Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

Ooh, you're in for a treat AQ! All together now....Peppa Pig , Peppa Pig . You'll see what I mean . Am abou to email you.

Elibean · 06/06/2008 22:14

OMG, Oli, you have changed my viewing of PP forever

DH does a cracking impersonation of Daddy Pig for dd1, wonder if I should go and ask him to do one for me, now?!?

Olihan · 06/06/2008 22:20

I have to clarify here - I do NOT fancy Daddy Pig .

(Although he does have an oddly sexy voice if you're not looking at the screen )

Olihan · 06/06/2008 22:24

And I'm fighting off unwanted images of your dh dressed in green lycra and oinking, now .

jabberwocky · 06/06/2008 23:17

I must check out peppa pig. Like you AQ I prided myself on no TV for ds1 and now say to ds2 "Oh, Curious George/Sesame Street/Caillou is on!"

The book reading is definitely lower in volume at our house as well. I looked at an old thread to compare what ds1 was doing at this point and felt a twinge of guilt. Of course, ds2 is so different he doesn't seem to mind. I have come to realize that there really must be something to all that birth order personality business.

EustaciaVye · 07/06/2008 07:38

I refuse to listen to comments about Daddy Pig. It is my fave kids programme and you will not spoil it for me.

Elibean · 07/06/2008 07:50

Think of it as ehancing, EV?!

Jabber, Caillou is sweet - dd1 watched it in France last summer. Highly educational stuff, no guilt required IMO, especially during relocation!

DH in green lycra....the thought is putting me off my breakfast....though I do have a very arty photo of him at 17 (taken by his brother who was a rock photographer) in nothing at all, peeking out from behind bushes like some sort of angst ridden woodelf....

Wonder what it would be worth not to publish it on the internet, in fact? Should I ever need matrimonial blackmail material?

castlesintheair · 07/06/2008 08:52

TMI alert Elibean, remember I have met your DH

Don't stress about not reading enough, once the eldest is at school (quite soon for the majority iirc) they will be able to read and then, they will be able to read to the young 'uns. I mean that's why we have more than one, isn't it????????? I'm actually wondering if 4 is about the right age to teach DD1 how to iron ...

babypowder · 07/06/2008 12:01

Castles, DD1 is up the chimney as we speak, and when she comes down will mop the floors, dust the skirting boards and do the washing up. She will then be responsible for keeping DD2 occupied for the rest of the day.

I see no other reason for having more than one

Elibean · 07/06/2008 12:44

dd1 announced yesterday that when she was a teenager, she would still live at home with us, so she could babysit dd2. Not sure whether to celebrate or run in terror!

pen2101 · 07/06/2008 13:51

Hi there ,
I am new to Mumsnet
I have B/G Twins who are almost 19 months , they were December 2006 bubs
I live in West Byfleet and would love to meet up with other mums with bubs similar age

Penny

jabberwocky · 07/06/2008 14:41

eli, I sometimes wistfully wish for a Caillou-type child. Maybe that's why I try to get the boys interested, lol.

I do find myself saying quite often "Play with your brother/Watch your brother/Where is your brother? on the last one especially.

Welcome Penny! AQ is having B/G twins this fall.

EustaciaVye · 07/06/2008 20:22

Welcome Penny. 30 mins from me.

Busy day. Knackered. DD2 in bed. DD1 on way.

DD1 is often used to search for DD2 and 'read' to her etc. Very useful and I justify it by saying the social contact makes up for lack of 1-2-1 attention DD1 had at that age

Elibean · 07/06/2008 22:07

Welcome Penny

EV, you are very smart. Very. Am going to borrow that one.

Still no spots....d'you think I should count 21 days from when dd1 got her first spot, or 21 days from when they all scabbed over? dh is convinced dd2 is not going to catch CP at all..(can't take him too seriously, he's been doing Daddy Pig impersonations all day, to dd1's delight, after I told him that someone on MN's neighbour thought DP had a sexy voice).

EustaciaVye · 08/06/2008 07:54

21 days from first spot. If nothing then she will clear. Lol @ your DH.

Elibean · 08/06/2008 12:46

Well, thats it then - no CP for dd2 this time around (and some relief, must be said).

Took the pair of them swimming for first time in 3 weeks to celebrate. Then bumped into mate of dd1's whose Mum said her nephew had caught it from her dd exactly 3 weeks after being exposed. Hope we didn't jump the gun, though dd2 didn't go near any other kids exactly

EustaciaVye · 08/06/2008 13:59

Eli - she'd have to be pretty unlucky.

DDs have both been playing in paddling pool and have had a whale of a time. Now come in for a relax in front of heffalump movie as it is just TOO hot.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 08/06/2008 14:23

Hi Penny.

Isn't today lovely? We have the jets and planes overhead from the airfair today and tomorrow. It was a bit noisy yesterday - but it's only once a year so we can't complain.

Olihan · 08/06/2008 19:51

First night under canvas last night and it was pretty successful. Ds1 and dd took ages to go to sleep - finally conked out at 9.30pm - just the 3 hours later than normal, then! DS2 was a star, slept through until 5:15 wich is about average for him. He was the one I was most worried about so I have no excuse not to go to a proper campsite now! It won't be quite the same without MIL's bacon sarnies in the morning and roast duck for lunch but I'm sure I'll manage .

Hello Jenny! I'm sure AQ will be interrogating you as soon as she comes on. Have you seen the multiples board here too? Lots of mums with twins so you can compare notes!

Eli, I'm still struggling with Mr Eli/Daddy Pig images. I may need therapy . Hooray for no spots though, I'd say you've avoided it for now.

EV, I do that with dd and ds2! She loves 'reading' him nursery rhymes and teaching him the actions.

I also have ds2 well trained in putting stuff in the bin (too well trained really, as it's the first place he goes to put things away) and emptying the dishwasher, dd in tidying away clothes and loading the washing machine, and ds1 in putting garden toys in the garage. They're quite useful really. I may have another just to do the hoovering .

EustaciaVye · 08/06/2008 20:05

Me too Oli. DD2 insists on putting her own nappy in the bin when she has been changed. Who am I to refuse?

She actually found DD1s old potty today and insisted we got it out. She would point to her nappy then to the potty. We'd let her sit on it and found nothing but realised her nappy was warm so she must be working out the association.

babypowder · 08/06/2008 21:57

Poor old DD2 developed a nasty tummy bug today, and has done nothing but vomit and sleep Her temperature seems to be coming down now, but I'm never good when they're poorly like this.

It was a glorious day here, as well. DD1 had her dance concert today, so she and I had a lovely walk along the river and up to the Cathedral hall (DD2 was left with DH for a couple of hours. Shame it was too early for the football )

I can foresee that DH and I will see very little of one another over the next month as he remains glued to the European Championship!

And well done, babybean, for avoiding the pox You just keep your mother on tenterhooks!

babypowder · 08/06/2008 21:59

We tried to put the fab tent DH bought me, but it's too big for our garden We have quite a big garden ... and now one enormous tent. I can tell we're going to be the family that all the other campers glare at.

Hey, I've done my years of wilderness & survival camping. Now I want some luxury [preen]

Elibean · 08/06/2008 22:32

BP, I think you may be the family all the other families want to move in with, especially in bad weather

Poor little dd2, I hope she's better soon - have an upset tummy myself, and my friend's LOs are currently throwing up and feverish, so suspect yet another lovely bug is doing the rounds. Hope no one else gets it in the BP household.

Oli, I've traumatized you, how can I possibly make up for it....does it help to know that dh, as well as doing a good Daddy Pig impersonation, is actually a therapist? No, maybe not!

What a great idea, training LOs to put nappies in bin. dd2 is very keen to put things in things, so would be ideal time - though I'd rather she didnt' learn to take hers off, she's trying to

I thought I saw a possible, potential, teeny spot tonight in the bath. On dd, that is, not on the bath, IYSWIM. And she's very unsettled tonight. Then again, I may be seeing spots before my eyes from staring too hard....fingers crossed...would be typical of dd2 to get CP a day after you're meant to be safe!

Olihan · 08/06/2008 23:00

LOL, Eli, DS2 can get his off (or dd does it for him). Luckily he's only ever done it when he's wet - although he stuck his hand down the back of it the other day and came up to me holding out a very poo smeared hand saying 'oh dear' .

He also likes to stand in front of the toilet and push his pelvis towards it like ds1 does when he wees!

I've got my hands over my eyes and I'm 'la la la la-ing' at any more mentions of Mr Eli-Pig, btw .

jabberwocky · 09/06/2008 08:09

DS2 is being quite curious about the potty but I'm not getting swayed into it this early. Ds1 got me all excited that we would train early and, well, that didn't work out at ALL.

Spent all afternoon at the lake yesterday and managed to keep sunscreen on the boys but somehow miss re-applying on myself. Ihave my first sunburn in years and it is rather uncomfortable. Can't believe I was so lax. We had a really good time though.
