Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I slept in ds2's room for quite a while b/c of all of our remodeling so it could be done, AQ. I think with twins the main thing is just surviving the first year!

Oh, and just to let everyone know that my remodeling karma has followed to the new house...I finally cancelled our carpet order after 3 weeks of delays and we went to Lowe's to get parquet for the bedroom instead. I told dh I am totally wigging out at the disorganization and I NEED to be in my own bedroom!

accessorizequeen · 08/07/2008 09:53

Yeah, surviving, sounds about right jabber I slept in ds2's room for a month or two until he was sleeping through but don't expect to be so lucky this time! Feeling calmer about it all today and slept in until 8.30 because ds's at mums!

Parquet, mmmmmmmm.

DS1 had appt with ped. yesterday whilst I was seeing my consultant - he's got an impaction and then medication for 6months-1 year after that to fix the bowel. Yikes! Having read the leaflet though, I do feel he gets enough fibre, fruit & veg and I force him to drink often. Just hope this doesn't happen with ds2 as I'm sure you are!

Indith · 08/07/2008 11:39

Oh ffs it just started raining again. Is my washing ever going to dry?

AQ so sorry for ds1 the poor boy.

I am never praising ds for his sleep ever again. Took calpol, ibuprofen and until around 9.30 for him to go to sleep. Typically it is creche day today so I had to wake him up early poor boy.

LenniEd · 08/07/2008 13:31

Hi everyone, know what you mean about the rain Indith. Am thinking of you AQ - you will cope you know, it will just be a little hectic for a while. And we'll all be here to support you, and I'm sure there will be plenty others who will want to help out once the twins arrive. In fact you will be moaning about how fed up you are with people helping I'm sure.

Have just had a letter from my GP saying I am iron deficient. Am over the moon! Was really worried that my general lethargy was normal, and have had a few dizzy spells which was a bit concerned about. Couldn't be more pleased to find out that there is actually something wrong, and more promisingly, it can be fixed.

LenniEd · 08/07/2008 13:33

AQ - the co-sleepers can take twins in one crib. There are lots on ebay too so could make a saving on one secondhand.

jabberwocky · 08/07/2008 18:37

So sorry he's still having problems, AQ. We have been giving ds1 supplements that are really helping with his impaction/poo problems.

probiotics - massive billions type of dosage
omega 3's - again the super high dosage kind
cod liver oil for high doses of A and D
magnesium glycinate

He's been off his meds for about2 months now and fingers crossed we are OK so far.

Lennied, so are you going for some spatone?

jabberwocky · 08/07/2008 18:37

Oh and this super fruit supplement that is high in fiber

accessorizequeen · 08/07/2008 21:57

Thanks, Lennied I do very much count on this group to keep me going! I have had offers ot help but will have to be more up front and take people up on it really. When is your next scan, are you finding out sex - I don't think you intend to, do you indith? Hope ds better tonight, arggghh 9.30!

Good news re: iron, Lennied - well you know what I mean. They have 3 for 2 on spatone at boots as I stocked up today (now I have so much time to go to boots!). I have 2 sachets a day, really helps but I'm fairly sure it is not as effective if you're really deficient to start with? I'll check the co-sleeper cots, I could barely fit a moses basket last time so something will have to move out if they move in! We have at least got some cots on standby.

Jabber, my goodness what a lot of supplements! I haven't even read the leaflet from the ped. yesterday. I'm sure you're right there are more things diet-wise I could do that might help. I believe there's a clinic he can attend a bit later.

LenniEd · 08/07/2008 22:52

Yes AQ - next time someone offers to help say "It would be great if you could.... (insert helpful task)" I'm sure they would feel very important and wanted for being able to do something useful for you. Whenever I get to help people it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling for ages and I feel all important. And if they didn't really mean it then they'll learn their lesson and not offer again .

There are loads of things people could do easily for you, like take the boys out for the afternoon with you or without you, or help out with cooking or take the twins for a walk so you can have some time to yourself. If you asked me to do something like that I would be thrilled to be asked and would jump at the chance.

Am getting iron supplements on prescription and then blood monitored for a couple of months. Scan on 1st Sept - seems so far away! Not sure on the sex - DH desperate to know though so no doubt I'll cave and let him find out.

LenniEd · 08/07/2008 22:53

Oooh... did you see that, almost 11pm! Waaayyyy past my bedtime night night!

accessorizequeen · 09/07/2008 20:17

Lennied, 1st sept is an age away, isn't it? Surely you're more than 20 weeks by then? You're prob. right about people helping but not sure I know those kinds of people!

jabberwocky · 10/07/2008 00:34

AQ, it is quite a lot to keep up with but the results have been so rewarding it gives us the energy to carry on with it. Diet-wise we have cut out dairy - that has helped with bowels and behavior.

lennied, is sept 1st your edd?

LenniEd · 10/07/2008 09:24

20wk scan is 1st sept Jabber - I think I will be closer to 21wks, but still seems so long to wait.

I had forgotten until last night how annoying my PIL are about what you shouldn't eat in pregnancy. They were nagging me all evening to have a pint of guiness - I absolutely loathe guiness, but that didn't seem to matter to them. Then they more or less blamed the salmonella crisis on me since I refused a cold prawn off my FILs dinner. They told me I was being ridiculous and it was all scaremongering. I agree with them that some of the food stuff is a bit OTT but really don't think it is any of their business what I do and don't eat. And I certainly don't think they should be practically forcing alcohol on me! Was so annoyed when I got home I gave DH a lecture on how he should be standing up for me on it all, don't think he has taken note.

jabberwocky · 10/07/2008 15:26

Sorry lennied I thought that sounded a bit soon for edd but got a bit muddled on the whole thing.

I totally agree that PIL should keep their (whacko!) food opinions to themselves!!

A little stressful around here lately. Problems with our renters and other house still hasn't sold. We decided yesterday to lower price

LenniEd · 10/07/2008 20:27

Jabber - I'm not sure I could handle another baby that soon anyway! Actually, the longer this one stays in there the better. Life seems chaotic enough as it is, not sure what I'll do when this one arrives. Although am sure we'll be fine, we'll just not do any gardening or cleaning for a couple of years . I would like to get a cleaner - might be hard to justify since I don't work though!

Sorry to hear about the house - we are having similar problems with my Grandparents. They want to sell and move closer to us but just can't get anyone to view. Their house is lovely too, but people just aren't interested in moving right now. I hope things are better near you, it really is so stressful dealing with houses.

Elibean · 10/07/2008 22:08

completely lost track of whats happening to/with/for whom. Though am glad to see pg fatigue being explained, spatone being supped, and scans being discussed

Jabber, sounds as though the housing market is in much the same state in the US as it is here...

As for me, am completely up to my ears in end of pre-school activities, loft-related decisions (all done super-fast because I had 3 4yr olds and dd2 downstairs at the time) and pre-holiday panic.

Am hoping to emerge soon, meantime am relapsing on G&B big time

accessorizequeen · 10/07/2008 22:10

sorry to hear about house probs, jabber. Did wonder whether you'd sold house or not. I have cut down on dairy massively for ds1, but since I got pg & so tired it's often the easiest thing to do a cheesy pasta for all of us , I am addicted to cheese this time around. He's not drinking his medication argggh.

Lennied, I hate the bloated stage where you just feel fatter rather than properly pg - is that where you're at now? Mind you I'm not too keen on the bit where you can't do shoes up (there already). Hmmm. PIL can be rather annoying, that would have driven me crazy. I tended (tend) to get the why are are working, are you still working thing from mine. Really irritates me that they spend hours talking to dp about his companies and never ever ask me how my job is. They still don't know what I do I think. Cleaner is completely godsend, if you can give up other things to afford one do! I would give up an awful lot before abandoning mine working or not. And yes, I suppose it is more chaotic for a while, but does settle down after a few months! I find it a bit boring now with just one tbh!

accessorizequeen · 10/07/2008 22:11

OOh, holiday eli (I live vicariously through the rest of you as not getting even a w/e this year!)?? I am finally sorted with school uniform, book bag etc all but shoes. DS1 tried on his school jumper tonight and looked so sweet. All the leaving parties next week - same with you?

Elibean · 10/07/2008 22:33

Wet and windy Norfolk, AQ if its sunny, will be lovely (beaches are great, I've been once before) but if its wet, its like being at home minus the playground etc.

Isn't it weird seeing them in uniform? dd is in love with grey pinafore, she looks so big and so small in it all at once...

I'm sorry your ds has been having problems with digestion again, hope its easier by the time school starts.

O I must go to bed....last day is tomorrow, teddy bears picnic, today was show, monday was sports, and we've had dozens of kids over this week somehow....

EustaciaVye · 11/07/2008 07:23

Hi Guys, Hope you're all ok. Havent read all of thread but I hope pregnant ladies are fine.

LenniEd · 11/07/2008 20:01

Yep, definately at the (very) fat stage of pregnant. Am eating well though so I deserve everything I get.

What do you think of the name 'Amber' ladies? Can't decide whether I like it or loathe it and would like some objective opinions - DHs choice BTW so feel free to be harsh.

Oooh, I hate the whole work thing from the older generation AQ. I wish they would get over themselves sometimes. They moan about how hard they had it when they were raising families - yeah right they could live ok on one income - and then go on about how we should all be housewives, not mothers of course cos we're not meant to play with the kids, but cooks and cleaners. Aaaarggghh.

accessorizequeen · 11/07/2008 20:37

Sure you will have a lovely proper bump v.soon Lennied .

I think Amber v.nice but tbh if you don't like it straightaway prob. not the name for you! What will you do if dc is a boy??? I've started again asking for girl twin suggestions argghhh.

I find that I get such differing opinions about working/not working. Those who are surprised I wouldn't work, those who are amazed I would carry on after dt's (well, I have to go back for 3 months that's all then we'll see). I do find the 'did you see this on supernanny' type conversations the most annoying though! Do they really think ds1 is like that, seem to dote on him but always the better parenting suggestions!

Eli, Norfolk lovely i do agree but anywhere when it rains with dc's is not easy!

Now that I"m getting more rest (and garden is a day off being completely finished, looks fab!) really enjoying days with the ds's - we had such a lovely time a the park this morning now that ds2 is walking properly and throwing bread at the ducks. He was an absolute delight.

LenniEd · 11/07/2008 21:13

A boy AQ? What is one of them? No, not considered that.

accessorizequeen · 11/07/2008 21:15

They're very nice, honestly

Olihan · 12/07/2008 22:39

Hello! PC back working but vomiting ds2 (as well as clingy/teething/not sleeping) so will catch up more later.....
