ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

I can imagine that you are at the end of your rope .
I don't really have any practical advice. That HV doesn't sound very helpful. What about talking to a GP?

Izzybel · 29/04/2008 22:12

Right I'm off to bed. Dp is complaining. Night all xx

justbeme · 29/04/2008 22:24

Evening (whoevers left!)

Sending get well vibes to everyone who is waiting on results/feeling down etc

Natty - I feel for you - I hated "the terrible twos". It sounds like he's really frustrated and cant express himself. My friend used to hold her son really tight when he was having a paddy until he'd calmed down. My HV talked to a child pyschologist about my DD1 - (she was biting and being horrible to other children) - and I had to put her on a chair facing away from everyone for 2minutes and then explain why I did what I did. (all that time holding her and just saying no from behind until she calmed down).
Obviously the manuals all say to try and over praise when they do something good and the bad behaviour will lessen - but its VERY tiring isnt it???
Why dont you start a thread under behaviour (I think).

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 07:53

Morning all.

Big to everyone I think. SOunds like there are enough problems around to warrant hugs to everyone

Natty, no practical advice I'm afraid, but sounds like a right pain. Hope you get some help/advice soon and things calm down.

Bumper, good that your DH is finding out what it can be like, and WELL DONE to you for having sympathy and getting ice cream

Foxy, as others have said, don't feel bad. You are a great mum. But we all lose it occasionally, and while smacking may not be ideal, an occasional one isn't the end of the world.

MHC - well done on finishing the essays. No, DS may not be impressed by it, but you can still give him a great birthday - possibly more so because you can truly concentrate on him and his day instead of having nagging thoughts about essays in the back of your mind.

Sorry for those with poorly DCs, or with grumbles with DHs/DPs. And sorry for going awol in a rush last night. But things have been getting a bit strained here too. So we made a real effort last night and things were a lot nicer. Not magically fixed all of a sudden, but a start.

andiem · 30/04/2008 09:30

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 11:45

morning. DD still got a temp and clingy/whingy . Spoke to DH, he is going to call work for me tomorrow and let them know what's going on. I just can't bring myself to make the call; it makes me fell physically sick just thinking about it, then I get into a right old state.

I can't move my neck this morning so am drugged up with co-codamol. As soon asD is asleep I'm off to bed.

Natty, sorry to hear about your DS. You said before he was a late talker, do you think it could be frustration? The jigsaw thing sounds like he is getting frustrated because he knows how it should look, but he's ovbiously not getting it right. I'm not sure what the solution is though. I know when DS went through this, we only had a few mega tantrums. I used to leave him in the living room and go into the kitchen till he'd calmed down, as me being there seemed to make him worse. hugs to you anyway, it sounds like hard work.

norty, is she teething? have an ear infection? if no to those, then she might have just twigged that she can influence her wrld a bit more. She'll probably settle down a bit when she realises it isn't going to get her picked up.

mhc and sputnik, I hope your DCs are better this morning.

now i started this post about an hour ago, so no doubt i've missed a few things off.

Blimey, I've been awol for a few days and sounds like everyone having a bad time one way or another. ((((hugs)))) to everyone with poorly, unsettled DCs and eveyone with DH/DP strained relations. Strangely the Sg household seems ok in all departments at mo spoken to soon I wonder? Sorry its taken me so long to skim read that I'm running out of time for DS wakes up. Will try to be back later this pm (think theres nothing on telly). Its so nice and cosy on this thread, I just ventured onto a AIBU thread... wow scary slangy, bitchy stuff can't be doing with it!

HI MHC see DSs our celebrating the same birthday! Little treasures!

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 13:10

well done on finishing the essays mhc. Are these for the BFC course?

hey SG

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 13:24

Afternoon all.

I ended up with 2 babies this morning. A little boy a bit younger than the jamlet was crying and as his mum didn't seem in a hurry to come see to him I ended up with him on one knee and the jamlet on the other giving them both a cuddle (she was being a bit clingy because she was tired too). It was quite nice but I was a bit at the mother though, or am i being harsh?

HellHathNoFury · 30/04/2008 14:05

afternoon all

am very tired - self inflicted, went out drinking and pubbing last night with work buddies and got home about 1am at which point I had the munchies then ate a load of fudge brownies. Then was up at 5 for work.

Had a good time though.
Same again next week, I have 2 parties to attend on the same night, eek!

DS is well at last and back to his usual lovely chirpy self. He is now walking pretty much exclusively which is adorable until he tries running/ jumping, where he invariably face plants and hurts himself.

I have a photographer coming round to take some photos of me for a magazine article. I think my life is a bit odd right now.

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 14:23

oooh, fury, is it the one about relationships and work? sounds v exciting and you must tell us what issue/magazine it is so we can all go out and buy a copy!

Glad DS is better. DD is trying the "run before you can walk" thing....drives me potty as she invariably falls over. DS keeps on trying to help her walk as well, and stands behind her holding her hands, she runs, falls over, he lands on top of her, she cries....and so on all evening.

jammy, he is maybe just a whingy baby and she was taking the opportunity to have a break from it for a bit. you obviously must look very trustworthy. A bit odd though. I think I would've taken him over and said "oh, he needs his mum"

I'm in agony. Neck constantly sore and I get flashing white rods of pain when I move my head. I think I need --to be put down a doctor.

HellHathNoFury · 30/04/2008 14:32

Sorry to hear about your pains Daisy, you are really going through it.

Yes Daisy that's the one, the lady chose me for the article. She's lovely, the interview is tonight.

I just found THIS - shows the cheapest petrol stations in your area. Well worth looking at.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 14:38

Sounds exciting Fury. You must let us all know which mag.

Maybe Daisy. Glad I look trustworthy though

HellHathNoFury · 30/04/2008 14:46

is it home time yet?

zzzzzz

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 14:50

lol fury; how does your DH feel about it? will he be in the photos too (you met him at work, right?), or are you not talking about him?

lackaDAISYcal · 30/04/2008 14:52

i have taken two co-codamol...pain now manageable but I feel stoned as a stoned thing on free drugs day. Hospital said they were OK to take, but surely this can't be good for junior? I have to drive in a bit as well.....to go and book DSs birthday party or he will be divorcing me as a parent.

Sputnik · 30/04/2008 14:53

OMG Baby Sputnik has mastered forward locomotion!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 30/04/2008 14:54

yay!!!!!!! for baby sputnik
