Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

how terrifying, ev but hopefully she will get the message. ds1 wandered off from my stepdad a couple of months ago whilst in lidl and was found accompanying some old bloke at the end of the carpark - he got words from stepdad, my mum and me, I can only imagine how much I wld have been panicking had I been there.

castles, doesn't sound like school hols getting much better for you at the moment, hugs! are you having a holiday or is dh going to be home for a week?

lennied, def.go for bigger wraps, me work fine when they're baggy but I do find they're not as comfy on him at night as the lovebums which have fleece cuffs, he has v.chunky little legs! I bought one of my lovebums on here (staccinator have fleece cuffs too I think), phaps have a look for one as no pricier 2nd hand than a ME.

EustaciaVye · 24/07/2008 21:29

I did cry in front of DD when DH got home. He has had words with her and we think it has sunk in. She stayed up a bit late tonight and had some extra cuddles.

DD2 gorgeous at the moment.

Gloria42 · 25/07/2008 09:07

Trauma in the Gloria household too yesterday - DS tripped in CM's garden path and put his teeth through his bottom lip. Cue much blood, many tears and a trip to A&E.
Thankfully no stitches, just a swollen, scabby lip. I think my hands have just about stopped shaking...

EustaciaVye · 25/07/2008 09:46

aw Gloria, there is so much blood isnt there! DD2 bit her tongue last week and it was everywhere...Her own fault though as she was running around with a bucket on her head

Olihan · 25/07/2008 17:07

Yikes, Gloria, ds2 did that a while ago - the amount of blood is unbelievable for a fairly small cut.

EV, it's awful when they disappear, isn't it? I'm glad she seems to understand, I don't think ds1 is quite at that level of understanding yet.

I've just been sent a whole load of reusables by another MNer so I think I'll be on here asking for advice, Lennied and AQ.

Dcs are back tomorrow. I'm missing them now, the novelty of being child free is wearing off.

babypowder · 25/07/2008 18:33

And they always seem so bewildered when they hurt themselves like that It's that bit I can't cope with - I'm OK with the blood.

Our remaining chicken died today. She had been a singleton for a couple of years, though, so she did quite well. DD1 decorated a cardboard box for her to be buried in, and immediately started deciding what to call the replacement 2 we are apparently going to get tomorrow Mind you, it will be nice to have some fresh hens, as only laid about 6 eggs this year!

LenniEd · 25/07/2008 19:55

Gosh, its all going on lately isn't it. Gloria, am glad to hear it wasn't as bad as first thought. Castles I hope you are ok and recovering from the catalogue of disasters you've had lately, it never rains but it pours.

BP - we want to get some chickens. Are going to wait until next year now I think as the patch of land we want to put them on is horrendously overgrown, if we wait for it to die down in the winter they should be able to keep it under control for us shouldn't they??

AQ - Am in some maternity now - still in normal tops but am wearing some maternity trousers. TBH I had never quite go tback into all my old clothes after DD, was still about 7lbs over what I was with her and then I lost that and a bit more in the first few weeks of being pg so am now what I was before being pg iyswim. Have got a bump now though so am finding normal trousers uncomfortable. I need to keep an eye on my weight this time, don't want to put on like I did last time

Forgot to say on the sleeping bags about 6 pages ago DD hasn't let me put her in one since she was 11mo - she knows her own mind and is more stubborn than her mother, which is saying something I think she is finding her nappies fascinating lately, she never took any notice before. I think she is taking them off when she is first getting off to sleep so is probably just giving them a closer inspection! It'll be a phase though... everythings a phase...

LenniEd · 25/07/2008 19:57

what I was before her that should be - lord help me if I was 7lbs over what I was with her!

accessorizequeen · 25/07/2008 21:09

awww, traumas! I can absolutely cope with ds1 hurts himself as he seems ancient really but ds2 I just feel awful! Poor gloria and ev (don't ask about bucket on head...).

um, lennied didn't follow that AT all but no matter I've given up on weight gain completely, it's probably going to be 50lb and I don't care!!! This heat is killing me, I thought I was going to keel over this morning in a friend's garden. Why do babies crawl all over you when you're boiling (well, mine does)? Anyway, I think perfectly reasonable to be ALL maternity bottoms by your stage, I certainly was in 2nd pg! I have been lucky enough to lose weight with each baby, but I think it was the bf, I'm finding it hard to see how I can manage 6 weeks much less 6 months at the moment having bought a couple of twin books to make me wake up.

castles, things any better? mail me if you'd like to chat, we haven't for ages! you were so sunny a week or so ago!

accessorizequeen · 25/07/2008 21:11

btw, lennied, how're you getting on thinking about bf with dc2? you were going to give it some thought and speak to dh?

oli, you'll regret saying you miss them by....sunday morning at the latest! Reusables, excellent, what have you got?! I'm buying up newborn stuff at present on here, NO way am I paying for 150 nappies a week (which is what I've estimated for 1st week). Council are changing bin collection to fortnightly soon as well.

Olihan · 25/07/2008 22:05

I have a massive selection AQ, swaddlebees, tyotsbots, ME bamboo, ME Sandy's, wool longies, various wraps, Ella's House hemp bumhuggers, bambineo teddy & bamboo, MEOS and Minki huggles. I was asking about ds2's eczema/nappy rash on here and Amphibimum very kindly sent me them to try and see if it was the chemicals in the disposables aggravating it. Bless her. I have a room full of nappies and no bottoms to put them on. I can see me becoming seriously addicted though - they are so lovely, aren't they?

Castles, if you want a break in Cheshire just shout. We can set up a 'dorm' for the dcs, and let them roam free in the countryside . Feel free to pile them into the car and head up the M6! (We can leave them with dh and go for wine too, if you like!)

accessorizequeen · 25/07/2008 22:14

ooh, olihan, you lucky thing! The bamboo would be very good for his skin, it has antibacterial properties I think. I've been using mostly bamboo and sandies this week as it's so hot. Sandies are fab. We use minki huggle at night (as does indith), really great! As I believe are the bumhuggers. Are you going to put them on him tomorrow when he gets back? DS2 looked so cute today wondering round in t-shirt and nappy, nothing else.

babypowder · 25/07/2008 22:51

Ooh, a room full of nappies. Very Saying that, I still need to get rid of all of my small nappies. Must put some on the MN boards. I also must get some Sandys. I have Popolinos (which are the same thing I think), and I love them in the summer. Had a few tiny Sandys. But what I must invest in first is some larger wraps! DD2 still has little chunky thighs.

babypowder · 25/07/2008 22:53

LenniEd, I put my chickens on some very overgrown areas. As long as their house is on bark, sand or similar, and they have a bit of open soil to dust bathe in they are pretty happy. It's going to be strange not having a hen pecking round the garden - they are lovely company, even if they're not laying!

EustaciaVye · 26/07/2008 02:21

Aaargh. I cant sleep.

Cant keep up with talk of chickens and real nappies but thought I'd just say Hi

babypowder · 26/07/2008 08:45

EV, hope you got some rest.

We're having our annual summer party today, and have woken up to a haar. Pray for sunshine, ladies - my house isn't big enough to accommodate everyone!

EustaciaVye · 26/07/2008 08:51

Hope you get some sun. I'd never heard of a Haar so have just looked it up

LenniEd · 26/07/2008 17:23

Ooo, I feel all educated now! Thanks EV/BP

WHat a lovely selection of nappies - all my favourites in there. We like Swaddlebees and Sandies best at the moment. Have bought a couple of thirsties and like those too - so soft. Some people don't like the Swaddlebees as they are very slim fitting - but they fit DD perfectly and aren't much chunkier than a disposable - plus we have some adorable pink ones which I put her in when we are at home without a wrap or trousers as they are unbelievably cute! Beware Oli, you will get addicted! I am looking forward to having a new baby just so I can have reason to buy some more nappies! The huggles and ellas house will be great for night time.

BP - what small nappies do you want to sell? I need to buy some more newborn ones

accessorizequeen · 26/07/2008 20:02

annual summer party, what a lovely idea! hope it went well despite haar bp. I'm buying up newborn nappies & wraps too right now (some xs wraps arrived this morning OMG. I didn't use cloth with ds2 until 4 months...) so in case lennied doesn't want them, ask me!

ev, feeling better? you didn't say how anxiety etc was faring, are things improved for you these days?

EustaciaVye · 26/07/2008 21:55

aq - I'm not feeling too bad at the moment anxiety wise. It helps that DHs business is picking up so less £ worry.

I might have some cloth nappy things that someone gave to me. Never used them as I didnt know what to do with them. I;'ll dig them out and look at labels if that will help someone. Had some nappy liners too I think.

accessorizequeen · 26/07/2008 22:56

I'm glad to hear that, ev - dp runs own businesses too, I know how stressful it can be. The credit crunch and increasing price of electric not helping him at present. Just realised I am starting mat. leave in a week, yikes. You'll have lennied, indith & I beating each other off for cloth nappy stuff!

LenniEd · 26/07/2008 23:22

Yep you will EV!! Am also glad you are feeling better about things.

DH runs his own business too! Very stressful - also suffering at the moment with sales being slow, but main issue at the moment is cars - his business pays for his but he doesn't use it as it uses too much fuel so he drives mine everywhere instead. So his business is paying for a rather large and expensive ornament to sit outside. But if he wants to get rid of it he has to pay about £4000 to break the lease. If he keeps it he will pay about £9000 for the rest of the lease period - it has a couple of years left on it. That decision is causing major stress.

Have dyed my hair tonight with DHs help - was fed up of being far too blonde - am now brunette with a few lighter bits. Will tell you in a week if I like it haven't done a home hair dye since I was about 16! And that was more than likely red or purple or something!

babypowder · 27/07/2008 09:40

Oh dear. Stayed up far too late and drank far too much wine. First time since I conceived DD2, and boy am I out of practice. May crawl back into bed at first opportunity. The haar burned off fairly quickly, thankfully.

I'll dig out my nappies and let you know what I have. I know I've got loads of totsbots, a Sandy or two, wraps (including some a gorgeous one I got from Eli!). I've also got masses of all-in-ones.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 27/07/2008 10:28

I was up late too. I went to a party with friends from work and got home at 2.30.

dh put dd2 to bed without a nappy! So I had to strip her cot first thing this morning.

dh is at work today - so I am left with looking after the children. I think I'm going to have a tidy up then sleep in the garden.

LenniEd · 27/07/2008 14:18

Ah, bless him Margo! Bet that was an unpleasant job after a night out

Well you lot are making me feel very old and boring with all these nights out! I am missing wine so much now

Glad you had a good time BP - annual summer parties are definately something we should do. We had oen last summer and it was fun, we should do it every year. No, actually, far too much work. Maybe every year starting when DD is about 16 perhaps!
