Evening

Ive been busy wrapping dh's presents tonight. he wont be in until 1am and is back out again at 7.30 so Ive just gone round putting balloons everywhere to cheer him up There are two large ones on the gate with '30' on them so he should spot them as soon as he pulls up lol

Im taking J and his friend to the cinema in Gunwharf tomorrow, while they are in there the rest of us are going to look at the boats E cant wait to get back on a train.

I have a lovely son The other day I gave J £3 to buy himself some food and drink when he went to the library (what a swot going during the hols lol)but instead of spending it all on himself he came back with a card and Toblerone for Dh. Then today he was given £7 because he was going to play badminton and look round a few shops (again it was for drinks, food bus fare etc) and he came back with presents for my birthday He tried to buy me a pair of earrings but got a bit confused and ended up buying a Gent's earring by mistake. He didnt realise until he got home and there was only one in the box Its a lovely CZ emerald cut stud so I will go and buy another to make a pair. At least he tried, I got quite choked up that he even thought of buying me something like that.

Must go check bus and train times for tomorrow. Its like a military operation trying to time everything right, wish I could drive

elkiedee · 08/04/2008 23:19

Scootermum, you could do Facebook under your mumsnet pseudonym and not put up a picture or use a profile picture which isn't of you at all!

Pebble, awww at your son.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 08:09

Aaahh, Pebble your ds sounds lovely. What a thoughtful thing to do. Hope dh liked the balloons.
We've got a quiet day planned today. We've had 2 very busy days and I need time to catch up on houseowrk. I may get called to go and help my sister out with her kids. Her dh works long hours and she has got labyrinthitus. She's really ill and can't stand up without being sick. My mum is helping out but I said I'd go over if she needed a break.

scootermum · 09/04/2008 08:51

I know Elkie but that would defeat the object..then only people off here would know who I was and I speak to all of you guys here anyway..plus am such a wolly that would confuse myself and very possibly end up with no friends and divorced..well a bit of an exaggeration but still..Gin

All this talk of Moben kitchens and big old cars..April are you quite posh?!Are YOU the celebrity MNer?!!!

Oi Cam, leave off the Primark..I work for a charidee thus my moral obligation to the poor sweat shop employees is cancelled out by my daily work at the coal face of social care..or something like that I agree its is a bit morally questionable,..but in the duvets defence I wouldnt say it was exceptionally high quality..Its sum parts are proabably worth about £2 tbh..it certainly has never been near a natural fibre ..Perhaps one should ask what the mark up on these products is in, for example, John Lewis..(not that you can buy said synthetic duvet in JL'S, natch only pure Duck down..)

I dont get threatened with knives most days but we have a tenant at the moment who was a bit of a rogue before he had his accident and fell in with a bad lot on the estate where he lived. Now he is here they visit him regularly and use his flat as a lovely warm place to smoke dope in (they are banned from coming but he lets them in through the fire door)..and it was one of them that got a bit irate at one of my staff when she told them very politely that tenant wasnt in when they came round one morning..I stepped in as they were being really aggressive, at which point your man got his knife out.I was quite petrified TBH..I told him the Police had been called, (lie) and advised him to leave.Which he did.I was very brave, till he got round the corner, then I collapsed in a big heap!Everyone is a bit nervous here in case he comes back so have hAd to buy all the staff personal alarms..what is the world coming to?

Abby-I cant belived Gullivers Kingdom is still open!I used to go there when I was little..I loved it!And the cable cars..did you go in them too?!..I got stuck in one once for about an hue whe uit broke down! When I go home next I am deffo going to take the kids!Very over excited!!!

I would love to go from 2 to 3..am trying not to get to excited at the mo as my AF is I think late..I say think as for the life of me I cant remember when the last one was at all!Think was so busy with going back to work etc that hardly noticed it..no other symptoms though so think Dh shouldnt be panicking too much yet..havent told him that there is even a possiblity as he is busy revising for his exam next month and I dont want to put him off..Allowing myself a few secret 's at the thought however!

Aww lovely DS Pebble..so sweet..

AprilMeadow · 09/04/2008 09:05

Well done to R on eating so well. I can send Ella round and she can train R to be a food monster like she is - any scrap of anything and she will eat it

I have heard a few things about M&D but i like the products so much that i thought i would gamble Fingers crossed we should be ok.

errrrrrm NO is the answer to that Scoot - you have met me did i look in the tiniest bit famous..... I just have a husband with a few spare pennies at the moment

Pebble, what a lovely little man you have, that is just so sweet.

This time last year i was buying and building ds's birthday present (got it early) and only 12hours away from being in labour!!

Better drag self off to get ready for work. Catch you all later xxx

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 09:05

Yes it is very much still open Scoot. It's looking a little tired in places but it's brilliant for toddlers as they can go on all the rides and you don't get any nasty teenagers there spoiling it for them. We didn't go on the cable cars up to the Heights of Abraham yesterday but we have many a time. The only problem with Gulliver's is the hills, dh took C up tot he top on the chair lift and Ipushed R up in the buggy. I had serious lung burn by the time I got up there!

AprilMeadow · 09/04/2008 12:08

Cable cars confuse me! I went to Alton Towers when i was about 12 and my brother and i got in cable car but got in the wrong one and ended up in the wrong side of the park. Took ages to run around the big lake to get back to a very cross Dad!

I want to take J to Drayton Manor in the summer to visit Thomasland. Although not sure he would let us leave!

Another sneaky visit whilst at work.... Am trying to do a VAT return manually.... not an accountant and am crapping self as i have no idea what i am doing. Why cant I have sage for this particular one as is makes things so much easier.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 12:20

We're hoping to go to Thomasland on Friday AM with the NCT crowd so I'll let you know what it's like. These bloody holidays are costing me a fortune. We've done something nice and cheap this morning and we've been to the local Nature Reserve to feed the ducks.

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 12:24

Hi all

Got the feeling some of you may have been with me for wondering who the famous mner was. Soz. I'm very nosy.

Anyhoo...

Nothing exciting to report. Scoot - I love a bit of a Primark bargain, in fact I am wearing a Primark t-shirt under my suit as we speak. Did anyone hear about the awful accident at my local Primark? Terrible, really haunting. Still, the little girl is now off the critical list.

Hope you are all well, L is fine. Little monkey that she is and dh enjoyed his 4 days in Barcelona! I had the same thing for dinner every night when he was gone. How sad is that?

Just been reading the Shannon Matthews thread - very alarming.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 12:59

Hi PJ, nice to see you. Hope you and L are fine. My 2 little monkeys are both asleep. Agree re SM thread. The whole situation is very anyway. Those poor kids.

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 13:35

Hi Abby

I know, isn't it awful. Two asleep at once? I'm in awe!

scootermum · 09/04/2008 13:53

I havent read it..the whole thing is just grim.
What happened in the Primark PJ?

Oh Yes, AM you are right-I would have noticed if you were a sleb..but then I was so preggo when I met you that I was probably in some state of confusion and wouldnt have noticed if I was having lunch with Joan Collins!

Have a really awful review this afternoon in town with a tenant here and his family who are horrid..only thing getting me through it is the thought of a little pootle round Oxford st and a bit of dinner with my BF after..Its very good having parents at home for that sort of thing..

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 13:56

On Friday afternoon a 3 year old girl fell 100ft down a gap in the escalators, from the second floor to the ground floor. Having been there loads of times I can't quite picture how it happened, but must have been horrendous.

She's in Alder Hey with a broken arm and leg and internal injuries, but is off the critical list.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 14:09

I heard about that on the news PJ. You can't even imagine what the poor mum must have been going through.
Anyone got any handy hints for teething. R didn't really suffer with her first two but is really suffering at the moment.

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 14:12

Ashton and Parsons (I think that's what they're called) teething granules. And Dentinox teething gel works for L too. She teethes like a loony.

scootermum · 09/04/2008 14:14

Dreadful. Its teh kind of thing you cant really legislate for. That siad I hate escualktors at the best of times..Always feel a bit giddy on them.I often see poele running down the steps on the tube and wish they wouldnt!

M is the same..no bother with her first two but this third, crikey!
Nelsons Teetha..and have been giving her sticks of carrot that have been chilled in the fridge to knaw on as the cold soothes the gums (also stops her crying for a bit=relief for Mummy )

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 14:21

Totally Scoot - I believe the store has re-opened and no extra precautions have been put in place, so must have just been a freak accident. Absolutely awful.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 14:24

I will try and get some of the A&P stuff later, thanks. I've given her Calpol and Dentinox but neither seem to be giving her any relief. C is asleep and I think when he wakes we'll all go out in the garden. R loves to be in the baby swing and C can play on his climbing frame and slide.

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 14:26

Oh Abby that sounds lovely. I'm on my way round.

scootermum · 09/04/2008 14:36

And me.No im not, instead its the no 73 into London town and an hour of dreadful arguements no doubt.Think will buy a bar of Galaxy on the way.Medicinal purposes..

Pinkjenny · 09/04/2008 14:40

YUM Scoot. Get me one too.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 15:23

Count me in Scoot, diet isn't going dreadfully well! We had a lovely time in the garden but it is just starting to spot with rain so we have come in. R sat in the swing the whole time and just squawked when she wanted a push. C had just about every toy out of his playshed but we finally settled on a kickabout and some throwing and catching practice. It certainly blew the cobwebs away and R seems more settled now.
Tomorrow my mum is coming over for the day and we're going into Derby to have a look round the shops. She visits quite a lot but hasn't seen the new shopping centre yet.

AbbyLou · 09/04/2008 21:28

I'm sure I'm a threadkiller.....

AprilMeadow · 10/04/2008 07:47

Guess what????

Ella cut her first tooth on her birthday

Have opened a few pressies but we are saving the rest for when everyone comes round this afternoon.

I think i spent most of last night and this morning thinking what i was doing a year ago! She was 4hours old by this point last year. Very scary!

OP posts:
AbbyLou · 10/04/2008 07:59

Happy birthday Ella, how sweet to get her first tooth today. Hope she and all of you have a lovely day AM. I remember C's first birthday and spending the whole day thinking 'this time last year....'
