Sputnik · 17/04/2008 13:59

2-4 poos a day here too. Varying consistency, but I have noticed more dairy = runnier poo.
Usually 1 yogurt, and 1 meal with cheese (usually ricotta) as main protein

Forgot to say earlier, Hi Natty, have been wondering where you'd got to, how's things?

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 14:13

hey SG......cme back and talk to us, we miss you lots.

I was just thinking about you the other day when I was in IKEA looking at blinds

you can't just post and run like that

DD is a very muddy baby . I let her crawl around in the garden when I was hangng out the washing just then. 10 mins and one very very muddy bubba later.

i think I might get her some crawling shoes from Clarks....i need something i can wipe down if she's going to be out there a lot!

kaniluja · 17/04/2008 14:28

think of you guys all time. guess just get swept into whirlwind of domesticity. finding ds high maintenance ( in comparison to dd) baby, very demanding, and grumpy, very frustrated as not crawling and since all his illnesses in the winter ( 7 in four months) has not slept well and separation anxiety is a big thing for him. He is very cute and lovely but when grumpy , nothing pleases him i feel like tearing my hair out. anyway .....it gets easier i know ...must go and get dd.

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 14:30

come back and chat later....we want all the gen on your lovely babies

Riallyclean · 17/04/2008 15:55

Hi all, so much chat today. Glad things are birghter today daisy, and sorry for your sleep issues bumper, I'm afraid I would give in and co-sleep just so I couldsleep (I still end up with DS2 over my feet some nights/in his bed with him). I can't manage without sleep. We have baggins in his cot now from about 8pm, then he comes in with us some time in the night.

I thought babies couldn't have wholemeal cos they couldn't digest it. Baggins has whatever we have in. He has 2x 8oz and 2x5oz, occasionally an extra 8oz in the night. He has up to 3 fromage frais/custard, milk in his cereal(out of his bottle though), cheese not quite so often but sometimes. He had sandiwches for lunch and is having a jare of chessy leeks and noodles for tea. and maybe chocolate pudding.

CPN went ok, I got my homework right! Been to the garden centre and spent nearly £16!!! (quite good I thought for what we got), now it's raining Hopefully it will be fine tomorrow so I can do a bit of gentle pottering after work.

Have to go and tidy the kitchen...

Riallyclean · 17/04/2008 15:56

Hi SG , glad to have you back (haven't got my specs on and sat too far away to read your new name)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/04/2008 16:00

Jamlet has whatever bread we have in - sometimes wholemeal, sometimes white, sometimes granary. She has cheese or cheese sprwad most days, and yoghurt most days too. I used to give petit filous type ones, but the HV nagged soo she now has natural yoghurt and I sometimes add fruit or raisins or sometimes she has it plain. She drinks water but again it's because she's happy with it. She has between 1 and 3 dirty nappies a day, texture can range.

LittleMissNorty · 17/04/2008 16:02

Thanks ladies ....I'm doing exactly the same as you lot

So, I shall ignore the woman and get my advice from you lot

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 16:08

I can't believe your HVs are asking what you're feeding them. Mine hasn't shown the slightest interest, but then we don't get the 8month check till a year here so I'll no doubt be grilled then.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/04/2008 16:10

The yoghurt thing is about the only thing I have done that she's told me though. Last thing she told me was to cut back on BF because she didn't need it

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 16:12

oh FFS . where do they get them from.

derlor, if you're out there lurking, you are obviously the exception to the nutty HV club

Sputnik · 17/04/2008 16:17

Nice to hear your news Kaniluja, mine is very frustrated over not crawling too, he rocks on he knees but stays on the launch pad. However....

Baby Sputnik has now mastered the fine art of bum-shuffling!
He is having a fine old time with my foldable foam exercise mat (about all it's been used for this week )

Sputnik · 17/04/2008 16:19

What's wrong with petit filous?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/04/2008 16:20

She said it's too sugar laden.

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 16:34

petit filous has added sugar I believe.

we buy sainsbury's own as it's just yogurt and fruit puree. You can taste the difference (no pun intended) between it and petit filous for sweetness.

but, at the end of the day, I'm sure we were all brought up on custard and semolina and rice pudding etc for desert. If it's just a desert and not your dcs main staple, I don't have an issue with a bit of extra sugar at all.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/04/2008 16:43

Just popping in to say hi before I start on dinner. I got the book you sent me this morning sputnik. Thanks so much. I shall read it in bed tonight and hopefully put it into action at the weekend.

Hope everyone else is ok, I'll come back later to catch up.

xx

kaniluja · 17/04/2008 16:48

will come back.... will try tomorrow night as off out with my dps to see ocean colour scene acoustic at birmingham town hall, so if i manage to get ready for 6 then i'll be off. getting ready with ds around a major task........

lilQuidditchKel · 17/04/2008 18:48

hi - i promise i'll not complain in this post - well, not too much anyway...

A word of caution about dairy. I let DS have as much dairy as he liked - and he was a HUGE fan of it. Entire meal could consist of cheese with yogurt/fromage frais to follow. I thought 'he knows what he needs.' Well it was sadly not what he needed at all, he was actually allergic, and it was causing a bronciolitis type chestiness which we thought was unrelated. . He had "bronchiolitis" for a YEAR. Yeah. Needless to say, many expensive tests and dr visits later, (we eventually went private as my GP insisted nothing was wrong )...he is still dairy free, but healthy. I hope one day he can tolerate it again. His poos always were and still are very soft and mushy.

So....everything in moderation must be the only practical rule. God, why is my mother always right??

As for DD, I've held off giving her dairy-based meals as a result and am pleased to say she's so far not had the symptoms DS did.

She has 3x 8oz SMA Progress bottles a day (though only finishes 3/4 most of the time), plus formula in her cereal at breakfast time. BIts of cheese in meals but only as a side dish. Poos actually quite hard ATM. I think it's all the bananas she wants. Plus she always did have trouble with constipation. Maybe I should give her more cheese!!

lilQuidditchKel · 17/04/2008 18:49

Oh as for bread, and I give DD whatever we have. Wholegrain bread, white hamburger buns, bran flakes, cheerios, breadsticks, etc etc. She's a right pig

lackaDAISYcal · 17/04/2008 20:37

gosh, it's quite tonight.
sorry about DSs dairy thing lilkel. It's possible he'll grow out of it, but thanks for the heads up. mind you, I'm convinced that DD has dairy issues so tend not to overdo it here....and that wasn't a moan, you'll have to try much harder than that

another fecking awful bedtime here. DS does all he can to wind me up, including coming downstairs fully dressed after his bath as he "just can't be bothered" to get his pjs on. I was bloody furious and chased him upstairs. 20 mins later, after getting DD organised, I find him sitting playing rather than tidying up and getting ready for bed, still in his clothes. the look of defiance on his face. I'm ashamed to say I lost it at that point, and skelped his backside . I just can't cope with both him and DD at the minute. Dh will be home soon and I'm soooo tempted to have a suitcase ready and just walk out and leave him to it. As for coming back, well.....

worst parent award is definately in the post

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/04/2008 21:05

Can I join you daisy? Maybe we could get a bachelorette pad...no kids allowed! My fucking ds is doing my head in. I have just spent the past 1 1/2 hours trying to get him to go in his cot. He was screaming and screaming and made himself sick. I didn't even leave him or anything, I was just sat there next to the cot. Needless to say it was a complete disaster and he is now asleep on the sofa after being bfed to sleep. I need to crack this before I die of no sleep. Hopefully the lovely book the lovely sputnik sent me will have some cunning tips.

Talking of dairy, I fed my dcs Asda Great Stuff fromage frais after dinner only to find they've got farking fish oils in them. I'm a bit pissed off tbh. You don't expect fish to be in yoghurts surely! That'll teach me to not read the ingredients. Now I'm stuck with a load of yoghurts that no-one will eat.

My ds can still go through some days with very little, if not any, solid food, just bmilk. He is very strong and healthy, so don't worry about the amount of dairy. Some organisations don't recommend any solids til 12 months, so any amount of dairy at this age is surely not too much?

I see your back with a shiny new name sg! Please stay, I miss you! x

I can't catch up beyond that! Hope everyone else is well x

Sputnik · 17/04/2008 21:07

I'm here Daisy.
Sorry to hear about your crap bedtime.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/04/2008 21:07

I heart sputnik !

Sputnik · 17/04/2008 21:15

Hi Holly, sorry you had a crap time too. There are sme good tips in that book, it "works" for lots of people, bits worked for me, mostly the pulling off thing, but mostly it just helped me come to terms with DD's crap sleeping. I then joined a yahoo group with some really bad sleepers and felt much better .

Anyway, good luck with it. Luckily Baby Sputnik is much better, he wakes 2-3 times a night usually, but he a) can go to sleep on his own and b) stays that way as oposed to waking u 1/2 and hour later as DD used to. Which is why I don't need the book.

I also have a baby whisperer book, if you like I could scan the pages on her pick up/put down thing and send you them.

Sputnik · 17/04/2008 21:16

Heart you too, mwah
