hey greedy!
happy birthday Adam!!!! glad youv had a good day- sounds like a busy day!
im mostly better now thanx, but did make the most of it- dp was brilliant doing all the nappies etc (but it was his fault lol).
lookin 4ward to the pics!!

Febes · 25/11/2008 16:02

SAM- My friend bought it from a cake shop in Surbiton in Surrey for £14 which isn't bad. I think she will ebay it after all our antenatal group use it.
I have a confession to make After the first disaster cake that had to be chucked I bought 2 packets of Victoria sponge and bunged them in and then bought ready made icing. I only had a hour to bake it before we had to go out to meet everyone so I had to make it easy.

sam86 · 25/11/2008 16:12

haha a woman after my own heart! it looks absolutley brilliant tho! there should be more cake tin shops in this world!! i think i might buy one for the party and just make one for on her actual birthday if i cant get a better tin that the little round one ive got.
going to see santa on her birthday as well, or should we go the day after!? i thought it might be a nice extra for her actual birthday and then can go swimming etc. im not putting up the deccies till after her bday though to keep them seperate.

jetgirl · 25/11/2008 22:07

Happy Birthday Adam! Sounds like you had a very special day!

Febes - great cake! William's was not quite so impressive, but at least I managed to persuade DD not to decorate it with pink icing! Where in Surrey are you? I only ask as I have friends in Surbiton and my granny lives in Esher, would be nice to meet up one day maybe...

sam - good on DP for doing most of the nappies! When you're ill that's the last thing you want to deal with. Hope you're feeling better soon.

LOM - William is trying so hard to lift his leg up on to the bottom step, it won't be long before he's scaling them, can't believe it! Scary isn't it?!

I've updated my pics - check out William with his present from his MN fairy, doesn't he look happy? He just loves showing me all the buttons on it and watching them flash. Check out my little football fairy too!

RGPargy · 26/11/2008 11:18

Morning everyone

I cant believe there are so many birthdays coming up! I dont know about your LOs but Ellie still looks so small and baby-like - far too tiny to be a whole year old!

So now i find myself in a bit of dilema. What would you do?

Ellie's birthday is on a Friday and as it's a school/work day, i thought i would hold a little lunch thing on the Saturday instead and on her actual birthday, i was going to take her to the zoo with her DGP and DP. As it turns out my dad and brother cant make the Saturday and i've not heard anything back from my sister (no surprise there then!). I'm now thinking sod it, i'll have the party on the friday instead as the animals will all be inside anyway, wont they?

Nightmare! I feel like I'm totally unorganised for this! HELP!!

Hmmm, but then shouldn't DD's first birthday be all about her and her family, i.e. me and DP?? Am i trying to accommodate other people too much rather than just doing what WE want to do??!!

Febes · 26/11/2008 11:56

Yes exactly RG for the cake bit we just had DH, me and SIL who lives with us.

They don't need loads of people around to have a good time. I would take her to the zoo yourself and then say to family they can drop in at X time for cake and don't make it a big deal then less stress for you.

Jet- I live in Sutton so if you are near let me know I'd love to meet you and DC. The photos are brilliant. William has so much hair.

I'm so jealous as all the boys in our antenatal group have loads of hair with curls and look gorgeous and the girls have far less!! No wonder they get mistaken for boys.

RGPargy · 26/11/2008 12:18

Now that i've written it down, it does seem that i'm fussing over nothing. Think i will leave things as they are. Zoo on Friday, people round on Saturday. My brother and dad have both asked to come round on alternate days so i should be happy with that really!! Sod it. I'm keeping things as they are because that's what I want to do!

Every week i meet up with a couple of my friends and we "do lunch" so I just wanted to do something different for DD's birthday rather than just another lunch, if that makes sense?!

As the saying goes, you cant please all of the people all of the time.......

RG - the zoo will be brilliant. Definitely do what you want to.

Loopy - yes, he would have liked pink icing , he has a pink avent trainer cup, I ordered it online and it said 'colours may vary', he doesn't seem fussed, and he too sleeps in DD's old grobags! DD decorated my dad's 60th birthday cake pink so I was trying to persuade her that cake colours can vary!

Febes - I'll let you know when we're next in the area

DD has a cold - she must be ill as she asked me to turn off cbeebies and has gone for a nap without being told to!

RGPargy · 26/11/2008 15:43

I'm looking forward to Friday now, rather than fretting about the whole birthday thing! Thanx ladies!

RG - Glad you are feeling happier about Ellie's birthday. It can all get abit much sometimes can't it .

Jet - I know what you mean about boys and pink. T is fascinated with my friends daughter's to buggy !

Well it's all been a bit of a struggle this week. Work is stressing me out and I haven't been sleeping. I'm awake for two or three hours in the wee smalls on work nights and I'm exhausted - am considering a trip to the docs.

Glad the MN fairy seems to be doing its job appropriately - let me know if there's any probs.

Thanks Loopy - I don't mind him playing with buggys at all. It just makes me laugh that if there's anything pink about he makles a bee line for it.

RGPargy · 27/11/2008 13:02

Talking of pink, it's confession time. When DS was little, he was such a pretty little baby and i always wondered what he'd have looked like as a girl. Secretly i was dieing to put him in something pink, just to see, so you can imagine my delight horror when he pooed through his clothes and had to borrow something from his (female!) cousin of the same age!! I got my wish - he wore pink for a couple of hours til i got him home!

jetgirl · 27/11/2008 21:22

RG - please tell me you have photos to embarrass him with now he's a strapping lad!

RGPargy · 27/11/2008 22:13

haha!! Unfortunately not, jet

Hi just a quickie to say a big thank you to my MN fairy - Adam loves his books! And he has christened them by giving them a good chew. Animal.

Bit stressed, up till 1 o'clock last night marking and been observed this morning . I hate my job. Get yourself to docs and signed off LOM, waking in the wee small hours like that is not good at all.

littleoldme · 28/11/2008 14:47

Greedy-Hope the obs went well.
Getting signed off would be good but I've got to get to Easter. I want to leave evrything neat and tidy. Also, if i did get signed off I don;t think I could face going back - my boss would make life hell. You and I should meet up some time perhaps Xcape might be agood place ?

Greedygirl · 30/11/2008 11:16

Hiya LOM, meeting up would be lovely - in Jan perhaps? Xcape would be a good place. Will organise in the New Year. Tues, Wed are my days off, how about you? Your boss sounds like a troll btw. Only 3 weeks till the xmas break!

LK2boyzma · 30/11/2008 20:15

Hello all

I know I have been gone for far too long but I hope some people can remember me/us (Tyler and I)

I have been caught up with my local netmums and being back at work has not made it any easier BUT I thought I had to come and wish all the LOs a happy birthday (belated one for those who've already had theirs):O

Tyler's is tomorrow and cake and presents are here and waiting for the day.
He is all happy and trying to stand up but because he had an op on one of his hands, it stopping him from pulling himself up properly. He's also had weight gain problems and milk intolerance issues so we have had appointment upon appointment with different people at the hospital. We are getting there slowly but surely.

I hope you are all well and have fun at your LO's 1st birthdays

littleoldme · 30/11/2008 20:34

Greedy - My days off are Thurs and Fri. we could always make it half term.

Greedygirl · 30/11/2008 20:43

LOM - What on earth am I on about?! My days off are Wednesday, Thursday! So Thursdays should be fine.

Hi LK, sounds like you have had a bit of a rollercoaster year, glad you are getting there now. Happy birthday Tyler for tomorrow!

Well Adam got this toy train with plastic balls that come up through the chimney for his birthday and he has become obsessed with the balls, crawls around with a little plastic ball in each hand, tries to pull himself up with them, has to have them removed at tea/bath time much to his disgust! Odd boy. Lots of standing today. Eek.

Febes · 01/12/2008 20:36

Oh happy birthday to me!!! Actually tomorrow but getting in the mood. 32- cricky!!

RGPargy · 01/12/2008 20:55

Happy birthday for tomorrow Febes!

LOL @ crikey! Wish i was 32 again!
