Haylstones · 10/06/2008 18:35

Gingermumi, we went to Croyde Bay . It was fab- no need to say any more!

leesmum · 11/06/2008 08:16

Hi all

Well done Alkar on your weight loss

I have lost nothing this week again! But i did go into Next and buy muself two summery tops in a size 10!!! i know it'll come off eventually

Rozzy it sounds like you had a nice break, i meant to get on here on fri to tell you and Egg to have a great time but i left it too late, i hope Lo's last lot of immunisations go ok, We are taking Ds1 for his BCG injection today because he never had it as a baby. So i'll have to make sure i have something nice in my bag for afterwards!

Violeta its nice to hear from you and it sounds like you are loving being a mummy, yes its tiring but it's the best job in the world xxx

Hi Ginger, i didn't know it was Toby's Christening on sun, i'm glad you had a lovely day even though your PIL sound a little strange and lol at double boobie!

Hi Bessie, Thequietone and Ahrian it's great to hear from you lot xxx

omy · 11/06/2008 09:10

Hi all! I am in AUSTRALIA!!! such is the joy of the internet.

the flight was OK considering the 22 hours of incarceration! we had a bassinet for the first leg and darling LO slept all night as it was a night flight. 2nd leg was a smaller plane with only 2 cots and 4 babies. Luckily the nice ground staff lady sat me next to an empty seat so LO slept on there, however i felt so sorry for the couple with 15 month old twins who had only i cot and no spare seats. The parents looked wrecked by the time we arrived! this is the last long haul i do until LO is 3!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 11/06/2008 12:27

Wow- Omy, glad you had a safe flight and not to difficult either, Hope you have a great time with your family, and a safe journey home,

Hello to everyone else, sorry not neen on for a few days i have been getting the house back to normal now DH is back in work- woo hoo

Hope everyone is well, hayfever is driving me insane, the littlies are great, speak soon xxx

leesmum · 11/06/2008 12:56

Sarah sorry to hear you're suffering with hayfever, it's not something i've ever had, i get prickly heat instead! How is DH settling into his new job?

Omy G'Day Cobber!!! lol sounds like you struck lucky with the flight. Are you in Sydney? Whats the weather like? Have fun xxx

rozzyraspberry · 11/06/2008 15:09

Well due to lack of exercise last week and eating 'well' when we were away I managed to put on a lb last week. Thought I'd update the list so I can update it when I lose it again (hopeful emotion).

Leesmum - I've just ordered some new clothes online from oasis as I had a promotion code for 20% off. I've been able to get into my size 12 tops since I had lo but they will look a lot better once I lose a bit more weight (and I'm sure once my boobs are not so huge). I look ok standing up but when I sit down there is a bit of excess tummy!! Hope ds1 is ok after his bcg. They don't do that here until they're older - not sure when.

Lo's immunisations went fine and he's ok so far. I'll probably give him some calpol before bed tonight as I think his legs are a bit sore where he had the injections. He's 4 months old today so we've got his high chair out and assembled in the hope that if he's sitting at the table with us whilst we eat he might be happier and I might manage to eat a meal without him on my knee.

Hi omy - have a fab time!!! I think you were wise to go now - I always think babies are easier to travel with than toddlers!!

I'd better go for now as ds1 is pestering me to get onto the cbeebies website (it's amazing what they learn at nursery!). I'm looking forward to the apprentice final tonight but might record that britains biggest babies programme too. Some of the babies on that were as big as lo is now when they were born!!

watching the big babies thing...... ouch. But those women feeding their giant toddlers chips and burgers......

lljkk · 11/06/2008 22:21

Saskia, No brakes, but the walker doesn't move when they're too little or you put the seat high enough their feet can't really reach floor. And doubling as a high chair means they just sit next to the table (down by my knees) . Bit like feeding a dog, I guess but at least they can't throw the food very far from this low height(!). Useful when we want to sit outside or snack in different rooms we had a conventional high chair, but it was so bulky to move around.

Also have a little seat-try thing strapped onto an ordinary chair, to use as highchair setup at dining table.

gingermumi · 12/06/2008 12:18

am in awe omy- have a fab time!

Hayls - it's so cool there, dh is a keen surfer so we go every year at least once, it's probably one on my fav places! did you stay at ruda? we're going on 14th july, can't wait. we only booked for 5 days as wasn't sure how we'd manage with ds (why i don't know, ... i've been on holidays with babies before!), wish it was a week.

Am off to take dd2 to college for an exam now, so have a good day all

tyaca · 12/06/2008 12:35

afternoon all, hope everyone's well. i just managed to trap dd's finger in the clip of her chair real tears poor love but a quick recovery. today is clearly not her day ... she has her second set of injections at two this afternoon.

nighttimes are still tough here. she's sleeping v well in the day which is good. what seems to happen is that she goes down ok at night and then wakes up half an hour or an hour later it takes best part of an hour or so to calm her and get her to sleep again. a few times we have fed her at seven, got her down half an hour later but she's then asleep/ awake on and off and upset sometimes til dreamfeed time (10pm-ish) but does seem to settle after that. also, and this is strange, i'm finding that she's drinking a lot less with me that she does with dh. he routinely gets her to drink almost twice the amount i do.

gill, what is that big babies thing? i may check it out online.

sarah, i dont think i said this but v pleased re your dh's job. hope all's going well.

leesmum, how are you enjoying the football? so far i have only had to sit through the greece//sweden game and italy//holland. dh has italy in his work sweepstake so not best pleased with the holland result.

alkar, wd on the 5lb. rozza and gill, its swings and roundabouts i reckon and you'll prob lose 3lbs next week . i lost 2lb this week and am on the low 10stone area which am v pleased with. can fit into all but one pair of my old jeans now. rozza - i managed to run for a whole hour on monday... only covered 8k cause i am very slow. two months ago i couldnt do five minutes tho so am feeling v smug and am entertaining thoughts of doing a 10k later in the year.

bessie - would love the totbots! ty v much. tho one of my best mates made a very good job of dampening dh's committment to the idea of cloth at the weekend i'll CAT you -- unless you fancy a london meet? i am on a mission to get on more missions, if that makes sense....

talking of missions, omy you are hard and i am truly in awe of your australia trip. i hope you're having a lovely time.

ginger -- gl with work, hope it's all going well and only a few weeks til summer holidays.

saskia71 · 12/06/2008 13:22

Lljkk ? Thanks for the clarification. Loved your analogy to feeding a dog! I?ve just bought my first highchair hence the interest in highchairs. Isn?t it amazing that our babies will soon be feeding in chairs? It wasn?t so long ago that they were tiny helpless newborns.

I?ve Marcus lying in his highchair set to work top height. He simply loves his new found perspective of life, with work in the kitchen happening at his level, as opposed to above him.

Had baby massage this morning, not sure about the holding upside down by the feet part. Off to the gym now to atone for the previous months of inactivity.

rozzyraspberry · 12/06/2008 15:32

Tyaca - well done with the running. I too was really crap at running until I had ds1 - my stamina seemed to improve after that. I'm slow too - about 11mins per mile.

I've just watched the big babies programme. I thought it was just going to be a lighthearted look at some big babies which had been born - didn't realise that it was about big babies being born to obese mums. Gill I was also at the toddlers eating habits and their mums attitudes towards it. Feel quite sorry for the kids actually - they can only eat what they're given and obviously won't understand the damage they might be doing to themselves.

ds3 is a bit grumpy/tired after his immunisations yesterday. At least that's them finished until he's a year I suppose.

Bessie123 · 13/06/2008 08:55

Oh, I might have to check out the big baby thing, since my dd was huge when she was born. I have never been obese, though (well, I do feel obese now, still have all my baby fat...)

Tyaca - am VERY that you are able to run so far and you have lost so much weight. I don't seem to have the time to go running; dh leaves the house at around 7.00am and gets home at about 7.00pm, when I am putting dd to bed. After I have put dd down, I make dinner and then it is late and I am too full to go running perhaps I'm just making excuses. Our local gym has a creche that takes babies from 6 months, so I will be straight in there after the end of August. Or I could stop shovelling chocolate and cake down myself. Lets meet up, and I can give you the tots bots. It is not that bad using washable nappies, but you do need to rinse the poo of. It's not v nice, but there are worse things in the world.

Leesmum - hi

tyaca · 13/06/2008 11:41

saw the big baby thing yesterday - worth a watch tho' their premise of bigger mum equals bigger babies seemed v confused. that one stone baby that was born when we were all about 6 months pregnant was on the show. did anyone else's colleagues gleefully show them the newspaper articles??

bessie, tbh, if dh didnt get home til 7pm there is no way i would make it to gym. luckily he's back before 5 and gym is only three min walk away. have you started belly dancing yet? i have a very traumatic memory of being eleven and on holiday on morocco. my dad belly danced in front of a restaurant full of people... yup, he was wearing just a grass skirt and flower necklace .

oooh, yes let;s meet. let's chat here.

come join me and bessie in london ... nappy swap optional would be v good to see some london faces and little ones' faces too.

which reminds me - bean! where are you and how are you? have you had the follow up apptmnts for your ds? and princessllama i hope your quietness is cause any spare moment you have is being spent in a hot bath with a cold vodka smoothie.

yesterday's injections were a bit of a blood bath. poor other mums faces as dd and i went back to the waiting room bloody and screaming. my fave jumper is ruined. she slpet v well last night tho' ... maybe calpol is the future. today she is unsettles and seems to have a slightly raspy cough// dry throat.

rozzyraspberry · 13/06/2008 14:36

omg tyaca - how come the injections were so bloody? We always get little plasters on as soon as they're done so not messy.

Bessie - my neighbour had a 12lb baby and she isn't obese either. She and her husband are both tall and broad though so understandable her ds (her third dc) was a biggie. How big was your dd? I agree with you ty that it was very confused - one minute they're saying big mum = big baby then the next they're saying big mum = risk of really small baby!

I only manage to exercise because I have a treadmill in my house. When dh doesn't get home until 7 (only 2 days a week as he does shifts) I eat with the kids at 5 and leave him to fend for himself whilst I'm on the treadmill

Popped into work for a visit this morning which was quite nice. I'm not dreading going back quite so much as I was although I still don't intend to go back anytime soon (refused to give a date when horrible hr mgr asked - I know my rights even if she doesn't!!).

Where is everyone this week? Enjoying the sunshine hopefully!!

Gill79 · 13/06/2008 15:25

Hi everyone - I'm having a very tired week - LO is waking up quite a lot at night and it's beginning to catch up with me. Have very little time to get anything done as he is so demanding of attention in the daytimes. He is a real cutie at the moment though - have updated profile pics and also if you fancy a laugh check out me and DP doing a very poor job of feeding him banana.

banana

door bouncer

We're not really weaning - just to give him an experience and us some entertainment. Have started looking at a bit of online info on weaning but I feel information overload and confusion looming. MNer Aitch has a BLW blog which has lots of useful chat.

Hope you're having fun in Oz Omy - we were in Manly and the blue mountains last Feb at the end of an extended holiday and loved it so much we looked into not coming home. In the end we did and plunged straight into pregnancy!

Gill79 · 13/06/2008 15:29

btw you will notice the cool spiky hair has grown out into a lank comb-over. Is any cutting hair yet? I'm worried about making a bad situation worse....

tyaca · 13/06/2008 15:35

oooh, that bouncer vid really made me smile. malcom seems so big and grown up compared to dd. funny you should mention aitch's blog, i found it this week and have spent the last couple of days surfing net about all things blw.

rozzy, blood bath may have been a bit of an exaggeration... shower maybe . dont know what happened, first needle no prob, second one uggghhhhhh.

princessllama · 13/06/2008 21:00

gill he looks so cute in his bouncy chair, love the hair. even dh thought he looked sweet. how old is malcolm? ds is 12 weeks can't remember when he can go in bouncer.
tyaca have been flat out so not enough time to respond to posts, just read. not even had vodka smoothie yet, must do that now that youve reminded me. am up for meet up definitely.
things have got much easier hereas i've got in swing of things. unfortunately ferdie's reflux is getting worse but i suppose you can't win them all. im taking my mind off all things baby by planning a street party. very excited.

love your videos Gill- malcome is so cute, Hi everyone, how are we all ???

Gill79 · 13/06/2008 22:08

street party! how cool. Malcolm's 18 or 19 or 20 weeks - I lose track He'll be 5 months on 26th June. Guess you just need to wait for his head to be steady. Glad things are getting easier - hope you can make it to meet-up.

leesmum · 14/06/2008 11:23

Gill it looks like Malcom was enjoying that Banana, he really is a good looking boy

We haven't tried any foods yet mainly because James has only been on formula for a couple of weeks and we wanted him to adjust to that for a bit first, he is 21 weeks today so it wont be long, i must dig out all Ds1's baby spoons/bowls/ice cube trays and find some room for them in the kitchen!

Hi Sarah hope you lot are ok xxx

Princess its a shame ferdie's reflux isn't improving but how are YOU?

Tyaca did Esther have a good cry when she had her injections? If they cry a lot it makes it bleed more i think, has she had her BCG yet?

Rozzy Ds1 was ok after his BCG especially as we went into a toy shop to buy some "army stuff" afterwards! Ds2 had his a couple of weeks ago, they do them under 12months round here but somehow DS1 missed his when he was younger and i insisted they gave it him before they started school.

EGG hope you got home ok, and is BEANY away too or is she just v. busy at home.

Well who watched the footy last night, i was pissing myself with laughter that the froggies are nearly out ha ha ha

Have a lovely weekend and hi to anyone i've missed xxx

rozzyraspberry · 14/06/2008 14:07

hi leesmum . Glad ds1 was ok after his bcg. They never did bcg injections on babies here when we had ds2 in Oct 04 and only do them now if you're assessed as higher risk after completing a questionnaire. Perhaps it was the same in your area and thats why your ds didn't have it as a baby? I'm strangely getting a little bit excited about weaning now - the hope of a full nights sleep is probably part of it. Ds3 is almost 18 weeks now so well over the halfway mark to 6 months. Our hvs run a weaning club which I'm going to on the 23rd. I think they talk about signs your lo is ready and how to go about it. I'm quite interested in blw (hadn't even heard of it with ds1 and ds2) so I'll see if they offer any tips on that.

Egg - are you back? Did you have a good time?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 14/06/2008 15:11

We are great thanks leesmum- all adjusting to new jobs and stuff- Started to wean Rosie she is loving food!!!!!
