I defo have no life can I have an extra large pretzel with sticky toffee sauce

cameroonmama · 10/06/2008 20:55

I am multitasking, entertaining 2 visitors from the UK (2 male friends of dh who are going backpacking in Ethiopia) and MNetting.

Actually when they are all together they just talk about boring stuff like how many hours it takes to get from Addis Abbaba to rat-infested-hut-in-freezing-cold-mountains-with-nothing-to-eat-but-spaghetti.

Madamejaffa · 10/06/2008 21:28

Good luck for tomorow lg&t, will be pmsl thinking of you as she suspects the hundreds in there.

Dh is going away tomorow for 3/4 days working he says anyway...... I may have no children by the end of his trip!

Where's my pretzle? I have NO life.

ShowOfHands · 10/06/2008 22:34

What's a pretzel?

PJ is going to smack my bottom I fear.

LG&T, you're coming?!?!?! Oh that's made my year. I will take such good care of you you tired preggo person you. Narrow boat is a must, B and M will love it, we'll tie 'em down.

We await the midwife's visit with baited breath.

Just watched a very scary film and dh is putting off going to bed I feel. He is a girl.

Notes tomorrow TonicWoman I think. Will fb for clarification.

Pebblemum · 10/06/2008 22:36

Evening everyone

Well Ive really gone and done it now. Went to the hairdressers planning on having just an inch off my hair to get it back into shape and came out with something a lot shorter and totally different to what I would normally have I saw a wig in the window and thought how nice it looked so decided to take a chance. Not 100% sure it was the right decision though. When I collected Ethan from school he just kept staring at me with a grin on his face until he finally cracked and said I looked funny Dh laughed as usual but my neighbours think it looks nice, although of course they may just be saying it to my face, I bet right this minute they are having a laugh about it lol. Oh well too late now

Had the day from hell, nothing went right for me all day so Im sat here with a large Vodka and Coke (minus the vodka of course but it doesnt hurt to pretend lol)Have realised I have a hundred and one things to do before I leave tomorrow and yet here I am on mumsnet Will just check train times and then i guess I should make a start or i will be running around like a headles chicken in the morning. Who would have thought going out for one evening would generate so much work, if dh was having the kids it wouldnt be half as much trouble but hey thats life

Dont think i will get on tomorrow so will wish you good luck now LG&T, I bet £1 its twins lol, both girls to keep Phin happy

elkiedee · 10/06/2008 23:48

MID have you looked into a childminder? I started looking at them when I realised how expensive nurseries are where I am. I feel very lucky because we just happen to have found one where D seems happy, and that helps me when I miss him during the day.

Good luck for tomorrow lg&t.

largeginandtonic · 11/06/2008 08:03

I dont need luck i need a fecking rainbow complete with pot of gold and a dancing leprachaun holding a bunch of four leaf clovers, wearing a horshoe on each foot.

She wont be able to tell me anything, she will feel that my fundus is high already and may try to listen in with the doppler. She may think she hears more than one heart beat in there but as she will only have one doppler it will be damn near impossible to tell for sure as the baby (denial) will be so tiny.

Pebble your hair sounds lovely! I am waiting for my pregnancy hair to kick in, it is still on rats tails from Beau. Have fun today!!!!

MrsJB 'man up' as we would say in the G&T household, tis only for a few nights. At least you can pour yourself a nice vino to take the pain away. Water just does not hit the spot.

SOH ring me i think my darling, we need to go over them properly and you will need to have a weep down the phone. I can talk to Mathilda while you compose yourself. We will chat about bananas, sweetcorn (he favourite) and of course pig noises are essential!

MMMMMM pretzels, any left, I was knee deep in an ironing pile last night

MID no advice just do what feels right, think you have to weigh up living on te edge financially with being able to leave little one, not an easy decision

DP has got another jog, In Reading!!!! he will be away from Sunday afternoons and get back friday evenings, its not ideal but we dont want to get in the position financially that we were in before - he will also go stir crazy sitting at home, it does mean I will only be able to do one night in the pub - I have asked mum to watch the kids and stay over one night so I can keep my hand in there and at least still get out and speak to other adults

Better go and get ready, ave to walk into Tavistock as the car is at the garage being fixed and we are meeting another home ed family at the park this morning - really feel like just going back to bed

Have a lovely day all

Is anyone elses little ones not walking, I am not worried that hes not as im sure it wont be long just curious really

madeindevon2 · 11/06/2008 09:12

hi all
good luck with the mw appointment today. cant wait to hear the magic number!
freddie is still ill...throat infection apparently. high temperature and very up and down. dosing up with the capol nurofen etc which he takes so well bless him. hes in bed again. only been up 2 hours....its really knocked him for 6. Of course hes done this on purpose......to make it harder for me to consider leaving him and going back to work.
im not keen on nanny coz it feels like replacement mummy to me.....maybe a bit irrational but nursery more like "school" in my head and nanny more like replacement mummy....daft maybe...

ShowOfHands · 11/06/2008 09:19

What time's the harbinger of doom midwife coming LG&T? I dreamt you had triplets last night on the deck of N's sailboat. You called them Saffron, Rebecca and Clary. A heavily pg TYG was there trying to teach A to swim in the sea and shouting at my dh for 'getting in the way'. Twas very odd.

We will need to see pictures of your hair please Pebble. AM's set the mark very high and looks lovely (but then doesn't she always?). I went to have my hair done on Saturday for a farce wedding I was going to and the hairdresser twittery little thing that she was asked if she could 'trim the ends'. She then cleverly distracted me with twittery little questions about 'product' and 'haircare routine' and before I knew it, she'd chopped half my fricking hair off. If I hadn't been half anaesthetised by the smell of coconut conditioner I might have told her off sternly. As it was, I resisted the urge to gather up my hair and take it home in a bag and sloped off home for a good cry.

My straw hat is not coming off for the foreseeable future.

Lups that's mixed news. Great that he'll be working but a long commute and time apart in the week. I suppose it could be quite nice in some ways, like dating again. Will he keep looking for something nearby? Where will he stay in Reading?

MrsJB, I can only echo what G&T says. Man up.

Now, where's the postman got to?

largeginandtonic · 11/06/2008 09:35

Lovely midwife who is going to bring me fantastic news arrives at 530 Not a great time is it, i am thinking fishfinger sandwiches for tea outside so they dont mess the house up. Course i have to tidy it first.

Hurry up postie.

Lups excellent that he has a job, better to look for jobs while employed than not. Hopefully he will find one close to home soon.

Pinkjenny · 11/06/2008 09:40

You're all so horrible. I told you George Michael is L's dad. And dh is nothing like DG! He's a gorgeous man (dh not DG), a bit crap, but gorgeous!

And now I am going and never speaking to any of you again. Bullies.

ShowOfHands · 11/06/2008 09:51

She's just cross cos she's been rumbled. That ain't dh on your profile PJ, it's Daniel Bedingfield.

No fb? [cross] I have names... fishfinger sandwiches sound fab.

Pinkjenny · 11/06/2008 10:08

Daniel Bedingfield? He usually gets told he looks like Frank Lampard. another

I've never had a fishfinger sandwich, but I notice talk of sweetcorn. L lurrves it, and loves to sit and munch on a corn on the cob, but the resulting nappies are alarming.

madeindevon2 · 11/06/2008 10:43

ok so freddie is off food agan anyway coz hes ill
but what is good finger food for a 1 yr old with only 2 teeth. corn on cob sounds a bit tough to manage with such a lack of teeth?

Pinkjenny · 11/06/2008 10:49

L loves apple, sweetcorn (she has 7 teeth, not sure how many F has), toast soldiers, pitta bread, fairy cakes , pears, new potatoes, strips of chicken or ham, 'real' chips made with new potatoes, cucumber, oh, and pizza. But she's only had that once .

ShowOfHands · 11/06/2008 11:06

Mathilda has eaten whatever we eat since 6 months. She had no teeth till 10.5 months. She managed corn on the cob fine without teeth. Combination of raking kernels off with her gums and picking with her fingers.

So far today she has eaten weetabix, two slices of toast, a banana, a breadstick, some raisins, an apple and a yoghurt. She's a gannet. I'm doing Spanish Omelette for lunch and cottage pie for dinner.

Pinkjenny · 11/06/2008 11:07

L won't let us feed her now, she wants to do it herself. To be fair to the little monkey, she gets it in her mouth 80% of the time. The rest goes in her hair.

madeindevon2 · 11/06/2008 11:22

maybe i should be a bit more adventurous. dh is a massive worrier and when i give freddie stuff he panics its gonna get stuck and whips it off him at the slightest hint of it all going in! nightmare....lucky dh not around every mealtime!
freddie is ok with soft fruit (although hes got such sensitive skin he goes all red and blotchy round the mounth for a while which isnt nice for him)wheat intolerance means ive stopped giving him breadsticks and biscuits but he does ok with ricecakes.
he likes to try to feed himself but often flicks it all around the room!?
he still gags a lot on lumps which is so frustrating...he does really well for a time and right at end of meal gags on something and throws the whole lot back up.....
can u tell the whole food/eating/not putting on enough weight thing is getting to me!?

madeindevon2 · 11/06/2008 11:24

oh and hes allergic to egg too
both dh and i are totally non fussy eaters and really want freddie to be too.

madeindevon2 · 11/06/2008 11:25

Wow SOH, M has eaten more already than freddie manages in a whole day...maybe 2 in fact

madeindevon2 · 11/06/2008 11:27

i couldnt give him apple or cucumber with 2 teeth surely?

TillyScoutsmum · 11/06/2008 11:28

Hi all

Good luck LG&T

madeindevon - Tilly is the same - she's such an awkward bugger when it comes to food - doesn't like lumps, not keen on meat or fish, won't eat hard fruit and basically lives on mashed potato, lentils, fruit & veg purees, yoghurt and wotsits. Tried sweetcorn once but was put off by the re-apperance of whole kernels in her nappy [gag emoticon]

largeginandtonic · 11/06/2008 12:17

MID you would be amazed what they manage. The gagging is totally normal and nothing to be scared of, they all do it and usually sort themselves out. Take the skin off the apple and just hand it to him.

Beau eats whatever the rest of us are eating, i dont bother whizzing just chopping. This week he has had lasagne, chicken with pesto and peppers with cous cous. Sausages with mash potato, broccoli spears, carrots, sweetcorn, cucumber. Ham sandwiches, cheese cubes, oranges (i was faffing about cutting them up but when SOH came to stay Tilda just ate them so now i dont bother) apples, grapes, strawberries. He is a food monster. He has 4 teeth up top and 2 at the bottom!

Be brave and ignore the mess, if you leave it long enough he will go back to it and hoover later

SOH Postie yet??????? FB is back up
