Doobydoo · 09/04/2008 09:38

Morning all.HAPPY BIRTHDAY!....Thomasine

PillockOfTheCommunity · 09/04/2008 09:59

The start of the article from the Telegraph -

Ellen Kirkby was nervous. The birth of her first son, Matthew, had not been easy and as her due date loomed, she realised she didn?t want to be alone. Fortunately fate ? in the form of parenting website, Mumsnet ? intervened. ?I posted a thread saying I was worried. DaisyMOO came on and said she would like to be there for me,? says Kirkby. ?It was a week before my due date and I knew nothing about her. But we chatted and I thought, ?go for it?.?
DaisyMOO (who?s also known as Caroline) was indeed there at the birth, and Kirkby says her presence made all the difference.
?She gave me the confidence to have the birth I wanted, to turn down drugs I didn?t want and to help get Joe to breastfeed. She even went to get my ex-partner so he could see the baby, before making sure he went away again.?

I'm really worried that the last sentence sounds really harsh, have asked her to change it but she's not sure if she can, it may already have gone to press oh well

when is it going to print?

wouldn't normally buy the telegraph, but would make an exception for you

we go on hols in 4 wks, and I'm wondering whether to buy a v cheap/2nd hand double buggy. just been thinking about going for walks in the evening, and ds1 getting tired. could also be handy for the airport. any advice?

oooggs · 09/04/2008 10:39

sounds good to me - shame all the readers don't know what a low life tosser Justin is - when is it released? - when can we buy it?

oooggs · 09/04/2008 10:40

how about freecycle runny? it would then be free and you could just do the same when you get back

geordieminx · 09/04/2008 10:55

Runny - we got a M&P aria from ebay with the a car seat that we didnt need for £16... Its not in great condition but will be ideal for holidays - once you decide what you want it may be worth keeping an eye out...

runnyhabbit · 09/04/2008 10:56

thanks oooggs, will look into freecycle

although I could just get a single buggy, and borrow my mums buggy board (j loves the buggy board)

runnyhabbit · 09/04/2008 11:00

just going out for a bit

see you later

will have a look in freeads - friend of mine has told me that she bought a hauck disney for £20 in good condition (might see if she'll sell it to me...)

leakyR · 09/04/2008 11:31

Morning G has been asleep for aaages. Trying to think what I need for his party on Saturday.

Can any of you help with cake recipe?

Thanks for understanding about my rant about my friends dh the other night. Will just have to wait and see how the trip goes.

G awake! Bye for now!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 09/04/2008 13:36

I'm not sure, but thinking it must be this weekend if it's gone to print?

runny, the only problem with a buggy board would be that J can't sleep on it, his legs will still get tired from standing.

Could always get a cheap second single buggy, that way you're not forced to use the double if you're out during the daytime and don't need J in it?

Hi guys! Woke up this morning unable to open my eyes!! Managed to get them open with warm water and cotton wool and went to the Drs. Now have eyes drops, so hopefully should be ok again soon Currently hurt lots and very blurry vision .....

Sigh.

Happy Birthday little Tamsin Wonder how WE is doing?

VERY excited about Pillock and DaisyMoo's article

NorthernLurker · 09/04/2008 18:47

That sounds horrid! Is it conjunctivitis? (sp?)

Luce - my three make a fair mess - but I make the older two tidy it up

CaptainDippy · 09/04/2008 19:22

Yep, conjuctivitis - yuk yuk yuk.

Sexonlegs · 09/04/2008 19:46

Hi loves

Lots to catch up on.

Happy Birthday Tamsin!!

Eddas, poor you and your ears. How did the docs appointment go?

And Dippy, your eyes sound dreadful. Hope the drops work soon.

Oooggs, sounds like you had a very productive day. How was your afternoon?

SPB, how is T today?

POTC, and who have you been drinking with at lunchtime?? Great article btw

Luce, good to see you.

Runny, I would get a pushchair, as otherwise you/your dh will end up carrying him. We bought a cheap one from Kiddicare.com but that was before we knew about ebay!!

All ok here. Feel lots better, but just totally exhausted. Haven't eaten much again today really and it has been a full on day. We spent over 5 hours at Longdown Dairy Farm with a friend and her 2 dd's. It was lovely. Took K to the docs as well to have her ears checked as she had that ear infection a couple of weeks ago. Seemingly they are still very red but not infected. Dr got me a bit worried talking about causing hearing porblems, so am to go back in a months' time. She has given me a script for a prescription so if they do get infected I can get some ab's for her asap without having to make an appointment. Thought that was really sensible and pro-active of her.

elkiedee · 09/04/2008 19:57

Hi all

Happy birthday Tamsin

Hope your eyes feel better soon Dippy.

I must remember to ask dp to try and get the DT on Saturday. For years and years we used to get all the weekend papers but I decided in the summer that it was ridiculous, I couldn't even get round to skimming that much paper.

mammyjo · 09/04/2008 20:20

Evening all. Another panic filled, stressful day in the MJ household. Only read on if you are bored as I will probably go on a bit.

Yesterday, at about 5pm I developed horrendous chest pain, so bad that I could barely stand and certainly could not have picked up F. My dad came and took me to A+E where I stayed for 5 hours. Turns out that they think I have gallstones which sounds like nothing, but the only pain I can equate it to is labour
Came home and spent most of the night awake and in pain. Bit better this morning, but then gradually the pain came back through the afternoon. Went to GP who has given me drugs which have definitely helped and I do feel better this evening. Now though, I am (TMI alert) weeing bright orange. Thinking it is bilirubin breaking down from my aggravated liver but will be going back to the GP yet again tomorrow morning.
I want a normal, healthy, no problem week please! If I carry on with these symptoms then it looks likely that I will need my gall bladder removing, that is a very scary prospect to me, eek.

Anyway, SOL, Eddas, CD, hope you are all feeling a bit better tonight. SPB, hope T is doing ok too. Cant remember any more now, see you all soon xxx

Sexonlegs · 09/04/2008 20:28

Bloody hell MJ. How incredibly scary. Why do these things happen when dh's are away. So glad your dad could help you out.

A friend of ours had gallstones and she was in agony. She had them out (not sure if she had her gall bladder out) through keyhole surgery and said it was fine.

Thinking of you and sending you loads of hugs. xx

Hi Elkie

Eddas · 09/04/2008 20:33

mj, hope you're ok, well as ok as you can be iyswim.

Seriously, why is everyone ill

I have an outer ear infection apparently and now have drops. I was a bit though as my maternity expemption ran out on 1st april so I had to pay mind you i'd pay more than £7.10 if my ear stops hurting soon

very quiet atm on our thread. Maybe birthday madness

I really ought to get on with ds' party bits. My trouble is I start off planning early then I think i'm too organised so stop and then I leave it all really late oh well
