Our solution to stained carpets is to move house

Twiglett · 08/01/2005 09:08

Poor DS ... poor poor DS

His favourite thing in the world is his lego (well its duplo .. but he has a mountain of the stuff .. all inherited) .. he builds convoluted machines and buildings that spread over half the carpet (of a fairly large loungs)

poor poor DS

DD's favourite game is making her way across the entire carpet .. lying with her face in the middle of it all and turning into ...

... dah dah DAAAAAAAhh

DD the destructor

to anguished howls through clenched teeth of 'Oh Maddy' ..

Casmie · 08/01/2005 09:38

LOL helsy - it's been considered, but after the last move, never ever ever again.

Twiglett - awwwww poor ds!

Prufrock · 08/01/2005 13:16

amn - just wrote long message and lost it. Oh Well - in short

Happy Birthdays, sympathies and welcome

DS can sit, stand and get on knees, but dives into carpet at every opportunity

My nipples hurt a lot, so down to 2 feeds a day

(My I was long-winded first time around)

Casmie · 08/01/2005 13:17

LOL prufrock.

spots · 08/01/2005 16:11

wow casmie, that'll take a bit of getting used to! Nice name tho... are we allowed to know its origins??

am in good mood just been to TKMaxx.

Casmie · 08/01/2005 16:24

Like to keep you on your toes

It's the very first internet nickname I ever used back in the distant days of 1992.

I had to think of a name quickly and as an 18th birthday present I'd been given one of those "A Star Has Been Named After You" certificates (although why anyone would want to name a star Georgina is anyone's guess - but at least it was a fairly insignificant star... just don't tell me if it goes supernova, okay?!). It was in the constellation Cassiopeia.

Tried to use "Cassie" as a nick, but someone had already taken it on IRC so I changed one letter and it became Casmie. The rest is (a very sordid) history

SusiS · 09/01/2005 09:28

hello hello hellooooooo
we are back!!! finally!!
don't get me wrong, we had a lovely time in vienna, just very stressfull
and home is still the best!

aaaaanyways
first things first
happy birthday to kbaby, egypt and linnet!!!!!
and no, 30 doesn't hurt

where to begin with you busy lot
helsy: we moved when ds was 1 month; well, it was hard since dp and I did it alone! and don't you think we did anything on the new house yet; just the necessary things to be comfy

spots: commune sounds tempting! but what with all them bad things lo's learnt and would pass on - but drink sounds great

egypt: keep going girl! you'll find a way to get your dd through the night without feeding!!!

and ds is in forward facing carseat for ages now! well he got too big for the other one (2 in 1) and was much happier once he was in the big one! and now he can see us and we have this little mirror clipped on so we can see him too

kbaby: did i read "next baby"??? is there something you'd like to tell us

cat: "whispering behind locked doors" - ds WAS an angel! - OMG, you all know what will happen! he'll turn into a monsterrrrrrrr

oh and welcome gg

SusiS · 09/01/2005 09:51

oh and casmie: nice change! - might inspire me
hipp twigg: oh yes, pood ds!

sick baby? we tried moving and the new house has got carpets only in the lounge downstairs. but white patches all over
but i have to say ds used to be sick loaaaaaaads and it does get better. well, he has only 2 bottles now. carpet cleaner sounds good to me - casmie: i'll be watching you

SusiS · 09/01/2005 10:18

just a few words about holidays and ds!
where to start: family was very happy to see us. and every day we went to see someone else. most of the time we spent with my older sister and her family - and somehow she was under the impression we were starving! we are wellfed now
lucas was just brilliant! he smiled at everybody and the more people around the better! flights went well (even the one back to uk, when i was alone with ds) - so might do it soon again!
sleeping was no problem whatsoever. got a travelcot - well, we had to put him in the hall - but was the only room dark and quiet - he kept sleeping through the night and had all his day naps!
eating: he had his usual 2 bottles; even with diff formula (i was not impressed with it though, didn't dissolve properly and there were always lumps left) - and 3 meals as normal with the odd jar!
xmas was very nice, we were 15 people at my sisters place and we had a proper austrian xmas! with everybody waiting in the hall untill the christkind (our version of santa) finishes off and flies away - then the bell rings and we are allowed to enter - all lights out but the ones on the tree. lucas was particularly amazed by the sparklers - then we sang a few songs and finally it was present time!!!!
26th we met at my sisters again, and my brother came too with family (he lives 2hrs away from vienna) - so were even more (18)
and new years eve we spent at - have a guess - my sisters! they just wanted to see us as often as possible - traditional again! lots to eat played some games to stay awake till midnight - then champagne and exchange "lucky things" and then we did "pour led" (well, you heat up led and pour the melted led into cold water; the new shape should foretell the future for the next year) - i had sort of a statue of liberty, so we'll go to new york next year

and lucas learnt so many new things to do!!!
he waves byebye, and claps his hands and talks all day - my bil tried to teach him to say michael (bil's name) i had a very serious discussion with lucas then. that it's better for him not to say michael as his first word - we might disown him

SusiS · 09/01/2005 10:19

oops, i had a really short msg and now that came out

SusiS · 09/01/2005 10:21

oh oh ohhhhh and ds got 4 new teeth over the last 3 weeks!!!!!
we are on 8 now

SusiS · 09/01/2005 10:25

ohhh and i completly forgot: had my mum looking after lucas for an afternoon - was our first time without lo!!!!!!!!!!
after 2 hours i wanted to go back but we were out playing pool with my sister and bil though couldn't really leave!
another 3 hours later we finally drove home. and ds was having fun with his nanny all the time

kbaby · 09/01/2005 11:34

Susis sounds as if you had a brill but busy time.

Linnett, nice to hear from you hope you have a good birthday.

We have white spots on our carpet also. It did start out as a lovely cream looking carpet but is now grubby and horrible. We tend to get a crapet cleaner twice a year but I think its going to go soon. Cream just isnt practical.
On the 'next baby front' yes I would like to announce that I am 6 weeks pregnant.

Ha Ha Fooled you all. Not bloody likely. I need sex for that bit and certaintly dont have the energy. Bed is for sleeping We have decided to try again this summer though. For a baby that is not just sex. Ive dedcided that I would prefer a 2 - 2 1/2 year gap and that it would be better to get the baby stages over with sooner. Therefore in oredre to get a 2 year gap I need to get pregnant this summer. Frightening isnt it.

Egypt I cant remember when your going to prague, Is it next weekend?

kbaby · 09/01/2005 11:36

On a non baby related thing. How much should a wedding cake cost. Trying to sort one out but ive only had 1 quote so far which was 250.00 I dont know if this is average or not.

Ta

Casmie · 09/01/2005 12:02

Gawd kbaby, you had me going there with the pregnant thing!!!

Yes, I will let you all know how the carpet cleaner goes. We have beige carpets too, which may not be practical from a cleaning point of view, but from making a small house look less cluttered point of view, it's ideal (and that was our rationale for white sofas too.... )

Bozza · 09/01/2005 12:09

Glad you've explained that Georgina - had been reading posts from Casmie without realising it was you. Susi sounds like you had a brill time and lucas was great for you.

Went out last night with DH (first time together at night since August)to a leaving party for his golfing friend who is moving to France and my neighbour babysat. Although I had put both children to bed before we went so not hard for her - she just came armed with loads of Sex & the City DVDs! and we were back by at about 11.20. DD woke at 3 and although she grumbled for a while didn't properly cry and so I didn't end up going to her - nearly did but had to go the loo first and then she went quiet. Then she woke for milk at 6.30 and went back to sleep until 8.30 am . And DS slept until 8.05 am more so latest sleep since DD was born. Nice one.

Kbaby my Mum made my wedding cake and my Dad iced it so I'm not much help. Would have thought £250 was fairly OK though TBH.

cat82 · 09/01/2005 19:41

Forgive me for the terrible language everyone, but i need to vent and since i am among freinds here goes: shit shit shit shit shit.

I may have tested to early last month, turns out my suspicions are correct and i am indeed pg. Shit.

After days in thought dp (who has been thourahly wonderful and supportive since i found out) and i have come to the conclusion that i am to fragile in the mind department to continue. I feel absoutly bloody awful, horrible, stupid and downright disgusted with myself. I have no idea what went wrong.

Anyway so there we are. I'm making the appointment tomorrow, after seeing a very unpleasant doctor on friday who gave me a really horrible look when i told him my desicion, and then went on to inform me of women he'd seen who after having this done wanted children later and couldn't have them, or plunged into the depths of despair and regretted it for the rest of their lives, which made me feel fabulous naturally.

please don't yell at me

Bugger.

Casmie · 09/01/2005 20:11

Have already said it all on MSN (and still doing so, LOL) but just wanted to post more hugs and to remind you that if you want me there for any appointments let me know and I'll do my utmost to arrange childcare and be there for you.

xxx

helsy · 09/01/2005 21:06

Hope you'll be ok cat82, obviously a really hard decision to take, and your Dr. doesn't sound too helpful. Thinking of you.

SusiS · 10/01/2005 08:58

morning everybody!
omg cat, are you allright? do you need company?
never an easy decision! nice that dp is understanding and helpfull! silly doc - don't listen to him, you know best what is best for your family!

Prufrock · 10/01/2005 10:18

Oh cat you poor thing - and what a hateful doctor.

If it makes you feel any better you have made exactly the choice I would have, and nobody here is going to judge you for it. Seriously, do you want company - dd is in nursery all day today and tomorrow so ds and I could easily come up and hold your hand in the appointment and stick up for you with any horrid doctors.

spots · 10/01/2005 11:08

Cat, many hugs. {{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}. You are being very brave to take a decision about this at all. I suspect it would be quite normal just to pretend it wasn't happening. I think you are being very grownup and actually rather noble... Hope you and dp get to the end of the procedure feeling all in one piece. Such bad luck...and really that's all it is but that can make a lot of difference to the world. xxxxxx

spots · 10/01/2005 11:10

SO GLAD that dp is helping you in this. Two is a good strong number!

cat82 · 10/01/2005 12:53

Hi everyone,

Well the appointment for the precedure is made for next monday. One week today this will be over, and i feel so relieved. Thanks to the amazing generosity of a wondeful person i'm going privatly so thankfully it will be all over sooner.

Thank you all for your support, if any good thing has come out of this, it is simply that it's confirmed my suspisions that there really are some lovely, freindly unjudgmental people in the world. I am so happy i have some of the best crowd as freinds.

Thank you all so much, again.

Lots of love
