DD was doing the same last night. She had a massive plate of tuna pasta to herself and then an hour later marched over to where we were eating and held out her hand expectantly until we gave her some broccoli and sweetcorn.

Lupins71 · 10/06/2008 15:07

Lol at you two I have just woken from a lovely snooze, the car has gone of to be mended so hopefully I will be able to escape Chipshop soon.

Are you sure theres not a secret meet up going on - its very quiet

Pinkjenny · 10/06/2008 15:08

Ha ha, that's EXACTLY what L does. She had mashed potato and roast chicken, then a nice pudding of Buttons (bad mummy). We had chicken with salad and new potatoes, and she was quite happily playing, until she realised we were eating, she crawled over faster than the speed of light and just started taking bits off my plate. We've had this for the past few nights now.

And the sleep is still a palaver. I tried to do what you do, but she won't go to sleep.

ShowOfHands · 10/06/2008 15:08

Oh I beg to differ, George Michael was probably very out.

You do know that icecream isn't a food don't you? I don't understand it at all.

When are you going to come and meet us then?

ShowOfHands · 10/06/2008 15:10

Have you thought of going to see a cranial osteopath?

We are at a meet up honest. LG&T is showing scan pics round. It's quads. Didn't you get the invite?

Pinkjenny · 10/06/2008 15:10

Another x post!

I want to meet you all asap. Do you have any trips planned? Was going to go and visit LG & T first weekend in August but that's the Abba/Dirty Dancing extravaganza. You can come to that if you like.

ShowOfHands · 10/06/2008 15:14

Would love to come of course but I'm sawing off my left hand with a blunt spoon. TonicWoman's coming here in the summer when they've picked a date. Tag along.

madeindevon2 · 10/06/2008 15:15

i'm in a quandry.
u mightremember i got my last company to make redundant when they refused all flexible working, even refusing to let me start at 7.30 instead of 7, and saying my role was incompatible with motherhood!! anyway. i thought thats it. i'm done with the City. BUT....i had a call and ended up going for a meeting yesterday with a very small niche company in the city. Boss seems great. said i could start at 8.30 and leave at 5 (earlier if its really quiet) as long as im "blackberried up" at all times. So i would be one of those annoying people talking business on the train and walking down the street but needs must. He wanted me in the office 5 days a week initially but would consider letting me work from home 1 day a week if things go well.
so.....hes not officially offered me anything yet but was talking as if he was going to. Hes calling at the end of the week (to talk salary i think)
so....it doenst get more flexible than that for a city job BUT the trains were hell on the way home. I left office at 4.15 and didnt get home til 6 (its a 30 mins train ride....) so that put a dampner on the day AND Freddie is poorly today after being in nursery all day (dh is a worrier about that)
plus i havent got a full time nursery place (the one he attends now can only take him 2 days and others i have called all have waiting lists)
they would want me to start in August....my sister said she would help out having Freddie until i get a nursery place full time BUT she is due to have her 2nd at the end of August....methinks looking after her own 3 yr old, my one year old AND a new baby might be too much to ask?

today Freddie is poorly and i wonder if i could ever leave him but....this is also a good opportunity.
also dh is worried about his job.....sods law if i dont take this job he gets made redundant in 6 months time.....
anyway sooo much to think about.
any words of wisdom in deciding what to do??
(at the moment im living off my savings....that cant last forever so unfortunatly i do have to work at some point. we have an expensive exwife and 3 other kids to support as well as ourselves)

Pinkjenny · 10/06/2008 15:28

Ooooh yes, will do. Without sounding too desperate, LET ME KNOW.

Madeindevon2 - god lady, that's a quandry and a half. I couldn't even begin to advise you, and I'm a HR Manager! I do 4 days a week, and pick L up at 5. Its hard work, but I have to say, I wish I was at home. Financially though, it would be so much of a stretch to allow that to happen. And I haven't even been able to find a permanent job, mine is interim until December.

For me, the main priority is that I don't work full time. I know one day a week with me doesn't make much difference to her, but psychologically, it makes me feel better about leaving her.

MKG · 10/06/2008 17:25

OK Where is LG&T didn't she have her MW appointment today? OR is it next wednesday?

Hope everyone is having a good day. It's about 100 degrees here.

madeindevon2 · 10/06/2008 17:33

in an ideal world i would be at home with Freddie. possibly doing something part time, maybe even voluntary work.

JamInMyWellies · 10/06/2008 19:38

MID cant really offer any advice. Do you think you would be happy working, could you survive by tightening your belts, what about employing a nanny that way Freddie would be looked after at home so not such a worry if he is poorly?

OOH Summer meet up on the Norfolk broads could we hire a narrow boat.

Pebble thats great news 4 will be a doddle ask G&T says the girl who is panicing about having 2!

Lups fab news about the home schooling.

PJ what is this dean gaffney buisness I always seem to miss the mad gossip days.

We went to the zoo today as you can see DP is still deathly ill with his sinus infection . Had a lovely time we got to feed an elephant. So we have joined up for a yr means we only need to go about 4 times to make it worth our while.

Archie is trying to run its the funniest thing I have ever seen he starts to walk and then gets faster and faster then doesnt know how to stop.

largeginandtonic · 10/06/2008 19:42

You will just have to listen to me from the floor, ok?

I am too tired to sit up. Midwife tomorrow MKG, am terrified.

SOH love the torture of Pink We are coming in August, as soon as dh is home from sea and we are organised or maybe we will just come

Maidindevon what a dilemma, i dont knw what to suggest. I often think about going back to work but for a rest not to actually work. The commute sounds like a nightmare. Do what your heart tells you and you wont regret it. It is a toughie.

Pink if you are knocked up by December then you cant go back to work. DH will have to let you stay at home with Lexie and grow fat with the next one

I am so tired, did i mention that?

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 10/06/2008 19:43

No need to hire the narrow boat when your Grandma has one!

Mathilda started trying to run this weekend too. She only stops when she hits something.

MID, look into your heart. If you want this job then there are plenty of childcare options to look at. Thing is, do you really want it?

Dean Gaffney is Lexie's real Dad Jam.

largeginandtonic · 10/06/2008 19:46

Ooooh spooky cross posts! Promise we are not on the phone to each other or anything, weird.

Yes a narrow boat sounds fun, although with inevitably running M and B it may be hairy mclairy Do they make mini life jackets?

B had his 12 month check today, lovely health visitor. Listened to me and made supportive comments. She can stay.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 10/06/2008 19:47

No i have seen that child she is far too cute to be anything that Dean G had anything to do with.

OP posts:
JamInMyWellies · 10/06/2008 19:55

VVV at the thought of dean gaffney being lexies dad, mind you I dont think she has a photo of her DP in her profile

largeginandtonic · 10/06/2008 20:04
