Callum has started taking steps too, just 3-4 at a time atm

Febes · 19/09/2008 17:38

Cricky!! Walking so soon, thats impressive. Anabel is pulling herself up on everything but freaks out if she's not holding on tight.

RGPargy · 19/09/2008 19:46

Ellie will slide herself down from my lap to the floor and will stand there (with me holding on to her hands of course!) but she's very wobbly and there's no way she'd be able to do it on her own just yet. I do think tho that she'll be walking before she's 1.

Hi every one >

This is the first time in ages I've had the chance to catch up. I'm back at work now which isn't as awful as i thought it would be. T is settled in at the childminders and life is just plodding along. It's nice not have any big things to think about for the first time in ages.

DH and I got a weekend away last week. It was great. We went hiking, drnak beer and stayed in very swanky hotel. It was good to do us thngs again.

T is on fab form. He's so happy and smiley and usually sleeping well. He doesn't have any teeth yet, nor is he crawling but what he lacks in development he makes for in general gorgeousness.

Loopy - Go DD !

jet - that happened to me last year. Isn't it just brilliant.
When T wakes up I give him water and he's usually thirsty. I think 12 hours with no fluid is a long time even if he is asleep.

Right better bugger off and do some work. Lots of love to one and all. X

Hey LOM we missed you (waves)

RGPargy · 20/09/2008 20:12

LOM!!!!

Deffo missed you!! I really should organise to come up for coffee and malteser cake! I've never been one for being all mouth so this really should get arranged with you and Choudru!

Hi everyone
Feel awful now, when I said the honeymoon is over didn't mean that I don't still drool over Adam and generally obsess about him, worship the ground his little gorgeous feet walk on etc just that maternity leave was over and I am tired, tired, tired!

Anyway, managed to have a vomit-free week last week but Adam still very clingy and feeding like mad on my days off so either feeling a bit insecure or having a growth spurt. Do you have growth spurts at 10 months?!

Jetgirl - great news re Ofsted! You see there is an advantage to being part-time! But I agree, work is not a chance to relax as advertised by various friends. And as for adult company - I spend most of my day with giddy teenage girls!

LOM - v.jealous re your weekend away, how gorgeous, good for you. Adam shows no signs of crawling yet (although he can usually get from A - B by bumshuffling and rolling) so walking is a loooonnng way off which is very obliging of him cos we haven't got any stairgates etc and it is one less thing to worry about for the time being.

RG - yes deffo come up and I'll come across from Hull, I would love to meet a few of you (well all of you but you know what I mean would be great if some of us could get together )

Must go and do some preparation for tomorrow grrrrr.

Ohhhh I feel all warm and fuzzy - I'm pleased to see you lot again too.

RG- It would be lovely to meet up sometime. Any excuse to eat cake ! Choudru is pretty tied at the mo as she's working full time - long story which I'll let her tell you.

Loopy- Glad you liked the biccies. you aren't loosing your marbles; the wedding is in Exeter on Oct 25th. Are you near there ?
Good one on the jobs. What will you be doing?

Greedy - Sorry you are feeling so snoozy. I'm finding work tough too. Particularly at moment as it's Ramadan which always makes the kids loopy. A month of not eating for 14 hours a day tends to mean their minds are anywhere other than Shakespeare!

Hi febes XXXXXXX

littleoldme · 22/09/2008 21:02

OMG Febes!!!! Have just caught up properly and found you've got yourself into trouble again. The heartiest of congratulations dear one XX

jetgirl · 22/09/2008 21:25

Hi LOM - long time no see, nice to have you back and thanks for the biccies . Nice to hear choudru's ok too. Your weekend away sounds lovely. We can't even contemplate that at the mo as William is so clingy - he screams when I'm not in the house, and won't be put to bed by anyone else, I just don't think it would be fair to inflict that on my parents!!

Loopy - sounds like you're being kept busy! I have to admit I shan't miss the Ofsted inspection in the slightest, but school is feeling fairly positive about it all and it should go well. I was helping colleagues after school today with their preparations so I feel less guilty about being at home enjoying myself!

My cousin had a baby boy last Friday - he arrived on his due date, what a good boy. I'm hoping for a trip to visit them soon, the photos of him are gorgeous and have made me quite broody

RGPargy · 22/09/2008 22:12

Greedy - Dont worry, we know you didn't mean it that way!

Loopy - DS walked at 14 months so i was expecting DD to be just as lazy. It seems however that she is intent on being on her legs as much as possible and absolutely LOVES to stand there holding on to my hands! Hope your jobs go well - what are you doing?

LOM - Excellent! We really must try and sort something out this time. Last time we spoke about it was in March or thereabouts wasn't it? Hope we hear from Choudru soon, she's been away for aaaaages!

Jet - congrats to your cousin. awwwww fresh babies are always so sweet!!

Callum stood up yesterday at the hospital (waiting for Ds1 to have physio) and walked!!! All the other mums gasped and one said 'he is far too small to do that' lol!! He is only supposed to be 10.5 months!!

Its his birthday on thursday My baby is 1!! [sob]

SparklyGothKat · 23/09/2008 19:19

oh he has learnt to clap too now

yes big grins when he does it. He loves doing 'Pat a cake' now lol!!

RGPargy · 24/09/2008 09:55

Sparkly - wow, cant believe he's a year old almost!! I love watching Ellie clap too - she's so pleased with herself when she does it!

Loopy - 25% discount at JL sounds great! Bumemr that it's so far away tho. you'll have to just make a day trip there and spent lots of money in one hit to make it worth the trip hehe

Nothing much to report here. Not sure if i mentioned it but DS has decided he wants to join the Army so i have to pick up his GCSE certificate from his old school today and then i think that's all he needs for his application. He can then take the BARB test (think that's what it's called) and go from there!

Have a good day everyone.

OP posts:
jetgirl · 24/09/2008 11:58

RG - wow, the army! Good to hear he's decided what he wants to do.

sparkly - how amazing, I bet you felt a very proud mummy when callum walked in front of other mummies

Loopy - would use be able to use the discount online? John Lewis online is great.

Do any of you have a playpen? I never bothered with one for DD, but now that William is mobile, and always going after DD's toys (and vice versa) I'm thinking abou tb getting one so I can let them play when I'm doing the housework. Also William is always bumping himself as he crawls around to find things to pull himself up on. What do you think?

RGPargy · 24/09/2008 12:28

Jet - If it puts your mind at rest while you have to do the housework then i would get one. I dont have one with DD but did with DS. If i need to nip to the loo or something or do something in the kitchen for a bit i will normally take DD with me and stick her in her walker so that she cant get under my feet etc. I haven't yet conquered the concept of housework upstairs with DD because we have no stairgates yet so it's not really doable unless DD is asleep during the day, which is practically a no-go these days! My bathroom is desperate for a scrub, but i think i'll have to wait for DP to come home so that i can do it tonight - unless by some miracle DD actually goes for a nap!!

Just a quick one as it's past my bed time. My friend sent me this. Dh and I have spent the last ten mins in hysterics. Hope it amuses you. The baby mop is my fave.

Febes · 25/09/2008 16:11

Happy Birthday Callum!! I can't believe one of our 'babes' is already one!!!
Anabel is still waking for 2 feeds in the night. I don't think she's teething. Maybe she's not feeding enough during the day because I'm at work. Its not too bad as I take her into bed and feed her and then she goes back to sleep straight away so its 10 mins at the most and I usually need the loo anyway!! Its killing me slowly though... Please tell me its only a phase and she will go back to sleeping through the night very soon.
RG- Scary army!! Good career though my brother was in the army for 5 years but NZ army doesn't usually get called up for battle.

Greedygirl · 25/09/2008 20:02

LOL LOM! I think the baby mop could save your problem re what to do with baby whilst doing the housework Jet!

Happy birthday Callum. Amazing to think that we were all waddling around this time last year with our LOs snuggled safely inside us.

And now you have another one tucked up Febes! How are you feeling? Adam is waking more frequently in the night since I went back to work and it is knackering isn't it? He doesn't take long to settle back either but I am worried when I hear lots of mums speaking about their LOs sleeping through. He is very clingy at the mo so don't want to go down the route of offering water etc until he is a bit more settled again.

RG - how do you feel re the army thing?

Well after months of rocking on all fours and bum-shuffling, Adam is finally crawling albeit very slowly and with plenty of tea-breaks! Took a video of him cralwing in his nappy tonight and it was a lovely mummy moment .

RGPargy · 25/09/2008 22:21

Happy Birthday Callum!! Where has the time gone!!

Greedy - Not quite sure how i feel about it really. I think it'll do him the world of good and it'll make him grow up a bit and force him into the real world, if that makes sense?! I dont want him going to battle tho, no way, but he seems determined that he wants to be an infantry soldier, which is even more scarier!

Glad that AJ is finally crawling! There's be no stopping him now. i couldn't believe how quickly Ellie took to crawling once she knew how to do it!

Greedygirl · 26/09/2008 19:29

Yes I think Ikwym RG, the army nursing core comes to speak to our learners every year and they make it sound fantastic and I think it is - if it wasn't for the small matter of having to go to war! Mind you my dad was in the army for over 30 years and never went into battle...

I'm glad AJ is crawling too because he was getting a bit frustrated but I'm having to rethink how I do everything e.g. having a shower in the mornings etc. He just used to sit on the bathroom floor with a pile of toys quite happily!

Going for a shower now and DH is putting an M&S thai curry in the microwave - we know how to have a good time !
