J took a bottle of milk to bed with him tonight
He's just not getting enough from me anymore, seems to be since he stopped the morning feed.

He has to grow up, and I'm pleased I carried on until he chose to stop, but especially with him not being able to have cow's milk, I don't want him to stop

CaptainDippy · 11/05/2008 19:49

for those with BF dilemmas, It is a wrench. xx

Evening all

Survived the dragon!

Caz, poor Molly. Hope she is better soon.

Hi POTC, good to see you. Hope things with the new man are still going well.

Hi Dooby and Dippy.

Runny, can't believe it has been raining in Majorca Hope the weather picks up for you.

SPB, how is T?

Oooggs, good to hear you had such a good night again

Sorry, have forgotten everything else.

Have overdosed on sunshine. We were literally out from 10.00 a.m. and left there at 4.30. It was a great day and B and K had a lovely time. The team that dh was part of didn't do that well, but it was great fun to watch.

Now absolutely shattered, and somewhat burnt pink around the edges!

oooggs · 11/05/2008 21:01

Glad you didn't get eaten sol

just finished meeting about the Rainbow Trip

dh took dts for a walk this morning so I had some quality time with ds1 and he was an angel, we went to the garden centre to buy some bedding plants and he offered to carry a basket for me (I was carrying two) we came home and planted them in the garden and he was really helpful. I don't get enough time with him

When dh went to work we went to a friends to play and she fed the children so I am now eating rice pudding from the tin

hope you all had good days and will have a good night.

CaptainDippy · 11/05/2008 21:17

Awwww, sounds lovely SOL - It is sooo nice when you get time with one of your DCs alone, isn't it!!?

I think D had a good time this afternoon, he had a little play in the paddling pool and a ride on a swing, then went to a cafe. He didn't eat that much but it was a nice afternoon and he's been much perkier.

Now though he's decided not to go to sleep tonight I think (dp is upstairs with him.

Just a 3 day week at work this week to survive if we don't get to sleep, we're going to France Thursday-Monday - my mum and her husband have a house in Picardie, about an hour from Calais!

MayPolerBear · 12/05/2008 07:08

Morning everyone

Sexonlegs · 12/05/2008 07:34

Dippy, it was Oooggs that had time alone with ds1

penpotEca · 12/05/2008 07:38

morning. just zooming in to say hello. Off to the library today HURRAY! T is back to his usual happy self and is going to hang out with daddy. And the sun is shining too .

for those who've stopped bf sooner than they'd hoped. I think I will be very when T does and then probably buy some new bras and be thankful to have my body back again!

liath · 12/05/2008 08:18

Morning. Been up most of the night with vomiting ds. Oh the joys....

MayPolerBear · 12/05/2008 08:30

eca, glad t is better, but sorry j is now ill liath babies on this thread really seem to be having a sickly time atm
i am having the opposite bf problem, t has reverted to a newborn and has been feeding about every 20 mins since saturday night.
Not sure if he's feeding himself back up after illness or his throat is a bit sore after coughing. Food wise eating very little, even by his standards. Any one got any advice or should I just go with it? Am back at work tomorrow

Eddas · 12/05/2008 08:41

hi everyone

MPB, I haven't got any advice re bf, hope someone comes along to help soon

Liath, hope ds is ok

Oooggs, it's nice to get time with the older one isn't it. They do get left out/shouted at, well my dd does

sorry, my little brain doesn't remember anything else

I am dreaming nurseries now and settling in[rolls eyes] i cna't wait for the next month or so to be gone but only so that they are, hopefully, settled into the new routine and so am I(and dh). Once we get used to it I think it'll actually be better. ATM i wor 3 pms plus 3 hours from home. With the new rules i'll work friday all day plus 7-8 hours on sat whilst dh has the kids. Better than the alternative of tesco which would mean working sat and evenings. Also at the end of the pita period(until dec when dd goes to school) i'll have a better job and should be able work less on a sat. Am thinking of getting ds an extra day or half day from Jan and working from home then instead of a sat.

Anyway enough of boring you with my nursery rubbish of to start the mammouth day

MayPolerBear · 12/05/2008 08:47

Thanks eddas, have posted on breast&bottle feeding as well.
Ikwym about just wanting to be settled into a routine, that's how I felt in March (and look how well my return to work went )
Glad you think the new routine will be better. I rhad to re-read the bit about getting your DS an extra day or half day, for some reason I thought you were meaning work - child labour!! That sounds good though, means you keep your weekends.

Eddas · 12/05/2008 08:52

good idea, he'll be 21 months so no reason not to be working

my return to work back in nov wasn't too smooth either what with dd then ds having chicken pox and then th car accident i still feel unsettled tbh as nothing runs smoothly anymore. When I had dd it was so easy. Maybe it's an april baby thing

MayPolerBear · 12/05/2008 08:53

I hope not!

liath · 12/05/2008 09:26

Eddas, sounds like things will be well sorted but not surprising you're feeling unsettled.

SPB, I wonder if he's compensating for having missed a lot of food and milk is nice and easy for him to digest?

Ds has BF more with this bug and my nips are sore. Doing this BF peer support training has made me wonder if ds's latch has ever been 100% right TBH.

Ds has peas for his tea last night so have spent the morning clearing up regurgitaed peas from all sorts of places - the cot, the spare bed, my hair, dressing gown pockets.....bleugh.

StealthPolarBear · 12/05/2008 09:29

That sounds awful
You've reminded me, I need to chase up the person who was meant to be registering me on the peer support training - she is sometimes at the bf session I go to but of course I haven't been for months to avoid sharing the runny bottoms
]oh...another feed! he asks to be picked up then sort of flop[s into the position!!

CaptainDippy · 12/05/2008 10:05

Poor him, Liath and poor you too. xx

Babies aren't stupid, MPB - I think he is BF more as he obviuosly feels too grotty to manage any more - he is keeping his fluid levels up by up-ing the BF. He'll be sure to slow down once he feel tip-top again xx

Morning all!

Bramshott · 12/05/2008 10:08

Hello everyone - sorry not to have been around much recently.

Was supposed to be going to have lunch with a friend I used to work with today, but O has woken up with really laboured breathing - sounds like a 60 yr old with a 50 a day habit! I'm going to go down to the doctors at the end of surgery at 10.45 and hope that someone will see her - will nodoubt be told that she's fine and just has a cold, but it will hopefully set my mind at rest. The wierd thing is that she actually doesn't have a cold, just this wierd wheeze .

StealthPolarBear · 12/05/2008 10:22

oh no bramshott
hope it is just a cold
morning dippy, thanks for reassurance (and liath too of course)

Eddas · 12/05/2008 11:03

eeeekk, been to the nursery and they start on friday, all day they have a settling in session on thursday(10.3-1) then straight in. Suits me tbh as i'm a panicker(won't show dc though) and will wind myself up about it so this way i won't have time as it's manic this week with work/meetings/friends bday/dh at concert etc etc.

But i have just realised that dh has the day off on friday(concert thurs night) but we have a whole day just us no dc

oooggs · 12/05/2008 11:19

well done eddas good luck for dcs for friday

yes eddas he does get shouted at and put upon

sun is shining - dh on lates so is home til 3pm - it does have its advantages sometime!!!!

back later dcs all complaining wanting attention

mamiguay · 12/05/2008 12:15

Hello! Chatterboxes that you all are Did the fastest skim read in the entire world and only caught

  1. little T still has a runny bum.. so sorry SPB that must be horrible and worrying for all of you.
  1. bedtime-dress habits - I am with Oooggs in totally overdressing my poor wee one it would seem. Given that it is pretty regularly in the 20s here now and we still have a big winter duvet and I wear jammies I think it is safe to say I feel the cold. As a result N is still in a vest and jammies with a ton of blankets

Life feels like it is on fast forward, I've been ill with a virus and fever etc and had a few days off work last week when I couldn't do anything. Now N has it . Work is mad busy, life is mad busy and I wonder when it is going to slow down a bit!

Thinking of you all, live in eternal hope of being able to get back on here to chat properly x
