ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

Oh God Fairy, Poor you and DS! How awful for you both. {{{{hugs}}}}} you are not a bd mum, it could have happened to anyone of us.

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 19:25

Thanks SG. I still fell really teary about it. They really are resilient things but I'm finding it hard not to think what might have happened.

andiem · 30/04/2008 19:26

fairy you poor thing that must have been so scary so pleased he is ok we can all get distracted for a moment especially since you have two littlies

andiem · 30/04/2008 19:30

sg I have ordered this and this

foxythesnowfox · 30/04/2008 19:37

{{{hugs}}} Fairy, and a hot, sweet tea. He is OK, babies don't tense up so do less damage. You reminded me that DS2 once did headfirst down the stairs. Only long-term damage done is that he is barking mad

seriously, it is scary, but he is fine. You, however, need some wine.

lilQuidditchKel · 30/04/2008 19:48

oh god Fairy. I so know just how you feel. I think if we are honest, nearly all of us have been in that situation. DD fell off our bed whilst we were on holiday. Why did I put her on the bed? I never do at home! Well she wiggled right off of it, onto a marble floor. The guilt was absolutely horrific. Her nose bled. I seriously thought I'd damaged her for life. Thank the gods above these babies are more resilient than we are...! Big HUGS!!

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 19:49

Thanks Foxy and Andiem. A G&T is definitely on the agenda. The clothes look lovely Andiem.

foxythesnowfox · 30/04/2008 19:49

How are you feeling today Lilkel?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/04/2008 19:49

Farking hell!

I come back on to catch up and there is too much talking...I can't keep up these days!

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 19:50

Thanks Kel. It does make me feel better to hear that other people's lo's have been in the wars as well and are ok. Motherhood just seems like one long guilt-trip sometimes.

andiem · 30/04/2008 19:55

fairy ds2 fell out of the bed the other night when I was asleep was co sleeping and dh was away and he must have just rolled and rolled I only woke up because I heard the bump he was fine

foxythesnowfox · 30/04/2008 20:01

anyone watching Corrie?

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 20:02

No, I read that it was going to be a sad one so decided that i couldn't bear to watch. Was it awful?

foxythesnowfox · 30/04/2008 20:04

I'll admit to a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/04/2008 20:12

Right, I didn't get very far, but hope everyone is ok!

Daisy, is your dd ok now?

Fairy, I can completely sympathise. The first time my ds climbed the stairs I nearly passed out with terror and he didn't even fall down! You poor thing, you must have shat yourself! My ds is always covered in cuts and bruises. Yesterday he fell out of the front door, headfirst onto the path. He has a huge graze on his nose and forehead. Wouldn't have been so bad, but we had his 8 month check today and I was worried about what the hv would say! Luckily he was a complete mentalist when we were there, so she could see that it was all self inflicted injuries!

We are all well. Dd had her first afternoon at preschool today. We were both in tears when I left her, but she was fine after I'd gone and had a lovely time. She is all grown up now and it makes me !

Ds is properly walking now, he has gone from walking a max of 6-7 steps between furniture to practically running across the room in the past week. He looks so funny. He is growing up far too quickly and I just feel like it is passing me by.

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 20:15

Thanks holly. I know what you mean about them growing up so quickly. In one way, I feel a bit like the babytime is passing me by too fast but I also love the fact that he toddles around after me rather than me having to lug him everywhere, as he is Sooooo heavy.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/04/2008 20:19

I know fairy, I have a serious shoulder injury. It really fucking hurts. I'm sure it is from pushing the p&t around with my two great big lumps in. It is really heavy! How heavy is your "little" man now? Ds was weighed today and he is 25lb 2oz! I don't know how, he barely eats anything and is so active. Must be all the bmilk he consumes!

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 20:21

fairy {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} to you. I'm glad DS is alright, but how are you? You must be in shock still!

You'll get nothing but sympathy from me as DS did the same when he was about 15 months. I took him to A&E though as he banged his head on the stair post at the bottom. Xrays were all fine though, and the paed told me that they are very bouncy at that age!

DD seems much perkier this evening, but still objecting to her night time bottle, but probably because we had tea late......and i only gave them soup for tea as I am in too much pain to cook. Definately going to the doctors tomorrow. I just wish there was something I could do to get a bt of respite from it in the meantime....painkillers only had a mild numbing effect and it was back again after an hour. I moved suddenly earlier and thought I was going to throw up it's so bad.

this last week has been a farking nightmare

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 20:23

holly, you must have gold top in there! DD isn't even 20lbs yet. she was 8.8kg when they weighed her last week at the hospital

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 20:26

I'm not sure what he weighs now. He was 22lb at his 8 months check. Tbh he doesn't feel that much lighter than DD. He is 'solid'

back Daisy. I'm not too bad. Dh has just gone out for fish & chips because I couldn't face cooking. It sounds like you need physio/chiroprac/osteopath. Would your Gp refer you, do you think? Does applying heat or cold help? I use one of those wheat pillows that you heat in the microwave, when I have a bad neck or back. Not a miracle cure, obviously, but it does seem to ease it a bit. I really hope it gets better soon.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/04/2008 20:26

Oh dear daisy whassup? I didn't get that far in my catching up. Are you ok?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 30/04/2008 20:28

I think my dd is just over 35lbs fairy, so there is not that much in it! They'll be the same size soon and everyone will think I have twins!

justbeme · 30/04/2008 20:38

Hugs to Fairy, Daisy anyone else??
My DD1 fell down the stairs too Fairy when she was little - it was like it happened in slow motion as she tumbled over and over - horrible - but all was fine.

Jammy - L isnt crawling yet either.

We've got our 3rd tooth today!!! Does teething make their nappies smell more of ammonia - in the mornings at the mo - her washables smell awful - like theyre 3 days old!!

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 20:40

Thanks JBM. Teething definitely seems to make DS's nappies vinegary and generally more stinky and loose than normal.

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 20:40

I think I might have whiplash

I got slammed in the back of the head by my handbag, which was launched across the kitchen at full throttle by DH on Sunday (to be fair he was only throwing it back at me , but his aim is better). Sounds stupid and quite funny looking back at it, but it was a very heated argument......obviously. Anyway, my neck was stiff on Monday morning a bit, wasn't too bad yesterday and then today I can't move. My spine feels really sore when I touch it and the muscles are on fire and I have a blinding headache as well. I feel like shit , but it serves me right for chucking things at him I suppose. I never ever manage to hit the fecker though.
