ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

yooooohooooo baby sputnik.. there'll be no stopping him now

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 15:01

so is the jamlet the last one to crawl then?

HellHathNoFury · 30/04/2008 15:08

Jammy I wouldn't be too worried - we have a 'friend' who's DS has just turned 1 and is only just moving on from commando crawl, plus there are a few babies at nursery who are older than ours and are still only just starting to crawl.

Although - I feel somewhat smug as when I met this 'friend' a few months ago for lunch she made me feel like shit about how I wasn't BF'ing, and didn't join NCT, and went back to work too soon and DS will be traumatised, and how I was encouraging poor eating habits etc... and now DS has reached all milestones before her, settled into nursery better and is not a fussy eater vs her DS who won't eat anything except cheerios.

HA. I feel better now.

Daisy - yes DH knows and is more than happy with it all.

Sputnik · 30/04/2008 15:11

DD didn't crawl til 1, so I wasn't expecting it.
LOL at the cheerios!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 15:14

Not too worried really Fury, she can get about most of the time one way or other.

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 15:55

lol fury . clever DS!

jammy, I think if they can get about happily in whatever way they can, then they've less incentive to crawl......which is why DD dragged herself around for sooooooo long.

foxythesnowfox · 30/04/2008 16:01

Well done baby Sputnik! get your stairgates ready

What's the magazine Fury? Am very excited for you.

Daisy, just enjoy it maaaaaaaan.

Jammy, perhaps he was her fourth

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 16:04

just got bloody saoked to the skin on the school run. It was sunny when we set off, it started raining just as we got out of the school gates, and was coming down in buckets. Lovely though my cord boden "raincoat" is, waterproof it certainly isn't!

effect of the drugs is wearing off now! 'twas nice while it lasted though and i can see why people get addicted to strong painkillers if that's the effect they have!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 16:06

What am I like? Jamlet has been whingy etc for ages, and I'd tried cuddles, BF, teething gel, was considering calpol and then I suddenly had a thought. One nappy change later and she's a much happier girl But why didn't I think of it sooner? She was soaking, poor thing.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 16:10

I had some strong painkillers a few years ago when I had an ovarian cyst, Daisy. I hated the feeling when I was taking them. Mind, it was amusing when I had to take some before our work Xmas lunch. I was totally out of it and ended up sitting on the big bosses table and wittered on and on inanely all through the meal . The night I accidentally (yes, truly accidenetally) OD'd on ibuprofen was nice though. That was a nice trippy feeling. I shouldn't have driven home though .

Sputnik · 30/04/2008 16:11

Ha, no stairs in our house!

foxythesnowfox · 30/04/2008 16:20

DS2 didn't crawl until 11/12 months.

DD1 was walking by now though.

Sputnik · 30/04/2008 17:28

I've just realised I'll be in the UK a week tomorrow
Hope we have decent weather.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 17:41

whereabouts in the uk?

Sputnik · 30/04/2008 17:54

Abergavenny (South Wales)

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 18:58

It might be nice elsewhere sputnik, but tis Wales you're talking aboout

lol jammy, often the simple solution is the one that works!

DD has perked up a bit this afternoon. We are still having chicken curry poos though.

DS said earlier....ew mum DDs poo looks like korma chicken. then in the next breath...Can we have curry for tea tonight? nice to see he isn't put off by it.

anyway off to get the DCs in bed

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 19:07

OK, work night for me and then time with DH. So catch up with you all tomorrow. Have a nice evening everyone.

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 19:08

Just got an email from boden...there are some fantastic bargains to be had in the sale......some things are up to 80% off. these trousers look nice......and these!

Seansgirlthesequel · 30/04/2008 19:12

Jammy, Baby SG not crawling either, he gets into position with one leg stuck under him, manages to free it and then falls flat on tummy...... he gets cross if I try and help... DD was crawling like a demon by now .... and she walked at 14 months.

Hoping for good weather Sputnik, but its not looking good at the moment...'slashing' it I think I would say at the minute.

Fury....whaey really exciting, really want to get the mag...

Enjoy the niccccccccccceeeeeeeee experience Daisy while you can....think I'd well with some DS been very whingy this afternoon. I just had to walk away several times as nothing seemed to please

Right must go and do our WWs dinner - god I am so bloody hungry...... I could eat a chair leg....

lilQuidditchKel · 30/04/2008 19:12

Oooh I could spend 1000s on lovely Boden clothes. sigh. especially the kids' stuff. must win lottery first

Seansgirlthesequel · 30/04/2008 19:13

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 19:18

no need in the sale lilekl....the prices are almost, well, normal! not much in baby though!

Seansgirlthesequel · 30/04/2008 19:18

Don't you just hate it when you've just paid full price for something......

humph!

FrazzledFairyFay · 30/04/2008 19:19

And the worst mummy of the year award goes to me. I'm lucky that i still have 2 DCs tonight.

DS fell down the stairs today, top to bottom. I had left the stairgate open because I'd run up there with him to do a quick clea up and clothes change as he was covered in poo from a particularly explosive nappy. I didn't intend to put him down and had my hands full so left the stairgate open and DD on the sofa watching CBeebies. DD actually followed me up to do a poo and then yelled at me from the bathroom. I finished re-dressing DS, put him down in her room to play for a second and went to deal with her, forgetting the stairgate. He followed me and I turned around to see him disappearing down the stairs head-first. He sort of bounced down them, did a full head over heels, etc and landed in a heap at the bottom. It was awful. I have never been so scared in my whole life, I screamed and screamed and he just sat up at the bottom and burst into tears. Less than five mins later he was happily playing again while I was sat on my neighbours sofa bawling. I called the docs and they told me to just keep an eye on him for 24 hours because other than a tiny bruise above his eyebrow he is totally fine, no bruises, no funny vision, eating fine, no vomiting, not lethargic, moving normally, not cranky, no obvious pain, etc. In fact he has today mastered the art of standing from a sitting position by pushing up off the floor rather than pulling himself up on something so he must be ok!

When I saw him fall, particularly when he went head over heels, I honestly thought I'd lost him and it was horrendous. Daisy, I now know a bit of how you must have felt last week when DD was so poorly.

I wasn't sure whether to post this because I don't want you all to think I'm completely incompetent but I thought I should, even if only to remind everyone to ALWAYS close your stairgates even if, like me, you don't plan on putting the lo down while you are upstairs - because you just don't know what could happen.

Seansgirlthesequel · 30/04/2008 19:19

But have seen some stuff for DH on the plus side and DD too......
