, strops etc if he doesn't get what he wants. We call them paddies and do tend to laugh and say "no paddies please ben". And yes it gets worse! At least with DD we get some timeout as we have a "naughty step".

meep · 13/11/2008 17:27

just had our first supermarket tantrum - throwing herself around in the trolley seat and dropping everything onto the floor with anger.

but we got through it even if I did have to sing songs and look like an eejit !

pulapula · 16/11/2008 18:22

Hi all,

Just to let you know i've put some scan photos of the new LO on my profile

Meep, my nuchal risk came out at around 1 in 2000 so I am very relieved- didn't realise that just for being 36 my risk of DS baby is 1 in 250.

meep · 16/11/2008 19:14

Pula - I am so pleased that you got a low risk result - I wouldn't wish what we went through on any one. I think my age came into it quite a lot (am 37) - but was still high risk even with being ancient ! Love the scan pictures. I could hardly look at ours from our 12 week scan because I would just cry - now I look at them all the time!

JumpingJellyfish · 16/11/2008 20:45

Just to warn you all I have name changed! madmarriedNika is now JumpingJellyfish (yes, that phrase from the wonderful Captain Pugwash, which my Mum, bless her, found on DVD and my children are addicted to!! ). DS goes around saying it all the time and I find it sort of appropriate being a marine biology freak (and monitoring the types of jellies washed up on our local beach faily often!).

pulapula- that's great news re your scan, what a relief. Beautiful photos too. Made me v broody but not going to get worked up about TTC (she says, trying to convince herself!!). Meep, it sounds like you really went through hell. The uncertainty is a killer.

On a roll with the thesis so should keep going but I'm finding it hard as seeing less of the DCs (DH, bless him, has just used 2 weeks of his annual leave to help mind the kids so I could work).

Hope all your LOs are well- what are you all thinking of getting them for christmas?!

JumpingJellyfish · 16/11/2008 20:50

PS. meant to add Mairi is also having tantrums (and I too find it hard not to laugh at her!)- although they aren't as bad as a month ago because I completely ignore her when she throws a flinging-herself-&-banging-head-on-floor episode which seems to work... But she is being quite mean to DS, frequently hitting him if he comes to close to her just in case he might be after a toy from her (which is of course sometimes the case), and she hits us in frustration too sometimes. So we operate a put down or remove from situation and ignore for a few mins with lots of explaining why she shouldn't hit and I'm hoping this will work... DS never really was violent to anyone else at this age but then again at the time he didn't have a sibling to squabbleplay with.

catstar · 18/11/2008 11:35

Oooh- with you all on the tantrums. I have to admit to laughing for the first few , but am now trying to deal with appropriately. We went through a stage (usually while cleaning teeth) where Little O would grab my hair, lips, nose, eyes - anything she could, and pul, scratch, twist etc. I started doing the put down/remove from situation (missed a few morning trains because of it) and she's much better now. For her general tantrums, distraction works quite well at the moment, although I suspect she will get wise soon.

Love the new name, JumpingJellyfish - and very fitting! Can't believe you can get Captain Pugwash on DVD now!

Meep - sorry you had such a worrying time following your nuchal and glad you can now enjoy the rest of the pregnancy, well, despite all the other worries that come with being pregnant! Pulapula - love your pictures and glad your scan went well .

I know she's my PFB and all that, but I'm just finding everything that Little O does fascinating. I'd love to know what goes on inside her little head. They are such sponges, retaining so much information. I love it when she gets my mobile and chatters away, doing false little laughs and then says "bye".

JumpingJellyfish - I really don't know if we'll get anything much for Little O this Christmas. She'll get sooo much from the rest of the family and we'll be giving her a little brother in February, and I do buy her bits and bobs when I see them (bought her Mrs Pontipine at the weekend . One thing I might get is a doll so that she can have her own baby to look after when her brother is born. To be honest, she'd be happy with some twinkling lights to point at and say "pretty" to!

Anyway, better get back to work as stil got a way to go til maternity leave - can't start winding down yet ....

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their little ones!
