I hope I manage to do this right...I'll kick everything off with a roll call if it does.

J2O · 02/07/2008 23:36

thanks FT, I am in so much indecision, part of me thinks, sod it, just do it, and the other part thinks there are so many reasons not to have it done yet, the surgeon did say if i fall pg again, then they will need redoing and if you are right about the 12 month thing, then i can use that when the woman rings tommorrow, as i feel she is pressuring me a little. and you are so not old! you looked great on the meet up xx

Dalrymps · 03/07/2008 07:57

Hey everyone, sorry, got to dash, driving to birmingham for my crazy weekend. Just wanted to say J20 - Everything floria said, don't let them pressure you, it's a big decision! I think you are gorgeous by the way, what with the 12 month thing i'd definately wait before doing anything hasty, after all they might fill out a bit (not that I think they need to) and then you could spend the money on something else like a holiday or a whole new wadrobe .
Anyway have a great weekend all, 'see' you when I get back, if I survive!!!

FloriaTosca · 03/07/2008 08:16

Have a fabulous time Dal!!! Drive carefully

still here, just. Thanks floria, will do

FloriaTosca · 03/07/2008 08:42

J20; the woman sounds like a double glazing salesman "special price if you sign on the dotted line now"
Thanks for saying I dont look too old..you are now on my christmas card list for that...wish I didnt feel every year it
His lordship is still sleeping badly and demanding at least 3 feeds during the night; 11.30,2.15,4.35 and awake 6.30 last night,...despite only having one nap all day yesterday....it wasnt so bad when he was going straight back to sleep after feeding, but he now sometimes takes over 45 mins to go back down again and the sleep document isnt working this time...I dont know how he does it, he is charging round all day..too busy to eat well..and then doesnt sleep!!!! aaarrggghhhhh!
it is a phase it will pass
it is a phase it will pass

J20 - I have to agree with FT ... she speaks sense!

FT - how old are you? Can't remember!

Dal - great news about little D! Can I have your permission to come and stuff those bl00dy charts up your hv's nose? Sideways?

Pleeeeeease?

Have discovered preloved - it's like the classifieds in your newspaper! Have just sold my calin bleu sling on it, and best of all it's free!

Have also lost some more weight - 1 1/2lbs this week (surely it's fluke - I ate half a loaf of bara brith on Saturday! ) ... have now lost 25 1/2 lbs ! Only 2 1/2lbs now until I call an interim target - there's absolutely no point trying to go much lower whilst I've got these enormous bazookas attached to my chest!

Looking forward to being able to buy size 12 trousers for work! (Still a size 18 on top, but hey! )

Right, am going to wake up M - she's napping - much longer and she won't go to bed tonight, and I've got choir!

love and hugs to everybody I haven't mentioned!

FloriaTosca · 04/07/2008 09:18

crotchet WELL DONE on the weight loss!!!!{envy] and you are doing it so sensibly giving yourself an interim target, getting used to being that small again and waiting until you are no longer bfing before losing any more (at least the extra is in the right place)I wish I had your focus and determination...I've done it before but can't seem to get into the right frame of mind to do it again even though I loathe being back in size 20 trousers again
As to my age ..well sadly nothing can change that, (whispers...44).

...off for my shower at last now sir has stopped marching up and down the living room with his push along lion and finally decided to have a nap!

Ben has got his first tooth just noticed this morning that it has finally broken the surface. No real change in himself either, seems to have come through quite painlessly Independence Day aswell

crochetdiva · 04/07/2008 19:00

FT - you'll arrive at the point where you want to do it sooner or later - I just got there sooner! I've been going to SW since January, so have been fairly slow and steady - mind you, I know from past experience that I'm more likely to keep the weight off if I do the slow and steady thing ...

Oh, and on the age thing, I thought you said you were old?

LLL - great news on Ben's tooth - M now has 3 (as of this morning) - I had the night from hell with her last night, and found out why this morning

Dal - hope you have a great weekend!

J20 - what did you decide to do? You know we love you just the way you are, don't you?

Going to enjoy a Chinese and some wine tonight!

love and higs to everybody I haven;t mentioned!

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 04/07/2008 21:22

Crochet - glad your boob is back to normal . Well done to Rhydian on his karate grade. And well done with the continuing weight loss.

Dal - wonderful news about Dylan. You must be so relieved that the experts have said he's doing fine. Hopefully your hv will shut up now.

Stefka - that your gp told your hv anything - is that allowed??

Mine - glad soft play went well. Not been to Tumble Tots but they all call them something different so might have been to similar thing.

J2O - lol at the description of horror film crawling. Anya does that too - and she can go at a really good speed now. A boob job is a big deal (no pun intended!) - if you want to talk to the surgeon again then you should definitely do it. Can't believe they're using pressure-selling techniques for something like that (ie sign now or the deal expires) - you're not buying a used car for heaven sakes - this is an operation. I'd look at somewhere else to be honest - I think I'd get 3 or 4 opinions from different surgeons. What did you decide in the end?

FT - sorry Alex is still keeping you up - sounds like he's getting worse!

LLL - hurrah for first tooth. that it came through with no problems at all though!

Anya is very unsettled at the moment. As I type she is thrashing hell out of a toy in her cot - she refuses to go to sleep and she's only just gone in her cot without crying. She's waking in the night, she's off her food and she's become surgically attached to her dummy. I'm sure she's teething (again?!) - hopefully we'll get some teeth this time.

Finally got round to taking Anya swimming this week - she absolutely loved it! She grinned as soon as I put her feet in and didn't stop grinning for about 20 mins. She was happy swimming about and watching the other babies and there's about 5 mins of nursery rhymes. The only thing I didn't do was dunk her under - thought I'd wait a few weeks first. (And FT, she looks so cute in her swimming costume!) The changing afterwards was a whole different ballgame mind you, as expected she screamed the place down from the second I put her down in the changing room and didn't stop until we'd reached the car.

Well have a good weekend everybody
xx

LisaLessLumpy · 05/07/2008 08:43

WWaJC - glad Anya loved swimming, Ben really enjoyed it on holiday too

J20 - get some more opinions on other surgeons, this one doesn't sound right if they are pressuring you. Also think long and hard before getting it done, there is no going back once you have had it done, I would hate anything to go wrong

Crochet - well done on the weight loss. I am 4lb off losing two stone since Jan and its getting very tough now, I have stayed the same for the past 6 weeks

Hello to everyone else, can't type anymore, think I have done my pain quota for the day ... this is why

Well my shoulder was getting better, I saw the physio and he reckoned it was an inflamed tendon that was getting pinched in the bone when moving my arm. I went out last night for some me time, shopping in the sales.... and managed to put my recovery back a week as I have made it worse again whilst trying on a top and getting a bit stuck Last night was agony, marginally better this morning, had to sleep sitting up. Thought I was going to have to go to A&E this morning as the pain was so bad every time I moved. Luckily I suppose its the weekend so DH is going to have to do everything for me whilst I try and get some movement back over the next two days. God knows how I would have coped with the kids otherwse... well I just wouldn't, simple as that I did get some fab shoes though

J2O · 05/07/2008 09:40

hi guys, just a quickie, cos i'm getting ready for my bro's wedding. have decided against the boob job for now, going to use the money for a hol instead i think. like you say LLL, theres no going back, and if i end up having another baby, i'd have to get them done again. anyway better run, love to you all xxxx

crochetdiva · 05/07/2008 10:43

WWaJC - Glad to hear Anya enjoyed swimming - Mairwen did the ysgrechian thing too when we got out the first couple of times - the first time, she screamed so much she made herself sick! I now get her out before she's ready to get out! We were going to go swimming with Rhydian and dh this morning, but she decided to have a long nap (now nearly 2 hours )

J20 - I'm glad you decided against the boob job in the end - was amazed at the thought of the high pressure sell

LLL - am sending you gentle hugs for your shoulder - I hope it gets better soon!

Have a good weekend all - dh was supposed to be playing cricket, but it's been called off - am quite pleased, as it means we can do something family - not sure what though! Rhydian is excited, and has been bouncing around the house at the prospect of watching Doctor Who tonight!

crochetdiva · 05/07/2008 10:44

Oh, and J20 - have a lovely time at the wedding!

alicet · 05/07/2008 19:02

Just adding a quick hello before I try and catch up!!!

Real life somewhat inconveniently getting in the way of my MN time at the mo but doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you all! I'm actually on call at the mo although sitting at home... I'll have to go back in in an hour or so so thought I'd just say hi before trying to catch up. I'll def try to get back on a bit more next week!

Hope you're all well - if I get a chance I'll respond to as many of you as I can personally once I've read through your news...

Not much going on here. Adam still trying hard to crawl but getting frustrated going backwards! And we got the planning approval for the extension we want to build! Yippee! Anyway, off to catch up....

alicet · 05/07/2008 19:27

OK so think I have caught up now although please forgive me if I forgot anything!

Inzi at yet another laptop biting the dust! Hope to see you soon...

Stefka sorry to hear you've been struggling honey. Haven't read your other thread so only know whats been said on here but totally agree with what everyone else has said. Hope things are getting better...

Crochet great news the milk duct has unblocked itself!

LLL sorry to hear about the shoulder although I am sure the fab shoes go some way towards making up for it!

J2O I too am totally at the pressure selling for a boob job! Have to say if you decide to get it done in the future I would avoid them at all costs. So so out of order to behave like that. You can bet if you had any problems after they would totally wash their hands of you too. Agree with others who say you certainly don't look like there is anything wrong with your boobs but I know that things can be different without a bra and if it's something you feel strongly enough you should look into it - just not with these cowboys! Think best to wait as you've decided though as no point spending all that money and having to do it again in a couple of years.

Can't remember who asked about crawling and teeth but Adam is still toothless too and only going backwards when he tries to crawl! Sam was about this age when he finally got the hang of it and also when he cut his first tooth too...

Dal great news that Dylan is fine. No surprises but must be a massive relief anyway...

OK dh has finished reading Sam his bedtime stories so I am off now to have a bit of time with him... Back soon I hope!

muppetgirl · 06/07/2008 11:05

HI all. I started a post a couple of days ago but didn't get round to finishing it

Crochet -glad your boob is on the mend! Glad the cricket was called off -we have the same with tennis taking over at the moment.

J20 - can understand why you want a boob job, mine are nestling just above my waist whereas they used to be pert and on my chest! I agree with the others re the pressure selling.

Alice - Good news on the extension front.

Floria - you really don't look 44 in your facebook photo!

WWAJC - Glad Anya enjoyed the swimming, Hen absolutely loves it too!

Well, MIL has got bored again and has managed to start another row (is it 6 months since the last one? Oh yes! Funny that I had just said to DH things were quiet on the MIL front!!!) I didn?t ring her for 2 weeks (I really am crap at ringing people not because I don't care, it's because I'm crap! My friends/family know this and are a little like me anyway so that's fine) so she thinks I'm not speaking to her and has been leaving tearful messages on the answer phone asking what have they done that's upset us so much? Why won?t we speak to them? (Said in a very 'oh, woe is me' type of voice)

The fact is I don?t sit around and nurse the phone quite like she does. She phones her daughters every/every other day. I'm not like that. She goes to the allotment and John Lewis with daily detours to Sainsbury's and that is it so I find it really hard to chat with someone who does very little apart form ask 'when are you coming up -we've not seen the boys in ages. I can't do emotional blackmail. My mother used to ring up and leave these types of messages, yes she was drunk, but this is very reminiscent of that and I have to say my blood runs clod and the last thing I want to do is ring her.

They were away in Austria and I emailed them 3 times to send them a copy of Ollie's report, photos of sports day and tell them he was ill. I then get a terse email via dh's sister from FIL saying he doesn't have my email....When I ell him he does I sent him 3 emails -did he not get them? He said, oh yes perhaps I have then. They've not responded re Ollie being ill so I'm cross at them.

And as dh said if she leaves weepy messages you don?t then want to ring as then it looks like you?re ringing because she asked you to!!!!!!

Deep breaths, deep breaths.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 06/07/2008 11:06

LLL - poor you with your shoulder. Hope it's better soon. Am sure the shoes were worth it though .

J2O - glad you didn't let them pressure you on the boob job. Hope the wedding went really well.

Alice - congrats on the planning permission.

Well Anya slept through last night - finally, after over a week of her waking! (Sorry, not gloating honestly). Hopefully she's over this difficult phase, although she was a nightmare yesterday evening before bed - and STILL no teeth yet! We've been practising sitting when she's in the mood and she's really quite good at it now . She's also commando crawling really fast now - she's like a baby assassin - all she needs is her sniper rifle .

muppetgirl · 06/07/2008 11:17

LLL- sorry to hear of the pain you're in. Good on you for still getting those shoes

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 06/07/2008 11:17

Muppet - xposted. Not sure what the answer is about your mil. The only advice I can offer is to ignore her as best you can - I would let dh ring her up for a chat - no reason why you are obligated to do it surely? Can understand why dh doesn't want to either though - presumeably she spends half the phone conversation moaning about stuff, but can't see that that makes it less likely that anybody phones her!? And of course they're getting your emails so I would stick to that and just let her get on with being vile. Big hugs, don't let it get you down .

alicet · 06/07/2008 13:06

WWAJC pmsl at the idea of Anya commando crawling with a sniper rifle!!! Can just picture it! Great that she slept last night...

Muppet not surprised you're getting fucked off with your mil. Mine does this weepy emotional blackmail thing too although it's directed at dh not me. He tries to call once a week but sometimes life gets in the way. Then he gets texts saying stuff like 'why don't you care about me?' and 'I'm really missing you'. Well if thats the case just pick up the bloody phone and call then - why does he have to call you all the time and it not be the other way round! Most of the time she's fine though and we've realised we can nip it in the bud by making the effort before we get to that point and don't have the relationship you have with yours either. With WWAJC though that can't your dh call instead? She is his mum afterall!

Hello everyone else! Just hanging about at work waiting on a few results hence time to post here... Hope you're all well x

FloriaTosca · 06/07/2008 23:01

LLL;sorry for your shoulder, hope you get it back in order quickly...well done on the shoes though and supremely well done on the weight loss.

Muppet;you're on my christmas card list too...but.. truth be told that photo is a bit out of date...like..er..six years out of date.....well I can't have any old flames looking me up and thanking their lucky stars they missed out on the bulging, greying, baggy eyed old bat that marriage and motherhood seems to have made of me. No better advice about the mil from me than you have already been given, but totally understand your with her.

WWAJC;your good night. LOL at commando Anya

Alice; great to see you back even if only briefly...(how dare rl get in the way of your mning) Wonderful news that you got your planning permission..congratulations.

Choc; Hope the move went smoothly and all is wondeful

Well we had the worst EVER night last night. Alex woke at 12.40 and then again at 1.50 but wouldnt settle back down and started rolling onto his front..in the Amby!!!! ... 4 times he did it! It was like he was trying to commit suicide! I was in floods of tears terrified he would do it again if I shut my eyes.... ended up getting out his travel cot and putting him in that..he finally went to sleep, on his tummy at 3.15! I got to sleep at 4 and he woke for good at 6! We have now put up his cot bed in our room and are trying him in that tonight...or I'm going to be a nervous wreck as well as being a zombie.
On the positive side he is now running 10-12 steps, usually in the direction of something dangerous (we have an 8x4 tiled hearth that is now adorned with scatter cushions!)demands our fingers to steady his football practise,(Mum has developed sciatica through his demands!) said "Daddy" for the first time on Thursday... though he hasnt repeated it since ...and has developed a wierd crawl trying to use his feet rather than his knees, I can see it developing into a Mowgli (Jungle Book)style, bum in air, 4 limbed march.....oh, and he now finds sneezes and hiccups the most hysterical jokes of all time.
Pray for us that the cot bed will give us a better nights sleep because trying to keep up with him is exhausting enough for the rested let alone the sleep deprived like me!

OP posts:
alicet · 07/07/2008 19:52

Floria honey so sorry to hear about your crap night! I have heard that often babies go through a phase of not sleeping around this age as they're so excited at all the new things they can do they are too excited to go to sleep! You seem to have produced a very active into everything little boy so maybe this will be him for a bit (hope not though!) but agree with your mantra of a few posts back 'it's just a phase and will pass!' You also do yourself down about how you look. So OK you don't look as good as you did 6 years ago but I'm sure none of us could claim that!

If it makes you feel better I had a rubbish night too. I was on call all weekend although I do get to go home when I'm not required so not as bad as it sounds. Sat not too bad - in from 8.15 till about 1, then home till about 3 and back in till 6, then home, then back in about 9-11pm. Sun in all day from 8.15 till about 9.15, went to bed at 11 only to get woken at 3am when I had to go back in to operate on someone who had a complication from a previous operation and was pretty sick. Home about 7.30! Thankfully dh was off work today as fil was staying as I think the thought of coping with both boys on 4 hours sleep (appreciating thats better than you Floria!) was not a good one! So dh and fil took the boys to a toddler group we go to and I caught up on some sleep so actually feel fine now!

The weekend was actually pretty good at continuing to improve my confidence and I'm actually quite pleased in a way that I was busy yesterday. Didn't think that when I had to drag myself out of bed at 3am but now I've had some sleep all good...

Anyway off to be sociable with fil and dh - hope you're all well and I'll try to be on a bit more this week! Have a night out with some people from work tomorrow so may not be then but will def be here on Wed night unless something unexpected happens! Dh is in London till about 9pm so should be here though.... Will look forward to catching up then! I'll give Choc a shout too to find out ehr news and fill you in! KNow the move went OK - last week she was at a conferance she was organising so has been really busy but hopefully settling in at her new place properly as we speak.... I know they were planning to put R in her own room too so will see how they have got on and if the dreaded sleep has improved any!

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 07/07/2008 21:37

Sympathies for the sleepless nights - especially FT. Poor you, things seem so awful in the early hours of the morning don't they? Just remember you are coping so incredibly well.

Well I don't know what I've let myself be dragged into tomorrow. DH got a phone call this morning from the manager at his gym - they've put a team together for a new tv quiz show but they were only told yesterday (I think) that the recording is tomorrow morning and a couple of people on the team couldn't make it, so could dh step in? DH didn't want to do it - doesn't want to make a fool of himself (though he wouldn't, he knows loads of useless info) - so he volunteered me. I did protest that I know bugger all but they don't care - they just want numbers to complete the team otherwise they would have to pull out. So muggins here is now taking part in a tv quiz show on 24 hours notice and with baby-brain. Fat lot of good I'm going to be. And yes we do have to answer individual questions, it's not just a team effort.

So we have to be at Granada Studios at 8:30am (!) and we have to have 6 outfits (!!!) just in case we get through to the next show(s) - they record several all on one day. Am starting to think this was a really bad idea. DH is also now regretting volunteering me as it only dawned on him later that he would have to look after Anya maybe all day.

Well, am quite prepared to make a complete idiot of myself. Will let you know how it goes. Possibly.

alicet · 07/07/2008 22:19

So what show is it for WWAJC? Will have to watch it! Can relate to you worrying about making a fool of yourself - my general knowledge is pure shite at the mo! Good luck x
