Correct me if I'm wrong here, but if the head stays occipitotransverse all the pushing in the world might not get the head unstuck. (I think I read that it goes into the pelvis OT, but should turn spontaneously.) Is that right? Doesn't it mean that the head would be pushing slightly sideways against the pelvis and the contractions might just keep pushing the head against the pelvis, instead of down through it?

The head has to turn spontaneously or be able to be reached with the ventouse, otherwise it can't progress? There's nothing the mother can do to change that, is there?

SOH - I know you have to come to terms with this in your own way. Perhaps if you could get someone, say a midwife or an antenatal teacher, with one of those pelvic models and a plastic baby to push through it, to show you how the baby can be stopped from descending if it doesn't manage to turn its head at the right time, it might help you to understand that there wasn't anything you could do about it, any more than a mother can do anything to prevent or manage a shoulder dystocia herself.

Lupins71 · 11/06/2008 18:15

SOH why dont you book an appt to speak to the consultant and get all your questions answered - it did me alot of good when deciding whether to try again after losing Morgan, and then Willow being prem, she went through everything and gave me a very truthful answer, if tats the only way to stop this ruining your life plans then book that appt girl. You are no way a failure - I do know how you feel - I often get cross with myself (well my body actually) for failing to let my son live and for failing to be a safe place for my other babies to be, but the way I look at it is that its what I do now that matters, hugs to you ((SOH))

I had a lovely day with the home ed lady and her dd she also had a 14 wk baby boy - very cute, pleased to say there was not an ounce of broody there at all. Have ended up sunburnt tho as I was sweating so much walking home, looked like a beetroot when i walked in the door.

DP will be staying with a friend in Reading, good plan for the KK's AM MMMMMM just thinking about that now

LGT whats the news????

MID ds doesnt really eat the same consistency as us yet - I do have to adapt it a bit, tho tnite he had beans and toast with tiny bitesized toasts and the beans left on to make toast soft - he loves bitesized philly sandwiches, and really soft pears, grapes sliced in half, peeled apples, mini cheddars, pickled onion monster munch, any pasta that we have chopped up small, whizzed up cauli cheese with mash, for breaky its usually dry cheerios or cookie crisp - think he got bored of weetabix and milk, and he still has 3 bottles a day 2 x 8oz and 1 x 6 oz, he does drink very well from dd's beakers and hes the last baby so i dont mind him having a bottle still

MKG · 11/06/2008 18:53

OK--now I went out and did some errands hoping to come back, eat lunch, and read all about LG&T's appointment.

So now I'm sat here with no news.

SOH I hope you're doing ok. Please come back and talk to us. If I were you I would march into that hospital and scream at the people that "helped" you. A letter doesn't quite convey your feelings the way beating the shit out of someone does.

cameroonmama · 11/06/2008 19:05

LG&T, quick put the kids to bed early and get back on here and tell us what she said

largeginandtonic · 11/06/2008 19:07

The midwife has been, i have no news. She didnt put a hand on my tummy (and i didnt ask her to) we are waiting till the scan which should come through quickly. The next week or so. Sorry to diasappoint my lovelies

She was lovely and remembered everything about Beau, she said i am the first one of her ladies to come back to her since she started. I saw about 10 weeks before i had Beau. I like her alot, even though she said i would have to talk to the consultant about a homebirth

Lups glad dh is ok and has a friend to stay with.

TYG you are spot on with the LOT, the contractions actually compound the issue as the baby gets forced in to a wedge position. It is a no way out usually.

Come on SOH come back

The kids are feral, Jacob bathed Beau Bless them.

OP posts:
cameroonmama · 11/06/2008 19:20

Darn, now we have to wait a whole other week.

At least Beau got a bath. We have had no power alllllll day so that means no water heater and no hot water. But the sun shone today so I can't complain. And I saw a mongoose probably the one that killed one of our chooks on Saturday night. We are now down to 3 from 5 Don't tell the chicken keepers they might be horrified.

MKG · 11/06/2008 19:20
MKG · 11/06/2008 19:24

LG&T do the kids know there's going to be another baby in the house yet. If Phin doesn't get a sister this time she'll have pitch a tent and live outside to escape from the outrageous amount of testosterone.

AprilMeadow · 11/06/2008 19:40

WHAT!!! we have to wait another week!!!

largeginandtonic · 11/06/2008 19:52

Oh the kids know, they are jumping up and down with glee. When the midwife took blood they were all there, ringside seats (well except dd who faints at the sight of blood) like little vultures. I half expected 1 of them to have a go I did get a few 'poor mommy's' though

Yes you have to wait. I dont want to know anyway. >

SOH just got in and saw your message. Am so so sorry you cant reconcile what is in your notes. I fully believe that you need to actually go to the hospital and go through this with the professionals involved. They wont care if you are a snivelling snot rag. For you to be able to move forward from this some sort of end has to be reached whether that is getting answers from the profs involved or even some sort of councelling for you and DH. Am sure there is actually some sort of charity that provides help in this instance. I think I have said this before and you may think I am bonkers but DP's uncle does hypnotherapy and deals with post traumatic stress. He has had some amazing results. I am going to see him about coping with my next labour. In the meantime do you want me to come and see you tom you know you are not that far from me I have pretty good shoulders to cry upon and am sure M and A could find a way to amuse themselves. FB if you would like crazy lady and child to visit you.

twelveyeargap · 11/06/2008 21:51

LG&T - Would you still like me to come and hold your hand? If so, text me once you know the date and time. x

I'm watching "Britain's Biggest Babies" whilst eating Toffee Crisp and drinking Coke from the can.

largeginandtonic · 11/06/2008 22:08

I watched it eating sweet and sour pork balls TYG and drinking a diet coke. First real food i have wanted in weeks.

Beau was of course huge at birth due to my junk food diet of KK donuts

I have neen FB SOH and she sounds good, well good with a heavy head and puffy eyes.

TYG i would feel so bad if you traveled all this way. You are so pregnant and i know how awful it is sitting i the car for any length of time with a bump. Of course i reserve the right to cry like a baby and phone you to hold my hand if i become terrified again. To be honest at the moment i am in denial non pluss on the whole thing. Thank you.

Noooooooooooooooooooo can't wait another week!!!!

SOH Can't add any more words of wisdom than already done, just that I hope you can resolve and close this chapter. It would be a crime to not add more tanks to that fleet.xx

I'm am "man" ya know, Well ard gerard me!!! I wasn't complaining or sad, just stating a fact, I will lock them in the cellar one by one.

JamInMyWellies · 11/06/2008 22:36

Feel sick eaten too much chinese and chocolate.

Gutted Lee won the apprentice Claire was robbed.

LG&T only a week to wait we are here to hold your hands. And I want t know where these midwifes are that visit you at home.

twelveyeargap · 11/06/2008 23:16

Seriously, I'm happy to come. I need to get some value out of the £1300 repair I just had to pay for on the Jag. My eyes are still watering...

Anyway, like I said, will prob go to Somerset before or after and can pick up some stuff for DH at the Paul Smith outlet.

elkiedee · 11/06/2008 23:42

SOH, so sorry to hear that reading the notes was such an upsetting experience. I hope all those other posts have helped to persuade you that you're in no way a failure, and while a decision to have more kids or not might be based on all kinds of things, I hope that if you want them you won't let that experience put you off.

MKG · 11/06/2008 23:53

Chinese and chocolate!

Jam you are pregnant!

twelveyeargap · 12/06/2008 00:14

Homebirth midwives visit you at home.

LG&T - it says something on my home birth checklist whatsit that if you have had more than 4 births, that you have to be referred to a consultant. Lord knows why, I mean, what are the chances of you making it to a delivery ward on your 7th anyway!

Ebay rocks. I just found a new sun hood and rain cover for the buggy I bought the other day, so no 5 week wait to get it from Mamas and Papas and saved some money as well. Huzzah.

Got a settlement offer from the loss adjuster. All very reasonable. Phew. They're having Jessops replace the camera equipment and offering a cheque for the rest, minus the excess. Sounds great. We don't need to replace everything anyway. DH even talking about not getting new laptops becuase he's "got his life back". It is true actually. No laptop means we use the desktop PC sparingly and don't ignore each other on the couch, whilst each using a laptop. We have been known talk on instant messenger whilst in the same room.
Unfortunately the police didn't get anywhere with the CCTV/ Oyster card thing. Transport for London wouldn't help them, because they only take a certain number of police requests each month and otherwise only help with violent crimes. But gutted, as it's really the only chance of catching the burglar, but I'm glad the police tried (in the end) and called me to explain why nothing would happen. Considering telling the local papers to see if I can get someone to make a fuss about it. Seems a shame that nobody could put a couple of hours in, checking some tapes. Oh well.

I'm a bit hyper. It must be the can of Coke...

largeginandtonic · 12/06/2008 08:16

They go on about the risk of PPH with babies after 4, i succumbed when i had Hugs and had Syntometrine for the 3rd stage. No choice with Beau as he was all Syntocinon in the end anyway. I did say i would have Syntometrine again if it made her feel better Not sure that is going to cut it really, she is nice and i know what is going on in her head. I just know it would be futile to try and get to St Marys (40 mins on a good time) I dont really see the point of going to the Birth Centre as they only really have what i could have at home.

Ta TYG for the standing offer. I am pretty sure it will be the end of next week, maybe begining of the one after that. If it is in to the following week DH will be home. Fingers crossed!

Thank god the insurance company have seen sense. A nice cheque is just what you need after the car!!! That is very bad. Ours needs a service soon, nooooooooo.

MrsJB we know you can do it, the cupboard has plenty of space How is it with him gone, i find when he is away it becomes sort of easier as you just get on with it and dont wait for him to pick up the slack and end up shouting because they have not seen what needs to be done!

Jam snap on the chinese, still not really back on to chocolate. Only had a glass of coke in the last 2 days. Hope i am going back to normal. Am 12 weeks today by midwife dates.

OP posts:
twelveyeargap · 12/06/2008 08:33

Lordy, I succumbed to Syntom-whatsit with S because it wasn't put forward as a choice. Then with A, after nearly an hour of squatting over a bucket, with my body screaming at me, I wondered why the hell I wasn't showered and lying in bed with my baby and said "Give me the drugs!"

Let me know when you know about the scan.

SOH - how are you today?

Madamejaffa · 12/06/2008 08:55

Good Morning, the sun is shining, it is Thursday not Monday, two trips done to school this morning, one with the children and one with H's swimming bag..... As I said, it's Thursday not Monday..

All fine without A, you are right lg&t, it is easier, you just get on with it and be organised!! Slept great too

TYG, thank lordy for the insurance offer, It always worries me that they'll find any little thing to try to get out of paying out. How you coping in the heat with bump? Isn't it time for a bump pic btw?

Oh and lastly.... I love my children....

Pinkjenny · 12/06/2008 10:07

Gutted Lee won the Apprentice. Claire was right when she said he didn't want to a hire an alpha female, Ruth Badger, anyone?

Anyhoo, LG&T, the lack of news is killing us. Please sort that scan out, lady and stop being so vague.

TYG - we definitely need a bump pic, your pg (and Sky's) has gone so fast. What is your actual due date?

MJ - glad to hear you love your children, everything seems much cheerier when the sun comes out, even trips to school with swimming bags.

Jam - hmmm, chinese and chocolate. At this rate I'll be the only non-pg person on this goddamn thread.

NO chance of having another unless dh bucks his ideas up. The man is worse than useless.

L woke up at midnight and started having a right screaming fit, not sure if its the teeth or a nightmare or wind or what really, it was a little bit disconcerting. She has gone to my mums with a sticky face covered in Calpol from me trying to get it down her mid-hysteria. But the good news is, she drank her cow's milk this morning.

JamInMyWellies · 12/06/2008 10:12

Oh I soo know what you mean about easier with DH/P not being at home. John had been at home all wk firstly with a non existent sinus and throat infection and now the trains are a bit up the spout so he is watching the telly working from home. I have not made it to tots this morning as he just seems to make me late.

Feel sick as a dog this morning must be having a boy was the same with Archie random days of sickness before 12wks and after much more vomming particularily at random smells, such as left over chinese. Bleugh.

Tis pishing down with rain here and I have to go into town got loads of things to do.

SOH hope you are feeling a but more positive this morning.
