March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

Ooooh Ahh!!

Rosylily · 07/06/2008 18:56

I'm trying to ignore the children here, dd is drawing and the three boys are in a knotted heap of rough and tumbliness A pattern is emerging.....

dh once washed half the fridge...he went on about it so much I told him his medal and certificate were in the post

very excited about dr who even though it gave dd nightmares last week she can't wait to see it this week! oh well....trotting off to watch

laidbackinengland · 07/06/2008 19:22

Hello me ol' muckers. Life busy (I know, excuses, excuses) and have not seen this threaqd for a while - but I thought I would just pop in and say hello.

Amos is a cheeky monkey and is known in our household as 'the mountain goat' he is constantly balancing/climbing/abseiling on/off something and has no sense of danger at all. He's a lovely boy though and very squidgable.

Have also found out that I'm expecting DC4! Due end of Jan - so early days yet. No doubt will be another boy to add to my collection . All good fun though.

Still working 2 days a week as a self harm therapist and DH working 2 days a week - so lots of time to remain, as ever, laidback.

Love to all and the lovely babes.

Rosylily · 07/06/2008 20:12

fantastic laidback! I'm so delighted that you are having another!

hmm shanks is due any day now I do believe.

ooh it's lovely but so glad s'not me all residual broodiness has left my building!

Divastrop · 07/06/2008 20:19

hi laidback,and congratulations!

sponge-we figured we cant realistically think of moving untill 2010.the situation, well,i dont know.dh reckons dd1 is being a bit manipulative, and while theres no excuse for the others ganging up on her,he reckons alot of the 1-1 arguments are 50/50 and i shouldnt get involved.he was proved right yesterday when dd1 came in last night saying a girl had been nasty etc,but i had heard one of the unrelated adults outside shouting 'pack it in you's two!',so i went out to get the other side of the story and the woman who saw it all said 'they were both as bad as each other'

so feck knows.

i dont feel right atm,i feel 'numb' and emotionless and i dont like it

fitfox · 07/06/2008 21:03

Laidback Hi

Congrats!!

Diva - could that numbness be low level depression?

Divastrop · 07/06/2008 21:06

fox-i think its the antidepressants

TheBlonde · 07/06/2008 21:09

Laidback - Many congrats!

fitfox · 07/06/2008 21:26

Divahave you recently changed them?

Divastrop · 07/06/2008 21:29

no,still on prozac,for 3 months now.

fitfox · 08/06/2008 20:20

I've had a couple friends who had scarey reactions to prozac - made them very emotional and paranoid!

Do you think its the prozac then?

Rosylily · 09/06/2008 15:33

I dragged Hasan in for his mmr appointment today but it was a mistake appointment , too soon after his last jab.
He weighs 11 kilos.

Hv said that all her other 15-18 month olds today aren't walking yet apart from Hasan.

Any news shanks? I hope you have a nice calm and easy labour! May the force be with you!

I'm feeling annoyed with myself at the moment. Not getting anywhere fast. (must get off mumsnet for a start!)

kittywise · 09/06/2008 17:21

Rosy, you are in a time zone all of your own, Shanks gave birth AGES ago

That's really annoying re appt

Diva, hope you are feeling better

Rosylily · 09/06/2008 19:24

oops
sigh, oh dear everything's a blur at the moment
sorry Shanks!

Divastrop · 09/06/2008 20:59

rosy-i am the same.i am on auto-pilot now, just doing the basic tasks, have no idea whats going on around me or what planet i am on

i have made an appointment with te gp for tomorrow following a thread i started about the AD situation.

dd1 got home from school, said she didnt feel well and went to bed,so i tooker her temp and it was 38.3.i wonder if it has anything to do with sitting in the neighbours huge paddling pool all afternoon+evening with about 15 other kids yesterday

fitfox · 09/06/2008 21:21

Diva am on autopilot too and am sure I have low level depression - I just cannot face anything and the smallest tasks feel like climbing a mountain Let us know what GP says about your numbness. How are things with DH?

Rosy/Kitty - how are your "relationships" (I use the term loosely LOL)

evenhope · 09/06/2008 22:01

Congratulations Laidback

Rosy how Sort of thing I'd do.

I'm having a funny 5 minutes too. Not depressed as such but fed-up/ sad/ stressed out. I spent almost an hour this afternoon looking for DD's suncream (that we had to go out and buy because we couldn't find the original tube) and getting more and more angry. Had a nice trip out then had DS2 have a real go at me because I didn't pick him up from work at 3pm. He told DS3 what time he was finishing but no-one told me.

Took DD to the zoo. She slept for the first hour or so but woke up in time for the gibbons and gorillas and was entranced.

She went on a swing for the first time on Saturday and loved it. Will post pic to my profile.

kittywise · 10/06/2008 07:34

Sorry foxy, Diva and Rosy that you are all feeling a bit sad and spaced out.

I frequently feel spaced, I thought it was simply a mother's condition

Relationship is mainly crap but we are try our best to make it workable. Foxy, how are things with you and Dh?

I've been doing lots of energy healing work and had my first past life regression session yesterday! It really helps to start to put things into perspective.

Yes I know you didn't have me down as ' that type', but I am really!!!

Oh yes many congrats laidback, hope it all goes well.

Divastrop · 10/06/2008 12:23

just got back form the gp who said there is nothing they can do,ive tried every medication and my expectations of it are too high.i was honest with her for the first time ever about how i really am and she just said there was nothingshe can do.i had to phone dh too walk me home as im such a mess.i dont know what to do.

kittywise · 10/06/2008 13:16

Sorry to hear that Diva.

It sounds like you now need to try a different approach. I'm not sure what though. How about getting some books?

Divastrop · 10/06/2008 16:56

kitty-i started a ranty thread about it here

rather a silly thing to do though

sorry everyone,as you were

Piffle · 10/06/2008 20:35

Rosylily · 10/06/2008 22:12

Phew, everything's a bit mad here. Am v. tired.

Kitty you hippy! I like the sound of your past life regression stuff!

Piffle when I finish breastfeeding I'll also have comedy tits...spaniels ears! Much sympathy you must be very uncomfortable to contemplate surgery.
your kitchen will be gorgeous when it's all done I bet!

Foxy, things are okay with dh. Alternative, disfunctional but what the heck I do love the twit!

I am spaced out but I am generally happy and not depressed. Much sympathy with folks on the depression front, it's a horrible, horrible thing.

Piffle · 10/06/2008 22:18

I often feel quite numb non feeling and unmotivated. Even getting out of a chair seems like climbing Everest.
other days I bounce into life at 6am all organized and full of verve... Wish I knew in advance as its never convenient!!!
thankfully most pain has gone now incl the insidious depression inducing nerve pain. The relief is massive.
am doing some yoga in my spare time ie not often...
right once again gotta dash... Bedtime!

fitfox · 11/06/2008 14:02

Not great here but OK and the kids need their Dad me thinks..

LOL at Spaniel's ears!!!

Mine are 38gso more Elephant ears!

Diva - your GP sounds like a lazy so and so!

Piffle - very impressed with Mighty Finn. He has you well trained then?
