ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?
  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?
  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

Oh, fury, how awful for you all . Poor DS, was it a febrile convulsion? I hope he picks up soon, the poor wee mite.

hugs to you all xx

lackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2008 18:34

Is he still in the hospital?

Report
HellHathNoFury · 20/04/2008 18:36

hmmm no - (I just looked up a febrile convulsion)
He didn't go stiff or anything, just got grizzlier and grizzlier over the last few days and ending up at 5 am this morning with him just pouring with sweat and moaning.
He also couldn't seem to move his legs yesterday and this morning but that has improved a bit.
Paed reckons it's a reaction to the antibiotics for the chest infection and just to keep him drugged and sit it out. Needless to say I won't be going to work tomorrow.

lackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2008 18:43

Aw fury, it's horrible watching them being so ill. Take it easy and phone an ambulance if you feel he's getting any worse (although I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that)

Have you got anyone locally who can sit with him so that you and DH can get some rest? (probably another stupid thing to say as I can't inagine you want to leave his side)

{{hugs}} for you all Fury....I know how worrying fevers can be....I found that 3 hourly paracetamol / ibuprofen really put my mind at rest and leaving them only in a nappy cuts down on the washing....

Hope you all feel better soon x

OK, I am confused. I get back from the weekend, totally exhausted, and can't even tell which thread I ought to be reading to catch up! Is this the right one?

Got to get the Jamlet to bed soon, and unpack and get ready for work and nursery tomorrow and get some tea and catch up with DH a bit, and then I can catch up with you lot, so may be back later, or may be tomorrow.

Thanks for the well wishes all xx
It's been a really rough few days, esp as I have been struggling with a few bouts of depression in the last few weeks as well. I haven't had it since I was 18, I feel so hopeless and lonely and invisible. Wtf is going on?!

But we are coping - LMN, I know you have really been struggling with it recently as well - was DD suffering similarly?

DS is still eating and drinking ok (despite puking it up) so I am hopeful he will pick up soon.

Not DPs year. Never mind! Got to be happy to get that far

And City won, but Sky+ failed to tape it. I have one gutted little boy here.

I'm just going to catch up...

Oh Fury! I'm so sorry. That's horrid, and you're ill .

Don't disappear. Let us help, at least be here for you to talk/ramble/rant at.

Report
lackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2008 19:15

Oh, well foxy, at least he got close! That surely is an achievement in itself

Report
lackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2008 19:18

fury, I've said this before, but the amount of stress and illness you have gone through in the last few months has got to manifest itself somehow. Would you take medication? or would your GP refer you for some counselling? IT is awful when the black dog rears it's ugly head. {{{{{hugs}}}}}

Report
LittleMissNorty · 20/04/2008 19:24

Oh that's a shame Foxy ...but what an achievement even so ....can you tape football first or MOTD for DS? It was obviously a good game going by the amount of shouting going on here

Fury, I had what seemed like weeks of it...snot, fevers, D&V.....I find fevers quite scary though and was even setting my alarm to give her meds during the night to keep her temp down and found that when she was on regular meds, it made a huge difference. But I have to say that I was gob smacked about how even half a degree can make a difference....39.5 and she was like a zombie and 39...crying pathetically....38.5 a bit more energy and so on....when I got the same bug, my god I knew how she felt and my temp only went up to 38.5! So it does make them feel pretty shit.....its enough to send anyone mad....lack of sleep and constant whinging....was he given penicillin by doc? Eyrthromycin (?sp) is known to give babies tummy cramps....normally reactions to ABs are rashes I thought....hope things improve soon..

Daisy, if I don't get back on tonight good luck for the morning and let us know x

fury sorry you are having such a crap time
can only echo what norty says about giving regular paracetamol/nurofen and letting him eat/drink what he wants even if it does reappear

hope you feel better soon too you have had a really stressful time recently

Report
andiem · 20/04/2008 19:30

foxy what a shame for your dp next year maybe

daisy good luck for tomorrow let us know how you get on
am off to talk to dh since he has been away so long night all

Report
HellHathNoFury · 20/04/2008 19:32

He was on amoxycillin - so related to penicillin? He was certainly having cramps. He's just gone to bed, fingers crossed it's better than the last 2 nights. (can't be worse!)

Daisy - so far I have been pretty open about how I have been feeling and I guess people think I am coping. I don't want to go on meds, and counselling is an option but at the moment I am dealing with it. DH has been great and I have confided in a guy at work and a girlfriend who are good too. So I am getting there.

All I really want is the illness to pass. God knows even the bloody dog is sick, he has food allergies and ate something last week, he's scratched himself so hard he is a big walking scab.

Report
HellHathNoFury · 20/04/2008 19:34

anyway - I am off to bed, gotta grab my chances!

I may/may not be around tomorrow.

Hope you all have good evenings x

lackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2008 19:37

fury, you know where I am if you want to talk about your depression.. It is a hard thing to live with, but it's great that you are getting support.

Take Care and I hope your wee man (and you and DH) get some sleep and feel better tomorrow. Sleep well x

Added to that DS has been fairly bloody difficult and arsey all day. Very difficult to please. As my dear old granny would have said "he doesn't know if he wants a shit or a haircut" sums it up fab.

Fairy, found any shoes yet? Have same big feet problems. Am off to have a look for you.

DS not sleeping. I hope things improve soon.

I have ordered some boots but am not convinced that they will fit. My biggest problem is I just can't walk in heels unless they are wedges or block heels so that cuts down my choice even further.

yep, know that one too, I find most heels difficult to.

Have had a quick scout around but heres where I look for size 9s (sorry no good at links)
