no worries jbm....it was £50 from homebase and is going on some bare ground at the bottom of the garden where it is quite sheltered, so hopefully it'll be OK. We'll keep the receipt though

so far we have two types of courgette, some early peas, baby sweetcorn, pumpkins, and two types of tomatoes for potting on or potting out. also got some onion sets and some chitted potatoes to go in, plus carrots, beetroot, runaway beans, broad beans, leeks and some more peas and maybe leeks (all seeds). We already have garlic planted in the garden which is coming on nicely and some in pots to get planted tomorrow. It's all very exciting. We've doen a few bits before, but this is the first year we've attempted anything this grand; and i have a habit of killing things so we'll see what sort of harvest we have, if any!

thanks for the comment on the photos holly. they are only good cos you can't see my face .

Re the cat....get one of those super soaker waterpistols and blast the cat every time it comes near your garden. It'll soon get the hint; cats HATE water. The robin might just be OK. They are fariyl territorial and keep the sam nest year in year out, so it's probably raised a brood from it in the past.

am of your robin though. We have fecking magpies nesting in our holly tree.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/04/2008 19:54

bless your DD holly

you should send that one to VS....it could go on the photo-montage for the cover!

The one of you feeding DD is lovely; you look so studious!

andiem · 12/04/2008 19:59

justbeme · 12/04/2008 20:25

Daisy we'll have to compare our crops!!

Holly, my DP was at seeing himself!!

I remember potty training DD1 - I hated it and got far too stressed out. Next time, I hope its nice weather and can be outside alot! Although at the mo have laminate floor which will be alot easier than 100% wool carpet!

RiaisMaLarkin · 12/04/2008 20:26

Hi all, I'm back from a crappy busy day and feel like shite. (obviously too much too soon this morning).

Set off to York and got a stabbing headache just above my eye about 5 mins into the journey. Also feel sick, so very mild migraine I expect. Got a refund on DS1s shoes no bother and replaced them from Tesco of all places, but at least if they turn out to be crap they were cheap enough to forget about and replace (he has had fairly decent ones from there before). Tried on some bras in Matalan - pah! Had a nice walk around Wetherby, and plan to go back in the warmer weather for picnicking and walking by the river (Preferably with DH gagged so he can't go on about how different it is since he was a lad). Visited MIL and did the supermarket shopping. The big DCs have been little horrors all day.

Early to bed for me tonight I think.

BTW, isn't it illegal to have a bonfire ona SUnday? (ancient bylaw)

Good luck with the growing things. DH is going to take up gardeing now he can't work

Good luck with potty training too.

I am going for a trial shift at the holiday park on Monday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOXY have a great day and enjoy your cake.

Poor Ria

Here's to a better day tomorrow. Tuck yourself up with a hot drink and a book, and put your crappy day behind you.

I'm off, so nite all! and thanks for the kind birthday wishes xx

DKMA · 12/04/2008 20:43

Flippin heck you lot can chat! Tried to catch up but now cant rememmber who's done what!
Ria - you've had a mega day - time to chill and watch some trash on TV or somthing!!
Foxy - Happy birthday Mrs!! (for tomorrow)
And lots of lovely bf photo's about - aahh!

Wouldn't mind some advice on a dress I might order online - I've got 2 do'd to go to at the end of this month - I don't want to spend much - as I don't plan to be this size for long.
I've found a dress I kind of like but I'm not sure of the material - worried it might look like I'm wearing a recycling plastic bag? Or a demented green Christmas turkey!
what do you think?
Be honest!
Seems to take ages to upload?

justbeme · 12/04/2008 20:47

Wow DKMA - very glam! It says VERY fitted - dont know what size you are but you're obv. feel very confident in yourself - I couldnt wear anything like that - by tum would stick out!

Good luck with the trial on monday Ria!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 20:55

I know what you mean - tum is not too bad - Looks a mess when I sit down though!?
I think dresses with rushing that runs accross the front like that can hide some lumps and bumps? Perhaps.... might do........oh god? I will look like a big lumpy green turkey!

It's a bit more demure than I'd normally wear though (pre pg)....yes I am a slut!!!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 20:57

My spelling is very crap - I'm sorry!!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:09

Oh dear - I think I've just scared everyone off with that dress

Bumperlicious · 12/04/2008 21:14

Hi all

DKMA I think it looks nice, but you are right about the material, at that price it might be a bit tacky. These any good?

Ria, well done on arranging the trial, that's very motivated of you!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:19

Thanks for that Bumper - Yes I like some of them - but run the risk of being one of many in the same dress iykwim - one of the do's will have 1500 people there! I like to get something a bit different - but don't want to pay loads for it!

Bumperlicious · 12/04/2008 21:24

True, but I would be inclined to shop in person for something like that, as you will need a dress like that to fit your shape well and often sizing is crap. depends how long you have though, if you have time to get that dress and send it back if not great then there is nothing to lose by trying.

Gotta abandon you I'm afraid, neglecting Dh! Good luck with your dress

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:29

Fear not..........I might go and have a look here

lackaDAISYcal · 12/04/2008 21:29

hi DKMA, not ignoring you, I've been looking for my own outfit for this blardy christening. The dress looks good, but agree the material might be a bit nasty for that price, but then again it might surprise you. I'd order it and see how it looks; you can always send it back

I love some of those dresses on the Debenham's site bumper.....I feel a trip into town coming on

I'm feeling more and more depressed at the thought of standing in front of all those people looking like a blimp.

I have some nice black trousers so could get a new top, but worried about it not looking formal enough. How formal does one need to be for a christening? is it suit territory? I saw this skirt and was impressed by the bargain-ness of it, but getting a top to go with it might be a challenge.

I might even start a style thread on here

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:37

Daisy - I think that skirt looks lovely - and you're right - it's a massive bargin!
Sorry for being dim but is this for your lo's christening - or one you are just going to?
When is it? Is it soon?

lilQuidditchKel · 12/04/2008 21:38

hi DKMA - that dress looks potentially fab imho. have a backup though as it's also potentially too shiny...

daisy is this your own DCs christenign you're shopping for? must say i've been happiest at my 2 (both recent ) when wearing a structured skirt suit with feminine top underneath the jacket. Pale colour is good as you'll be holding the baby for ages and they're in pale colours also. One of my suits I got in the US but the other was from Wallis...just ignore the size numbers and get somethign which fits well!

off to bed I'm on morning duty tomorrow

lackaDAISYcal · 12/04/2008 21:45

I'm going to be godmother to my nephew .

We decided ours could make their own mind up about the church when they are older. DH is a bit of an athiest and doesn't see the need, and although I used to go to church at home, I've not been since I got married three years ago I did ask about getting DS christened when he was a baby but my local church at the time (I wasn't a mamber, but attended occasionally) said no, as I was a single parent . It kind of put me off a bit!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/04/2008 21:47

Wow DKMA! You are brave! I would love to have the confidence to wear a dress like that! If you can pull it off then go for it.

I really like that skirt daisy, 'tis truly a bargin! Just a plain pink top would look great with it.

I have to go to a wedding in August and am shitting myself. It is one of dp's friends and his gf is really gorgeous and thin. I really don't want to look like a big fat frump next to her. I want to find a dress that makes me look like a 26 year old and not like my mum! It's tough!

Hope you are ok ria. Have a cool glass of vino and a sit down xx

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:49

Daisy - would [http://www.cravematernity.co.uk/CraveMaternitySite/product/Sale/TOP678.htm?swatch=BLANCMANGE this]] top go with that skirt?
Very at the single parent thing! We feel the same about letting lo decide what he wants to do when he's older .....espec as we are not christians!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:50

Hi L and H!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:51

bugger! try again!

DKMA · 12/04/2008 21:53

or this

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/04/2008 21:53

That pink top is great, but fucking hell, I wish I looked like that whilst pg!
