Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissNorty · 28/05/2008 20:39

Hi Daisy, I'm around, but supposed to be working and in a crap mood ...had a really shit day....not helped by a panic attack during a meeting culminating in my lunch coming back up .....too much on my plate methinks!

Got a date for my op - Monday week...eeeekkk!

LittleMissNorty · 28/05/2008 20:42

can I ask how peeps are cleaning LOs teeth?

Is it just with toothpaste on your finger and them playing with the brush or is it toothpaste on the brush, all teeth brushed back and front, water rinse and spit out with no clamped shut gob, screaming or whinging in general? (Don't think my DD is that clever!)

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 20:43

Oh, norty ....take it easy lovely, it sounds like you need a holiday. Can you wind things up early this evening?

Good Luck with the op. will you be off work for long? and will DH be able to get organised before then?

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 20:46

I try and get DDs teeth done once a day. I'm using a smear of 1000ppm fluoride toothpaste on her brush, which she gets to chew on while I clean mine and then I have a go at them myself. I find it's easier to attacke her from behind as she sits on my knee. am not even entertaining cleaning them after her last bottle, but on the rare nights she has a bath I do them in the bath before her bottle as well.

LittleMissNorty · 28/05/2008 20:49

Hopefully off work for a week and we're organised .....(comes to something when the only break you get from the rat race is sick leave )....what's really doing me in I think is I'm off to Coventry next week for a conference and leaving DH and DD overnight...I know they will be fine....but will I be?

Sorry....self-indulgent ....sounds like you've had a shitty day as well Daisy....I can't drink cos of my anxiety, but by god I could do with a fag (I also gave up at 12 weeks pg)

Hi JBM ...is L asleep now? I've just had to sort out a lost dummy situation!

justbeme · 28/05/2008 20:53

Oh Norty - doesnt sound good! But hope the op will get things resolved.

Teeth - I try and clean twice a day (but before bedtime feed as she's often asleep). A tiny smudge on brush of baby toothpaste and then probably 5 seconds if Im lucky and then she'll grab brush. Then I rinse brush twice and let her suck on it twice to "clean" mouth!!.

foxythesnowfox · 28/05/2008 20:53

Norty. Did anything in particular bring it on? You know we are here if you need to cry/vent/rant. Come and off-load.

I hold LO up with her back to me with one hand so she can see in the mirror, and 'clean' them by putting the brush in her mouth with the other. I do it straight after bath time too. I always have done.

She is crying, which is very unlike her, but is absolutely knackered. She's not sleeping well, I think she's got a cold and a bit of teething too. Or she could just be a grumpy-arse.

Hi Daisy & JBM.

justbeme · 28/05/2008 20:54

Oh yes - she went to sleep within seconds tonight - very tired!!
She's been going about 10.5hrs since last week when DP got up to settle her - so much better than before.

LittleMissNorty · 28/05/2008 20:58

That's good JBM ...I'm blessed with a good sleeper...just been looking at your latest pics on FB - they're lovely

Thanks ladies for experiences on teeth cleaning...K just hates it...we'll get there

Foxy - nothing in particular started it.....just lots of things adding together....staying away...I may work during the day but staying away overnight is a completely different thing for me...also lots on at work....and here (1st birthday party at the weekend....)and the house looks like a shithole

Pumpkinhead · 28/05/2008 21:00

Just popping on to say hi and thanks for the warm welcome back

Sorry to hear about your day Norty - sounds like you need a bit of tlc. I let my LO brush his own teeth. Well I put some toothpaste on a brush and give it to him to chew on while he's in the bath! So not much brushing goes on but i figure its getting him used to the idea. I suppose I should start to actually brush them myself soon.

Hi Daisy

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 21:05

LMN, try not to be too hard on yourself. you are doing a fab job with an illness hanging over you and the worry of an operation. I'm sure most people won't even notice the state of the house...they will all be focussed on DD . And I'm sure it isn't as bad as you think anyway.

DD loves her toothbrush. Try just giving the brish with a bit of paste on it to chew on, rather than making it something that has to be done to her iyswim. she'll get used to it by the time she's six

Now put your feet up and have some chamomile tea and chill. Tell work you weren't well and sod what you have to do tonight...or are you on-line tutoring?

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 21:07

I've just caught up with susiecutiebananas thread from last night. The poor love

LittleMissNorty · 28/05/2008 21:08

...coming on here is always very therapeutic....what would I do without you all?

Hi Pumpkinhead, good to see you again

No on-line tutoring tonight, but boring admin that I have no time to do at work

Will certainly try the toothbrush thing in the bath....I've just been doing it with my fingers and her pissing about not co-operating...

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 21:09

It also helps to make out at first that the toothbrush is yours and is precious and she isn't allowed to have it.....a little reverse psychology works every time

Pumpkinhead · 28/05/2008 21:12

You're very cunning Daisy

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 21:14

thankfully I have two older sisters with four children between them, all older than DS.....they taught me all I know about child psychology

justbeme · 28/05/2008 21:15

Thanks Norty!
Hi everyone else (were you all lurking!!)

So... what are you thinking of getting your Lo's for their 1st birthday? I need some ideas. Nothing flash, but Im still stuck for ideas. Was going to get her a Vtech walker thing, but got one at the boot sale in a box for £4 at the weekend. (No I cant be that mean!!).

LittleMissNorty · 28/05/2008 21:20

We've got DD one of these and a couple of little toys...tbh I'm looking forward to her having some new toys, I'm fed up with listening to the same old stuff...

Pumpkinhead · 28/05/2008 21:25

I have also got my LO a baby walker with bricks in it. Was also gonna buy something cute for him to wear and maybe something else. But also not sure what?

justbeme · 28/05/2008 21:30

Yes, I was thinking maybe a swing, but was looking at a full size one for the garden (and then would need a baby seat).
Any other ideas???

Pumpkinhead · 28/05/2008 21:30

Right off for a foot tickle! Catch you later x

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/05/2008 21:30

Cunning indeed daisy! We've had a crapola day too. The rubbish weather always makes the dcs play up roll on summer (if it ever comes)!

Sorry you are feeling a bit shitty norty. No advice really, but am always around if you need to chat {{hun style hugs}}.

JBM, I am prob going to get ds one of these for his birthday. Dd chose him a couple of sets of the cars to give him as her present, so I think the garage would be appropriate! I feel a bit bad as we only have girly toys and baby toys and ds won't play with them or dd won't let him. We have one little car and the poor boy spends ages pushing it around and making car noises! For dd's first birthday we got her a sand and water table for the garden and this. She still plays with both of them now and we add on bits to the fairytale world every now and then. They do big houses and playsets which are perfect for birthday/christmas and little add ons which are great for special treats.

lackaDAISYcal · 28/05/2008 21:33

DH is liking the look of this but I'm not sure it isn't just a little bit too chavtastic.

We still have all DSs toys and don't really want to clutter up with too much more stuff....at least that can live in the garage.

jbm.....your DD won't know the difference. DDs fave toys at the moment are bits of anything that she can put in and out of a tupperware box.....think the technical term for it is a wnacky (?) box.

God, my boobs have exploded today. They actually went down in soze when I stopped BFing, but now at 17 weeks they have exploded and are really sore and tender. I'm bulging out of my bra this evening.

FrazzledFairyFay · 28/05/2008 21:36

Hello everyone.

Sorry for fed-up and poorly people

Holly, DS got one of the garage's for christmas - he loves it but DD does too so it doesn't really help with sibling harmony, unfortunately. Tbh though, it's the cars that came with it that he likes the best. I have no idea what to get him for his birthday. So far I've just bought him a Fisher Price 'game' where you put balls into a hoop and are rewarded with noise and lights - as he loves playing with balls. I thought I might see what else people bought him and then get him something else after his birthday - after all, it's the only year when he won't realise.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 28/05/2008 21:36

17 weeks are you that far along already?! Wow! That's nearly halfway!
