Good luck at work tomorrow omy and ginger (I think?).

Had my first proper shot of dc's 10ft trampoline today. My mum and dad got them it for christmas when I was obviously hugely pregnant - I did get on it a few weeks after Andrew was born but felt like my insides were going to fall out so abandoned it!! Was great fun today though - ds2 was concerned at first that I would fall through it - was more risk of me braking his scooter when I was on that yesterday - think I may be regressing!!

mitfordsisters · 29/06/2008 21:24

Grandparents love babies - fact. I went to see my mum at the weekend, and though we spent half the time shopping (the number one leisure activity in uk apparently which is a bit depressing), the other half was spent cooing over ds. If I'd known how much reproducing would cheer up my parents, I'd have had a baby years ago.

Thoughts are with you princess. Hope you are bearing up alright and little ferdie getting well.

Hey Omy - good luck tomorrow at work - tell us how it goes

I've just eaten half a slab of green and blacks in 2 minutes flat.

ThursdayNext · 29/06/2008 23:46

Even DPs parents seem quite keen on their grandchildren even though his mum claims not to like children! Apparently she regrets not getting a dog instead of having children!

Sally and Tyaca, yeah, I was thinking of a Mei Tai or something similar but with buckles, maybe a Sleepy Nico.

Rozzy, definitely need a proud mummy emotion for bike riding at 3.8, that?s great.

Omy, good luck with going back to work, and good luck to your DH too!

Egg, congrats on the rolling babies. DD isn?t going any further than her side yet, and she was born on the 14th Jan so same age as your twins.

sallyforth · 30/06/2008 00:08

Hello all.
Well DH redeemed himself today by looking afte LO for a large part of the day, going to the supermarket, cooking dinner and generally doing as he was told

omy - good luck with work!!!

tyaca - nooooo not a baby bjorn, poor baby with its dangling legs ..... and a mei tai will last you much longer as you can put LO on your back too! and you can get much prettier mei tais! sorry for unsolicited advice but IMO you should go for a mei tai every time!

  • also lol at old spice(s).

egg - thanks for tip re CTF online. I was thinking about this today and am pretty much decided to go with the family investments one too. like the sound of the ethical investment as do not want DS investing in tobacco etc.

Thursday - just looked at sleepy nico website. does Elimination Communication mean what I think it means??????!! nice design though.

mitfords - they had 2 for 1 on green and blacks at the corner shop last week... with predictable results in this household

right off to bed (yay) leaving the washing up for DH!!!! tee hee.

omy · 30/06/2008 08:48

Maybe Beany is on hols? or computer has broken down? I know I am supposed to be working! shhhh

Egg · 30/06/2008 09:47

Omy! You are on MN on your first hour or so back at work . Good for you. Start as you mean to go on and all that.

Happy days here today as it is MONDAY, my lovely day to myself. Am having a quick play before cleaning and tidying. Washing machine and dishwasher are running though.

Oh so Beany just doesn't love us . I will go and stalk her. I miss her.

I have a Baby Bjorn and use it on the occasions when DS1 is determined to go in pushchair. This morning I set up the Powertwin with the proper seats instead of car seats for first time as DTs are old enough to travel like that, and of course DS1 was instantly claiming a seat. Was nice though, he sat in the back seat, with DS2 in the front seat, which makes it a lot easier to push with heavier one at back, and I carried DD. It's only 5 mins though. Am thinking of getting an Ergo or similar so DH or I can carry one on our backs if we do all go out further together and don't want to take a separate buggy for DS1.

Realised we have not heard from MorningGlory lately (I don't think). Hope she is ok. Also Jaysfinished is not around much (but is probably very busy with her brood).

Mitford you are right about grandparents and babies. My parents had three grandchildren already from my sis, but still go all gooey over mine. They both gush about how adorable DD is despite us going on about how much more work she is than DS2. She is a real sweetheart thankfully which makes up for her PITA. She seems to be slowly getting better, hoping it continues and once she is established on food properly she will get through the night.

Rozzy, am loving your "regression". I keep trying to use DS1's scooter but it is one of those micro ones and only suitable for up to age 5, and it touches the ground when I stand on it . Next door they have one of those big trampolines with the netting round the edge to stop you from flying off, DS1 and I always look over wistfully wishing we could have a go. Might have to work on the pelvic floor a bit more first!

Egg · 30/06/2008 09:48

Sally glad your DH was a good lad and redeemed himself .

rozzyraspberry · 30/06/2008 10:43

Mmm - green and blacks - I love it!!! (white, milk and dark).

Egg - dc's scooters are up to 50kg - think I'm a tad over that! Our trampoline has a net too.

I've lost another 2lbs. I also bought new scales as my old ones were a bit tempremental (I know that's not how you spell it but can't be bothered checking the right way) and my new ones weigh me 5lbs lighter so I've updated my start and target weights too.

Omy - you're busy at work then

Hmmm, I had better update the weight chart too. I am gaining again after my loss a few weeks ago. Rozzy good news on new scales though!

My mum brought round two bars of Lindt 75% cocoa dark choc the other day. One mint and the other chilli. They are, or rather were sublime. Esp the chilli one. I finished them this morning. Breakfast was a coffee and four LARGE squares of dark choc. Ooops .

Waiting for Tesco man. Have hoovered downstairs. Am getting increasingly worried about the smell of deceased rodent that has materialised overnight. Can't find anything, but it is getting stinkier and stinkier [boak].

small round of applause for omy. you managed, what, 50min, at work before your mind drifted to MN?

oooh, today's going to be a looooooong day. dh working late then out. was going to meet some mumsnet mums in croydon, but that's been postponed. roll on weds when DH finished work for summer and 2 weeks today we move and will at least be on school site with other people around and can maybe start going to some mum and baby groups.

i have £40 topshop voucher, tempted to jump on bus and go to shops. only prob is that my nearest top shop is a 2hr round journey and i'd have to not try things on as only have sling here at the moment. tempted nonetheless cause returning stuff would keep me busy on another day.

rozza, your comment about insides falling out made me smile. dd loves it when i bounce the bed while she lies on it. makes me feel like my womb is going to fall down thru my fanjo tho'. its v disconcerting.

this week i lost the 2lb i put on the weekend before, and an extra pound too. hurrah. also managed to get into my fave skinny jeans yesterday. cant say they look good, or feel comfortable, but its the principal at stake here. now, if i could just look half decent in photo's, i might almost feel like a real life person again.

egg - dont do toooo much housework. and re morningglory, she hasnt been on at all since london bridge meet up which was about 5 weeks ago i think.

sally and thursday, just looked at sleep nico's - look good i think. have you heard about the london sling show? think i may go.

dh brought the decent camera from his school home this weekend and i have been papping dd. going to upload a pic of dd and dh that best showcases my talents as a budding photographer

Egg · 30/06/2008 11:16

Tyaca I love your posts. They are always witty . I put a couple of new pics on my profile yesterday, but for some reason they are blurred despite looking fine before downloading.

Maybe you scared MorningGlory off .

Well done on weight loss. I am done with the hoovering now. Just hanging up last load of washing and then will wait for Tesco man to bring me more bingeworthy food.

Egg · 30/06/2008 11:16

Can you use vouchers online, or is that not as much fun?

tyaca · 30/06/2008 11:36

egg your dts look so grown-up. i forget they're some of the oldest lo's here. i do wonder at times about ladlemonk - done a few searches and nothing's come up in other talk sections. please dont say that about morningglory. that is exactly the kind of bonkers thing i will think all by myself. spent last night on the top shop website, going to buy instore tho as i was to get maximum value in terms of stringing the buying out.

hope hope hope princessllama drops by soon to say all is ok.

Egg · 30/06/2008 11:42

Ahhh sorry, am sure she is just busy with her LO, it sounds like you had a great time when you met up (was that the time her DS soiled himself, or was that the time before???).

Gosh I really hope princess is ok. I cannot imagine the worry. I worry when my LOs have coughs etc .

Egg · 30/06/2008 11:43

And yes I sometimes wonder about ladle. Am sure she and her DTs are ok, as she posted when they were about 3 months old or so I think and they were fine then, so over the worst scary few weeks after being born so early.

tyaca · 30/06/2008 11:50

maybe she's just busy, apparently mutiples can be quite hard work

rozzyraspberry · 30/06/2008 13:10

Ty I've gone shopping with lo in sling before - just took him out and lay him on the floor! I love shopping but can only do 1 hour bursts at the moment as lo gets fed up.

Hope you're enjoying your child free day egg! Nursery finishes on Thursday for 6 weeks. I hope the weather is at least fair so I can just kick them out into the garden.

As well as the girls you've mentioned I sometimes wonder about rosequartz from way back in the ante-natal thread. She was on baby number 7 and had a few bleeds around 16 weeks I think - would be nice to hear that everything turned out ok.

Off to try and tidy up - the house is a tip!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 30/06/2008 13:19

morning /afternoon everyone!!!!

just thought i would say hi- oh and need a little help

DH and i have been married 2 years tomorrow , wow- what should i buy>?> its supposed to be cotton- i am thinking a new shirt for him to wear when he takes me out to dinner tomorrow night but it seems a little boring!!!!

Any other ideas????????

OP posts:
Egg · 30/06/2008 13:36

Rozzy - I am sooooo pleased that our nursery is open 51 weeks a year . It is bankrupting us but better than me being institutionalised .

Sarah, congrats on wedding anniversary. Now you see I would buy DH some cotton wool buds or something, as we don't really do proper pressies, but do always go for a nice meal. Maybe a signed photo of Dot Cotton .

Gosh yes I remember Rosequartz. Have not seen her around at all. I did a check for Beany earlier and she has not been on MN for about 10 days I dont think, so hopefully is on hols.

rozzyraspberry · 30/06/2008 13:55

Congrats for tomorrow Sarah. We don't really get each other proper pressies either but an item of clothing sounds like a good idea if 2nd anniversary is cotton.

Our nursery is just a pre-school nursery so closes for normal school holidays. It only costs £1 per week snack money though which is fantastic. We have got the 2 older boys booked into a sports club for 2 weeks of the holidays. It's from 1.30 to 4 and they get to try some ball games and other sports. It's from age 3-5 so they can go together. Too expensive to put them in for the whole summer but I think they'll enjoy it.

Egg · 30/06/2008 14:14

Now my problem is that i am getting very used to the lovely long hours of our nursery, and I can't imagine moving DS1 anyway as he loves it there and has made "friends" (he is only 2.4 so not actual real friends but he knows everyone and they play together). There is another nursery about 5 mins in the other direction that, although more costly than yours (£1 a week, wowowowoww!!!!) is cheaper than his current one. They only take children from 2yrs 8 months and as I really wanted DS1 going and settled before DTs were born, I chose his current one, but I can't justify or afford to send all three there for the next few years. Not sure what we will do. Sports club sounds fab though!

gingermumi · 30/06/2008 15:25

no time to read or catch up, just wanted to ay hello. Am very am back to work properly today and have left ds at nursery, i walked in, colleague said 'hi, you ok?' and i just burst into tears! Ds seemed fine when i left him so hopefu;;y he's been ok.

Have kept myself busy but just want to go home now. Hope all ok.

Egg · 30/06/2008 15:29

Oh ginger . I would be terrified going back to work. Not just leaving a baby/babies behind but having to do a job that I haven't done for months etc. Must be very hard. I always find if I am feeling a bit fragile I burst into tears as soon as someone is nice to me. You need to ask your colleagues not to be too nice! Hope it gets better very soon, am sure DS is ok, but just imagine seeing his little face and the big smile you will get when you pick him up later .

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 30/06/2008 15:57

been and bought him a shirt that islovely- will get pic and put it on profile when he puts it on lol!!!

Speaking of nurseries, my DS has been at a great nursery for 2 years, originally just 2 mornings a week and now 3- (its free placement from government i just pay £1-50 a day for his meals,)

However the staff are very cliquey, and in the last few months alot has happenend that i am not happy with!!wont bore you any more!!!!,

On friday Harry's key worker was asked to leave due to dwindling numbers- (this is not the case as far as i can see) as of then- no notice just go-
she told me via facebook that she was no longer there and i pu ton my status i was pissed off she had left as Harry would miss her etc- anyway got to nursery to collect Harry and the incompetant manager tells me Keith would like a word-so up i went to the office thinking ds had done som thing bad and he told me off for gossiping on facebook!!!!! what a bloody joke !!!!! i am not happy as he is not my boss and if i wish to express my opinion about Harrys nursery then surely thats my choice, i told him so too!!!! Really am annoyed and i know i am probably being a little sensitive but i feel so annoyed about it- seriously i am now def going to look around for a new nursery as this is the straw that broke the camels back!!!!, DH and i have been talking about this for a while anyway and now its made me act on it!!!

Sorry for rambling feel better now though XXXXX

OP posts:
Egg · 30/06/2008 16:05

Bloody hell. I would be if I got a telling off from nursery. How did they see your Facebook status anyway? Surely you are allowed to be upset? If DS1's keyworker was leaving nursery i would be sad. He loves her. I would sad if any of them left tbh as they are all lovely. Looks like it is time to move little Harry somewhere nicer.

Hope DH likes his shirt!
