ps...what is the italian word for hot?

HellHathNoFury · 27/05/2008 19:49

Evening all.

Daisy - DS is staying with Nan, it's all she has talked about for 6 months.

I am really tired. I just made fajitas, have been in boring meetings all afternoon and now DS won't go to bed. Aint life grand.

Still, DH keeps trying to buy me jewellery (I don't want it!) and instead have asked for a breadmaker

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 19:53

lol at wanting a breadmaker rather than bling..........oh how having a baby domesticates

a weekend away without DCs

'tis my anniversary...DH is asleep and snoring on the sofa, and it looks like I'm cooking dinner.........again I hope he isn't expecting me to put out tonight

HellHathNoFury · 27/05/2008 20:00

Happy Anniversary!

(well..kinda, lol)

Actually... we are going away for 5 days
bad mother alert lol!

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 20:04

not bad mother at all...we all do what we have to to survive. I would love to get away for that long, but I don't think the PILs would be too impressed.

My sis went for a week long honeymoon sans her DS when he was 11 months old! He stayed at my mum and dad's and I chipped in too (pre my own DCs). she said she even managed to relax mid week, but was glad to be back.

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 20:18

fury...can you help out bumper over here

HellHathNoFury · 27/05/2008 20:32

hmm tbh I think there isn't a lot more I can add, also Bumper and I have had chats about photography before. Her DH is better than me (much, actually) which is a good start lol!!

I sell travel photos in stock agencies, and also a few prints here and there... nothing fancy. I would LIKE to get into portraits but you need a) Kit (b) talent, or training.

It's something I plan to do as a hobby when I have more space at home for a studio, practical photography magazine lists classifieds at the back where you can buy a starter studio kit with all the reflectors, lamps, backdrops etc. That's the main thing.

And then there is the marketing but sounds like bumper has that covered.

But it is hard, damn hard, to make a living from it. I make probably only £500-£800 per year (if that). But then I suck and it's only a hobby

Pumpkinhead · 27/05/2008 20:35

Hi ladies! Popping in to say a quick hello and happy birthday to any babies that have had their birthday. Things are ok with my LO. He's standing lots but not walking yet and has been a bit grunpy lately - not sure why? He also seems to have anger issues and spends alot of time grunting at me and going red in the face. I must be doing something wrong . I don't think its teething as he already has 8 teeth and I thought there was meant to be a bit of a break from that now? Hmmm?

Still finding it impossible to keep up with you lot and usually feel a little bit out of the gang as I don't post enough! But it has been nice tonight to have a quick scan of all your posts.

Right, off to eat some homemade chocolate mousse (thak you Nigella!) x

HellHathNoFury · 27/05/2008 20:40

Hi Pumpkinhead! Bye all!

I haven't been very well today, I have been a bit fainty. Just overheated on the tube I think. DH is frog marching me to bed. Night all!

Pumpkinhead · 27/05/2008 20:43

Night Fury. My mum has been feeling really faint for the last couple of days. Might be a bug. Lots of rest needed I think. Sweet dreams.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/05/2008 20:44

Night Fury. Hi Pumpkinhead!

Work was really dull today. Glad I've got the rest of the week off. Just wish I wasn't so tired.

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 20:44

hi pumpkinhead . we have been wondering where everyone has disappeared to.

When is your LOs birthday? and dont worry about only popping in occasionally...it's always nice to hear from you

Pumpkinhead · 27/05/2008 20:55

Hi Jammy and Daisy
My LO's birthday is 23 June. I haven't planned a birthday party yet. Would it be very bad to just have immediate family round for a BBQ do you think. Don't feel I've got the energy to arrange a big do.

Sorry to hear work was dull Jammy - hope you get a good rest over the next few days. Yeah right! ;)

Right really am going now. Wanna watch The Apprentice. Will try and catch up tomorrow as my DH has the rest of the week off - yippee!

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 21:03

We don't have that much immediate family locally, so we have invited our close friends who have LOs, and a few of our neighbours as they have helped us out and been very kind over the last year. Will probably be 17 adults and about 10 kids.......am I mad??????

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/05/2008 21:10

Maybe a little mad Daisy, but mostly very kind and thoughtful and lovely

I'm just asking a couple of friends who have LOs to come round for the afternoon for the jamlet's birthday. We'll let the LOs play and then have sandwiches and strawberries and icecream and cake and stuff. Nothing too adventurous.

Sputnik · 27/05/2008 21:11

Hi Pumpkinhead

I can't decide really what DD's problem is, but I think she has become more jealous recently, saying things like the baby should go and live with someone else, saying he's horrible. I think it's partly because he's now more mobile, so invading her space more, playing with her stuff etc.
Don't know if that in turn is making her more clingy. I just hope she can get over it as it's just becoming very wearing.

PS Daisy, hot is caldo. Wassup, you want to tel some Italian he's hot?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/05/2008 21:25

Aw, poor Little Miss Sputnik. Must be very frustrating. And poor Daisy's DS too. It's bad enough not putting the cat's nose out of joint while looking after the jamlet, let alone an older sibling!

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 27/05/2008 21:43

Hi all, thanks for the support on my thread.

DH and I have stopped arguing and are being really positive about going forward, hence the impetus into the photography business.

Pumpkinhead, nice to see by the way, we don't mind if you just pop in and out by the way, we'll talk to anyone - I mean, what I mean is we're not cliquey, not that you are "anyone" I hope you don't think we are cliquey .

Anyway, what I was going to say is DD has a bit of an anger problem, she shouts and screams a lot, especially when she wants something. It's hard to know how to deal with it.

So, I bought these for DD today, from some of her Christmas money, they are gorgeous! She looks so cute in them, just go to get her to keep them on! I paid less than that though from this expensive but gorgeous shop.

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 21:44

cheers sputnik...DS wanted to know. Why, I have no earthly idea. oh, I remember, he was eating pasta and he wanted to know how to say it was hot in the food's language...bless him

lackaDAISYcal · 27/05/2008 21:51

sputnik, can you get DH to deal with DS at the weekend and have some quality you and DD time? do something lovely and girly together?

I had good fun with my neice on Saturday, painting her toenails and putting lipgloss on her....not that DD will be in make-up at 4 but I know DN has her own make-up bag and that her mum paints her toes for her on occasion, and bless her she was soooo proud that she was wearing a bra. I was when she said that, but it was basically a very short vest, with a picture of Stephanie from Sportacus on the front.

Sputnik · 27/05/2008 21:52

That's actually very cute Daisy, he has a great imagination.
Bumper your DD is going to look so cool

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 27/05/2008 21:52

Sputnik you have my sympathy! We are in a similar situation atm. Dd is really playing up and keeps hurting Ds and really shouting and screaming at him when all he wants to do is play with her. Then I get pissed off and yell at both of them and they both end up crying and I end up wanting to take up smoking again! It's just so difficult to get the balance of attention right and still do all the other day to day things that need doing. I wonder how people have 2 toddlers and a tidy house, I certainly can't manage to keep on top of everything and it's driving me nuts!

On a better note dp's brand spanking new car arrives tomorrow morning, I am very excited! Also I shall be taking delivery of a brand spanking new silver cross 3D to test! I heart new stuff!

Hi pumpkinhead. Good to hear from you and glad you are well.

Sorry if I've missed anything, but I'm on my BlackBerry and it takes ages to load the thread properly!

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 27/05/2008 21:59

Especially free new stuff Holly!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 27/05/2008 22:00

Oh and my dd told me yesterday that she loves her grandma more than me and she wants to go and live with her .

Daisy I can't wait till my dd can do all the make up stuff. She has raided my make up bag a few times and painted her face with my hideously expensive eye liner! Now she has her own clear lip balm that she can put on when she likes. It makes her feel like a big girl!

Sputnik · 27/05/2008 22:03

Just reading yur thread Bumper. So glad you have stopped rowing and turned the situation to something positive.

On a very prosaic note, I have done product photography for websites I've designed, and used a couple of 500 watt lamps, they weren't expensive at all.
