Oh, you've reminded me DKMA, I should put some more washing in the machine. Got my in-laws coming on Weds, so want to try to get ahead a bit before they arrive.

And I've been very foolish - used veg oil for the roasties, and just remembered we have goose fat in the fridge saved from Xmas D'oh!

RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 20:14

Glad to be of help.

My bloody children won't go to sleep. Visiting G-ma always has this effect.

What you cooking jammy?

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 20:24

Beef, yorkshire puddings, roast potatos & carrots. And gravy for DH

DKMA · 06/04/2008 20:30

Well done Jammy
We've just had baked beens with sausages on toast here!!!
I'm just enjoying my pudding........nosebleed flavoured orange juice (thanks to the iron supplement I'm taking!) yum!!

lilQuidditchKel · 06/04/2008 20:36

ok am calmed down now

we had birthday treats at a friend's house at tea time so afraid not much was had for dinner except bits of baguette and cheese

the thought of roasties in duck fat sounds delish tho!

I guess it's good sometimes that my rellies are all so far away. means the spoiling effect only happens a couple of times a year (tho it does last for at least 3 days )

lilQuidditchKel · 06/04/2008 20:38

i am so sad today though, the friend with the birthday (2yr old girl, same age as my DS) is leaving to move to the US in a week. was such a good friend

and trust me as an expat in London, each mate is precious!

RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 20:45

Real mates are precious everywhere!

Can I come to your house for tea jammy? I'll bring my own gravy! MIL made us a sandwich (they had been out for Sunday dinner, DH was a bit that we weren't invited to join them as they usually have a pub lunch with his brothers every week), the DCs got some chips from DSD where she does her weekend job that pays for her livery fees. I did cook the DCs (frozen)toad in the hole, smash & frozen veg when we got home (I am seriously lacking in the food department just at the moment). DH is meant to be cooking us pork with leeks, mushrooms and cream, tagliatelle, and I will force him to make cheesy garlic baguette, but it's getting late so we probably won't bother. Wine and cheese and onion crisps

That is why I'm FAT. I wonder if DH can be persuaded to make cottage pie tomorrow, I don't know what he does to it (cos he won't tell me) but it's the best thing ever.

Sorry, that was absolute blather.

Have I poisoned DS3? I have just re-read the packaging of the Organix rice pud that I gave DS3 for tea and it says in absolutely minute small-print "not suitable for children under 12 months"..

OP posts:
DKMA · 06/04/2008 20:58

Got me worried now Ria - I gave lo normal adult rice pud this afternoon?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 21:00

Almost certainly not poisoned DS Ria

Well, even without the goose fat the roasties were, in DH's words "awesome" Not the healthiest dinner, but hey, you can tell how often we have roast potatos if I still haven't used the goose fat from Xmas. And I did pass on cake and hot chocolate this afternoon.

RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 21:06

I can't imagine why it's not suitable. It looked like bloody baby food, it was with the baby food section of tesco. It should have had a massive number on the front of the packet IMO. He ate it quite happily! Bollocky food guidelines.

Help! DH is watching Sahara. I don't want to. Tis not fair. I am going to buy something on ebay out of spite

OP posts:
RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 21:07

sorry to have worried you dkma.

OP posts:
RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 21:14

Gawd this is boring. I'm sure he never watches stuff I don't like.

Think I might pack up for the night. Gnite. Rx

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 21:16

Night Ria. Hope you get a restful night

FrazzledFairyFay · 06/04/2008 21:26

Hi everyoe. I wouldn't worry Ria, I give DS various things that say 'only suitable over 12 months' and he's fine. I figure that if he's having our food, then how can other things (other than obvious things like honey, blue cheese, salty foods and whole nuts of course) really be that unsuitable? Maybe I'm being a bit too casual with it but he's ok so far

RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 21:27

bugger, I meant he doesn't watch stuff he doesn't like just cos I do.

have to be organised for school tomorrow so really must go.

OP posts:
FrazzledFairyFay · 06/04/2008 21:27

DKMA, have you thought of asking at a local nursery to see if any of their staff do babysitting?

FrazzledFairyFay · 06/04/2008 21:28

Good night Ria and Jammy

DKMA · 06/04/2008 21:44

Another good idea...........thanks Fairy! I'll d that tomorrow.

Right - I'm done in! I'm going to get an early night so I can manage a days work tomorrow.

Night night!

lackaDAISYcal · 06/04/2008 22:15

have I missed everyone?

A friend "sorted" my laptop for me when I was away, and I've just spent the last three hours trying to get the wireless connection to play. The original problem is fixed, but there's another one now [grumpy]

Was too knackered after the party yesterday to get the pooter out, and today we went fishing.......in the snow! It was good fun, but bloody cold, and I caught two fish . So we had grilled rainbow trout for tea tonight. Before everyone gets all congratulatory though, it was at a fish farm, so more a case of "catching" than "fishing" as it wasn't much sport. one hour and we took four fish. I left the clubbing them over the head bit to DH and DS (who thought it was the best bit ) though. DD had fun as well, sitting on my shoulders catching snowflakes on her tongue. she thought the fish were really funny, and ducks the most fascinating thing ever...very cute. (the fish tasted very pondy and earthy to me, but I think it was just my pregnant taste buds as DS and DH thought it was just fine.

Sorry your LO is poorly foxy . Can you take her for her jabs tomorrow anyway and just get her checked out instead? DD had a rough few days there with a bad cold and teething, but I'm happy to say we have top teeth and she is back on form again. she was delighting all the adults at the party yesterday, especially when she scoffed four chocolate dipped strawberries and a huge bit of (brandy laden ) chocolate brownie!

fury, I caught your posts about feeling a bit glum. with all the illnesses etc that you and your family have had to deal with recenylt, it's no wonder that you're not on top form. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but whenever we have a run of illness we get some vitamin tonic like effaco or similar. It seems to help.

mhc, not sure about vitamin D deficiency with coeliac disease. It does compromise your absorption of vits and minerals that are in food if it isn't under control, and even if it is under control then calcium and iron malabsortion is a problem. Have you had a blood test?

dkma and lilkel, good to see you both back again

erm...what else? bumper, I'm glad your first days back at work were OK; that first day is the worst.

pah on the weightloss thing (although a well done pat on the back Sputnik ). Mine is creeping up again already. Not looking forward to it, so I think I'm going to hide the scales for the duration and worry about it next year. I had hoped to be fit and fabulous for my 40th next Feb, but that isn't likely, so I'm putting my 40th on hold for a year, and will be 39 again next Feb. My new DOB is feb 1970.

LOL daisy. Sounds like you had a good weekend.

I'm just waiting to get the DCs ready for school (If we get ready too early it goes tits up and we're late) It's damp and snowy here, but not nice and white because of the general dampness. I am toying with the idea of cancelling our place at music tots for later, it has been moved from the centre of the village to a hall right outside the village, (up a massive hill, but that's not relevant) I'm thinking if DH is out and I have to walk to collect DS1 from school, he'll hardly have time for lunch before we have to go out again to get there on time, and he doesn't seem on top form yet. Maybe I'll just give it a miss today (I have evil backache and don't fancy sitting on a cold floor/jumping around either). It's not really proper pain, just an awful ache at the top of my ribs and it's making me feel sick.

I don't know anything about protesting, but I've just been reading about Shannon Matthews mother getting arrested. If the current allegations are true it just makes a mockery out of all the genuine cases there have been and people like that just don't deserve children. IMO. Sorry if that offends anyone. It is especially bad because of all the "why has this childs disappearance had no media coverage just because the family are "uneducated"" - I think that's the quote I mean - and if that's all they were after. I don't know if it would be worse if the little girl knew that's what was going on or not. Very suspicious. I hope she's happy in care though.

Sorry, rant over. I am off to wake DH up so I can rant to him now

Have a good day - I shouldn't be here as need to catch up round the house, but I bet I am.

oops, I meant ds2 in that post.

DS1 is fine thanks mhc, he did think he was getting a migraine last night but we dismissed it as Sunday night-itis! he is still waiting for the last test for dyslexia, the bullying seems to have eased off and his nasty attitude is back

DS2 had a bit of a pre-school paddy cos he didn't want to go (it has been over 4 weeks with his pox and the hols), but he was fine when he got there.

I think co-sleeping doesn't help my back (DS2 more than DS3), we also need a new mattress and I need to get more active and lose weight. I have some core strength exercises in a magazine, I may do those instead of bumpers bootcamp ones for a few days.

Well, I've had my tea and toast (buttery of course - it's snowing! Stew for tea too, yum.) So I should get moving. Where to start... two weeks worth of child debris to deal with, and for once their rooms are both pretty tidy
