yeah it's very quiet on here!

rg what was the results of your dd's peanut allergy tests?

Greedygirl · 17/10/2008 12:50

Hi guys, v.quiet on here at the mo; you can tell that all our babes are moving around and keeping us on our toes now! Anyone still finding it hard leaving their LOs to go off to work. Silly question really, I don't suppose anyone really wants to leave their LOs. I hate Fridays cos he goes to my MIL who is v.lovely but lives miles away and I am always stressed out by the time I get him sorted and get to work. He was sick last night but just the once (don't think he liked his tea !) and seems ok this morning but I just wanted to stay with him and be overbearing!

Think I am going to speak to the HV about trying to wean him off bfeeding very gently and slowly as he seems to getting more dependent on it as time goes on rather than less dependent. Anyone else finding that? I don't mind but I must admit I was hoping he might self-wean by 12 months or at least be cutting down but he appears to have other ideas. He eats loads too!

I feel ready for a holiday, roll on half-term...

Loopy - how long are you planning on bfeeding for then? Long as it takes? DH actually said the other night "the sooner you stop bfeeding the better" cos Adam wanted to come to me rather than him !

Re the slings - I like the pink and purple one! Just how many slings do you have exactly?

RGPargy · 17/10/2008 14:45

His misdee!

Dont know the results yet because the first test "leaked" en route to the other hospital where they do the testing so i had to take DD back for another test. I wouldn't have minded so much but they told me to lay her down on this big bed - cue DD really crying and feeling not-very-safe-at-all-thank-you-very-much!! I dont know why they couldn't do it with her sitting on my lap like they did last time! I even told them that she sat on my lap but the doc insisted i put her on the bed.

Annnnnyway, still waiting to hear back about the results. I might ring them now actually.....

Greedy - How rotten of DH to say that!!

Loopy - They are both lovely! It's a tough choice!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 17/10/2008 14:48

Results STILL not in!

Febes · 17/10/2008 15:58

Loopy that Eva one is gorgeous. Do you think that one would be better than the Kari me one I was going to get. I like the weave fabric. Personally I would get the red cause it would go with me more but if I had 3 gorgeous girls like you I would be tempted for the pink stripy.

littleoldme · 17/10/2008 18:49

At last, some time to catch up.

Loopy - I love the slings. Get them both! We are coming down your way this weekend but it looks like we are probably going to be tied up with family stuff. Drop me a line at rebekah 50 morgan @yahoo . com and we'll see what we can sort.

Greedy - I hate leaving Tom. People say it gets easier but I disagree; once the cold hard reality of work kicks in leaving gorgeous child to go and teach shitty twunts all day seems even tougher. saying that though I'm really enjoying work at the mo - we get two weeks for half term YAY.

Hi Charming! T loves his book. The office page makes him laugh hysterically - wish I knew why!

RG- Nut allergy !!!! sounds worrying, what's the story?

Hi Febes >

Well last week I went and got personal shopped in Debenhams. I needed a wedding outfit and ended up with something fab and gorgeous. We had a massive changing room, tea and coffee, and the shopper did all the running around the shop for me. It was great fun - and very expensive.

RGPargy · 17/10/2008 22:11

LOM - I gave DD some peanut butter on toast a couple of months ago and she had a couple of little blister type marks around her mouth shortly after she'd eaten it. I didn't think that much of it really but thought i should get her tested for allergies just in case. I dont think it's anything major as she's had wholegrain/granary bread etc with no probs, although i think that could be made just with seeds so might not affect her.... ??? Still waiting for the results tho - she had the blood taken on 1st october FGS and we're STILL waiting!

Ooooo personal shopper!!! Out of interest, how much exactly DID it cost you??

OP posts:
littleoldme · 18/10/2008 08:40

Blimey, that's a long wait.
Well > I got this skirt, this camisole and shrug. I also bought this top, just for good measure.

I never spend money on clothes - but when I do I really do. When a personal shopper tells you you've got expensive taste it must be true!
The appointment was free and she stayed with me for two hours. She didn't put me under pressure to buy either.

Fortuantely I got paid £45 for a market reasearch on Monday so that eases the pain a little. Or maybe I'll just spend it on shoes...

Loopy- Thanks for the advice I'll think I'll stick to the Karime then for the start and then if I'm keen later get a woven one when LOs bigger.

Greedygirl · 18/10/2008 12:39

Lovely clothes LOM!

jetgirl · 18/10/2008 17:18

Hello!! William has been poorly - lots of nasty nappies if you get my drift, and sleeping terribly so I've been spending any time I do get to myself sleeping!! But - and here's the really exciting bit - William said Mama on Thursday when I went to collect him from nursery . When he saw me arrive he crawled to me and said 'mama'. it made my day, i can tell you!

Febes - hope you're better now, and well-rested.

Charming - so nice to have you back - glad to hear Sara is blooming!

Greedy - yes, it's still hard to leave them, especially as William has been under the weather recently. I'm getting freaked out by the idea that DD will be at school this time next year, and someone else will be spending such a signiciant amount of time with her. I will really miss when I'm at home with William.

LOM - very of your 2 week half-term. The personal shopper thing sounds fun, wish I had an excuse to do something like that! The clothes are lovely - really like the skirt.

RG - I hope it's not an allergy, and you get the results soon. It always amazes me that things like that take so long, when there could be something potentially dangerous going on.

littleoldme · 18/10/2008 19:42

Jet - What a clever little lad! Sorry to hear he's been poorly.

Don't be too jealous; we did go back on August the 28th.

littleoldme · 18/10/2008 23:26

I started my fist AIBU thread. NEVER again. Some people really need to get out more.

PoppyCoc · 18/10/2008 23:34

Hi everyone! I'm new to MN I'm probably a bit late to join in with this thread but I wondered if I could have some advice.

My dd ws born in the second week of November last year and shes not walking yet(she's just started cruising around the sofas) and shes not saying any words (just babble like rrraaa, baaaaa)

I feel like she is behind other babies her age, do you think she is? I'd really appreciate your honesty

RGPargy · 19/10/2008 11:39

LOM - i think i have to agree with you on the AIBU thread! I think it's ok to have a few things but not BAGS full, that's just greedy!!

Poppcoc - hello and welcome! We dont mind if you wanna join in - the more the merrier! As for DD, i think she sounds just about right to me! Everyone's kids develop at different rates and what one does at 8 months, another might not do til 10 months! Sofa cruising and babbling sounds perfectly normal to me.

OP posts:
Febes · 19/10/2008 12:20

Hi Popcroc and welcome DD is cruising and babbbling much like your DD so all very normal. She only just started to cruise the furniture last week she babbles all the time but no real words yet. All in there own sweet time I reckon.

Thanks everyone. I have a friend who had a dd at the same time and she has a way of making me feel like I'm doing something wrong as her dd is walking so thats good to hear

LOM - I also agree with RGPargy. A perk is one thing but whats the point in having the sale if you're going to take all the good stuff before it begins?

Greedygirl · 19/10/2008 19:59

Hi Poppycoc - my DS was born at the end of Nov 08 and has only just started crawling! His cousin who was born halloween the same year is walking independently. They are all sooooooooo different. Ignore your friend and enjoy your DD!

Off to check out this AIBU thread LOM. I once started a thread about in-laws and got crucified - eek !

Jet - what a gorgeous greeting! I bet William will miss his big sis too when the time comes for her to go to school.

littleoldme · 20/10/2008 09:28

Yeah - you know the AIBU thing. I wasn't hugely bothered, just annoyed that all the stuff I wanted had been grabbed. I think I was being a BIT ur- not that I'm going to admit it on there. Seem to have hit a nerve though.

Poppy - DS was born Dec 12th. He's getting frustrated that he can't crawl yet. Yesterday he tried to pull himself up on the cot bars and gave himself a bloody nose in the nano second I took my eyes off him. When the mums I know get in to competitive parenting I take great delight in telling them that DS picks his nose and once held on to his willy for 17 mins without letting go. As long as your dd is well fed and happy I'd try not to worry.

Greedy - Count down to half term. Enjoy when you get there X
