Loopy - Blimey that sounds full on. No wonder you stopped work. DH and I had a long chat at the weekend and I feel much more relaxed about it all now. At the mo we could really do with the cash. If/when we have other DC I'll stop work then. It's made easier because T is fine with the childminder, they are genuinely fond of him and he seems really relaxed with them. I'd still rather be SAHM but the current situation is ok for the moment.

Febes · 03/11/2008 18:56

I am stopping work when DC2 comes along in May. I am doing 4 days a week now and its fine as our childminder is an angel and Anabel loves her. She sleeps and eats well there but I pay 750 per month so 2 children would be 1500 so after child care costs I would only earn about 500 per month (based on 4 days per week) which just doesn't seem worth it. My plan is to find some thing that could earn me a bit of money but doesn't need childcare not sure what yet but I will take full Mat pay before I start looking for something.

I have sad news a friend had her baby 2 months early on the weekend by emergency CS after not feeling the baby move for a while and the heart beat was fast. The baby is not moving now and docotrs have said it will be a miracle if she gets better as she has damage to her brain. I feel desparately sad for her them and just can't begin to understand what they must be going through.

littleoldme · 03/11/2008 19:49

Oh Febes - that's so sad

I've been ill for a couple of days so will email re the presents when I get my brain back.
I've been off sick today and slept till 11

Febes, as a mum of 2 children with brain damage, please pass my wishes to your friend.
How much brain has been damaged? Some babies have huge amounts of damage and have no outward signs, some have a small amount (like Ds1) and yet you can see they have a disability.
I hope I am not speaking out of term..

Febes · 03/11/2008 21:08

Sparkly- No that gives me hope for my friend. Thanks I'm not sure I haven't spoken to them tonight but I know that the baby girl isn't moving since birth except she moved her toe a bit. I don't what to do?? I think the baby was deprived of oxygen. the other awful thing is her husband was in SA for his brothers funeral so missed the birth. He arrived back today though. Her mum was with her during the weekend.

RGPargy · 03/11/2008 21:36

Loopy - you are "lucky" (?!) that you had the circumstances that dictated you not working any more!

Febes - what sad news Makes you realise how lucky we are doesn't it.

I've decided that for DD's birthday we're going to go to our local zoo park thing. My lunch girls are also going to be coming along, which will be nice. I might even use my babyhawk on the day to see if i can use it for longer than an hour as i've not really used it for very long. DD was whingey the other day and i had to get on with things so i stuck her in the hawk on my back and she was out like a light for at least 30 mins, bless her.

febes, Moving her toes is a good sign, some brain activity must be happening. A friend of mine had a very prem. baby, and she had a large amount of brain damage, they said she would be very disabled, the same little girl is running around now, yes she has Cerebral Palsy but she is ok. My DS1 has modarate CP and DD1 has mild CP. Dd1 was born at 31 weeks and suffered a brain bleed which caused her CP (she had a problem maintaining her o2 levels and her heart rate slowed a lot) Ds1 they have no idea what happened.

Even if your friend's baby is disabled, it doesn't change the fact that they have had a beautiful baby.

Pixiefish · 04/11/2008 07:41

Hi all. Just diving on quickly. It was Dd2's 1st birthday on Sturday- where has the year gone??????

She's not quite walking but no rush lol- I don't think she'll be that long but I'd rather she waited a bit and stayed my baby for longer

Febes · 04/11/2008 10:12

Thanks sparkly you are making me feel hope. They are taking the baby for an MRI scan today in a hospital in Hammersmith. They spent last night with the babyand had the priest there this morning.

jetgirl · 04/11/2008 10:58

Febes - how , especially has your friend's husband was away too. Sparkly - so good to hear the positive side from you, sometimes doctors will focus on the negative side won't they?

Loopy - I too am thinking of going cold turkey with the night feeding. William has a pssion for pasta, and is eating so well now that he can't be hungry at night, so I guess it's habit. I'm going to try the no-cry-sleep solution first, which takes longer than cold turkey, but would be kinder to DD who would otherwise be woken by William's crying/screaming!

Pixie - happy birthday to DD2!

Our bathroom is not yet finished which is why I've not been on mn for a while, the house is such a tip, and I haven't been able to get to the computer properly! However, the end is in sight and the bathroom is looking really goood.

Febes · 04/11/2008 19:12

The scan results weren't good and they have made the horrid decision to turn off the machines probably tomorrow. All kiss and cuddle and thank god for your babies tonight.

oh febes, thats so I am so sorry

Greedygirl · 05/11/2008 21:23

Febes - how heartbreaking . Today must have been horrendous.

Jetgirl - share your top no cry solutions with us. Adam has actually slept through a couple of nights but more by accident than design I think, I am not holding my breath.

Loopy - sounds like you have cracked it! Fingers crossed, touch wood.

RG - your birthday plan sounds lovely. We are going to have an open house one Saturday but on his actual birthday it will be just me, DH and DS and think we will go to the local park/petting zoo type thing and have a nice lunch somewhere. And lots of birthday kisses and cuddles obviously! Lucky boy.

littleoldme · 06/11/2008 14:20

Febes -

I've emailed everyone the present exchange details. Let me know if there are any probelms. Don't forget the ceiling price is a tenner X

Greedygirl · 06/11/2008 14:54

Got the email LOM. Thanks.

Have had a nightmare few days as our child minder has given us notice due to ill-health. Not very much choice of child care at such short notice and so it has really knocked me for six as Adam seemed pretty happy and settled there. Makes me want to blub every time I think about it! Ho hum, onwards and upwards.

RGPargy · 06/11/2008 15:07

Febes -

LOM - will check my emails when i get home tonight. How exciting!

Can i ask you for your opinions please ladies? I'm after a really nice little dress for Ellie to wear at her "party" which is the day after her birthday. Do you think THIS DRESS is tooooo much or do you think it'll look cute?? It's the little pink one i'm thinking about - the detailing is just so lovely! Be honest, i'm not easily bruised.

Greedy - what a bummer about your childcare!! Hope you find someone suitable soon.

Febes · 06/11/2008 15:34

Thanks for all your kind thoughts. Baby Teegan is an angel now and out of pain. We must all be thankful for our all darlings.
Thanks for the present exchange details will have to go on the hunt this weekend for a gift.
RG I think the dress is over the top but I love it and think you should go for it. Anabel has a fairy dress that she will wear. I think they'll look back at the photos and think they were lovely.

littleoldme · 06/11/2008 18:36

Greedy- grim news re your childcare. Hope you manage to sort it out.

RG - The dress isn't my cuppa but if you like it go for it.

Morning ladies!

I agree the dress is very OTT - i might have to have a rethink, especially after Loopy reminded me that my daughter actually crawls around on the floor and isn't quite into walking yet! haha!

OK so where can i get a cute but practical party not-so-overthetop dress from?!

hey everyone,
i hope your all ok,
tbh my head is battered today, we seem to be having a couple of terrible weeks with money etc, and things going wrong, and this week Raimee has been sick again with a high fever, and the doctor found a heart murmur. we took her back again today now her temp is down and it was still there so shes been referred to the cardiologist at alder hey. Im pretty sure it will be nothing as obv shes been fine at all her other checks, from what ive read the majority are nothing and the heart is healthy. theres just still that 1 per cent that im unsure, and so scared as shes so little. ive just emailed my lecturers as i feel so behind at uni having had two weeks off already when raimees been ill, and the appointments the same day as an exam so il have to do that at another point, but i feel like i sound like an idiot trying to explain why i didnt realise certain things had to be done because i missed the lecture it was explained in and dont know anyone to have been told about it as im now in the year below my year as i had maternity leave (if that makes sense)!
urgh sorry for my essay and i know i havent been on for ages, i decided to forgo the housework right now to come on here (a no-brainer really!) while raimee has her ever decreasing nap.
oh rg- i love monsoons little party dresses but they are pretty expensive sometimes i think. i also love mini mode in boots!
im sorry for coming in with my woes, but hope your all gud!
Sam xxx
