Here's a new thread especially for Kate79.

(she couldn't access the old one).

brambles · 16/02/2005 20:39

i think he is just lazy like his dad lol he shuffle bums and is so strong on his legs

Casmie · 16/02/2005 20:43

brambles - of course you can! Come on in, have a cuppa...

Your health visitor is talking complete crap. From memory I think ds1 was 10/11mths before he crawled... (and believe me, having ds2 crawling at the moment - it was easier when he was stationary!!) 9 months is only the "average" anyway - which means some babies will do it earlier and some much later. Some babies never even crawl at all, just get up and walk one day. Please don't let your silly HV worry you - they drive me nuts with all the hoops you have to jump through.

cat: yay for chamomilla! Yes, ds2 is addicted as well ... never quite sure if they actually do anything or whether it's just the shock of powder in the mouth that stops them crying ;) They certainly seemed to help his colic and now teething. Everyone seems much happier today so it would seem we are all on the mend. Think I'll hermetically seal the house so we can't get any more bugs for at least a week

prufrock: lovely house! looking forward to hearing all about it - hope you get it, looks fantastic.

brambles · 16/02/2005 20:47

you all know each other i hate being a newbie you will have to fill me in where abouts are you all from how much little ones
i am in west sussex have 2 boys one of as you know 9 months and the other is 3 yrs

Casmie · 16/02/2005 20:51

it's because we all talk too much

I'm in Worcester, have two dses (both may babies!) - eldest is 3, youngest is 9 months (obviously!) If you're feeling nosey and it's a slow evening, probably worth reading through all the old May Baby threads!

brambles · 16/02/2005 20:52

expensive month for you then?

Casmie · 16/02/2005 20:53

God yes... dh's birthday is in May, too...

brambles · 16/02/2005 20:56

and your 3 yrs old will start to know exactly what he wants for their birthday i know mine does

Bozza · 16/02/2005 21:14

Brambles - you will soon get to know our ramblings. I have DS who is 4 on Sunday (wants a spiderman cake to take to nursery and a Shrek cake for his birthday party) and DD (who will be getting a perfectly good chocolate hedgehog made by Mummy come May). We are in Yorkshire and I work 3 days a week (when I do most of my posting!).

BTW DD has got 3 teeth in the last week. And another I'm sure will be through in a day or two which will give a total of 6.

Casmie glad to hear things are going well with you. ATM we don't have half term - just that nursery costs more because the Govt don't chip in.

Oh and Brambles think your HV is a bit keen. DS didn't crawl or shuffle. Furniture walked at 10 months and walked independently at 12 months. DD (9 months yesterday) is trying to pull herself up and loves to be stood but is not crawling or shuffling.

Hi Brambles - I'm new too - my ds is 9mo and won't even sit up by himself let alone crawl - my hv thought it all perfectly normal. He's pukey, snotty and opinionated - but I love him to bits...Let me know when yours crawls - we'll have a race!! I'm in a good mood as I'm tiddly and my ds slept through all night last night so I'm celebrating!

brambles · 16/02/2005 21:23

lol that was a funny post
i dont think my hv has had children

SusiS · 17/02/2005 08:00

welcome brambels
wouldn't worry about your lo not crawling!! they all have their own time to get to it. and seriously some don't even crawl at all!!!
i haven't seen my hv in months
seems like i didn't miss much!

anyways, i am susi, live in berkshire and have one ds lucas who is 9months (dob 7th may) and i am pregnant again 7+2 (october baby)

and tbh ds does crawl; he started recently and i don't understand why i ever wanted him to crawl in the first place! now all i can think is "arrgghhh can't you sit still for 5 min!!"

brambles · 17/02/2005 08:09

we are seeing the child developer tomorrow just at of interest ill let you know how we get on.

Bozza · 17/02/2005 08:54

Would be interested in what they do say Brambles - probably something along the lines of "another HV wasting my time" but you never know you might get some fascinating insights into baby development. I really do love watching babies (especially my own, but all babies) develop.

Susi how are you feeling?

OP posts:
SusiS · 17/02/2005 09:22

so true bozza! i too watch ds lots and keep thinking "wow, he learnt something new! he is getting so much better at this! i wonder how he is going to solve that!" - amazing!

how am i feeling? well, not too bad today actually! still this sick feeling in the morning though; luckily only the feeling - but enough to make me go off food - takes me till the afternoon to acutally eat something! - lost 2 kg the last week

and sooooooooooooooooooo tired! i completly forgot about that; and i quickly get out of breathe recently - very strange!

but besided all of that - i am great

SusiS · 17/02/2005 09:24

chocolate hedgehog!!! yummmmmmy

can i tell you my birthday

Bozza · 17/02/2005 09:30

Ooh yes the tiredness is really difficult second time round Susi. I found it horrendous during the first trimester. I really did nothing besides work (or sit in my seat at work), look after DS and sleep.

And the hedgehog is yummy - much nicer than the Asda cakes with the icing on that sends DS hyper. Its basically a chocolate cake with lots of flakes stuck on the top and a couple of choc button eyes. Did one for DS's first.

egypt · 17/02/2005 10:37

is it your bday by any chance susi?

hi brambles, i live in leics, have dd who is 9 months on 28th. not much else to report, except dh is in bed ill. and i am still feeling sick................

SusiS · 17/02/2005 10:39

wow bozza; does it get worse with every pregnancy?? can't recall being THAT tired with lucas!

ehm egypt, depends!! am i getting a chocolate hedgehog if it was?????

ps: might even share so you feel a bit better!

Bozza · 17/02/2005 11:19

Susi it doesn't get worse - its just the same apart from that you have a little person to deal with as well. You start off from a tireder base point IYSWIM.

OP posts:
SusiS · 17/02/2005 11:52

ohhhhh makes perfect sense to me!!!!

spots · 17/02/2005 13:33

Hi all, welcome Brambles. GG congrats on the sleeping through. Bozza, ooh I remember chocolate hedgehog cakes. Best served on a piece of kitchen roll with the icing all slipping off and the chocolate buttons all skew-wiff. yummm.

I have wraparound childcare situation! DD got looked after this morning by Rachel down the road; tomorrow at the c/minders for 5 hours, then on Sat dh will take her. This all because I have a job on. But not so long ago I was saying I didn't want anyone else to look after her yet! Funny how this has developed. I actually feel it's too much childcare and would rather have her myself, but the work needs to be done. Hope she doesn' t get a case of terminal confusion. She just came home and fell straight to sleep.

Loved your foil story Egypt*. We have seen DD with dried mango stuck to the roof of her mouth. V. funny for sadistic parents - it rehydrated with all her sucking and when we removed it it was like unpeeling a cartoon daschund from behind a lamppost - it just went on and on. poor girl.

*well I know it was a worry at the time but eagle eyed you!

kbaby · 17/02/2005 21:01

Hi,
Not much happening here. DD can now clap her hands and is finally saying mama after saying dad for ages. Shes starting to recognise things also if I say 'wheres the cat' she looks around for him and if she spots him says 'at, at' Shes been waving her hands for a while now but does it at everything including a door, mirror and when you come into a room. Shes not standing yet, she attempts to pull herself up but cant get the hang of it and shes still only got 2 teeth.
Had her weighed this week and she's 18lb 6oz which is 50th centile. I couldnt work out why clothes are so big on her so I looked at the weight of the clothese against the chart and they are based on a baby at the 91st centile. There I was panicking that she wasnt growing when all the time its the clothes manufactures who are doing clothese too big.
Hello to brambles - My dd was born 27th may and we live in cardiff.

Judd · 17/02/2005 22:25

Susi - when I was very very pregnant with DS, I used to play anything with DD which involved me lying down! Our favourite game was me lying on her (double) bed with a stack of soft toys, her crouching at the bottom of the bed, popping her head up, and me throwing a soft toy at her
We played it for hours....and she doesn't seem to show any ill effects! Oh yes, and she was 2.5 at the time, perhaps not recommended for Lucas yet!
Am hoping DS is a lot better, DH is away tonight. He has stopped wheezing and his cough is a lot less pronounced. For the last 2 nights I've also not given him any milk before bedtime which has made him 100 times less phlegmy. I reckon he's getting about 13oz of milk and I've been stoking him up with extra cheese and yoghurts to up his dairy intake. Might brave the HV next week and see what her take on this is. Does this seem massively inadequate?
Bozza - hope your DS has a lovely birthday!

Judd · 17/02/2005 22:26

I mean does the milk intake seem massively inadequate, rather than do I, in going to see a HV, seem massively inadequate

SusiS · 18/02/2005 06:54

judd

sounds like a good plan to me - the toy game that is! just wondering how to fit in his cot??!!??

13oz sounds good to me. lucas has 2x7oz and hardly ever finishes his evening bottle - so about 12-13oz with the odd milk/cheese/joghurt

fingers crossed for the hv - may she not jump at you!
