ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?
  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?
  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

Fury, sorry to hear your DS has been ill again, it's so worrying when they're like that. Here's hoping you all get a decent night's sleep, take care.

oooh, fairy those are niiiiiiiice.

I've just been on the phone to the EPU as pains getting worse . They think it either scar tenderness or a water infection, but can't see me till tomorrow, but I'm at the hospital anyway so antenatal will dip my wee for me. The UTI makes sense as I feel generally unwell and look like death warmed up, and I know I'm a bit dehydrated. Have taken some co-codamol and DH is off out on a cranberry juice buying mission while I glug pints of herbal tea.

I need some retail therapy desperately, and feel a new handbag coming on

sorry about the sleep thing still SG.

Daisy, take it easy and drink as much as you can to see if you can flush it out.

i love the shoes. if they don't have them in store then i am def going to order them. MN is BAD for our bank balance.

I read that Hibiscus juice has taken over frm cranberry for UTIs. Bugger only knows where you get it from though.

How do babies know when you've just put your dinner on the plate? Why is it at that precise moment they chose to wake up?

ooooh, while I remember. At our friends this morning and their DS had a birthday party invitation; for a party at the local grotty council sport centre.

I thought it looked nice, so I picked it up for a look.......Am I being unreasonable to think that custom printed invites for your six year old's birthday party are a bit.......well........poncey?

hmm daisy. DS2 has had his first party invite - to sealife centre (and if parents want to stay they have to pay entry fee. It's £12.50.) So, do I take a chance and let him go on his own, or do I get DH to go with him(DS1 & I used to have a yearly pass and went several times - it bores me senseless)

LOL at your grans comment SG, mine had a stock of phrases like that too.

Hope you had a good break jammy.

I love those wedges. Am I getting a shoes problem as well as a handbag problem?

Report
lackaDAISYcal · 20/04/2008 21:05

lol we use the ones in the pack from the venue......

would love a gin, have one for me

Ria, can you drop him off and then collect him again at the end. Lots of parents do that round here; as long as there are enough supervising adults it shouldn't be a problem with the birthday boy's parents.

Actually reminding me that we need to organise DSs this week.

Report
foxythesnowfox · 20/04/2008 21:19

I don't stay at parties. SG asked the question the other day. DD is 3 and I drop her off, but nothing much phases her.

I wouldn't if I thought she would worry.

Report
Riallyclean · 20/04/2008 21:29

It is my plan to leave him, I have explained that it will be a bit like school in that we won't be there and the boys mum will be (I hate parties too actually, so fish and a party together...), I know I don't expect parents to stay if I do parties (in fact I'd rather they didn't then no one can see how horrible I am to their little poppets "now let's play lets sit in a corner in silence for two hours"). If it was at their home/soft play where we'd been before I wouldn't be worried... Poor boy, I baby him

I think they need to know who is in charge, who to ask when they need something and where the loos are. i'm with you Ria, no parents at my parties either!

Will do my bestest daisy, but that's when my sis is here (her last week) and the possible week of our christening. But if DH is still not working I might be able to manage it. Lucky you - are you in the same cottage as last year?

I don't do it on purpose you know, honest!
